Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 20, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Edna May Castle, 83, of Urbana, Ohio, who passed away Friday, Dec. 16 at her residence.
Mrs. Castle was born Aug. 14, 1922 in Johnson County, Ky., daughter of the late Millard and Emma Raftcliff VanHoose. She was a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Noah Castle.
Surviving are one son, Noah Lee Castle Jr. of Urbana; three sisters, Lula Faye (Marion) Kemp and Betty (Ronald) Hall, both of Urbana, and Emma (Terry) Robson of Springfield, Ohio; four sisters, Irene Castle and Virgie Picklesimer, both of Urbana, Margie Ward of Thealka, Ky., and Kathryn Wilcox of Louisa, Ky.; and 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Burial was in the Clarke-Castle cemetery at Lowmansville, Ky.

Ethel Daniels
1915-2005
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 21, 1 p.m. at the Little Friendship United Baptist Church for Ethel Daniels, 90, of Lafayette, Ind., who passed away Sunday, Dec. 18.
Mrs. Daniels was born Sept. 9, 1915 in Johnson County, Ky., daughter of the late William and Blanche Honeycutt Crum. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, John Daniels, and second husband, Bill Estep.
Surviving are three sons, Woodrow Daniels of Sitka, Ky., Shilo Daniels of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Johnny Daniels of Merritt Island, Fla.; two daughters, Betty Thompson of Hampton, Va., and Lilly Warrett of LaFayette; and 21 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Claude Mollette, Dewey Mullins and Shade Lee Walters, with burial in the Daniels Family cemetery at Boons Camp, Ky.

Gladys Mae Caudill
1941-2005
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 22, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Gladys Mae Caudill, 64, of River, Ky., who passed away Monday, Dec. 19 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville, Ky.
Mrs. Caudill was born April 7, 1941 at River, daughter of the late Elzie A. and Lattie Fannin Caudill. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are three brothers, Harry W. Caudill of Nippa, Ky., Sam Caudill of Blaine, Ky., and Harvey L. Caudill of River.
The service will be officiated by James Kelly Caudill and Terry Conley, with burial in the Caudill Family cemetery at Stambaugh, Ky.

James Hershell Castle
1934-2005
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 6, 11 a.m. at the Baker Branch Church at Tutor Key, Ky., for James Hershell Castle, 71, of Tutor Key, who passed away Friday, Dec. 2, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.
Mr. Castle was born Dec. 2, 1934 in Johnson County, Ky., son of the late William Bascum and Mamie Stambaugh Castle. He was a coal miner.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Price Castle of Tutor Key; three sons, William and Jimmy Castle, both of Louisa, Ky., and Glenn Castle of Villa-Rica, Ga.; two daughters, Regina Castle Dawson and Tammy Castle Curtis, both of Paintsville, Ky.; two brothers, William Jr. and Bob Castle, both of Tutor Key; and 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Roger VanHoose, Cort Daniel and Lon Meek, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville, Ky.

Leon Castle
1933-2005
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 22, 1 p.m. at George’s Creek United Baptist Church for Leon Castle, 72, of Lowmansville, Ky., who passed away Monday, Dec. 19 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
Mr. Castle was born April 4, 1933 in Johnson County, Ky., son of the late Monroe and Margie Stambaugh Castle. He was a retired coal miner.
Surviving are his wife, Golda Green Castle of Lowmansville; two sons, Richard Castle of Wittensville, Ky., and Douglas Leon Castle of Columbus, Ohio; three daughters, Brenda VanHoose of Nippa, Ky., and Betty Rowland and Kimberly Rice, both of Lowmansville; two brothers, Robert Castle of Auxier, Ky., and James Monroe Castle of Paducah, Ky.; three sisters, Betty Wright and Doris Caudill, both of Washington Courthouse, Ohio, and Vina Vickers of Wilkesbourgh, N.C.; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Burial will be in the Castle Family cemetery on Brown’s Fork at Lowmansville.

Paul Daniel Jones
1985-2005
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 29, 3 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Paul Daniel Jones, 20, of Lowmansville, Ky., who passed away Friday, Nov. 25 in Inez, Ky.
Mr. Jones was born Nov. 7, 1985 in Floyd County, Ky., son of Jesse Dean Jones and the late Kathy Edward Jones. He was a student at Morehead State University.
Surviving are his maternal grandparents, Claude and Joanne Edward of Bartow, Fla.; a maternal aunt, Cindy Edwards of Lowmansville; and two brothers, Karl David Jones of Morgantown, W.Va., and John William Jones of Minneapolis, Minn.
Burial was in the Holiday cemetery at Ary, Ky.

Alois ‘Pete’ Rice
1923-2006
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 22, 1 p.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel for Alois “Pete” Rice, 82, of Thealka, Ky., who passed away Thursday, Jan. 19 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Ky.
Mr. Rice was born Aug. 11, 1923 in Nippa, Ky., son of Clara Williams Rice and the late William McKinley Rice. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Curtis Rice. He was the owner and operator of Rice’s Auto Body Shop of Thealka.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Pauline C. Rice of Thealka; two brothers, Harold Leon Rice of Ocala, Fla., and Edsel Rice of Flatwoods, Ky.; two sisters, Marjorie Williams of Flatwoods and Floress Ann Collins of Huntington, W.Va.; two sisters-in-law, Julia C. Knight of Paintsville, Ky., and Reva Rice of Ashland, Ky.; one special nephew, Michael D. Sturgill; and one special great-niece, Elizabeth K. L. Sturgill.
The service were officiated by Bro. Jerry Burchett, Rev. Larry O’Bryan, and Ken Fuller, with entombment at the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, Ky. Military rites was conducted by the Auxier Chapter 16 DAV.

Elsie Castle
1923-2006
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 30, 11:30 a.m. at Connley Brothers Funeral Home in Latonia, Ky., for Elsie Castle, 83, who passed away Friday, Jan. 27 at St. Luke East Hospice Unit in Fort Thomas, Ky.
Mrs. Castle was a homemaker and a member of the United Baptist Church in Paintsville, Ky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Edward Castle.
Surviving are one son, Clyde T. Castle of Latonia; two daughters, Patricia Spradlin and Melissa Fryman, both of Latonia; and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Burial to follow the service at the Mother of God cemetery at Fort Wright, Ky.
