Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept 8, 3 p.m. at the Eastside Mission Church for Grace Caudill, 95, of Kilbourne, Ohio, who passed away Saturday, Sept. 4 at Wintersong Nursing Care Facility.
She was born Jan. 5, 1915 at Stambaugh, daughter of the late Willie and Alta Caudill Burchett. She had worked at the Brown Elementary School as school cook, and was a member of the Eastside Mission Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Caudill; and three brothers and seven sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Anna Rae Wolford of Delaware, Ohio; two sisters, Gusta Bevins of Louisa, and Angeline Derring of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Donnie Akers, with burial in the Greenmound Cemetery.

Larry Paul Lemaster
1943-2010
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, September 11 the at Sitka Free Will Baptist Church for Larry Paul Lemaster, 67, who passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2010 in Indianapolis, Ind.
He was born June 7, 1943 in Johnson County, the son of the late Virgil and Rebecca Lemaster. He was retired from Allison Corporation in Indianapolis, and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Kandi Lemaster; one daughter, Catrinia; two step-daughters, Bobbi Golinowsky and Tracy Leven, all of Indiana; one adopted daughter, Shannon; two adopted sons, Cayden and Brandon, and one step-son, Shane Kadrovach, all of Indiana; two brothers, Bobby (Juanita) Lemaster of Avon, Ind., and Dallas (Mona) Lemaster of Flat Gap; one sister, Marlene Gibbons of Lexington; and two grandsons.
The service will be officiated by the Revs. Jim McKenzie and Harold Salyer, with burial in the Lemaster Family cemetery at Flat Gap.

Amy Nicole VanHoose
1975-2010
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 11, 1 p.m. at the Tom’s Creek Free Will Baptist Church for Amy Nicole VanHoose, 35, of Bonaire, Ga., who passed away Saturday, Sept. 4 at Houston County Medical Center in Warner Robins, Ga.
She was born Jan. 3, 1975 in Boyd County, Ky., daughter of Ernest R. and Norma Jean Rice VanHoose of Denver.
She was a teacher’s aide with Russell Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Estill and Vonda VanHoose, and Archie and Ruby Taylor Rice.
Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband, Bryan Edward “Pudge” VanHoose; two sons, Alex Edward and Nicholas Ray Vanhoose, of Bonaire, Ga.; one brother, Joey (Jennifer) VanHoose of Denver; two nephews and three nieces.
The service will be officiated by James Kelly Caudill, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.

Alice Tackett
1948-2010
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 29, for Alice Tackett, 62, of Paintsville, who died on Friday, August 27, at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
Born April 22, 1948, in Magoffin County, she was the daughter of Wade Isaac and the late Ana Penley Isaac.
She was a nurse and a member of the Paintsville Church of Christ.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Tackett.
In addition to her father, she is survived by a daughter, Leona Hicks, of North Carolina; and two stepdaughters, Tommigean Tackett, of Paintsville, and Teresa Stambaugh, of Lake City, Florida; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted at 4 p.m., at the Paintsville Church of Christ, with Johnny Lemaster officiating.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Cemetery, at Staffordsville.

Janie Butcher
1916-2010
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 29, for Janie Butcher, 94, of Williamsport, who died on Friday, August 27, at Paul B. Hall Medical Center.
Born May 6, 1916, in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Addie and Effie Penix Crum.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Butcher.
She is survived by two sons, Glen Otis Butcher and Freddie Butcher, of Boons Camp; one daughter, Ruby Branham, of Williamsport; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and, 12 great-great grandchildren.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m., at the Little Friendship United Baptist Church with Glen Penix, Willis Staton, and Shade Lee Walters officiating.
Burial was in the Ballard Butcher Cemetery, at Boons Camp.

Richard Ratliff
1935-2010
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 31, 1 p.m. at the Barnetts Creek United Baptist Church, for Richard Ratliff, 75, of Staffordsville, who passed away Saturday, August 28 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
He was born March 16, 1935 in Johnson County, son of the late Hershel and Elva Blair Ratliff. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are his wife, Della Burke Ratliff of Staffordsville; five sons, Anthony Ratliff of Versailles, Mike Ratliff of Fairborn, Ohio, Eddie Ratliff of Mt. Sterling, David Ratliff of Stanford, and Albert Ratliff of Staffordsville; two brothers, Roger and Randy Ratliff, both of Staffordsville; two sisters, Thelma Benge and Phyllis Crace, both of Staffordsville; and 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Kenny Pelphrey, with burial in the Ratliff Family cemetery at Staffordsville.

Wales Joe Stamper
1949-2010
Funeral services were held Monday, August 30, 11 a.m., at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel for Wales Joe Stamper, 60, of Oil Springs, who passed away August 27, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born October 3, 1949 at Blaine, son of the late Jesse and Carrie Jane Frazier Stamper. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Blanton Stamper of Oil Springs; one son, Joseph Michael Stamper of Bristow, Okla.; two daughters, Susan Rae Malone of Jackson, Ohio, and Janie Marie Norton of Bristow; two brothers, Charles Stamper of Hazard, and Lloyd Stamper of Delaware, Ohio; one sister, Marie Conley of Beaver, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
The service was officiated by the Rev. Joe Keaton, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park, at Staffordsville.

Welman Short
1923-2010
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 28, at 12 p.m., at the Keen Wood Baptist Church, in Russell, for Welman Short, 87, of Russell, who passed away Wednesday, August 25 at Our Lady of Bellfonte Hospital in Russell.
He was born April 2, 1923 in Johnson County, son of the late Welman and Lavina Preston Short. He was a retired insurance agent.
Surviving is his wife, Joyce Collins Short.
Burial was at the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
