Mrs. Foster was a member of St. Barnabas Church, Louisville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Foster Sr.
Surviving are one daughter, Mary Anne Meade of Staffordsville; one sister, Anne M. Black of Louisville; one brother, David Monarch of Louisville; and six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at St. Barnabas Church.
Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, with Ratterman & Sons Inc. in charge of services.
Virgil DeLong
1930-2001
Virgil “Catfish” DeLong, 70, of Punta Gorda, Florida, died February 28 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Florida.
Mr. DeLong was born July 31, 1930, at Nero, Kentucky, and moved to the Punta Gorda area in 1984 from Findlay, Ohio. He worked for Cooper Tire & Rubber in Ohio before his retirement. He was a member of Son’s of the American Legion Post #103 in Punta Gorda, Loyal Order of the Moose #1693 Punta Gorda, VFW Post #212 in Findlay and member of United Rubber Workers Union.
Surviving are two sons, Ronnie of Woodstock, New York, and Dewayne of Findlay; four daughters, Diane Andrews of Honor, Michigan, Gerry Thompson of Elkview, West Virginia, Jackie DeLong of Findlay and Teresa DeLong of Punta Gorda; one sister, Dorothy George of Findlay; one brother, Earnest DeLong of Wabash, Indiana; and 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Monday, March 5, at American Legion Post #103 in Punta Gorda.
Further memorial services will be held Saturday, March 17, at 2 p.m. at the Upper Room Church of God, 520 W. Bigelow St., Findlay.
Burial will follow on Sunday in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, with Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville in charge of arrangements.

Cubby Hannah

Cubby Hannah, 39, died Sunday, March 4.
Mr. Hannah was born April 10, 1961, in Johnson County, to Raymond Hannah and the late Josephine Scott Hannah.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack Hannah.
Surviving are one daughter, Tracie Joe Hannah of Staffordsville; his father; four brothers, Howard of Salyersville and Steve, Scottie and Gib, all of Swamp Branch; and five sisters, Virginia Salyers and Brenda Lugar, both of Swamp Branch, Gonda Pennington of Oil Springs, Vickie Castle of Paintsville and Grindle Hitchcock of Hager Hill.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 8, at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Melvin Blanton and Paul Dean Meade officiating.
Burial followed in Hannah Family Cemetery at Swamp Branch.
Okie Fraley
1915-2001
Funeral services will be held today, Friday, for Okie Marie Fraley, 85, who died Tuesday, March 6, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Fraley was born December 24, 1915, in Johnson County, to the late Frank and Mahala Preston.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Tom Fraley, on January 12, 1961.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas Fraley of East Point, Ronald Fraley of Van Lear and William Fraley of West Van Lear; two daughters, Ruth Butcher and Alpharetta Sue Francis, both of Van Lear; three brothers, Norton and Shirley Daniels, both of Thelma, and Jess Daniels of Cliff; four sisters, Ethel Penix, Peggy Keeler and Bonnie Skeets, all of Silver Creek, New York, and Maybeth Fraley of Oceana, West Virginia; and 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Officiating at 1 p.m. services at Phelps & Son Funeral Home will be Manford Fannin.
Burial will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens at Williamsport.
Martin Crider

Retired miner Martin Crider, 92, died Tuesday, March 6, at Mountain Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Crider was born January 28, 1909, in South Point, Ohio, to the late Alec and June Conley Crider.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Wilson Crider, on July 24, 1999.
Surviving are two daughters, Anna June Crider and Nancy Archer, both of Hager Hill; one sister, Evelyn Hitchcock of Uhrichsville, Ohio; and one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
Funeral services were held today, Friday, at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Joe Howard officiating.
Burial will follow in Auxier Family Cemetery at Hager Hill.
Gertrude Castle

Paintsville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Gertrude Castle, 70, who died Thursday, March 8, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Castle was born August 8, 1930, in Johnson County, to the late Harry B. and Virgie Young Hampton. She worked in housekeeping.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bob Castle.
Surviving are four sons, David Earl Castle of Flat Gap, Phillip Wayne and Derrick Scott Castle, both of Wittensville, and Rodney Doyle Castle of Fayettesville, Ohio; two daughters, Deborah Butcher of Wittensville and Diana Carol Spradlin of Nippa; one brother, Howard “Boss” Hampton of Prestonsburg; three sisters, Clarinda Butcher of Wittensville, Virginia Frazier of Staffordsville and Sarah Collins of Paintsville; one brother, Howard “Boss” Hampton of Prestonsburg; and 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 11, at 1 p.m. at Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel, with Elder Kenny Pelphrey and Rev. Lowell King officiating.
Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
John Wells II

