Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 30, 11 a.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home for Zetta Caudill, 84, of Flat Gap, Ky., who passed away Thursday, Jan. 26 at the Salyersville Health Care Center in Salyersville, Ky.
Mrs. Caudill was born Aug. 1, 1921 in Johnson County, Ky., daughter of the late Benjamin and Josephine Caudill Hitchcock. She was a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raleigh Caudill, ;one son, Ben Caudill; and one daughter, Garnett Ratliff.
Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Jane Caudill, and grandson, Jeremy Caudill, both of Flat Gap; and a son-in-law; Estill Ratliff of Denver, Ky.
The service was officiated by Elders James R. Blair and Jerry Colvin, with burial in the Lakeview Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville, Ky.

Calvin Gray
1926-2006
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 1, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Calvin Gray, 79, of East Point, Ky., who passed away Monday, Jan. 30 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Ky.
Mr. Gray was born Feb. 12, 1926, in Maysville, Ky., son of the late Adali A. and Pearl Shield Gray. He was a retired school teacher and a veteran of the U.S. Air Corps. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Myron E. Gray.
Surviving are his wife, Susie Robinson Gray of East Point; two daughters, Julianne (Gordy) Rider of East Point and Rosemary (Tim) Kast of Asheville, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Dr. Fred Klatka and Bro. Dave Flanery, with burial in the Robinson cemetery on Little Paint at East Point.

Conrad D. ‘C.D.’ Hester
1931-2006
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 1, 11 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Conrad D. “C.D.” Hester, 74, of Clarksville, Tenn., who passed away Thursday, Jan. 26 in Clarksville.
Mr. Hester was born May 16, 1931 in Johnson County, Ky., son of the late Elmer and Harriet Crider Hester. He was a retired U.S. Army sergeant.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanie Vest Hester of Clarksville, and one brother, Donald Hester of Elkhorn City, Ky.
The service will be officiated by Jerry Scott, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, Ky.

Alka Ethel Spriggs Wells
1912-2005
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 12, 3 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Alka Ethel Spriggs Wells, 93, of Paintsville, Ky., who passed away Saturday, Dec. 10 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mrs. Salyer was born May 10, 1912 in Johnson County, Ky., daughter of the late Henry and Clara Pack Spriggs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Wells. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are one son, George Cleo Wells of Meally, Ky.; one daughter, Carol Wells Bush of Winchester, Ky.; two sisters-in-law, Imogene Sammons and Garnetta Rucker, both of Van Lear, Ky.; several nieces and nephews; and nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by B. Joe Hill and Gerald Williamson, with burial following in the Wells Family cemetery at Meally.

Billy B. Salyer
1936-2005
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 12, 2 p.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel for Billy B. Salyer, 69, of Jamestown, Ky., who passed away Thursday, Dec. 8 at Russell County Hospital in Russell Springs, Ky.
Mr. Salyer was born April 20, 1936 in Flat Gap, Ky., son of the late Ralph Salyer and Jewell McKenzie. He was an engineering supervisor and a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Sue Conley of Jamestown; one son, Tony (Rhonda) Salyer of Jamestown; and one granddaughter, Tara Lanae Salyer of Jamestown.
The service was officiated by the Rev. Rick Neff, with burial in the Johnson County Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville, Ky.

Mary Lou Williams
1938-2005
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 14, 11 a.m. at the Tom’s Creek Free Will Baptist Church for Mary Lou Williams, 67, of Sitka, Ky., who passed away Sunday, Dec. 11 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Ky.
Mrs. Williams was born Oct. 17, 1938 in Floyd County, Ky., daughter of the late Carl and Virgie Bolden Burns.
Surviving are her husband, James W. Williams; three sons, Eugene Williams of Paintsville, Ky., Carl Dennis Williams of Junction City, Ky., and Harold Williams of Newton, Ga.; three daughters, Colene Williams Salyer and Mary Magilene Williams Keeton, both of Sitka, and Betty Lou Picklesimer of Tutor Key, Ky.; one step-son, James Thomas Williams of Carey, Ohio; four brothers, Harold Jay Burns of Wabash, Ind., and Corbit, Smith and Roy Lee Burns, all of Nippa, Ky.; one sister, Magidlene Burns of Tomahawk, Ky.; and 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by J.K. Caudill, Jimmy Price and Harold Williams, with burial in the Williams Family cemetery at Sitka.

Myrtle ‘Granny’ Pennington
1920-2005
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 14, 1:30 p.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church for Myrtle “Granny” Pennington, 85, who passed away Saturday, Dec. 10.
Mrs. Pennington was born April 3, 1920 in Estill, Ky., daughter of the late Sally Conley Gibson Martin and Tony Gibson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Pennington; four brothers, Clarence Gibson of Marion, Ohio, Donald Gibson of Columbus, Ohio, and Sam “C.B.” Gibson and Joe Martin, both of Estill; and one sister, Toni Jean Gibson of Dayton, Ohio.
Surviving are one sister, Kathryn (Gene) Currens of Louisville, Ky.; two brothers, Junior “Red” (Mildred) Martin of Estill and Charlie Martin of Salyersville, Ky.; two special nieces, Willa (Darrel) Terry and Linda Bourque, both of Marion; one special nephew, James (Sandy) Terry of Marion; and numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The service will be officiated by the Revs. Grover Caudill and Roger Fletcher, with burial in the Grand Prairie Cemetery.

Bethel Mae Fulton

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 10, noon, at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Bethel Mae Fulton, 74, of Hager Hill, Ky., who passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6 at her residence.
Mrs. Fulton was born March 1, 1931 in Johnson County, Ky., daughter of the late Everett Lee and Minnie Louise Spears Blevins. She was a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John R. Fulton.
Surviving are four sons, Roger Lee (Sharon) Ward of Lakeland, Fla., Jimmy (Renee) Blevins of Van Lear, Ky., Johnny Ray (Linda) Fulton of Leander, Ky., and Danny Lee (Charlotte) Fulton of West Van Lear, Ky.; four daughters, Phyllis (Ballard) Shepherd of Prestonsburg, Ky., Peggy (Gene) Brown of Van Lear, Ky., Martha Jane (Jack) Ward of Sitka, Ky., and Ella (Jr.) Damron of Collista, Ky.; one brother, Thomas (Faye) Davis of Chestnut, Ky.; and 30 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Roger Thornsbury, Joe Scott and Danny Ward, with burial following in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, Ky.
