Funeral services were held Saturday, June 11, 10:30 a.m. at the George C. Martin Funeral Home, Northridge Chapel for Myrtle Murphy McDaniel, 89, of Tipp City, Ohio, who passed away Wednesday, June 8.
Mrs. McDaniel was born Nov. 9, 1921 in Meally, daughter of the late Evertt and Ada Murphy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George McDaniel; and two sons, Orville and George A. McDaniel.
Surviving are three daughters, Ada (Danny) Fletcher, Marlene Berry, and Faye (James) Price; one son, Earl Michael (Jackie) McDaniel; one sister, Dorothy Stambaugh; one brother, Glenn Murphy; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Pastor Todd Hoskins, with interment in the Willow View Cemetery.

Sherley Rae “Sue” Marnell
1918-2011
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16, 10 a.m. at the Garden Hill cemetery in Opelika, Ala., for Sherley Rae “Sue” Marnell, 93, of Auburn, Ala., who passed away Sunday, June 12 at Oak Park Nursing Home in Auburn.
Mrs. Marnell was born March 11, 1918 at Richardson, daughter of the late John and Theodosia Wells. She grew up in Paintsville and graduated from Bowling Green Business College, before moving to Washington, D.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Marnell; and three siblings.
Surviving are one son, Jim (Ginny) Marnell of New York, NY; three daughters, Susan (Doug) Weaver of Williamsburg, Ky., Janet (Mike) Morehouse of Opelika, and Irene (Tom Guaschino) Marnell of East Vincent Township, Penn.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Mike Morehouse.

Larry K. Stewart II
1963-2011
A Celebration of Life was held Monday, Aug. 1, 2 p.m. at the Christian Fellowship Baptist Church in Churchville, Va., for Larry K. “Bub” Stewart II, 47, who passed away Thursday, July 28.
Mr. Stewart was born Sept. 29, 1963 in Nuremburg, Germany, son of Virginia Ann Cantrell Stewart of Churchville, and the late S.F.C. Larry Keith Stewart Sr. He was a correctional officer at the Augusta Correctional Center and a member of the Christian Fellowship Baptist Church.
He was also preceded in death by a step-son, Harvey Noel Plecker Jr.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife, Elizabeth Burns Stewart of Churchville; one step-daughter, Sarah A. Plecker of Charlottesville, Va.; two brothers, Todd Anthony (Lara) Stewart and Garner Matthew (Peggy) Stewart, both of Richmond; one sister, Etta Margaret (Tony) Tyler of Woodbury, Ga.; and two uncles, Charles Cantrell and John Cantrell Jr.
The service was officiated by Pastor Gary Hodges, with burial in the Greenhill cemetery at Churchville.

Timothy David “Tim” Abbott

Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 5, 10:30 a.m. at the Centenary Christian Life Center on Perryville Road in Danville, for Timothy David “Tim” Abbott, 45, of Danville, who passed away Tuesday, Aug. 2.
Mr. Abbott was born Nov. 11, 1965 in Carrolton, son of Graham L. Abbott of Whitesburg, and Lou Ann Jones Abbott of Danville. He was a graduate of Paintsville High School; he was employed at the Burgin Independent School; and a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Kellie Goble Abbott; and one brother, Stephen Paul Abbott.
The service will be officiated by Dr. Quentin Scholtz, with burial to follow in the Bedford cemetery at Bedford.

Mark Edward Wells Sr.
1954-2011
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 31, 2:30 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Mark Edward Wells Sr., 57, of West Van Lear, who passed away Thursday, July 28 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Mr. Wells was born June 10, 1954 in Johnson County, son of Richard and Ruby Perry Wells of West Van Lear. He was an I. T. Manager for Community Action Program.
Surviving are one son, Mark Edward (Anna) Wells Jr. of Franklin, Ohio; two daughters, Sarah Elizabeth and Mary Ellen Wells, both of Paintsville; two brothers, Anthony Wells of Madisonville, and John Paul Wells of Eminence; and one sister, Teresa Wright of Hurricane, W.Va.
The service was officiated by Mike Greider, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.

Deborah Gwyen Ward Henry Pelphrey

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Aug. 6, 2 p.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Deborah Gwyen Ward Henry Pelphrey, 62, of Swamp Branch, who passed away Thursday, Aug. 4 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
Mrs. Pelphrey was born Oct. 22, 1948 in Paintsville, daughter of the late Eugene and Garnet Necessary Ward.
Surviving are five daughters, Tracy Henry of Tennessee, Lisa McCarty of Florida, Cristy Henry of Van Lear, Whitney Newsome of Auxier, and Amanda Henry-Blevins of Hager Hill; two brothers, John Ward of Corbin and Anthony E. Ward of Paintsville; four sisters, Patricia Gallione of Florida, Linda Kay Ward of California, Phoebe Jane Delboccio of New Jersey, and Joan M. Daniels of North Carolina; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be Fri. and Sat., Aug. 5 and 6, 6 p.m.- 9 p.m.
The service will be officiated by Roger Hill, with burial following in the Johnson County Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.

Henrietta Lyons
1924-2011
Henrietta Lyons of Louisville, formerly of Paintsville and Raceland, passed away July 19. She was born in Floyd County on May 23, 1924. She was preceded in death by her mother, Daisy Osborne, and her husband Harry Lyons Jr. She is survived by one daughter, Dianna L. (Robert) Kuhnle of Louisville; granddaughter, Shannon K. (Christopher) Balmer of Edgewater, Fla.; grandson, R. David (Kristin) Kuhnle Jr. of Missoula, Mont.; and three great-grandchildren, Shelby Balmer, Cole Balmer, and Dylan Balmer, all of Edgewater. She is also survived by extended family members, Joseph (Betty) Vaughan of Lexington; John (Betty) Vaughan of Chattanooga, Tenn.; Ronald (Marlise) Vaughan of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Rascal.
The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Bryon Morgan and his staff, of Louisville, for all their care and personal attention over the years to Henrietta. The family would also like to thank the caregivers of Hosparus and HomeInstead Senior Care for their loving kindness and care of Henrietta in these final days and their help in making her comfortable and peaceful during this difficult time. The family would like to extend a special thanks and gratitude to Nikkyea of HomeInstead Senior Care for her loving care and kindness above and beyond the job for Henrietta. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 23 at 2 p.m., with entombment at the Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
Ella Marie Ferguson

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 28, 11 a.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel for Ella Marie Ferguson, 89, of Staffordsville, who passed away Monday, July 25 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Mrs. Ferguson was born April 9, 1922 in Morgan County, daughter of the late Van Buren and Carrie Ferguson Hill. She was a homemaker.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arlen Ferguson.
Surviving are three daughters, Belva Lynn Fyffe of Staffordsville, Jennifer Arlene Hamilton of Union, and Karen Elaine VanHoose of Paintsville; one sister, Maggie Mullins of Paintsville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Paul E. Keaton, Mark McKenzie and Jim Blair, with burial in the Paint Valley Memorial Gardens at Crockett.

Nicholas Lee Blair

Funeral servics will be held Thursday, Aug. 4, 3 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Nicholas Lee Blair, 42, of Thelma, who passed away Monday, Aug. 1 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mr. Blair was born March 2, 1969 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Weldon Blair and Ruth Ann Blair Eaden.
Surviving are his wife, Valarie DeBoard Blair; one son, Derek Levi Blair of Thelma; two daughters, Savannah Blair Ward of Meally, and Loren Renea Blair of Thelma; one brother, Chris Blair of Ohio; and his maternal grandmother, Anna Mae Blair of Denver.
The service will be officiated by Harry Neal Frisby, with burial following in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
