Mrs. Williams was born February 14, 1941, in Floyd County, to the late Bill and Mae McCarty McKenzie.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Williams.
Surviving are her husband, Ollie Williams “Junebug” Jr.; two sons, Ricky Williams of Staffordsville and Randy Williams of Salyersville; five daughters, Carolyn Curtis of Flat Gap, Eunice Castle of Wittensville, Priscilla Music of Sitka, and Wanda Barnett and Patricia Alsept, both of Salyersville; three brothers, Bill McKenzie of Shelbyville, Indiana, Austin McKenzie of Jeffersonville and Edmond McKenzie of Cynthiana; three sisters, Francis Pope of Carrie, Ohio, and Kathleen Brown and Shirley Cole, both of Salyersville; and 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 20, at Light of Christ Ballot Church, Staffordsville, with Terry Lykins and Larry Short officiating.
Burial followed in Williams Cemetery at Oil Springs, with Jones-Preston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Shawn Rittenhouse
1970-2000
Shawn Lynn Rittenhouse, 30, of Van Lear, died Friday, August 18.
Mr. Rittenhouse was born May 19, 1970, in Huntington, Indiana, to Anthony Rittenhouse and the late Judy Banks Rittenhouse. He was disabled.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Susan Renea Blevins.
Surviving are his father; one son, Shawn Rittenhouse Jr. of Floyd County; three daughters, Marlena, Susan and Mandy Rittenhouse, all of Floyd County; and one brother, Wayne Rittenhouse of Van Lear.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 21, at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Ronnie Spriggs officiating.
Burial followed in Butcher Fork Cemetery at Van Lear.
Jennie Gullett
1907-2000
Paintsville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Jennie Gullett, 93, of Volga, who died Thursday, August 17, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Gullett was born July 3, 1907, at Manila, to the late Crosford and Bessie Blanton Blair. She was a member of Caudill Fork United Baptist Church.
Surviving are four sons, Wendell Gullett of Volga, Paul Gullett of Hager Hill, James Willard Gullett of New Carlisle, Ohio, and Don Gullett of Clarksville, Tennessee; two daughters, Christine Blanton of Oil Springs and Reida Hope Robinson of Springfield, Ohio; one sister, Maude Burchett of Winchester; and 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 20, at Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel, with Elders Eulas Adams, Phillip Caudill and Allen Fannin officiating.
Burial followed in Blanton Branch Cemetery at Oil Springs.
Fay Sparks
Fay Sparks, 79, died August 4 in Louisville.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Thomas; and one sister, Virginia.
Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Judith and Kay.
Graveside services will be held at Highlands Memorial Park on Friday, August 25, at 2 p.m.
Rouie Curtis
1909-2000
Rouie Curtis, 91, died Sunday, August 6, at Park Hill.
Mrs. Curtis was born January 29, 1909, in Johnson County, to the late Alvie and Belle Salyers LeMaster.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, James M. Curtis; one grandson; four sisters; and three brothers.
Surviving are one son, Rexford Curtis of Centerburg, Ohio; two daughters, Priscilla Blair of Park Hill and Carolyn Stambaugh of Sunbury, Ohio; one brother, Luther LeMaster of Paintsville; and 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 9, at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Wayne Knisley and Darin Stambaugh officiating.
Burial was in Curtis Family Cemetery at Flat Gap.
Effie Lykins
1922-2000
Effie Marie Trusty Lykins, 78, of Cannel City, died Thursday, August 10, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center. She was a resident of Mountain Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Lykins was born January 6, 1922, in Wolfe County, to the late Edd and Jane Back Trusty.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Marvin Lykins, in 1984; two sons, Marvin Eugene Lykins, on June 21, 1998, and James Lester Lykins, on June 20, 1977; and one brother, Elmer Trusty.
Surviving are two daughters, Olean May of Lexington and Charlene Taylor of Thealka; one sister, Eva Trusty of Campton; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 13, at Redeemed Old Regular Baptist Church, with Revs. Gary Blair and Steve Slone officiating.
Burial followed in the Lykins Cemetery at Cannel City with Herald and Stewart and Halsey Funeral Home of West Liberty in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Scottie Keeton, Matt Rhodes, Chris Elam, Junior Lykins, Ricky Lykins and Bryan Lindon.
Nancy Sparks
1913-2000
Retired postmaster Nancy Daniels Sparks, 87, died Saturday, August 19, at her Thelma residence.
Mrs. Sparks was born April 21, 1913, in Johnson County, to the late Martin and Hulda Price Sammons. She was retired from the U.S. Government and a member of Concord United Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Arnie Daniels and Jarvis O. Sparks.
Surviving are one son, Herbert Martin Daniels of Thelma; one daughter, Elizabeth Pack of Thelma; two brothers, Edsel Sammons of Tennessee and Johnnie Sammons of California; two sisters, Edna Price of West Van Lear and Mary Ruth Urton of Columbus, Ohio; and seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held August 22 at Concord United Baptist Church, with Charles Price officiating.
Burial followed in Dan Gambill Cemetery at Thelma, with Preston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Bernette Thomas
1920-2000
Jones-Preston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Bernette LeMaster Thomas, 80, who died Wednesday, August 16, in Titusville, Florida.
Mrs. Thomas was born January 18, 1920, in Magoffin County, to the late Proctor and Bertha Blair LeMaster. She was a secretary for Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Thomas, in 1974.
Surviving are two sisters, Elizabeth E. Loper and Marian Tackett, both of Titusville.
Officiating at services on Sunday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel was Dick VanHoose.
Burial followed in Collins-LeMaster Cemetery at Oil Springs.
Phyllis Delong
1932-2000
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 20, for Phyllis M. Delong, 68, who died August 5 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Florida.
Mrs. Delong was born April 22, 1932, in Floyd County, to the late Mart and Sula Greene Wallen.
Surviving are her husband, Virgil Delong; two sons, Ronnie Delong of Woodstock, New York, and Virgil Dewayne Delong of Findley, Ohio; four daughters, Diane Andrews of Honor, Michigan, Gerry Thompson of Elk View, West Virginia, Jackie Delong of Findley and Teresa Delong of Port Charlotte; one sister, Shirley Fritzgerald of Warsaw, Indiana; and 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Officiating at 4 p.m. services at Highland Memorial Park will be J.M. Scott.

