Kentucky Marriage Records by County

John Whitt
1929-2000
Funeral services were held Monday, December 18, for John Wallace Whitt, 71, of Waterville, Ohio, who died December 15 at Heartland of Browning Care Center, Ohio.
Mr. Whitt was born May 16, 1929, in Floyd County, to the late Sherman and Gertrude Ramey Whitt. He was a coal miner and veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.
Surviving are one son, Terry Whitt of Clay City; three sisters, Hattie Kestner of Thealka, Elizabeth Blevins of Offutt and Addie Reed of Toledo, Ohio; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Officiating at services at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel were Terry Conley and Steve Rose.
Burial followed in Whitt Family Cemetery at Swamp Branch.

Timothy Cordle
1967-2000
Paintsville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Timothy Lee Cordle, 33, who died Friday, December 15, in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Mr. Cordle was born August 6, 1967, in Carter County, to Reed Cordle of Sitka and the late Glenna Carmen Cordle. He was a deck hand.
Surviving are his father; stepmother, Marsha Trimble Cordle; grandmother, Shirley Cordle Stapleton of Ashland; one brother, Tommy Cordle of Grayson; one stepbrother, Dale Trimble of Lowmansville; and a stepsister, Hayley Trimble of Memphis, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Saturday, at 11 a.m. at Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Charles Heater officiating.
Burial will follow in Edward Salyer Cemetery at Sitka.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Paintsville Funeral Home to defray funeral costs.

Lonnie Dixon
1969-2000
Funeral services will be held today, Friday, for Lonnie Andrew Dixon, 31, who died Tuesday, December 19, at his Sitka residence.
Mr. Dixon was born March 24, 1969, in Johnson County, to Lonnie and Bertha Ann Lawson Dixon. He was a laborer.
He was also preceded in death by a son, James Derek Dixon.
Surviving are his wife, Cynthia Ann Shircliff Dixon; his parents; one son, Lonnie Andrew Dixon Jr. of Sitka; two brothers, Odell Dixon of Collista and Joseph Dixon of Sedalia, Missouri; and three sisters, Tracie VanHoose of Keaton, Sondra Bishop of Flat Gap and Latisha Dixon of Syracuse, Missouri.
Officiating at 11 a.m. services at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel will be James Kelly Caudill and Dick VanHoose.
Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery at Sitka.

Charlie VanHoose
1917-2000
Wittensville resident Charlie B. VanHoose, 83, died Wednesday, December 20, at Salyersville Health Care Center.
Mr. VanHoose was born October 18, 1917, in Johnson County, to the late Arthur and Emma Akers VanHoose. He was a building contractor.
Surviving are one daughter, Sonja VanHoose Music of Wittensville; three brothers, James Arthur VanHoose of Paris, Bruce Thomas VanHoose of Beckley, West Virginia, and Billy Joe VanHoose of Waverly, Ohio; one sister, Emma Ruth Mullins of Ashland; and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Saturday, at 11 a.m. at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with James Kelly Caudill and Dick VanHoose officiating.
Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.

Opal Workman
1915-2000
Opal Workman, 85, of Whitehouse, died Thursday, December 21, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Workman was born July 8, 1915, in Huntington, West Virginia, to the late Lewis and Ida Mae Dobbins Stafford. She was a member of Richardson Primitive Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oakley Workman, on February 14, 1960.
Surviving are one son, Donald Joe Workman of Louisa; and 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Saturday, at 11 a.m. at Richardson Primitive Baptist Church, with Tommy Meade officiating.
Burial will follow in VanHoose Cemetery at Whitehouse, with Preston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Wells
1911-2000
Retired miner Thomas “Tommy” Allen Wells, 89, died Wednesday, December 13, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Wells was born April 16, 1911, in Floyd County, to the late Winfield and Sally Burchett Wells.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Hyden Wells, on August 8.
Surviving are one son, Bobby Allen Wells of Paintsville; four daughters, Ruth Bowling and Glenda Kay Hill, both of Hager Hill, Doris Sue Robinson of Summerville, Ohio, and Wanda Faye Staniford of Dayton, Ohio; and 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with J.W. Holcomb officiating.
Burial followed in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.

Ruby Daniels
1918-2000
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 17, for Ruby Daniels, 82, who died Thursday, December 14, at her Hager Hill residence.
Mrs. Daniels was born October 8, 1918, in Johnson County, to the late David and Georgia Bolen Daniel.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard Childers, in 1979; one son, Samuel Eddie Ratliff; a daughter, Phyllis Ann Ratliff; three brothers; and six sisters.
Surviving are her husband, William Daniels; five sons, Fred K. Ratliff, Charles Vencil Ratliff, Danny D. Daniels and Raymond E. Daniels, all of West Van Lear, and James E. Daniels of Staffordsville; two daughters, Joyce C. Hughes of Tampa, Florida, and Patricia Gail Perkins of Lowmansville; one brother, Charles Ray Daniel of Richmond, Virginia; and 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Officiating at services at Staffordsville Freewill Baptist Church were Mike Blanton, Jimmy Price and Ronnie Spriggs.
Burial followed in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.

