Funeral services were held Sunday, March 10, 1 p.m. at the Beechwall United Baptist Church at Leander for Kenneth Lowell O達ryan, 73, of Van Lear, who passed away Tuesday, March 6, at the U. K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Mr. O達ryan was born June 19, 1939 in Johnson County, son of the late Ervin Kenneth and Opal May O達ryan. He was a retired administrator with the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center. He also was a Commissioner of District 3, and an apple auctioneer for the Johnson County Apple Festival.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Williams O達ryan.
Surviving are five sons, Brad (Jennifer) O達ryan of Van Lear, Gary (Cammy) O達ryan of Oil Springs, Greg (Jeanie) O達ryan of Leander, Jeff (Robin) O達ryan of Lowmansville, and Jim (Teresa) O達ryan of Wittensville; one daughter, Kimberly (Jim) Peters of Irvin; four brothers, Randall (Linda) O達ryan of Hager Hill, Rick (Anita) O達ryan of Winchester, Robert (Lillian) O達ryan of Leander and Roger (Diane) O達ryan of Denver; three sisters-in-law, Glenda O達ryan of Lexington, and Susie Edwards and Wanda Sublett, both of Paintsville; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Elders James R. Blair, Jerry Colvin and Douglas Ward, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Alice Judith Norvilla Burgess
1930-2013
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 20, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Alice Judith Norvilla Burgess, 82, of Staffordsville, who passed away Sunday, March 17 at Mountain Manor Nursing Home in Paintsville.
Mrs. Burgess was born July 16, 1930 in Paulsboro, N. J., daughter of the late Benjamin Boleslaw and Eleanor Ursule Bernisky Norvilla. She was a U. S. Navy veteran and a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Paul Norvilla; and three sisters, Mary Peterson, Adele Rand and Helen Norvilla.
Surviving are her husband, Harold Ernest Burgess Jr. of Staffordsville; three sons, Mark Alan Burgess and Bryan Harold (Mari) Burgess, both of Lexington, and Steven Wayne (Teresa) Burgess of Nippa; and seven grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Father Terence Hoppenjans, with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Alene Music
1931-2013
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 21, 11 a.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Alene Music, 81, of Denver, who passed away Monday, March 18 in Georgetown.
Mrs. Music was born April 17, 1931 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Earl and Mary Arms Spradlin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Music.
Surviving are two sons, Terry (Melinda) Music of Denver and Perry (Georgie) Music of Oil Springs; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the chapel all day Wednesday, March 20, and Thursday, March 21 until time of service.
The service will be officiated by Richard Williams and Danny Ward, with burial to follow in the Spradlin-Music cemetery at Denver.

Eyvind Dion Crum
1962-2013
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 20, 3 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Eyvind Dion Crum, 51, of Stanton, who passed away Monday, March 18 at Hospice Care Center in Lexington.
Mr. Crum was born Feb. 7, 1962 in Floyd County, son of Juanita Slone Crum of Van Lear, and the late Elmer Crum. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Rex Eugene Crum.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Joyce Hannah Crum of Stanton; two daughters, Cassidy and Jessica, both of Stanton; one brother, Mickey Crum of Van Lear; and two sisters, Dolores Yvonne Castle of West Van Lear, and Glenda Jean Ward of Hager Hill.
The service will be officiated by Joe Harmon and Bob Hutchinson, with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Emma Faye Rowland
1941-2013
Funeral services were held Monday, March 18, 11 a.m. at the Fish Trap United Baptist Church for Emma Faye Rowland, 72, of Volga, who passed away Thursday, March 14 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Mrs. Rowland was born Feb. 4, 1941 in Johnson County, daughter of the late George and Martha Pelphrey Salyer. She was retired from the Social Security Administration.
Surviving are her husband, Elmond Carl Rowland of Volga; one son, Barry (Melissa) Rowland of Staffordsville; one daughter, Janie (Richie) Pickle of Brendwood, Tenn.; four brothers, Clarence of Ashland, George Paul (Janet) of Flat Gap, Louie (Betty) of Sunberry, Ohio, and Winfred (Kaye) of Paintsville; four sisters, Ann (Dick) Barber and Orpha (Paul) Childers, both of Paintsville, Helen Keeton of Middlesboro, and Edna Williams of Oil Springs; and four grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Elders Sammy Reed and Frankie Williams, with burial in the Johnson County Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.

George Dutton
1924-2013
Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 23, 2 p.m. at Smith River cemetery in Smith River, Calif. for George Dutton, 88, of White Salmon,
Wash., who passed away Thursday, March 14 at Hood River, Ore.
Mr. Dutton was born Sept. 14, 1924 at River, son of the late John H. and Nelva Pack Dutton. He moved to Washington when he was 22. On August 12, 1946, he married
Juanita Conley in Morton. The couple moved to Smith River, where they resided until 1984, when they moved to White Salmon. He worked in the coal mines as a teenager in Kentucky and then joined the Civilian Conservation Corps., where he worked on Yellowstone National Park. He was a Union Laborer in Ohio, and worked as a logger in the Redwood Forest in California where he retired from Arcata Redwood.
George was the eighth child out of twelve. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita, in 1991 and his grandson, Robert Holland in 2012. He is survived by his sisters, Gracie Parker of Springfield, Ohio, and Ula Blevins of St. Paris, Ohio; children, Jerry L. Dutton of Smith River, Vic Solus of Gasquet, Calif., and Ginger London of White Salmon; five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
The greatest loves in Mr. Dutton痴 life were fishing, telling stories, singing and gardening.
Kenneth Eugene Rice
1946-2013
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 18, 1 p.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Kenneth Eugene Rice, 66, of East Point, who passed away Friday, March 15 at U. K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Mr. Rice was born Dec. 12, 1940 in Paintsville, son of the late Willard and Cloteen Clark Rice. He was a miner at the McCoy Elkhorn Mine.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy Mayo Rice of East Point; one son, Kenneth E. (Erica) Rice II of Prestonsburg; one brother, Robert Logan (Linda) Rice of Augusta; and one grandson.
The service was officiated by Pastor Todd Webb, with burial in the Gethsemane Gardens at Prestonsburg.