Ruth Spradlin

Hager Hill resident Ruth Spradlin, 64, died Sunday, August 13, at UK Medical Center, Lexington.
Mrs. Spradlin was born March 4, 1936, in Johnson County, to the late Morton and Nancy Blair Griffith. She was employed by Food City.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raleigh Spradlin, on January 4, 1996.
Surviving are one son, James Raleigh Spradlin of Hager Hill; one daughter, Lisa Renee Dale of Van Lear; five sisters, Shellie Griffith, Alice Rice and Lillian Gullett, all of Hager Hill, Edna McKenzie of Staffordsville and Ella Mae Patrick of Westville, Illinois; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 16, at Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Lowell Pelphrey and Ronnie Spriggs officiating.
Burial was in Lakeview Memorial Cemetery at Staffordsville.
Edgar Wells Jr.

Preston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Edgar Wells Jr., 43, who died Sunday, August 13, at his Paintsville residence.
Mr. Wells was born October 25, 1956, to the late Edgar and Rebecca Preston Wells. He was disabled.
Surviving are five brothers, Garry M. Wells of Sitka, Jimmie R. Wells of Boons Camp, Zip Wells of Tomahawk, Larry Wells of Murphy, North Carolina, and Herbert Ray Wells of Brookville, Ohio; and three sisters, Christine Hall of Meally, Jewell Dean Fitch of New York and Darlene Blair of Murphy, North Carolina.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 16, at Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Willie Goble officiating.
Burial was in Wells Cemetery at Boons Camp.
Georgia Spradlin Blair

Georgia Faye Blair, 76, of South Carolina, died Saturday, August 12, at Brian Nursing Center.
Mrs. Blair was born May 10, 1924, in Lawrence County, to the late Frank and Martha Porter Preston.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Henry Spradlin Sr. and Wayne Blair.
Surviving are one son, Henry Spradlin Jr.; two daughters, Delores Banks of Van Lear and Mary Cooper of Stony Point, North Carolina; and one sister, Vneedia McKinny.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, August 15, at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville, North Carolina, with Nicholson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Thelma Wells

Jones-Preston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Thelma Hyden Wells, 83, of Van Lear, who died Tuesday, August 8, at Mountain Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Wells was born June 12, 1917, in Johnson County, to the late William and Margaret Hopson Hyden.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Surviving are her husband, Tommy Wells; one son, Bobby Allen Wells of Paintsville; four daughters, Ruth Bowling of Paintsville, Doris Sue Robinson and Glenda Kay Hill, both of Hager Hill, and Wanda Faye Staniford of Summerville, Ohio; and 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 10, at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with J.W. Holcomb officiating.
Burial followed in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
Nancy Wells

Van Lear resident Nancy Margaret Wells, 59, died Wednesday, August 9, at King’s Daughters’ Medical Center, Ashland.
Mrs. Wells was born May 4, 1941, in Johnson County, to the late Houston E. and Thelma Picklesimer Williams. She was retired from American Standard.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Gerald Wells, on December 4, 1970.
Surviving are two sons, Billy G. Wells II of Salyersville and Kevin Lee Wells of Orangevale, California; one brother, D.B. Williams of Columbus, Georgia; four sisters, Ruth Stambaugh of West Van Lear, Glenna Music of Van Lear, Retha Fox of Zephyrhills, Florida, and Phyllis Murphy of Dryden, Michigan; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held August 12, at St. Michael Church, with Father Terence E. Hoppenjans officiating.
Burial was in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
Audrey Ratliff
1909-2000
Former Johnson County resident Audrey Mae Ratliff, 90, died Wednesday, August 9, at Villa Fairborn, Fairborn, Ohio.
Mrs. Ratliff was born October 24, 1909, in Johnson County, to the late Ranson “Pete” and Tavia Wilcox Daniels. She was a member of Third Street Freewill Baptist Church and worked several years for Teater’s Drive Inn of Paintsville.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Ratliff; and a sister, Anna Lee Estep.
Surviving are three sons, Roy Ratliff of Paintsville, Charles Dencil Ratliff of Columbus, Ohio, and Paul Vencil Ratliff of Phoenix, Arizona; two daughters, Faye Ward of Tipp City, Ohio, and Joyce Ann Chenault of Enon, Ohio; and nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 11, at Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Larry Blair officiating.
Burial followed in Mayo Memorial Cemetery at Paintsville.
