Funeral services were held at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, October 8 for Larry Pennington, 67, of Flat Gap, who passed away in his residence on Thursday, October 5.
Burial followed in the Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville.
Arrangements were under the care of Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.
James Macklin Cox
1926-2017
James Macklin Cox, 90, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017 at Hospice Compassionate Care Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Pack Cox in 2001.
Mr. Cox was born October 31, 1926 in Madison County, the son of Jonah B. and Hallie Coy Cox, both of whom preceded him in death. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Kirksville Christian Church. He was a farmer, as well as an entrepreneur, having owned a tobacco warehouse, a trucking company, the Kentucky Cabin Inn Restaurant in Morehead, and a carwash. He was also a photographer and the publisher of Madison County Newsweek. As a young man, Mr. Cox was an avid pilot.
Survivors include one son, Mack (Sharon) Cox of Richmond; one daughter, Terry Cox (Robert) Epps of Corpus Christi, Texas; two grandchildren, Hallie Epps and Danielle Epps; and one nephew, Billy O’Donnell.
Funeral services for James Cox will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Dr. Glenn Birkett officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

1925 – 2017
Funeral services were held in the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, October 9, for Clifford Booth, 92, of Van Lear, who passed away at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center on Thursday, October 5.
Burial followed in the Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville.

Mary Lou Lemaster
1940 – 2017
Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 8 at the Phelps & Son Funeral Chapel for Mary Lou Lemaster, 77, of Leander, who passed away at her residence on Thursday, October 5.
Burial followed in the Hannah-Lemaster cemetery in Leander.
Arrangements were under the care of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville.
Rexford Stapleton, Jr.
1952 – 2017
Funeral services were held at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 10 for Rexford Stapleton, Jr., 64, of Flat Gap, who passed away Thursday, October 5 at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Burial followed in the Stapleton cemetery in Flat Gap.
Arrangements were under the care of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville.
Anna Louise Davis Reed
1943-2017
Anna Louise Davis Reed, 74, of Whippoorwill, died Friday, Sept. 29 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.
She was born Aug. 5, 1943 in Johnson County, the daughter of the late Rev. Glen and Amanda Caudill Davis of Paintsville. She was a homemaker, wife, and beloved mother.
The fourth of eight children, she was preceded in death by her father and mother, three sisters, Pauline Davis McCarty of Magoffin County, Betty Jean Davis Puckett of Royalton, and Juanita Sue Davis of Paintsville; three brothers, William “Buddy Jack” Matthew Haney of Paintsville, Roy Rogers Davis of Johnson County, and Glenn Davis Jr. of Ohio.
Ann had been a Christian for 59 years and a member of the Tutor Key Community Baptist Church for 13 years.
Ann met James Donald Reed on June 4, 1959. They became husband and wife and were married
for 58 years.
Ann is survived by her husband, James Donald Reed; six children, Anita Gail Martin of Paintsville, Rita Cheryl Blair of East Point, Terry Dean Reed of Whippoorwill, Jonathan Glen Reed of Staffordsville, Donald Marcus Reed of Williamsport, and Anthony Dwayne Reed of Nippa; one sister, Virginia Carol Davis Reed of Paintsville; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a host of nieces and nephews.
All who ever met Ann or knew her loved her, and it is certain she will be sadly missed by all.
Felix Adkins
1939-2017
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 6, 12 p.m., at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Felix Adkins, 78, of Meally, who passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3.
Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Park cemetery at Staffordsville.

James Ernest Daniel
1952-2017
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, 11 a.m. at the Staffordsville Free Will Baptist Church for James Ernest Daniel, 64, of Staffords ville, who passed away Monday, Oct. 2 at his residence.
He was born Oct. 17, 1952 in Johnson County, son of the late James Lafe and Ruby Daniel Daniels. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, William Daniels; brothers and sisters, Danny Daniels, Eddie Ratliff, Joyce Hughes and Gail Perkins; and also several half-brother and –sisters.
Surviving are his wife, Georgean Caudill Daniel, one daughter, Gretta (Jeremy) Colemire of Richmond; brothers he was raised with, Fred and Vincel Ratliff, both of West Van Lear, and Raymond Daniels of Stambaugh; five grandchildren, Macy Bayes, Mason Bayes, Miles Bayes, Jadalyn Colemire and Kaylee Colemire; and several half-brothers and –sisters.
The service was officiated by Jimmy Price, Wendell Ison and Toby Wheeler, with burial in the Staffordsville Church Cemetery.

Rebecca Susan Conley Yates
1957-2017
Rebecca Susan Conley Yates, 61, of Paintsville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.

Shirley Ann Green
1938-2017
Funeral services were held Saturday Nov. 4, 2017, 1 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Shirley Ann Green, 79, of Sitka, who passed away Thursday, Nov. 2 at Pikeville Medical Center.
Mrs. Green was born Oct. 11, 1938 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Charlie and Della Miller Simpson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Douglas Green.
Surviving are two sons, Tim (Kathy) Green of Sitka, and Mike (Rosemary) Green of Cynthiana; one daughter, Robin Shepherd of Sitka; one sister, Lora Shepherd of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Bryce Shepherd, Lauren Shepherd, Travis Green, Jason, Green, Jessica Green, Daniel and Ryne Green; and two great-grandchildren, Natalie Rose Green and Andrew Green.
The service was officiated by Keith Albright, with burial in the Green Family cemetery at Sitka.
