Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 23, at 1 p.m., at Jones-Preston Funeral Home, for George Stambaugh, 75, of East Point, who died Tuesday, July 19, at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
Born May 26, 1936, in Johnson County, he was the son of the late William Howard Taft and Angus Preston Stambaugh.
He is survived by his wife, Adaline “Addie” Webb Stambaugh; one son, George Stambaugh II, of East Point; one daughter, Georgia Jane (Michael) Hall, of Banner; two brothers, Roger Stambaugh, of Ind., and David Stambaugh, of Tenn.; three sisters, Jane Horne, of Ashland, Sara Conley, of Wilmington, Ohio, and Willa Kuhns, of N.C.; and, one granddaughter.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m., Friday, and after 9 a.m., Saturday.
Wes Stedtefeld will officiate the services.
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville.
James E. Hall
1927-2011
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 13, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for James E. Hall, 84, of Paintsville, who passed away Tuesday, Aug. 9 at his residence.
Mr. Hall was born Apr. 2, 1927 in Paintsville, son of the late Dr. Paul B. and Blanche Ward Hall. He was an assistant hospital administrator, and a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Violet Barnott Hall.
Surviving are one daughter, Paula Hall (George A.) Flora of Paintsville; and one granddaughter.
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 12, 5 p.m.- 9 p.m, and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Saturday.
The service will be officiated by Ken Spurrier and Terry Music, with burial in the Ward Family cemetery at Concord.

Arlen “Dood” Vanhoose
1926-2011
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 11, 2 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Arlen “Dood” Vanhoose, 85, of Nats Creek, who passed away Tuesday, Aug. 9 at his residence.
He was born Nov. 18, 1926 in Johnson County, son of the late Jessie and Lizzie Dawson Vanhoose.
He was a U.S. Air Force and a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Bobbie Vanhoose; and two sisters, Pauline Lee of Whitehouse and Verla Walters of Urbana, Ohio.
The service was officiated by Tommy Meade and Harold Sincell, with burial in the Vanhoose cemetery at Chestnut.

Elsie Mae Stapleton Tackett
1944-2011
Funeral services were held Monday, July 25, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Elsie Mae Stapleton Tackett, 67, of Dwale, who passed away Saturday, July 23 at Riverview Healthcare in Prestonsburg.
Mrs. Tackett was born Feb. 26, 1944 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Herman and Ola Virginia Dixon Stapleton.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Tackett.
Surviving are one son, Maurice Tackett of Paintsville; four daughters, Teresa Ann Fields of Dwale, Polly Tackett of Paintsville, Stella Mae Kimbler of Volga, and Bernice Tackett of Meally; two sisters, Hermalee Cisco of Paintsville, and Ida Spradlin of Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Darlene Dye and Addie Hensley, both of Paintsville; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Jim Fields, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

Glen Junior Daniels
1961-2011
Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 7 at Emanuel Baptist Church at Kise, for Glen Junior Daniels, 50, of Charley, who passed away Thursday, Aug. 4 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mr. Daniels was born Jan. 27, 1961 in Floyd County, son of the late Willie and Sarah Wells Daniels. He was a coal miner.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jay, Bo, and Raymond Daniels.
Surviving are his wife, Pearlene Sue Pack Daniels of Charley; two daughters, Amanda Sue (Tony) Cole and Sherry Ann (Frank) Castle, both of Louisa; four brothers, Russell (Jenny) Daniels, Elbert (Nella) Daniels, Paul (Virgie) Daniels, and Clifton (Judy) Daniels; seven sisters, Bonnie (Darvin) Spears, Maggie Perry, Sena (Tom) Crisp, Janice (Wendell) Holmes, Edith Spears, Glenda Faye (Clyde) Fyffe, and Betty (Buck) Ousley; and three grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Rick Frazier and Jonathan Hall, with burial in the Pack & Daniels cemetery at Charley.

Margaret “Peggy” Perry
1929-2011
Margaret “Peggy” Perry, 81, of Louisville, formerly of Paintsville, passed away Saturday, Aug. 6 in Louisville.
Mrs. Perry was born Sept. 29, 1929 in Huntington, W. Va., daughter of the late Carl and Isabelle Bias. She was a former employee of The Paintsville Herald, Brown’s Ford and the retired owner/operator of Chandler’s Store and The Shoe Tree in Paintsville.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Allan “Bud” Perry; a son, Allan Scott Perry III; and a sister, Jennie Lou Hudson.
Surviving are two daughters, Marjie Hale of Paintsville, and Mary Beth Haney of Frankfort; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Julette Green
1926-2011
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 11, 11 a.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Julette Green, 85, of Lowmansville, who passed away Sunday, Aug. 7 at her residence.
Mrs. Green was born March 22, 1926 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Patton and Mary Sparks Salyers.
Surviving are four sons, Mike Tackett and Winford Salyers, both of Lowmansville, Buell Tackett of Paintsville, and Johnny Tackett of Boston, Mass.; four daughters, Bonnie Betts of Columbus, Ohio, Mikela Amburn of Lynchburg, Ohio, Julie Heaton of Virginia, and Rosa Castle of Flat Gap; one sister, Loretta Blevins of Oil Springs; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Jim McKenzie and Delbert Music, with burial following in the Salyers-Tackett cemetery at Lowmansville.

Paul Wayne Jenkins
1956-2011
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 9, 1 p.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel for Paul Wayne Jenkins, 55, of Flat Gap, who passed away Friday, Aug. 5 at Williamson Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Jenkins was born Feb. 16, 1956 in Johnson County, son of Mary Marie Lemaster Jenkins of Flat Gap, and the late John Carson Jenkins. He was a truck driver and a retiree with the Kentucky Dept. of Highways.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Mary Daniels Jenkins of Flat Gap; one son, Paul Wayne Jenkins Jr., also of Flat Gap; two step-sons, Paul Daniels of Paintsville, and James Daniels of Hager Hill; one brother, Carlos Jenkins of Flat Gap; two sisters, Christine Gullett and Carlene Hayden, both of Flat Gap; two granddaughters and two step-granddaughters.
The service was officiated by Rev. Joe Keaton, Elders Sammy Reed and Frankie Williams, with burial in the Jenkins-Lemaster cemetery at Flat Gap.