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 3, for John Kendrick “J.K.” Wells II, 85, who died Thursday at his Paintsville residence.
Mr. Wells was born December 15, 1915, in Johnson County, to the late Jimison Kendrick and Ruth Long Wells. He was a self-employed attorney with Wells & Wells and a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Jenkins Wells; one son, Kendrick Wells III of Louisville; and two grandchildren.
Officiating at services at First Christian Church of Paintsville was Bill Underwood.
Burial followed in Wells-Buckingham Cemetery, Paintsville, with Jones-Preston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Thurman Meade
1944-2001
Wittensville resident Thurman Ray Meade, 57, died Thursday, March 1, in Ohio.
Mr. Meade was born January 26, 1944, in Floyd County, to the late Hilbert and Kit Maulkie Meade. He was a disabled Sanitation Department employee.
Surviving are his ex-wife, Jewel Adkins Meade; five daughters, Brenda Foreman, Patricia Meade and Francis Meade, all of Van Lear, Angela Yates of South Portsmouth and Beverly Ann Fannin of Ohio; four brothers, Gene, Joe and Gordon, all of Ohio, and Robert of Wittensville; six sisters, Sylvia Akers of Louisa, Dorothy Blanton of Lucasville, Ohio, Ressie Reeder, Linda Kay Meade and Wanda Meade, all of Ohio, and Montana Callaham of Georgia; and 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Monday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Harold Dean Burchett and Jeffery Burchett officiating.

Dollie Dixon

Jones-Preston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Dollie Dixon, 92, of Volga, who died Thursday, March 1, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Dixon was born February 24, 1909, in Johnson County, to the late Lee and Nervie Brown Orsborne.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Dixon.
Surviving are two sons, Lonnie Dixon Jr. of Volga and Kenneth Ray Dixon of Grove City, Ohio; four daughters, Betty Andrews and Glenda Boggs, both of Volga, Loretta Farrah of Cocoa, Florida, and Mary Musick of Isaban, West Virginia; one brother, Vonnie Orsborne of Columbus, Ohio; three half sisters, Beulah May of Webb-ville, Betty Price of Salyersville and Lou Wells of Springfield, Ohio; and 26 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Dick VanHoose officiating.
Burial followed in Dixon Family Cemetery at Volga.
Exer Blessing

Exer Childers Blessing, 92, of Marion, Ohio, formerly of Johnson County, died Friday, March 2.
Blessing was born October 1, 1908, in Johnson County, to the late Thomas and Nannie Mollette Childers. She was retired.
Surviving are one son, Douglas Blessing of Marion; and one daughter, Willa Mae Wolf of Marion.
Funeral services were held Monday at Concord United Baptist Church, with Elder Charles Price officiating.

Billie Conley

Billie Roger Conley, 78, died Friday, March 2, at St. Claire Medical Center, Morehead.
Mr. Conley was born November 21, 1922, in Magoffin County, to the late Tom and Mae Hitchcock Conley. He was a maintenance supervisor at Mayo Technical College and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard.
Surviving are his wife, Polly Rose Arms Conley; two sons, James Music of West Liberty and Arnett W. Conley of High Point, North Carolina; one brother, Paul Conley of Elgin, Oregon; one sister, Ailene Music of Paintsville; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Dick VanHoose and Jerry Scott officiating.
Burial followed in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
Imogene Faulkner
Imogene Faulkner, 82, died Saturday, March 3, at University Park Nursing Center, Indiana.
A Paintsville native, Mrs. Faulk-ner was a longtime resident of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She retired in 1967 as a chef for Neil’s Oyster Bar, and was formerly a chef at Cafe Johnell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Holley B. Faulkner Sr. in 1994.
Surviving are two sons, Ernest Bacon of Fort Wayne and Holley Faulkner Jr. of Fairmont, West Virginia; one daughter, Janice McNutt of Fort Wayne; one sister, Anne Murray of Paintsville; and 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home.
Rev. Bennie Taylor
1943-2001
Retired miner Rev. Bennie Taylor, 57, died Sunday, March 4, at his Leander residence.
Mr. Taylor was born October 16, 1943, in Indiana, to Faye Lemaster Taylor and the late Virgil Taylor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita Tackett Taylor; his mother; three sons, Powell of Leander, Dwayne of Thelma and Virgil of Garrett; two sisters, Anita Baldwin of Oil Springs and Lisa Collins of Crum, West Virginia; two brothers, Leondis Taylor of Boons Camp and Bill Taylor of Leander; two sisters, Maxie Blair of Leander and Cheryl Faye Sammons of Louisville; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, at 11 a.m. at Collista Freewill Baptist Church, with Toby Johnson and Bobby Joe Spencer officiating.
Burial will follow in Taylor Family Cemetery at Leander, with Preston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Carl Hackney