Albert Hackworth
1920-2000
Jones-Preston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Albert Hackworth, 80, who died Friday, December 15, at his Paintsville residence.
Mr. Hackworth was born September 29, 1920, in Floyd County, to the late Jackson and Elizabeth Shell Hackworth. He was a carpenter.
Surviving are his wife, Edna Hackworth; two sons, Gary of Paintsville and Larry of Rockhouse; three daughters, Debra Hackworth Blair of Paintsville, Dianna Hackworth Brown of Roseville, Michigan, and Jacqueline Hackworth Merrell of Fairview, North Carolina; two sisters, Ruby Snaveley of Ada, Ohio, and Lorrane Wright of Sarasota, Florida; and 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Jeffery Burchett officiating.
Burial followed in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.

Richard King
Former Johnson County resident Richard King, 73, died Friday, December 15, at his Columbus, Ohio, residence.
Mr. King was raised in Johnson County, a son of the late Crate and Jenny King. He was retired from Ohio Packing Company and was lead singer of the “Bluegrass Edenaires” gospel group.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Florence Ellen; three brothers, Orville, Ray and Hershel; and two sisters, Julia Mae and Goldie.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Ann King; two sons, Ric and Bill King, both of Columbus; one daughter, Jean Clark of Columbus; two brothers, Carl King Jr. and Buck King; two sisters, Florence Hannah and Doris Conley, both of Kentucky; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Hilock Fellowship Church, Columbus, with Rev. Eddie Back officiating.
Burial followed in Obetz Cemetery, Obetz, Ohio, with O.R. Woodyard Co. Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.

Joe Long
1935-2000
Oil Springs resident Joe Long, 65, died Sunday, December 10, at his residence.
Mr. Long was born February 9, 1935, in Johnson County, to the late Lundy and Tennie Spradlin Long. He was a heavy equipment operator, having retired from Ashland Oil Company.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Long.
Surviving are one son, Scott Long of Oil Springs; one daughter, Debbie Preston of Oil Springs; and three sisters, Ruth Conley of Oil Springs and June Blevins and Agnes Colvin, both of Louisville.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Joe Sublett officiating.
Burial followed in Litteral Cemetery at Oil Springs.

James Rice
1941-2000
Nippa resident James Leon Rice, 59, died Monday, December 4, at his residence.
Mr. Rice was born April 1, 1941, in Johnson County, to the late Roy L. and Ollie Mae VanHoose Rice. He was a truck driver.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Kay Fairchild.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Brewer Rice; two sons, James Jeffery and Michael Lewis Rice, both of Nippa; one daughter, Patricia Lee Freeman of Ulysses; two brothers, Francis Rice of Louisa and Seth Paul Rice of Nippa; one sister, Stella McCarty of Nippa; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, at 1 p.m. at Walnut Grove Free Will Baptist Church, Ulysses, with Londis Meek and Harold Stevens officiating.
Burial followed at Rice Family Cemetery at Nippa, with Jones-Preston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Willie Conley
1904-2000
Willie Earl (Deak) Conley, 96, died Monday, December 4, at his home in Allegan, Michigan.
Mr. Conley was born October 19, 1904, in Johnson County.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Shirley Burke Conley; one daughter, Billie Jean Jensen; one son, Robert Earl Conley; and five brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are three sons, Bobby J. Conley of Gobles, Michigan, William Conley of Tampa, Florida, and Jimmie R. Conley of Allegan; three daughters, Anna Wright of Three Rivers, Michigan, and Nancy Locatis and Helen J. Setter, both of Allegan; one stepson, Jesse Davis of Liberty Mills, Indiana; and 25 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. In memory of Conley, contributions may be made to the Heartland Hospice, 4125 Embassy Drive, S.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49546.
Arrangements were under the direction of Avink Funeral Home Cremation Society of Schoolcraft, Michigan.

Aaron Meek
1933-2000
Retired miner Aaron Jackson Meek, 67, died Monday, December 4, at his Thelma residence.
Mr. Meek was born May 15, 1933, in Paintsville, to the late Willis and Mollie Delong Meek.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dianna Blanton Meek, on June 7, 1998.
Surviving are three sons, Russell and Gerald, both of Paintsville, and Terry Lee of Dayton, Ohio; one daughter, Jackie Salyers of Thelma; four brothers, Donis, Homer and Paul, all of Boons Camp, and Arnold of Stanville; two sisters, Joyce Blevins of Staffordsville and Darlene Clark of West Alexandria, Ohio; and four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and three step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Eastside Freewill Baptist Church, with Harry Frisby and John Sparks officiating.
Burial followed in Blanton Cemetery at Thelma, with Preston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Alvin Stambaugh
1940-2000
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 7, for Alvin Jay Stambaugh, 60, who died December 4.
Mr. Stambaugh was born May 4, 1940, in Johnson County, to the late Hobert and Alice Burchett Stambaugh. He was a heavy equipment operator.
Surviving are one son, A.J. Stambaugh of Stambaugh; one daughter, Ashley Dawn Stambaugh of Stambaugh; two brothers, William Stambaugh of Stambaugh and Clem Stambaugh of Auxier; and one sister, Janice Crigger of North Carolina.
Officiating at services at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel was Benny Blankenship.
Burial followed in Stambaugh Cemetery at Stambaugh.
