Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 12, 12 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Wesley Lewis O’Brian, 62, of Paintsville, who passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10 at his residence.
Mr. O’Brian was born March 13, 1949 in Johnson County, son of the late Richard Lee and Alma Blevins O’Brian. He was a grounds maintenance worker with the Paintsville Golf Course; and a U.S. Army veteran.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Edgar Lee O’Brian; and one sister, Alma Mae Stambaugh.
Surviving are his wife, Alma Scarberry O’Brian of Paintsville; two sons, Jason O’Brian of Lawrence County, and Wesley Richard O’Brian of Van Lear; six brothers, Henry Lee O’Brian of Paintsville, Nicky Leonard O’Brian of Sitka, Elbert and Jimmy Ray O’Brian, both of Wittensville; Scotty Patrick O’Brian of Thealka, and Ricky Harrison O’Brian of Clay City; three sisters, Sondra Kay Bowens of Staffordsville, Dona Sue Poe of Paintsville, and Bethal Gertrude Howard of Lowmansville; and seven grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Frankie Fitch and Joe Adkins, with burial in the Lakeview Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.

Clyde Patrick
1938-2012
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, 1 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Clyde Patrick, 73, of Wittensville, who passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10 at his residence.
Mr. Patrick was born Nov. 17, 1938 in Johnson County, son of the late Bradley and Marry Burchett Patrick.
Surviving are his wife, Arlene Slone Patrick of Wittensville; two sons, Kevin and Todd Patrick, both of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Henry Patrick of Paintsville; and one sister, Myrtle Caudill of Wittensville.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 13, 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The service will be officiated by James Kelly Caudill, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Madlyn J. May Evans
1952-2012
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 18, 12 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Madlyn J. May Evans, 59, of Van Lear, who passed away Sunday, Jan. 15 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville.
Mrs. Evans was born Dec. 7, 1952 in Johnson County, daughter of Marie Joseph May Derossett of Van Lear, and the late Charles Ray May.
She had been a fork lift operator with American Standard.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, William May.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, David Evans; three daughters, Betsy Newsome, Jaime Coleman, and Robyn Hall, all of Van Lear; one brother, Charles Ray May Jr. of Paintsville; and five grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Chester Keathley, with burial to follow in the Gethsemane Gardens at Prestonsburg.

Clyde Patrick

William “Bill” Herald
1924-2012
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 12, 1 p.m. at the Community United Methodist Church in Prestonsburg, for William “Bill” Herald, 87, of Paintsville, who passed away
Monday, Jan. 9 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville. Mr. Herald was born Nov. 2, 1924 In Floyd County, son of the late William Douglas and Allie Calhoun Herald. He was also preceded in death by one son, Gary Thomas Herald; and one sister, Ellen Herald Horn.
He was a U. S. veteran and a former foreman for Kentucky-West Virginia Gas. Surviving are his wife, Josephine Scutchfield Herald of Paintsville; one son, Larry (Karen) Herald of Staffordsville; three grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. The service was officiated by Rev. John Shroll with burial in the family cemetery at Prestonsburg.

Jake Runyon Jr.
1944-2012
Military honors were conducted Sunday, Jan. 8 at the Phelps and Son Funeral Home, for Jake Runyon Jr., who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4. He entered the U.S. Army June 18, 1968, and served in Vietnam. He attained rank of Sgt. E-5 and was awarded the National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service
medal, Vietnam Campaign medal and good conduct medal.
Chapter 15, Disabled Veterans of America, commanded by Henry Joseph, and presided over by Chaplain Jim Perry, conducted the service. Veterans in attendance: Wayne Jenkins, Bill Caudill, Mike Blanton, Todd Preston, A.B. Gose, Michael Fox, Ernie Kelly, Bill Lewis, Ray Shepherd, Willard Risner, Walter Tackett, and Gary Miller.
Jimmy Roger Daniels
1952-2012
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 9, 1 p.m. at the Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home Chapel for Jimmy Roger Daniels, 59, of West Liberty, who passed away Thursday, Jan. 5 at M. C. A. R. Hospital in West Liberty.
Mr. Daniels was born June 1, 1952, son of Thirel and Mondell Cantrell Daniels of West Liberty. He was a licensed boilermaker and electrician; and a graduate from Morehead State University with a degree in agriculture.
He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Walter and Mintie Daniel; and maternal grandparents, Parrell and Myrtle Cantrell. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Crystal Lynn Daniels of West Liberty; five children, Justin (Nicole) Daniels of West Liberty, Heather (Chad) Rudd of Maytown, Valerie (Leslie) Williams of Dan Ridge, Christopher (Emily) Daniels of Camargo, and Robert Daniels of Prestonsburg; and six grandchildren.
Masonic rites were held Sunday, Jan. 8, 7:30 p.m. by Elkfork Lodge F & AM #755. The service was officiated by Bros. Jimmy Adkins, Kenny Gevedon, Darrell Back and Rev. Jesse Lee Ball

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 10, 1 p.m. at the
Chestnut Grove Enterprise Baptist Church in Lowmansville, for Jesse Lee Ball, 46, of River, who passed away Friday, Jan. 6. Mr. Ball was born Aug. 29, 1965 in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Jesse and Beatrice Daniels Ball. He was a diesel mechanic with C. T. Coal Co. Surviving are three daughters, Casey Meade of Lowmansville, and Teresa Ball and Jessy Lynn Ball, both of Huntington, W.Va.; one brother, Johnny Ball of Jacksonville, N. C.; three sisters, Annetta Thompson, Shirley Shackleton, and Bonnie Osborne, all of

Herb Ratliff

Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville. Mr. Ratliff was born Aug. 3, 1939 in Johnson County, son of the late Elmer and Roberta Cantrell Ratliff. Robert Lee Murray
1926-2012
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 9, 10 a.m. at the Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar and Fraley Funeral Home in New Carlisle, Ohio, for Robert Lee Murray, 85, of Xenia, Ohio, who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4 at Miami Valley Hospital.
Mr. Murray was born April 6, 1926 at Meally, son of the late Arby and Anna Lee Preston Murray. He was a WWII Army veteran (83rd Infantry); retired from General Motors; an ordained minister; and a member of the Brushy Fork United Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Arnie, Arvin, John and Samuel Murray.
