Funeral services will be held Friday, July 27, 12 p.m. at the Hurricane United Baptist Church for Earl Doug Preston, 63, of Boons Camp, who passed away Tuesday, July 24 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mr. Preston was born July 23, 1949 in Paintsville, son of the late Earl and Edna Butcher Preston. He was a carpet installer with Sturgill’s Furniture. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Baldridge Preston.
Surviving are one son, Wayne Douglas Preston of Boons Camp; two brothers, Lonnie Joe Preston of Boons Camp and Robert Preston of Tomahawk; and two sisters, Alice Daniels of Boons Camp and Rhonda Preston of Tomahawk.
The service will be officiated by David Baldwin, Phillip Caudill, and Claude Mollett, with burial in the Preston Family cemetery at Boons Camp.
Arrangements under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Marlene ‘Marty’ Ross
1941-2012
Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 28, 2 p.m. at the Skaggstown Church cemetery at Flat Gap, for Marlene “Mary” Ross, 70, of Wittensville, who passed away Tuesday, July 17 at her residence.
Mrs. Ross was born Sept. 27, 1941 in Johnson County, daughter of the late John Wesley and Vesty Evans Sparks. She was a secretary.
Surviving are one son, Anthony Ross of Lexington; one daughter, Amy Alsip of Wittensville; step-daughter, Lisa Strictland of Lexington; one step-son, Jeremy Wells of Paintsville; one sister, Sondra Mulkey of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren.
Arrangements under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Hayes Ramey Jr
1929-2012
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 25, 1 p.m. at the Van Lear Free Will Baptist Church for Hayes Ramey Jr., 83, of Van Lear, who passed away Sunday, July 22 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Mr. Ramey was born May 22, 1929 in Johnson County, son of the late Hayes Ramey Sr. and Martha Music Ramey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Ramey; and two sisters, Billie Collins and Helen Hill. He was a coal miner and a Korean War veteran.
Surviving are four sons, Hayes Ramey III, Curt Dean Ramey, Jerry Ramey and Eddie Ramey, all of Van Lear; two daughters, Brenda Keathley and Evelyn Joyce Blevins, both of Van Lear; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Roger Hill and Mike Jarrell, with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.
Arrangements under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Aileen Dixon
1922-2012
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 25, 11 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Aileen Dixon, 90, of Paintsville, who passed away Sunday, July 22 at Mountain Manor Nursing Home in Paintsville.
Mrs. Dixon was born June 20, 1922 in Dorr, Mich., daughter of the late Irving and Marion Young Frary. She was a secretary. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Garland Dixon.
Surviving are two sons, Roger D. (Carolyn) Dixon of Hopkins, Mich., and Kenneth R. (Gale) Dixon of Loveland, Ohio; one brother, Irving Frary of Lexington; one sister, Donna Dansvelt of Dorr; four grandchildren, James Garland Dixon, Dana Walsworth, Melissa Dixon, and MeChelle Gopinathan; six great-grandchildren, Bradley and Marcus Dixon, Adam and Eric Walsworth and Logan and Lilli Gopinathan; one niece, Marcia Helton; one great-niece, Charla Helton; and brother-in-law, Harold Hulst of Holland, Mich.
The service will be officiated by Ken Spurrier, with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Charlene Blanton
1950-2012
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 25, 11 a.m. at the Community Pentecostal Trinity Church for Charlene Blanton, 61, of River, who passed away Sunday, July 22.
Mrs. Blanton was born Oct. 10, 1950 in Paintsville, daughter of Jewell Jackson Blanton and the late Melvin Blanton. She was a secretary at Wright’s Lumber Co. and a member of the Trinity Holiness Tabernacle Church.
Surviving in addition to her mother, are her husband, Danny B. Blanton of Paintsville; one son, Aaron Osborne of Cumberland; three brothers, Donald Blanton of Columbus, Ohio, Michael Blanton of Oil Springs, and David Allen Blanton of Richmond; four sisters, Connie Lee May of Springfield, Ohio, Penny Kay Jackson and Jackie Puckett, both of Salyersville, and Tena Niece of Oil Springs, and three grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Phillip Puckett and Billy Conn, with burial in the Blanton cemetery at Oil Springs.

David Fields
1951-2012
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 22, 1 p.m. at Jones-Preston Funeral Home for David Fields, 60, of Thelma, who passed away Friday, July 20 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mr. Fields was born Aug. 18, 1951 in Wyandotte, Mich., son of the late Carl and Lola Adams Fields.
Surviving are one brother, Dean (Evia) Fields of Thelma; one nephew; one great-nephew and one great-niece.
The service was officiated by Roger VanHoose, with burial in the Lakeview Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.

Jerry Brickley
1941-2012
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 24, 1 p.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Jerry Brickley, 71, of Hager Hill, who passed away Saturday, July 21 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mr. Brickley was born June 15, 1941 in Hocking County, Ohio, son of the late Charles and Mary Beougher Brickley. He was a retired Army veteran; and a member of the Collista Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife, Deloris A. Castle Brickley of Hager Hill.
The service was officiated by Toby Johnson, Jim McKenzie, and Marvin Adkins, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

James Anthony ‘Bear’ Jude
1982-2012
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 12, 1 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for James Anthony “Bear” Jude, 29, who passed away Thursday, Sept. 6 at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Mr. Jude was born Sept. 23, 1982 in Ashland, son of James Arthur Jude of Inez and Sheila Preece (John) Workman of Debord. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Walker Preece; paternal grandfather, Jeff Jude.
Surviving in addition to his parents are two daughters, Savannah Paige Jude of Wayne, W. Va., and Elizabeth McKenzie Jude of Ohio; maternal grandmother, Olive Newsome Preece of Debord; paternal grandmother, Carma Jude of Paintsville; one brother, Johnathon Jude of Inez; and two sisters, Brandy Fletcher of Inez, and Crystal Wright of Paintsville.
The service will be officiated by Tim McCoy, with burial to follow in the Preece Family cemetery at Offutt.

John William Slone
1947-2012
Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 9, 2 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel for John William Slone, 65, of Van Lear, who passed away Wednesday, Sept. 5 at his residence.
Mr. Slone was born Jan. 26, 1947 in Prestonsburg, son of the late Tommy and Alice Prater Slone. He was a former construction worker with Goggans Construction Co. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Kathryn Johnson, Sarah Virginia and Debra Lyn Slone; four brothers, Paul D. Slone, Tommy Slone Jr., Charles Edward Slone and Gene Autry Slone.
Surviving are his wife, Debra L. Siler Slone of Van Lear; four children, John David Ropp, Misty Lynn Slone Delgado, Johnna Renae Slone and Bethany Glynn Slone; four brothers, Herman Slone, George Slone, Gary Slone, and Oscar Slone; four sisters, Winnie Keathley, Ella Sammons, Garnett Oldfather, and Marie Lafferty; and seven grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Carl Murray, with burial in the Weddington cemetery at Prestonsburg.
