Funeral services were held Tuesday at Hammond Freewill Baptist Church, with Isaac Rowland officiating.
Burial followed in VanHoose Cemetery at Chestnut, with Preston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Clyde Combs
1917-2001
Retired truck driver Clyde Combs, 84, died Wednesday, January 10, in Columbus, Ohio.
Mr. Combs was born April 8, 1917, in Johnson County, to the late Benjamin F. and Zora M. Rice Combs. He was retired from Mutual Manufacturing.
Surviving are his wife, Goldia Combs; three sons, Wendell of Chillicothe, Ohio, Harvey of Columbus and Don of Albany, Ohio; one brother, Morris Combs of Dayton, Ohio; four sisters, Zora Conley of Paintsville, Pansy Witten of Wittensville, Hazel Witten of Ashland and Joy Roach of West Virginia; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with James Thacker officiating.
Burial followed in Combs Cemetery at Wittensville.
Armatha Lemaster
1925-2001
Paintsville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Armatha Lemaster, 75, who died Tuesday, January 2, at Mountain Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Lemaster was born September 9, 1925, in Magoffin County, to the late Lewis and Mary Hunley Conley.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Lemaster.
Surviving are four sons, Lindsey Lemaster of Staffordsville, Ronnie Lemaster of Paintsville, and Larry and Lonnie Lemaster, both of Cable, Ohio; six daughters, Mary Meade, Evelyn Kestner, and Karen Caudill, all of Sitka, Pauline May of Salyersville, Lola Blair of Nashville, Tennessee, and Janet Fitzpatrick of Mt. Sterling; two brothers, Troy Lewis Conley of Barnetts Creek and Matthew Daniels of Stambaugh; and two sisters, Rebecca Cantrell of Waverly, Ohio, and Opal Manbeavers of Portsmouth, Ohio.
Funeral services were held January 15 at Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel, with Revs. Donald R. Caudill and Lee Music officiating.
Burial followed in Conley Cemetery at Barnetts Creek.
Viola Lewis
1921-2001
Viola May Brown Lewis, 79, of Sandy Hook, died Tuesday, January 9, at Elliott Nursing & Rehab Center, Sandy Hook.
Mrs. Lewis was born June 14, 1921, in Elliott County, to the late John Tom and Laura Flaugher Brown. She was a retired Elliott County Circuit Court Clerk, member of the Sandy Hook United Methodist Church, Sandy Hook United Methodist Women and Sandy Hook Order of Eastern Star 518.
She was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Tollie Brown, Ellis Brown, Delphia Farley, Victor “Jack” Brown, Myrtle Horton, Irene Resko, Lowell Brown and Ray O. Brown.
Surviving are her husband, D.A. Lewis Jr.; two sons, Gary Daniel Lewis of Van Lear and James Carrol Lewis of Isonville; one brother, Lester Brown of South Shore; and one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home of Sandy Hook, with Warren Vanover and Ennis Lewis Jr. officiating.
Burial followed in Elliott County Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were Jack Brown, Kevin Brown, Marion Lewis, Lawrence Lewis, Ernie Lewis and Roy Ison.
Honorary pallbearers were Greg Brown, L.C. Prichard, Ellis Cornett, Elmo Click, Morris Payton, Ronnie Fannin, William C. Greene Jr. Rich Lewis Jr. and Billy Manning.
Norma Crider
1910-2001
Norma Collins Crider, 90, of Van Lear, died Friday, January 12, at Mountain Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Crider was born October 10, 1910, at Johns Creek, to the late William H. and Martha Elizabeth Clark Collins. She was of the Freewill Baptist faith.
Surviving are her husband, Arson Crider; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Carter Funeral Home Chapel of Prestonsburg, with Rev. Roger Goble officiating.
Burial followed in Crider Family Cemetery at Johns Creek.
Herman Price

Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Thursday, for Herman Price , 81, who died Sunday, January 14, at Three Rivers Medical Center.
Mr. Price was born July 4, 1919, in Johnson County, to the late Raleigh and Laura Patrick Price . He was disabled and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are two brothers, Raleigh Price Jr. of Whitehouse and David Arnold Price of Waco; and two sisters, Bradelene Mollette of Whitehouse and Opal Meek of Tomahawk.
Officiating at 1 p.m. services at Whitehouse Enterprise Baptist Church will be Ellis Hamilton.
Burial will follow in Price Cemetery at Whitehouse.
Ruie Reed
1908-2001
Funeral services will be held today, Friday, for Ruie Reed, 92, who died February 27 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Reed was born March 21, 1908, at Barnetts Creek, to the late George and Sudie Trimble Ealey. She worked in a bakery.
Surviving are her husband, Robert “Bob” Reed of Oil Springs; one son, Bobby Reed of Cumming, Georgia; three daughters, Billie Jean Fairchild of Oil Springs, Wilma Deane Wheeler of Baltimore, Maryland, and Janice Carol Johns of Capon Bridge, West Virginia; one brother, Chat Ealey of St. Port Lucie, Florida; and 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Officiating at 11 a.m. services at Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel will be Elders Sammy Reed and Frankie Williams.
Burial will follow in Reed Cemetery at Oil Springs.

