Funeral services were held Thursday, June 8, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Fannie Lois VanHoose Butcher, 83, of Wittensville, Ky., who passed away Tuesday, June 6 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville, Ky.
Mrs. Butcher was born May 11, 1923 in Johnson County, Ky., daughter of the late Milton and Janie Witten VanHoose. She was retired from American Standard. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn “Curley” Butcher, and two grandchildren, James Wilburn and Angelique Butcher.
Surviving are four sons, Jimmy Wayne Butcher of Springfield, Ohio, Larry Milton (Annie) Butcher of Wittensville, Michael Dean (Lisa) Butcher of Ashland, Ky., and Donald Ray (Sherry) Butcher of Lawrence County, Ky.; one brother, Lifes VanHoose of Nippa, Ky.; and seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Terry Conley, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville, Ky.

Rebecca ‘Jo’ Johnson Anderson Vaughn
1915-2006
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 13, 1 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel for Rebecca “Jo” Johnson Anderson Vaughn, 90, of Prestonsburg, Ky., who passed away Thursday, June 8 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville, Ky.
Mrs. Vaughn was born Sept. 15, 1915 in Cannel City, Ky., daughter of the late William Sandford Johnson and Myrtle Alexander. She was a retired executive housekeeper, and a hospital volunteer. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Garland Vaughn, and second husband, Foster Anderson, and two daughters, Loretta Lee Hammond and Patricia Ann Bach.
Surviving are one brother, Bill Johnson of Fayetteville, N.C.; and six great grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by the Rev. Travis Risner, with burial in the Richmond cemetery at Prestonsburg, Ky.

Thomas Ireland Cantrell
1933-2006
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 3, 1 p.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel of Paintsville, Ky., for Thomas Ireland Cantrell, 72, of Oil Springs, Ky., who passed away Thursday, June 1 at his daughter’s residence in Oil Springs.
Mr. Cantrell was born Nov. 2, 1933. He was a U.S. Army and National Guard veteran, and an employee of Ashland Oil. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Cantrell.
Surviving are his daughter, Vicki (Lonnie) Kelly of Oil Springs; one granddaughter, Sherry (Robert) Combs of Oil Springs; and two great-grandsons, Drew and Kyle Combs.
The service was officiated by Elders Buster Blanton, John R. Pelphrey and Eulas Adams, with burial in the Cantrell Family cemetery at Oil Springs.

Annabelle Dixon Daniel

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 3, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Annabelle Dixon Daniel, 86, who passed away Sunday, May 28 in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Mrs. Daniel was born Jan. 9, 1920 in Johnson County, Ky., daughter of the late Rolla and Lilli Conley Dixon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Buell Dixon, and one brother, Garland Dixon.
Surviving are one sister, Dorothy Shroyer of Kentucky; two nephews, Roger (Carolyn) Dixon of Hopkins, Mich., and Ken (Gale) Dixon of Ohio; one niece, Marcia Helton of Kentucky; and two sisters-in-law, Aileen Dixon of Kentucky and Zona Songer of Paintsville, Ky.
The service was officiated by Larry O’Brian, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, Ky.

Annette Dale Donaldson Justice

Memorial services will be held Sunday, June 11, 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Paintsville, Ky., for Annette Dale Donaldson Justice, 83, of Paintsville, who passed away Friday, June 2 at her residence.
Mrs. Justice was born Aug. 16, 1922 in Pike County, Ky., daughter of the late Clarence Donaldson and Laura Pratt. She was a retired Paintsville City Clerk. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Quentin Justice, and one son, Kenneth Justice.
Surviving are three sons, Danny Q. (Gatha) and John L. (Liddie) Justice, both of Pikeville, Ky., and Tom D. (Brenda) Justice of Pasadena, Texas; one brother, Bill Donaldson of Franklin, N.C.; one sister, Bobbie Donaldson Rogers of Pikeville; and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Lillie Mae ‘Lil’ Kestner Young

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 6, 11 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Lillie Mae “Lil” Kestner Young, 64, of Tutor Key, Ky., who passed away Saturday, June 3 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Ky.
Mrs. Young was born March 19, 1942 in Johnson County, Ky., daughter of Alliene Kestner of Hager Hill, Ky., and the late Elzie Kestner. She was a retired cashier. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Abby Lynn Young.
Surviving are her husband, Albert “Abb” Young of Tutor Key; one daughter, Jaime Susanne (Marvin) Welch of Whitehouse, Ky.; seven brothers, Donald, Paul, Harry D., and Timothy J. Kestner, all of Hager Hill, Ronald Kestner of Meally, Ky., Elzie Kestner of Sitka, Ky., and Clifford Kestner of Keaton, Ky.; three sisters, Sebrena Kestner and Beatrice “Susie” Warrix, both of Hager Hill, and Christine Bowens of Pikeville, Ky.; and one granddaughter, Kaylee Welch.
The service was officiated by Harold Conley and Jeff Burchett, with burial in the Lakeview cemetery at Staffordsville, Ky.

William J. Daniels

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 6, 1 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home at Hager Hill, Ky., for William J. Daniels, 38, formerly of Auxier, Ky., who passed away Saturday, June 3 in Sparta, Tenn.
Mr. Daniels was born March 9, 1968 in Wabash, Ind., son of Virgie Webb Daniels and the late Paul L. Daniels. He was employed by Waynesville Automotive.
Surviving in addition to his mother are two sons, William and Travis Daniels of Sparta; one sister, Paula Daniels of Sparta; and two brothers, Paul Daniels of Beaver Creek, Ohio, and Stuart Daniels of Chattanooga, Tenn.
The service was officiated by Shane Powers and Bob Varney, with burial in the Crider-Goble-Webb cemetery at Auxier.

Charlie Eldridge
1943-2006
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 1, 1 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home in Paintsville, Ky., for Charlie Eldridge, 63, of Thelma, Ky., who passed away Tuesday, May 30 at his residence.
Mr. Eldridge was born March 12, 1943 in Lexington, Ky., son of Hazel Shultz of Thelma and the late Charlie Eldridge Jr. He was retired from Lucient Tech and West Electric and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was also preceded in death by one son, Buddy Eldridge.
Surviving are one son, Michael Eldridge of Paintsville; two daughters, Bonnie Sweat of Louisville, Ky., and Carolyn Blevins of Paintsville, Ky.; one sister, Tricia Curtsinger of New Port, Ky.; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and two nephews.
Burial will be in the family cemetery at Salyersville, Ky.
