Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25, 11 a.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Dora Lynn McCarty, 41, of Hager Hill, who passed away Tuesday, June 21 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
Mrs. McCarty was born May 12, 1970 in Johnson County, daughter of Joyce Riffett Powers and the late Phillip Powers.
Surviving are her husband, Jeff McCarty of Hager Hill; one daughter, Jessica Ratliff of Denver; one half-brother, David Lee Riffett of Sitka; two sisters, Patricia Powers of Staffordsville and Phyllis Jane Wilson of Keaton; one half-sister, Melinda Ann Riffett of North Carolina; two nephews and three nieces.
The service will be officiated by Jack Hall, with burial in the Highland Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.

Homer Grimm
1924-2011
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 1, 10 a.m. at the Denton-Workman Funeral Home in Flemingsburg, for Homer Grimm, 87, of Flemingsburg, who passed away Sunday, May 29 at Meadowview Regional Hospital in Maysville.
Mr. Grimm was born April 17, 1924 in Johnson County, son of the late Herbert and Alka Daniels Grimm.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are, his wife Mildred Cavins Grimm of Flemingsburg; and nieces and nephews.
The service was officiated by Pastor Herbie Stallard, with burial in the Lemaster cemetery at Sitka.

Lula Blevins Adkins

Funeral services will be held Friday, 7 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home in Paintsville, for Lula Blevins Adkins, 86, of Lowmansville, who passed away Monday, June 20 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Mrs. Adkins was born June 11, 1925 in Johnson County, daughter of the late William Worth and Linnie Mae Stamper Blevins.
She was preceded in death by brothers, George Wade, Bruce and Ottie F. Blevins.
Surviving are her husband, William C. Adkins of Lowmansville; one son, Lloyd Roger Thompson of Pensacola, Fla.; one daughter, Diane Duty, also of Pensacola; two brothers, Harry Harrison Blevins of North Carolina, and Jimmy Lee Blevins of St. Maries, Idaho; three sisters, Doris Eloise Gauze of Inez, Bonnie Jean Webb of Catlettsburg, and Jerry Tackett of Staffordsville; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by James Kelly Caudill, with burial in the Barrancas National cemetery in Pensacola.

Mable Irene Castle

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25, 11 a.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel for Mable Irene Castle, 86, of Paintsville, who passed away Thursday, June 23 at Mountain Manor Nursing Home in Paintsville.
Mrs. Castle was born Aug. 16, 1924 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Frank Wheeler and Bessie Picklesimer Wheeler Castle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Buel Castle; and her son, James H. “Bud” Castle.
Surviving are three daughters, Kathy Adams of Richmond, Juanita Estep of Thelma and Patricia Ann Ratliff of Thealka; two sisters, Phyllis Jean Brown of Catlettsburg and Mae Little of Ashland; one daughter-in-law, Garnet Armstrong of Paintsville; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by the Rev. Hubert Slone with burial in the Castle cemetery at Nippa.

Marjorie Stapleton Gullett

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 24, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Marjorie Stapleton Gullett, 93, of Lexington, who passed away Tuesday, June 21 in Lexington.
Mrs. Gullett was born March 30, 1918 in Boyd County, daughter of the late Lindsey Franklin and Gifta Francis Justice Stapleton. She was a retired retail sales clerk, and a member of the Gardenside Christian Church in Lexington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Staff Sergeant Charles A. Gullett; four brothers, Homer, James Henderson, William “BIll” Clifton, and Roscoe Stapleton; three sisters, Lena Mae Stapleton, Marie Stapleton Pack, and Laura Stapleton Daniel.
Surviving are one sister, Angie Stapleton of Flint, Mich.; and nieces and nephews.
The service will be officiated by John Sparks, with burial in the Castle cemetery at Flat Gap.

Myrtle Murphy McDaniel

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 11, 10:30 a.m. at the George C. Martin Funeral Home, Northridge Chapel for Myrtle Murphy McDaniel, 89, of Tipp City, Ohio, who passed away Wednesday, June 8.
Mrs. McDaniel was born Nov. 9, 1921 in Meally, daughter of the late Evertt and Ada Murphy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George McDaniel; and two sons, Orville and George A. McDaniel.
Surviving are three daughters, Ada (Danny) Fletcher, Marlene Berry, and Faye (James) Price; one son, Earl Michael (Jackie) McDaniel; one sister, Dorothy Stambaugh; one brother, Glenn Murphy; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Pastor Todd Hoskins, with interment in the Willow View Cemetery.

Pearlie Marie Fairchild

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 23, 12:30 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Pearlie Marie Fairchild, 72, of Staffordsville, who passed away Monday, June 20 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville.
Mrs. Fairchild was born Oct. 10, 1938 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Virgil and Rosa Fairchild. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Fairchild; and two sisters, Beulah Fairchild and Rushie Hannah.
Surviving are two sons, Mark Setser of Oil Springs, and Brian Ratliff of Staffordsville; one daughter, Elizabeth Blackburn of West Van Lear; one brother, Virgil Willis Fairchild of Staffordsville; two sisters, Freda Davis and Eula Ann Ratliff, both of Staffordsville; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in the Fairchild Family cemetery at Staffordsville.
