Graveside services were held Tuesday, Oct. 9, 12 p.m. at the at the Nelson Family cemetery in Prestonsburg, for Pep Prater, 68, of Paintsville, who passed away Thursday, October 4 at Mountain View Health Care Center.
Mr. Prater was born June 24, 1944 in Floyd County, son of the late Wayne and Clara Anna Whitaker Prater. He was retired from American Standard.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Shelba Jean Nelson Prater. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
The service was officiated by Pastor Tommy Reed.

Paul ‘Pook’ Edward Lockwood
1929-2012
Graveside services were held Monday, Oct. 8, 1 p.m. at the Kavanaugh cemetery at Kavanaugh for Paul “Pook” Edward Lockwood, 82, of Paintsville, who passed away Thursday, Oct. 4 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Mr. Lockwood was born Oct. 28, 1929 in Johnson County, son of the late Bernard G. and Bessie Truman Lockwood. He was a U. S. Army veteran and retired from Armco Steel. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Dick Lockwood; and one sister, Doris Griffith.
Surviving are his wife, Dorlene Wells Lockwood of Paintsville; two daughters, Madonna Sue (Danny) Wells of Paintsville, and Paula (Kevin) Cotton of Harrodsburg; one brother, Vernon Lockwood of Lexington; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Wesley Stedtefeld.

Betty Lou StambaughBurchett Williams

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Oct. 7, 11 a.m. at the Sitka Free Will Baptist Church at Sitka, for Betty Lou Stambaugh Burchett Williams, 82, who passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3 at her residence.
Mrs. Williams was born March 19, 1930 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Albert Stambaugh and Murrah Preston. She was a retired business owner.
Surviving are four sons, Greg Burchett of Staffordsville, Stan Burchett of Stambaugh, Randy Burchett of Paintsville, and Corey Williams of Bright, Ind.; two daughters, Trudy Turner and Robin Phinney, both of Staffordsville; one sister, Sybil Jeanette Henderson of Pine Bluff, Ark.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Jimmy McKenzie, Larry Blair and Gilbert Music, with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Mary Pauline Biggs Trimble
1923-2012
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Oct. 7, 11 a.m. at the George’s Creek United Baptist Church in Lowmansville, for Mary Pauline Biggs Trimble, 89, of River, who passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3 at Mountain Manor in Paintsville.
Mrs. Trimble was born Jan. 30, 1923 in Carter County, daughter of the late Joseph and Carnellia Evans Biggs. She was a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elder Kenneth Archer Trimble.
Surviving are one daughter, Helen Kay (Russell) Castle of River; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Elders Paul Keith Castle, Jerry Colvin and Bernard Johnson, with burial to follow in the Trimble Family cemetery at Staffordsville.

Harold Gene Coleman

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 29, 11 a.m. at the Southside Free Will Baptist Church in Paintsville, for Harold Gene Coleman, 77, of Paintsville, who passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26 at his residence.
Mr. Coleman was born Feb. 15, 1935 in Pike County, son of the late Charles and Lenora Price Coleman. He was a self-employed contractor. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, George Martin “Bud” and James Coleman.
Surviving are his wife, Adella Somerville Coleman of Paintsville; one son, Gary Gene (Connie) Coleman of Paintsville; one daughter, Valerie (Todd) Cowley of Elkview, W.Va.; two brothers, Norman Charles Coleman Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, and Paul David Coleman of Paintsville; five sisters, Janet Branham, Sue Ryan, and Ora Lee Reese, all of Columbus, Mary Salyer of Hager Hill, and Kaye MaHaffy of Carlisle, Ohio; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The service was officiated by Wayne Price, Larry Smith and Paul David Coleman, with burial in the Mayo cemetery in Paintsville.

Jackie Ernest “Spiderjack” Kestner

Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 27, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Jackie Ernest “Spiderjack” Kestner, 51, of Paintsville, who passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25 at his residence.
Mr. Kestner was born July 19, 1961 in Johnson County, son of the late Fonnie and Eliza Jane Castle Kestner. He was a truck driver. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Kestner; and one sister, Diane Kestner.
Surviving are one son, Jackie Kestner Jr. of Sitka; one daughter, Cassondra Kest-ner of Sitka; two step-daughters, Ericca Blair of Jenny’s Creek, and Tiffany Blair of Charleston, W.Va.; four brothers, Sam Kestner of Flat Gap, Leroy and James Kestner, both of East Point, and Gary Kestner of Iowa; four sisters, Shirley Whitt of Morgan Cou-nty, Wanda Shep-herd Michigan, Kathy Blair of East Point, and Brenda Marshall of Tennessee.
The service was officiated by Jimmy McKenzie, with burial in the Davis cemetery at Sitka.

Lorraine Stambaugh Stapleton

Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 23, 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Paintsville, for Lorraine Stambaugh Stapleton, 96, who passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Mrs. Stapleton was born Sept. 19, 1916 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Cam Hagerman and Elizabeth Walters Stambaugh. She was a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Davis B. Stapleton; one daughter, Jeanne Spurlock; one brother, Marshall Williamson; and one sister, Vivian Branham.
Surviving are one brother, John Morgan “Pete” Stam-baugh of Ashland; and son-in-law, Burl Wells Spurlock of Prestonsburg; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Wesley Stedtefeld, with entombment at the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Virgie Parsons Hall

Virgie Parsons Hall, age 85, of Thelma, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg. She was born Sept. 1, 1927 in Blue Moon, daughter of the late Sidney and Gertrude Kidd Parsons. She was a homemaker and a member of the Prestonsburg Church of Christ.
Virgie is survived by one son, Stanley (Sharon Kaye) Neece of Harold; two daughters, Linda Lyon of Thelma and Henrietta (James “Bud”) Orsborn of Auxier; two step-sons, Cledas Hall of Clyde, Ohio and Charles Hall of Wellington; two step-daughters, Brenda Hall and Catherine Baker, both of Harold; two sisters, Doris Tackett of Alger, Ohio, and Florida Tackett of Lexington; one brother, Millard Parsons of Harold; nine grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Virgie was preceded in death by her first husband, Willard Niece; second husband, Stal-lard Hall; two sons, Russell Niece and Phillip Dale Niece; one sister, Loraine Skeans; and three brothers, Lester Parsons, Estill “Buster” Parsons, and Phillip Parsons.
Funeral services for Virgie Parsons Hall were held Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Prestonsburg Church of Christ, Prestonsburg, with Rick Kelley and Vernon Hall officiating. Burial followed in the Bush Cemetery, Harold.

Virginia Combs Wells McCloud
1926-2012
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 26, 1 p.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Virginia Combs Wells McCloud, 86, of West Van Lear, who passed away Sunday, Sept. 23 at Riverview Nursing Home.
Mrs. McCloud was born Aug. 20, 1926 in Paintsville, daughter of the late Carew and Virgie Butcher Combs. She was a member of the Van Lear Free Will Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elijah McCloud.
Surviving are one son, Emery Wells of Tennessee; two daughters, Reva Grim of Louisa, and Anna Moffett of Ypsilanti, Mich.; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Harry Neal Frisby, with burial in the Wells and Salyers cemetery at Hager Hill.
