Funeral services will be held Friday, May 4, 11 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Dorothy Goble Sherman, 86, of Florida, who passed away Friday, April 27 at Promise Hospital of Florida at the Villages in Oxford, Fla.
Mrs. Sherman was born June 19, 1925 in Floyd County, daughter of the late John W. and Belle Harless Goble. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry D. Sherman; two sons, Thomas Ray and Larry Sherman; one daughter, Deborah Sherman; and one granddaughter, Carri Sherman.
Surviving are one son, Gary Sherman of Ypsilanti, Mich.; one brother, Billy Goble of Hazard; two sisters, Patsy Houry of Ypsilanti, and LaDonna (Robert) Settles of Ivel.
The service will be officiated by B. Joe Hill, with burial in the Sherman cemetery at Thealka.

She will be missed by family and friends.
Flossie Vida Berry Ward
1923-2012
Funeral services were held Monday, April 30, 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Paintsville, for Flossie Vida Berry Ward, 88, of Paintsville, who passed away Thursday, April 26 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mrs. Ward was born July 4, 1923 in Cabell County, W. Va., daughter of the late Creath and Ida Lovejoy Berry. She had been a secretary at the Paintsville Board of Education. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Max Louis Ward; her daughter, Susie Ward; one brother, Casey Berry; and one sister, Helen Berry Eckert.
Surviving are two sons, Gregory Max Ward of El Paso, Texas, and Berry Joe (Debbie) Ward of Paintsville; one brother, Clyde Berry of Old Hickory, Tenn.; two sisters, Juanita Berry White of Summerville, S. C., and Ruth Berry Young of Pawley’s Island, S. C.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Ken Spurrier, with burial in the Rome cemetery at Proctorville, Ohio.

Jimmy Ray McCarty

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 1, 1 p.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Jimmy Ray McCarty, 58, of Hager Hill, who passed away Friday, April 27 in Morgan County.
Mr. McCarty was born Dec. 17, 1953, son of the late Manford and Joy Williams McCarty. He was a concrete worker with Adams Construction.
Surviving are his wife, Linda McCarty; three brothers, Charles, James and Jeff McCarty, all of Hager Hill; two sisters, Joyce Craft of Marion, Ohio, and Rosie Grubb of Columbus, Ohio.
The service was officiated by Marvin Adkins and Toby Johnson, with burial in the McCarty cemetery at Hager Hill.
Brenna Charlote Williams
1951-2012
Memorial services will be announced later for Brenna Charlote Williams, 61, of Loudon County, Tenn., who passed away Wednesday, April 25, in Loudon County.
Ms. Williams was born in Johnson County, daughter of Freda Daniel Williams (Albert J.) Bell, and the late James Wallace Williams Sr. She was a 1966 graduate of Flat Gap High School and attended the universities of Kentucky and Tennessee.
She was also preceded in death by her grandmother, Vina Meek Simpson.
Surviving in addition to her mother are three sons, Jerry Michael Jr. (Manderley) Swain and Norman E. Lettieri, and Shannon Harmon; two brothers, Jim (Carolyn) Williams and Bruce (Miriam) Williams; one sister, Vina Carol Williams (Guy) George; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The service will be officiated by the Rev. Carol E. Westpfahl at the St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 2, 11 a.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Paintsville, for Nell C. Music, 93, of Van Lear, who passed away Sunday, April 29 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Mrs. Music was born Feb. 6, 1919 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Sam and Lillia Conley Crider. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Music.
Surviving are two sons, Rick (Kathy) Music of Lexington, and Jack (Patty) Music of Lewisburg, Ohio; two daughters, Marsha (Rick) Cantrell of Van Lear, and Janice (Melvin) Swain of East Point; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
The service will be officiated by B. Joe Hill, with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 2, 1 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for John (Big John) Meade, 46, of Paintsville, who passed away Sunday, April 29 in Paintsville.
Mr. Meade was born Aug. 27, 1965 in Johnson County, son of Garnett Williamson Meade and the late George Meade.
Surviving in addition to his mother are two sons, Eli and Zach Meade, both of Paintsville; and one brother, George Meade Jr. of Whitehouse.
The service will be officiated by Tommy Meade and Bryan Auxier, with burial in the Wilson Family cemetery at Boons Camp.

Mary Alice Castle Arms

Funeral services were held Monday, April 23, 2 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Mary Alice Castle Arms, 71, of Oil Springs, who passed away Friday, April 20 at her residence.
Mrs. Arms was born Feb. 15, 1941 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Jayola and Catherine Stambaugh Castle. She was a factory worker.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Newte and Jimmy Castle; four sisters, Madge Roberts, Marie Lowe, Lizzie Fannin, and Betty Borders; and one grandson, Justin Bernett Arms.
Surviving are her husband, Bernett Arms of Oil Springs; one son, Johnny Sizemore of Oil Springs; three daughters, Edna Blanton of Oil Springs, Berniece Fitzpatrick of Asa Creek, and Tammie Click of Swamp Branch; one sister, Shirley Wiley of Van Lear; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Joe Scott and Roger Thornsbury, with burial in the Arms cemetery at Oil Springs.

Novadean Ridenour Hamilton

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 25, 10 a.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home in Wabash, Ind., for Novadean Ridenour Hamilton, 72, of Richmond, who passed away Friday, April 20 at Kenwood Health and Rehab in Richmond.
Mrs. Hamilton was born March 18, 1940 in Wabash, daughter of the late Millard and Bernice Anson Ridenour. She was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of America and a former member of Pleasant Valley Rebekah Lodge of Paintsville.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hamilton; and an uncle, Orval Anson.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna Hamilton of Richmond; a step-son, Terry Hamilton; step-daughter, Debbie Brackett Beeks, both of Wabash; and other relatives, Dora (Paul) Daniel and Helen Welch, both of Paintsville.
The service will be officiated by Joseph Ridenour, with burial in the Friends Cemetery.