Christy Michelle Marlow Gibson, 28, died Wednesday, February 28, at U.K. Medical Center, Lexington.
Mrs. Gibson was born February 3, 1973, in Johnson County, to Tom and Shelva Lemaster Marlow. She worked at Wal-Mart.
Surviving are her husband, Michael Thomas Gibson; her parents; one daughter, Aundra Grace Gibson of Paintsville; one brother, Jason Thomas Marlow of West Liberty; and one sister, Deanna Lee Marlow of Paintsville.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Londis Meek and Jeff Burchett officiating.
Burial followed in Lakeview Memorial Cemetery at Staffords-ville.
Paul Blair

Former Johnson County resident Elder Paul H. Blair, 70, died Wednesday, February 28, at SCCI Hospital, Lima, Ohio.
Mr. Blair was born January 16, 1931, in Johnson County, to the late Johnny B. and Rosie Colvin Blair. He was a retired assembler from Ford Motor Company and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Shelby Jean Ward Blair; one son, Paul O’Neil Blair of Ada, Ohio; one daughter, Katie Lorraina Cornell of Bellefontaine, Ohio; one brother, Wayne B. Blair of Staffordsville; one sister, Maxie Powers of Salyersville; and five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home of Ada, with Elders Greg Lewis and Pat Gilliland officiating.
Graveside services were held Sunday at Johnson County Memorial Cemetery, with Elders Doug Ward and Claude Mollette officiating.

Rev. Willie VanHoose

Former Johnson County resident Rev. Willie Green VanHoose, 86, died Monday, February 26, at his Logan, Ohio, residence.
Mr. VanHoose was born August 2, 1914, in Johnson County, to the late James and Sarah Music VanHoose. He was retired from Goodyear Tire of Logan, was a mason at Chandlersville Lodge and member of Reese Community Baptist Church of Reese, Ohio.
He was also preceded in death by seven brothers; two sisters; one half brother; one half sister; and four grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Anna Lee Music VanHoose; three sons, Charles and Jerry, both of Logan, and Randall of Vonor, Tennessee; three daughters, Joyce Ann O’Hara of Logan, Ohio, Shelby Jean Preston of Creola, Ohio, and Alice Nihiser of Vonor; 22 grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren; and two half sisters.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 1, at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Ellis Hamilton and Chester Bates officiating.
Burial followed in Clarke Castle Cemetery at Nippa.

Gilbert F. Storey Sr., 85, of Gray, Tennessee, died Tuesday, February 27, at his residence.
Mr. Storey was born March 14, 1915, in Washington County, Tennessee, to the late William and Callie Storey. He was employed by Eastman for 38 years, member of Bethany Presbyterian Church of Kingsport, Tennessee, and past master of Stinking Creek Masonic Lodge #575.
Surviving are his wife, Velma Coates Storey; two sons, Gilbert Jr. of Paintsville and Rick of Gray; two daughters, Polly Storey of Chicago, Illinois, and Patty Nedved of Mitchell, South Dakota; one sister, Hazel Deason of Kingsport; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild

Surviving are his wife, Doris Harrison Fraley; two sons, David of Somerset and Ronnie of Lexington; one daughter, Stephanie Litteral of Somerset; one brother, Don Fraley of Paintsville; two sisters, Molly Hunter of Paintsville and Edith Sherman of Dallas, Texas; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, at Memory Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, with Brothers Clyde Strunk and Clyde Baker officiating.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 27, for Frances Mollette Pinkerman, 78, who died Thursday in Gallipolis, Ohio.
Mrs. Pinkerman was born September 21, 1922, at Boons Camp, to the late Elias and Martha Jane Golden Mollette. She was retired from Gallipolis Development Center.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hillis Pinkerman, on April 17, 1995.
Surviving are two sons, Clyde Mitchell McDowell of Winter Haven, Florida, and Charles William McDowell of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, William R. Mollette of Boons Camp; and five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
