Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 7, 11 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Juanita Yates Stapleton, 87, of Volga, Ky., who passed away Sunday, April 5 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
Mrs. Stapleton was born Oct. 11, 1921 in Johnson County, Ky., daughter of the late Chat Yates and Jewel Meade. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Stapleton; one daughter, Joan Carol Scott; one sister, Georgie Weather; one brother, Howard Rusty Yates; and one son-in-law, Michael D. Collins.
Surviving are four daughters Dona S. Collins and Tama (George) Ramey, both of Stambaugh, Ky.; Debbie (Danny) Layne of Prestonsburg, Ky., and Teresa (Jim) O’Bryan of Volga; two sisters, Patricia Adkins of Catlettsburg, Ky., and Alene (Wendell) Hayes of Frankfort, Ky.; and nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Jerry Scott and Tim Salyers, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville, Ky.

Charley Duty
1940-2009
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 9, 1 p.m. at the DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home in Columbia City, Ind., for Charley Duty, 68, of Pierceton, Ind., who passed away Sunday, April 5 at his residence.
Mr. Duty was born May 5, 1940 in Van Lear, Ky., son of the late Russell and Georgene Adams Duty. He was a retired machinist for Zimmer Inc. in Warsaw, Ind. He was also preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Arville Duty, Russell Duty III, Ted Duty, Don Duty, Virgie Duty and Virgil Duty.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Gaile Duty of Pierceton; six children, Troy Duty and Tammie (Tom) Davis, both of Warsaw, Georgina (Paul) Taber of Paducah, Ky., Roy (Deb) Fields and Jessica Fields, both of Pierceton, and Charles (Kim) Newman of Goshen, Ind.; five brothers and sisters, Larry (Nancy) Duty of Van Lear, Tom Duty of Paintsville, Ky., Jack (Sue) Duty of Blacksburg, Va., Marie (Stoney) Rowland of Stanton, Ky., and Judy Ann (Earl) Ward Sr. of Claypool, Ind.; and six grandchildren.
Burial will be in the Hillcrest cemetery in Pierceton.

Nevard Wells
1922-2009
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 5, 2 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Nevard Wells, 87, of Van Lear, Ky., who passed away Friday, April 3 at his residence.
Mr. Wells was born March 27, 1922 in Johnson County, Ky., son of the late Benjamin and Susanna Richmond Wells. He was a retired supervisor with the Department of Reclamation, and a U.S. Army WWII veteran. He was also preceded in death by one son, Dwayne Wells.
Surviving are his wife, Genene Wells of Van Lear; one son, Garold Wendell (Carol) Wells of Van Lear; two sisters, Emma Deloris Adkins of Van Lear, and Mary Frances Walton of Lexington, Ky.; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by David Rolland Wells, with burial in the Wells Family cemetery at Van Lear.

Leona Baldridge Haney

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 4, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Leona Baldridge Haney, 93, of Paintsville, Ky., who passed away Wednesday, April 1 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
Mrs. Haney was born Feb. 25, 1916 in Johnson County, Ky., daughter of the late Jim and Mandy Baldridge. She was a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Buck Haney; and two sons, Eugene and Franklin Haney.
Surviving are three sons, Charles (Donna) Haney of Springfield, Ohio, and Bob (Alice) Haney of Wabash, Ind., and Ray Haney of Paintsville; two daughters, Evagean (Charles) Hensley of Ashland, Ky., and Hazel (James) Hensley of Paintsville; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by William Paul Perkins, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville, Ky.

Robert Ishmael Adams

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 4, 11 a.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Robert Ishmael Adams, 68, of Nippa, Ky., who passed away Tuesday, March 31 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville, Ky.
Mr. Adams was born Nov. 13, 1940 in Johnson County, Ky., son of the late Thurman Jack and Ollia Mae Castle Adams. He was employed with Pepsi Bottling Company and a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Sparks Adams of Nippa; two sons, James T. Adams of Nippa, and Robert Adams of River, Ky.; one daughter, Sandra J. Adams Crabtree of Nippa; and three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Tom Blackburn, with burial in the Adams Family cemetery at Nippa.

Wilber J. Green

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 24, at the Holden Community Church, Holden, W. Va. for Wilber J. Green, 85, of Sitka, who passed away May 21 at Prestonsburg Health Care, Prestonsburg.
He was born May 15, 1924 in Johnson County, son of the late Jesse J. and Ina Mae Wheeler Green.
He is survived by his wife Dottie Rice Green; three sons, Michael J. Green, Lexington, Jim Green, Hudsonville, Mich. and Mark Green, Oconomowoc, Mich.; one daughter, Pamela J. Hawkins, Ballwin, Mo., 12 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
The service was conducted by Jim McKenzie, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens, Holden, W. Va.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 24, at the Chestnut Grove Enterprise Baptist Church, Lowmansville, for Stella Sue McFaddin Daniels, 74, of West Van Lear, who passed away May 21 at Riverview Health Care Center, Prestonsburg.
She was born Dec. 8, 1934, in Johnson County, daughter of the late Worth and Alma Murphy McFaddin.
She was a homemaker.
She was also preceded in death by her husband Joe Daniels.
She is survived by one daughter, Dottie Preston, West Van Lear; and one step daughter.
The service was conducted by Terry Conley and Kenny Wright, with burial in the Preston cemetery at East Point.

Doris Hitchcock

Graveside services were held Sunday, May 24, at the Johnson County Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, for Doris Hitchcock, 64, who passed away May 21 at her residence in Largo, Fla.
She was born Aug. 30, 1944, in Langenselbold, Germany, daughter of the late Peter Johan and Anna Leubeck Muller. She was a nurse. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Hitchcock.
She is survived by one son, Andy Hitchcock, Tampa, Fla; and one daughter, Tamra Kay Benz, Largo, Fla; and one granddaughter.
The service was conducted by Chuck Cannon, with burial at the Johnson County Memorial cemetery at Staffordsville.
