Funeral services were held Monday, March 16, 11 a.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Mabel Billiter, 76, of East Point, Ky., who passed away Friday, March 13 at King’s Daughters Regional Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
Mrs. Billiter was born Jan. 23, 1933 in Johnson County, Ky., daughter fo the late Basil and Alta Blair. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard “Hub” Billiter.
Surviving are three sons, Danny and David Billiter of East Point, and Jimmy Billiter of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Janice Castle of Oil Springs, Ky., and Joyce Hensley to Riceville, Ky.; five brothers, Roy, Gary, Fred and Bill Blair, all of Paintsville, Ky., and Gene Blair of Ohio; two sisters, Judy Beard of Riceville and Opal Williams of Waverly, Ohio; and eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Kenny Pelphrey, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville, Ky.
Arrangements under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Marie Cline
1916-2009
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 17, 2 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Marie Cline, 92, of Van Lear, Ky., who passed away Friday, March 13 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Ky.
Mrs. Cline was born Sept. 19, 1916 in Floyd County, Ky., daughter of the late L. J. and Rose Fraley Harris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Cline; one son, Manford Cline and one daughter, Rose Ann Burchett.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy Richmond and Linda Little, both of Van Lear; one sister, Helen Burke of Alabama; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville, Ky.
Arrangements under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville, Ky.

Walter Mollett
1932-2009
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 15, 2 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Walter Mollett, 76, of Kermit, W.Va., who passed away Friday, March 13 at his residence.
Mr. Mollett was born Aug. 1, 1932, son of the late Albert and Bessie Stanley Mollett. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Mollett; one son, Walter Mollett Jr.; and one daughter, Melinda White.
Surviving are one son, David (Judy) Mollett of Kermit; four brothers, William Mollett of Inez, Ky., Clyde Mollett of Kermit, Chester Mollett of Wayne, W.Va., and Edward Mollett of South Carolina; two sisters, Roberta Crum and Linda Chaffins, both of Kermit; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Ken Allen, with burial in the Mollett cemetery at Kermit.
Arrangements under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Inez.

Nellowene Blair Fairchild
1947-2009
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 12, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Nellowene Blair Fairchild, 61, of Staffordsville, Ky., who passed away Wednesday, April 8 at her residence.
Mrs. Fairchild was born May 2, 1947 in Johnson County, Ky., daughter of Mary Louise Baldwin Blair of Denver, Ky., and the late Hansel Blair. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband, Ivan Fairchild of Staffordsville; one son, Greg (Carrie) Fairchild of Staffordsville; two daughters, Jennie (Mike) Murray of Sitka, Ky., and Tammy (Dr. Jason) Rice of Paintsville, Ky.; two brothers, Benson Blair of Hager Hill, Ky., and Toy Blair of Denver; four sisters, Eldalene Haney, Vickie Wheeler, and Anna Rose Spradlin, all of Denver, and Burletta Ratliff of Staffordsville; and four grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by the Revs. Donald Ray Caudill, Jeff Harman, and Joe Harman, with burial in the Fairchild Family cemetery at Staffordsville.

James T. Conley
1932-2009
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Inez, Ky., for James T. Conley, 76, of Inez, who passed away Wednesday, April 8.
Mr. Conley was born June 28, 1932, son of the late Bill and Blanche Thomas Conley. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Bill Conley Jr.
Surviving are one daughter, Belinda Maggard of Paintsville, Ky., and one brother, Jack Conley of Columbus, Ohio.
The service will be officiated by Paul Schmidt, Charles Stewart, Harold Salyers and Rodney Hale, with burial following in the Conley-McKenzie cemetery at Flat Gap, Ky.

Edith Phyllis
Williams Murphy
1935-2009
A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday, Feb. 2, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Fowlerville, Mich., for Edith Phyllis Williams Murphy, 73, of Fowlerville, who passed away Thursday, Jan. 29.
Mrs. Murphy was born July 18, 1935 in Van Lear, Ky., daughter of the late Houston E. and Thelma Picklesimer Williams. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Earl K. and Delmar B. Williams, and three sisters, Mary Williams, Jane Brown and Nancy Wells.
Surviving are her husband, Glen Murphy of Fowlerville; two daughters, Glenda Carole (Wes) Brown of Fowlerville, and Phyllis Jean Murphy-Kennedy of St. Louis, Mo.; three sisters, Retha Fox of Florida, Ruth Fraley Stambaugh of Prestonsburg, Ky., and Glenna L. Music of Van Lear; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Father James Lothamer, with burial in the Mount Olivet cemetery in Fowlerville.

Joanne Witten
1935-2009
Funeral services will be held today, Friday, April 10, 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Joanne Witten, 73, of Sitka, Ky., who passed away Tuesday, April 7, at Mountain Manor Nursing Home in Paintsville, Ky.
Ms. Witten was born July 22, 1935 in Johnson County, Ky., daughter of the late Chester and Virgie Welch Witten. She was a legal secretary for J.K. Wells.
Surviving are two brothers, Chester Witten II and Harold “Pete” Witten, both of Sitka; one sister, Jackie R. Arrowood of Thelma, Ky.; and 17 nieces and nephews.
The services will be officiated by Steve Trimble, with burial following in the Witten Family cemetery at Sitka.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Charles Raymond (Red) Fairchild
1944-2009
Funeral services were held April, 27 at 1 p.m. at Phelps and Son Funeral Home, Paintsville, for Charles Raymond (Red) Fairchild, 64, of Staffordsville.
Mr. Fairchild was born Oct. 26, 1944, son of the late Raymond Fairchild and Mary Blair. He was a coal miner.
He is survived by by his wife Nancy Walters Fairchild; one son, Timothy Charles Fairchild, Huntsville, Ala.; three daughters, Pamela Kay VanHoose, East Point, Charlotte Ann Wallen, Hager Hill, and Rebecca Pelfrey, Staffordsville; four brothers, Herbert (Don) Fairchild, West Van Lear, Ulysses (Jake) Howard, Hager Hill, Ernie Fairchild, Paintsville, and Robert Fairchild, Richmond, Ky.; one sister, Judy Lafferty, Wabash, Ind.; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
The service was officiated by Lee Music, Gerald Fairchild and Terry Conley, with burial in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville.