Carl Hager Hackney, 70, formerly of Johnson County, died Monday, March 5, at his Columbus, Ohio, residence.
Mr. Hackney was born October 22, 1930, at Lowmansville. He was a member of Hickory Grove United Baptist Church, served in the U.S. Army and was retired from Columbia Gas of Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Henderson; mother, Zee; sisters, Lake Keicher, Jean Franks, Ivory Young and Lydia Culwell; and brothers, Willie, Herbert and Joe.
Surviving are his wife, Bryce; one son, Robert Carl Hackney; two sisters, Edith Miller of Charley and Jackie Young of Columbus, Ohio; and three brothers, Edgil of Sitka, Paul of Lowmansville and Jimmy of Offutt.
Visitation will be held tomorrow, Thursday, at Hood’s Fork United Baptist Church at Blaine, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the church, with Elders Gregg Lewis, Billy Howard and Denver Caudill officiating.
Burial will follow in the Sparks Cemetery.
James Castle

Funeral services will be held today, Friday, for James Elvis Castle, 43, who died Tuesday, April 3, at King’s Daughters’ Medical Center, Ashland.
Mr. Castle was born May 9, 1957, in Johnson County, to Naomi Ruth Daniels Castle and the late Jakey Lewis Castle. He was a mechanic.
Surviving are his mother; two sons, Jakey Lewis Castle and Douglas Paul Baker, both of Flat Gap; two daughters, Connie Marie Castle and Martha Marie Bishop, both of Flat Gap; two brothers, Arthur Castle of Nippa and Marcus Castle of Lowmansville; and six sisters, Versie Mae Tackett of Riceville, Margie Burkes and Ruby Castle, both of Nippa, Ida VanHoose of Lowmansville and Ruth Evelyn Hannah and Kathy Dawson, both of Wittensville.

Esta Selvage

Retired teacher Esta Mae Selvage, 93, died Friday, March 23, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Selvage was born November 6, 1907, in Floyd County, to the late James Hiram and Lannie Goble Wells. She was retired from the Johnson County school system.
Surviving are her husband, Add Selvage; and one sister, Evelyn Irene Wells of West Van Lear.

Norman Salyer

Norman Salyer, 84, died Monday, April 2, at his Columbus, Ohio, residence.
Mr. Salyer was born August 4, 1916. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from Jefferson Local School.
Surviving are his wife, Verna Salyer of Columbus; two sons, Norman Jr. and Jimmy Salyer, both of Columbus; two daughters, Janet and Sue, both of Columbus; and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Bueford Rowland

Former Johnson County resident Bueford MacHurst Rowland, 58, died Saturday, March 31, at Grand Oaks Nursing Center, Baldwin, Michigan.
Mr. Rowland was born March 30, 1943, at Red Bush, to Virginia Wood Rowland and the late Eckell Rowland. He was an assembly technician.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Rowland; his mother; one son, Rick Rowland of Indiana; one daughter Pamela Bruno of Taylor, Michigan; three brothers, Sammie Rowland of Red Bush, and Wendell and Michael Rowland, both of Detroit, Michigan; two sisters, Zezalee Keaton of Charlie and Mary McCoy of Louisville; and 10 grandchildren.

William Brackett

Mr. Brackett was born May 5, 1960, in Johnson County, to the late Danny and Prudie Ward Brackett.
