Walter Castle Jr.
1928-2012
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 3, 11 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Walter Castle Jr., 83, of Stambaugh, who passed away Monday, Oct. 1 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Mr. Castle was born Nov. 25, 1928 in Johnson County, son of the late Walter Sr. and Hester Burchett Castle. He was an electrician; and a U. S. Air Force veteran. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Quentin Castle.
Surviving are his wife, Eloise Stapleton Castle of Stambaugh; four sons, Walter Edward “Eddie” Castle, And-rew (Amy) Castle, and Joseph (Jennifer) Castle, all of Stam-baugh, and James Casey (Van-essa) Castle of Wittensville; one sister, Opal Rice of Oil Springs; and six grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by John G. Pelphrey and Anthony Castle, with burial to follow at the family cemetery at Stambaugh.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Jerry Roger Stafford Sr.
1937-2012
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, 1 p.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church on Third St., Paintsville, for Jerry Roger Stafford Sr., 75, of Paintsville, who passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Mr. Stafford was born May 17, 1937 in Scioto County, Ohio, son of the late Ray and Emma Taylor Stafford.
Surviving are his wife, Bethel Smallwood Johnson Stafford; two sons, Terry R. (Jill) Stafford of Durham, N.C., and Jerry R. Stafford Jr. of Pikeville; one-step-son, Leroy Johnson Jr. of Staffordsville; two daughters, Shari (Herbert) Midkiff of Kenova, W.Va., and Anna Mae Stafford of Crossville, Tenn.; one step-daughter, Becki (John) Woods of Clay City; one brother, Tommy Michael (Kathy) Stafford of Chillicothe, Ohio; three sisters, Sara (James) Lowman of Latham, Ohio, Brenda (Junior) Music of Oyster Creek, Texas, Judy Groves of Chillicothe; 16 grandchildren and eight-great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Larry Blair and Toby Wheeler, with burial to follow in the Lakeview Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.
Arrangements under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Charles Lee Dills
2936-2012
Memorial services were held Sunday, Sept. 23, 1 p.m. at Kalmer Memorial Services in Lebanon, Ill. for Charles Lee Dills, 76, of Maryville, Ill., formerly of Belleville, Ill., who passed away Sat., Sept. 22 at Liberty Village in Maryville.
Mr. Dills was born Aug. 10, 1936 in Paintsville, son of the late Charles and Louis Faye Combs Dills. He was a retired Master Sergeant with the U. S. Air Force.
Surviving are his wife, Doris May Turner Dills; two daughters, Teresa (Richard) Sobieralski of Shiloh, Ill., and Carolyn Wirtel of Maryville; one son, Aaron Dills of Belleville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Arrangements under the direction of the Kalmer Memorial Services in Lebanon.

Evelyn Ruby Blair
1934-2012
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 27, 11 a.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Evelyn Ruby Blair, 78, of Hager Hill, who passed away Monday, Sept. 24.
Mrs. Blair was born July 20, 1934 at Offutt, daughter of the late David and Sally Dutton Prater. She was an assembly line operator at American Standard. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Blair.
Surviving are one son, James Estill Blair of Hager Hill; one daughter, Linda Kay Ousley of Blue River; two sisters, Imogene Pack and Earlene Devilbiss, both of Midway, Ohio.
The service was officiated by Ronnie Spriggs, with burial in the Johnson County Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.

Jessica Carol Morgan
1977-2012
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 18, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Jessica Carol Morgan, 35, of River, who passed away Friday, Sept. 14 at her residence.
Mrs. Morgan was born June 28, 1977 in Floyd County, daughter of David and Darlena Blevins Hitchcock of River.
Surviving in addition to her parents are one son, Chase Andrew Hitchcock; and one daughter, Caitlin Olivia Morgan, both of River; one brother, David Keith Hitchcock of Magoffin County; and her paternal grandmother, Anna Jewel Hitchcock of Paintsville.
The service was officiated by Wendell Ison and James Kelly Caudill, with burial in the Staffordsville Church cemetery at Staffordsville.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Violet G. Wilcox Skaggs
1927-2012
Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 23, 2 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Violet G. Wilcox Skaggs, 85, of Lowmansville, who passed away Thursday, Sept. 20 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mrs. Skaggs was born March 5, 1927 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Everett and Grace Stanley Wilcox. She was a retired postmistress at the Lowmansville Post Office. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Buell Skaggs; one brother, Everett Edward Wilcox; one sister, Jean Conley; and one granddaughter, Tina Jennings.
Surviving are two sons, John (Frances) Skaggs and Keith (Lynn) Skaggs, both of Lowmansville; one daughter, Sandra Lynn Jennings of Napoleon, Ohio; three sisters, Phoebe (Junior) Womack of Wittensville, Helen Stricklin of Mansfield, Ohio, and Opal (James) Chandler of Springfield, Ohio; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Bill Staten and John Skaggs, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Brenda Sue Fairchild
1949-2012
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 19, 1 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Brenda Sue Fairchild, 63, of Paintsville, who passed away Sunday, Sept. 16 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Mrs. Fairchild was born March 27, 1949 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Roby and Tillie Castle Meade. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Fairchild.
Surviving are one son, Roby (Beth) Meadows; two daughters, Jennifer Meadows and Angie Smith; one step-son, Aaron Fairchild; two sisters, Dina Handshoe and Connie (Rodney) Stocker; and two grandsons.
The service will be officiated by Bruce Aaron Davis and David Powers, with burial in the Castle Family cemetery at Tutor Key.

Harry J. Crawford
On Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, Harry J. Crawford, went to join the love of his life, Mary Casello Crawford. Loving father of James (Raymeta), David (Tracy), Annette (Joseph) DiDiano, Kenneth (Alta), Patricia Crawford and Mary (Bernard Glesky) Crawford; grandfather of Angelina (Ricky) Daily, Casey (Nicole) Crawford, Nicole DiDiano, Cory Crawford, Carmen (Maria) Lazzaro and John Paul (Caitlyn) Lazzaro; great-grandfather of Ricky Daily, Hailey Grace Crawford, Marayna Lazzaro, Noah Crawford and Mia Rosa Lazzaro; and also Papap to Madison, Nathan, Amanda, Rebecca, Christy, Bryce and Kaylee; nephew of Gertrude (Joseph) Curigliano. Harry was also loved by extended family and many friends, near and far. He was a proud WWII Navy veteran. Friends were received at Wolfe Memorial, Inc., Forest Hills Chapel, 3604 Greensburg Pike, (412) 731-5001, Monday 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial, St. James Church, Wednesday 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James Church, 718 Franklin Ave., Wilkinsburg, PA 15221 or Hezekiah’s Hands, 5 Court St., Towanda, PA 18848.

Lillian Jackson
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 19, 11 a.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel for Lillian Jackson, 66, of Pikeville, who passed away Monday, Sept. 17 in Pikeville.
Ms. Jackson was born Nov. 1, 1945 at Riceville, daughter of the late Everett and Velva Gibson Jackson.
Surviving are three brothers, James and Keith Jackson, both of Riceville, and Wayne Jackson of Michigan; three sisters, Hilda Jackson and Virginia Sue Naylor, both of Pikeville, and Wanda Jackson of Riceville.
The service will be officiated by Edd May, with burial to follow in the Jackson Family cemetery at Riceville.
