Walter Thomas Duty, 52, of Boons Camp, passed away Thursday, Nov. 17 at his residence.
Mr. Duty was born Aug. 23, 1959 in Johnson County, son of the late Russell and Georgene Adams Duty.
Surviving are one son, Spencer Duty of Boons Camp; four daughters, Vivian Duty of Paintsville, Georgene Caudill of Fort Carson, Colo., Dawn Wells of Ormond, Fla., and Haley Duty of Boons Camp; two brothers, Larry Duty of Van Lear, and Jack Duty of Blacksburg, Va., ; two sisters, Judy Ward of Van Lear, and Marie Rowland of Stanton; and four grandchildren.

Crate McCarty
1939-2011
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 18, 1 p.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Crate McCarty, 72, of Hager HIll, who passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Mr. McCarty was born July 19, 1939 in Paintsville, son of the late Manford and Joy Williams McCarty. He was retired from the Johnson County School system.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Louise Baldwin McCarty.
Surviving are three sons, William Ralph McCarty of Thelma, Timothy Crate McCarty of Decatur, Tenn., and Jesse Scott McCarty of Hager Hill; one daughter, Diana Smith of Boons Camp; four brothers, Charles O., Jim, James, and Jeff McCarty, all of Hager Hill; one half-brother, Elvis McCarty of Inez; two sisters, Joyce Ann Craft of Marion, Ohio, and Rosie Grubb of Columbus; one half-sister, Maddie Welch of Hager Hill; fiancée, Pamela Lynn Tackett; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Marvin Adkins and Toby Johnson, with burial following in the McCarty Family cemetery at Hager Hill.

Flora Gertrude (Gertie, Trudy) Bradfield
1931-2011
Greatly loved and admired mother, sister, and friend, passed on Nov. 7, 2011 from injuries sustained in a car accident.
She is survived by a son, Joseph Honeycutt of Florence; two daughters, Christina Callen of Walton, and Candace Dun of Cincinnati, Ohio. Also left to mourn her loss are her brothers, Charles and James Combs, and Greg and Mike Pelphrey; sisters, Martha Preston and Agnes Combs and their families. She was blessed with six grandchildren, James A. Dean, Joseph P. Martin, Michael S. Martin, Kelcie Conley and Joseph Dun; two great-grandchildren, Sylas Grey Martin and Finnegan Martin; and many dear nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her oldest son, Ted E. Honeycutt, in 2005.
A celebration of her life will be held for all family, friends, and neighbors on Friday, Nov. 18, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Dearborn Room at the Holiday Inn Airport, Erlanger.

James F. Chandler
1924-2011
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, 1 p.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel for James F. Chandler, 86, of Johnson City, Tenn., formerly of Paintsville, who passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15 in Tennessee.
Mr. Chandler was born Dec. 31, 1924 in Johnson County, son of the late Frank and Mary Jane Hamilton Chandler. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Julie Mary Williams Chandler.
He was a retired teacher for Paintsville Independent School; and a WWII Veteran.
Surviving are three step-sons, Mark Williams of Palm Beach, Fla., Michael Williams of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Vincent Williams of Winter Haven, Fla.; one step-daughter, Jeni Meredith of Johnson City; seven step-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in the Wells-Buckingham cemetery in Paintsville.

Verlie Belle (Spencer) Myers
Verlie Belle (Spencer) Myers, age 70, of Pierceton, Ind., passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011 in Parkview-Whitley Hospital in Columbia City, Ind.
On February 13, 1941, Verlie was born to Lizzie (Spencer) Castle in Paintsville, Ky. She married
Larry L. Myers on May 18, 1982 in Wooster. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2010.
Verlie was a longtime resident of Kosciusko County. She owned and operated Belle's Countryside Day Care for 30 years. She made loving and caring for others her life. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends very much. Verlie enjoyed going to Blue Chip Casino in her spare time.
She is survived by three daughters; Reece (and spouse, Mark) Morris, Kathy (and spouse, Virgil) Hale and Lisa (and spouse, Ron) Parrett all of Pierceton; two sons, James W. Poe, Pierceton, and Thomas (and spouse Lorrie) Myers, Pierceton; 12 grandchildren, Shanon, Andy, Michael, Fallon, James, Edna Mae, Ruby, Connie, Gavin, Mahkinsey, Keith and Kati; 17 great-grandchildren, Skye, Kendra, Corbyn, Jocelyn, Mason, Katrina, Delanie, Elizabeth, Trace, Katelynn, Emilee, Alexzandria, Shieann, Tyler, Isaiah, Tristan, Lucas and one on the way; a daughter-in-law, Kathie Poe, Pierceton; one brother, Tom (and spouse, Marlene) Castle, Lawrenceburg, Ky.; two sisters, Kay Blair, Paintsville, Ky., and Molly (and spouse, Frank) Fitch, Georgetown, Ky.; one nephew, Todd; and two nieces, Missie and Katie.
Verlie was also preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation hours will be from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, November 17, 2011 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton.
Funeral services will be held at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton, on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. with Frank Fitch officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Pierceton Fire Department or American Cancer Society.

David Blanton
1940-2011
Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 3, 11 a.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel for David Blanton, 71, of Cynthiana, who passed away Monday, Oct. 31.
Mr. Blanton was born Oct. 19, 1940 in Thelma, son of the late Mason and Emma Childers Blanton. He was a retired construction worker.
Surviving are his wife, Liz Gatliff Blanton; three sons, Todd Allen Blanton of Sadieville, Joseph Scott Blanton of Cynthiana, and David Bryan Blanton of Lawrence, Kan.; one brother, Robert Blanton of Thelma; three sisters, Helen Stafford of Van Lear, Betty Carr of South Carolina, and Katherine Butcher of Shelby, Ohio; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Joe Scott.

Arlie David Lykins
1953-2011
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 16, 11 a.m. at the Northcutt & Son Funeral Home in Morehead, for Arlie David Lykins, 57, of Morehead, who passed away Sunday, Nov. 13.
Mr. Lykins was born Nov. 27, 1953 in Johnson County, son of Louedith Conley Lykins Litton of Morehead, and the late Arlie Lykins. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Terry Howard Lykins.
Mr. Lykins was a self-employed contractor and heavy equipment operator.
Surviving in addition to his mother are, one daughter, Lakita Lykins (Kevin) Newsom of Auburn, Ala.; four sisters, Vivian (Carter) Conley of Salyersville, Sue (Gary) Ferguson of Flat Gap, Gaye (Mike) Harmon of Owingsville, and Cristy (Tom) Copley of Louisa.
The service will be officiated by the Revs. Winston McClurg and Billy Harmon, with burial following in the Conley cemetery at Oil Springs.

James Kenneth Davis
1947-2011
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 14, 2 p.m. at the Hager Hill Free Will Baptist Church for James Kenneth Davis, 64, of Hager Hill, who passed away Friday, Nov. 11 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mr. Davis was born Aug. 7, 1947 in Wyoming County, W.Va., son of the late Ivan and Dorothy Marie Smith Davis. He was a night watchman for Highland Tire Company.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Wells Davis of Hager Hill; one son, Darvin Lee Davis of Hager Hill; one brother, Larry Davis of Nippa; and one sister, Geneva Davis Wiley of Paintsville.
The service was officiated by Ronnie Spriggs, with burial in the Lakeview Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.
