Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 15, 1 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Edwinna Ward, 71, of Hager Hill, who passed away Saturday, Jan. 12 at Cabell Huntington Medical Center in Huntington, W. Va.
Mrs. Ward was born May 22, 1941 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Hobart and Mary B. Cantrell Hayes. She was also preceded in death by her son, Harold Douglas Ward Jr.
Surviving are her husband, Harold Boone Ward of Hager Hill; one daughter, Lisa Johnson of Pikeville; two brothers, Ronald Hayes of Paintsville, and Charles Hayes of Kingsport, Tenn.; two sisters, Doris Mollette of Paintsville, and Sharon Lee Brown of Richmond; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The service was officiated by Paul Badgett, with burial in the Gethsemane Gardens at Prestonsburg.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 14, 1 p.m. at the Tom’s Creek Free Will Baptist Church in Wittensville, for Gavin Lane Music, 3 days old, infant son of Chuck and Amy Jenkins Music, of Wittensville, who passed away Saturday, Jan. 12 at UK Medical Center in Lexington.
Surviving in addition to his parents are maternal grandparents, Debora and Larry James Arnett, Rocky Jenkins, Patricia Wireman; great-maternal-grand parents, Betty Jenkins, Ruth Clemons, all of Salyersville; paternal grandparents, Troy Lewis and Sonja Ganell VanHoose Music, both of Wittensville.
The service was officiated by James Kelly Caudill, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.

Muriel Webb Dutton
1927-2013
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 12, 10 a.m. at the Victory Hill Baptist Church in Miamisburg, Ohio, for Muriel Webb Dutton, 85, of Miamisburg, who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9 at her residence.
Mrs. Dutton was born Sept. 1, 1927 at East Point, daughter of the late McKinley and Bessie Lee Miller Webb. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Chester Dutton Sr.; three sons, William Chester Dutton Jr., Jimmie Clarence Dutton and McKinley Webb Dutton.
Surviving are her daughter, Ora Lee (Lance) Johnston of Miamisburg; three sisters, Estelline Martin of Chillicothe, Ohio, Kinelene Horn of Beavercreek, Adeline Stambaugh of Paintsville; and six grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Pastor Dolce “Butch” Mullins, with interment in the Calvary Cemetery.

Roslyn Hager Burchett
1932-2013
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 16, 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Prestonsburg, for Roslyn Hager Burchett, 80, of Prestonsburg, who passed away Sunday, Jan. 13 at her residence.
Mrs. Burchett was born Dec. 13, 1932 in Floyd County, daughter of the late Harry H. Hager and Priscilla Baldridge. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Carolyn Howard; and one brother, Bob Hager.
Surviving are her husband, Robert L. Burchett of Prestonsburg; one daughter, Diana (Neil) Turner of Prestonsburg; one son, Harry Lee (Sandra) Burchett of Nicholasville; two brothers, Paul C. Hager and David Hager; and four grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Dr. Jim Adams, with burial in the Richmond Memorial cemetery at Prestonsburg.

William Lindsay Trimble
1929-2013
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 13, 1 p.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel for William Lindsay Trimble, 83, of Staffordsville, who passed away Thursday, Jan. 10 at his residence.
Mr. Trimble was born May 23, 1929 in Johnson County, son of the late Boone and Rosa Lemaster Trimble. He was a retired supervisor with South Central Bell, and a U. S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Beulah McKenzie Trimble of Staffordsville; three sons, Danny (Kathy) Trimble of Staffordsville, Douglas (Wanda) Trimble of Frankfort, and Steve (Pam) Trimble of Van Lear; two brothers, Byron Douglas (Geneva) Trimble of Dayton, Ohio, and Danny B. Trimble of Shepherdsville; two sisters, Emogene Benson of Dayton, and Betty Rose Reed of Flat Gap; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Mike Trimble, David Trimble, Drew Trimble and Ben Wright, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Neva Carolyn Owens Kendle
1941-2013
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 11, 12 p.m. at the Staley-Strawser Funeral Home in Deer Park, Ohio, for Neva Carolyn Owens Kendle, 71, who passed away Saturday, Jan. 5 in Columbus, Ohio.
Mrs. Kendle was born Feb. 6, 1941 in Paintsville. She was a band director for Deer Park Schools; and a professor at the University of Hawaii and Tennessee State University.
Surviving are her husband, Richard Kendle; one daughter, Christina Misner (King) Pollard of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and one sister, Martha Hatcher of Central, S. C.
Burial will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Park.

Truman “Ditch Digger” Napier

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 11, 11 a.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Truman “Ditch Digger” Napier, 67, of Sitka, who passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mr. Napier was born Sept. 27, 1945 in Johnson County, son of Della Mullins Napier and the late Ervin Napier. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Napier.
Surviving in addition to his mother are three sons, Calvin Napier of Blaine, Ernie J. Napier of Sitka, and John Napier of Lakewood, Wash.; two daughters, Sherry Henson of Florence, and Rose Colvin of Flat Gap; two brothers, Menifee Napier of West Van Lear, and Ervin Napier of Thealka; four sisters, Rosa King of Lowmansville, Mary Mollette of Boonscamp, Ella Mae Harman of Thealka, and Nancy Drymon of Wittensville; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The service will be officiated by Tommy Meade, with burial to follow in the Johnson County Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.

Beatrice Long
1912-2013
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, 2 p.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home for Beatrice Long, 100, of Morehead, who passed away Sunday, Jan. 6 at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Mrs. Long was born Nov. 14, 1912 in Magoffin County, daughter of the late Telia Litteral. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Long; and one sister, Leona Rice. She was a business woman, a cosmetology instructor and operated the Morehead Beauty Academy for several years.
The service will be officiated by Gary Stephen Rice, with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 11 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home.

Griselda Brafford
1917-2013
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 11, 3 p.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Griselda Brafford, 96, of East Point, who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Mountain Manor Nursing Home in Paintsville.
Mrs. Brafford was born Jan. 4, 1917 in Virgie, daughter of the late Sherman and Verdansie Burke Meade. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Brafford.
Surviving are two sons, Charles Brafford of Paintsville, and James Brafford of Hurst, Texas; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Roger Hill, with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.
