Ozetta Petty, 91, Henderson, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at Community Methodist Hospital.
She was a member of Eastend Tabernacle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, O.R., who died in 1962.
Survivors include one daughter, Ilyene Carter of Henderson; one son, L.R. Petty of Fort Smith, Ark.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The Revs. Mike Littrell and William Collins will officiate. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree.

Loretta Williams
Loretta Williams, 63, Henderson, died at 3 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, at her home.
A member of First Missionary Baptist Church, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by one son, Larry Shelton, who died in 1994.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Harvey and Michelle Williams, both of Henderson; one son, Michael Williams of Henderson; two sisters, Janice Thomas of Detroit and Willetta Weathers of Evansville; two brothers, Donald Rogers of Detroit and Harold Washington of Chicago; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Robert Esters will officiate. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery.

Harry Eisenhauer
STURGIS -- Harry Eisenhauer, 57, died at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at his home here.
He was a corrections officer for the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville, a member of Maranatha Baptist Church, a former Madisonville police officer and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon; one daughter, Tracy Nelson of Manitou; one stepdaughter, Susan Corley of Sullivan; two sons, Thomas Eisenhauer of Hanson and Scotty Eisenhauer of Newburgh, Ind.; one stepson, Kevin Wright of Sturgis; two brothers, Paul Eisenhauer of Newport News, Va., and Fred Eisenhauer of Hendersonville, Tenn.; and 11 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville. The Revs. Van William and Mike DeMoss will officiate. Burial will be in Hanson Cemetery.

PROVIDENCE -- Lillian Edna "Granny" Cowen, 82, Providence, died at 8:38 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at Caldwell County Hospital in Princeton.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting. She was also of the Holiness faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil.
Survivors include two daughters, Rose Stewart of Providence and Linda O'Reilly of Dawson Springs; three sons, George Cowen of Cadiz, Gideon E. Cowen of Frankfort and Gary Cowen of Madisonville; two sisters, Emma Ashby of Danville, Ind., and Ernestine Whitten of California; 19 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.

GARY, Ind. -- Helen T. Chambers, 63, formerly of Henderson, died at 4:05 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, at her home here.
A retired homemaker, she was the president of the 23rd Avenue Block since its inception in 1982.
Survivors include her husband, George L.; two daughters, Carolyn Nadine Chambers and Barbara Guerra, both of Gary; one son, George Chambers Jr. of Milwaukee; her stepmother, Jamie Tillerson of Henderson; five sisters, Martha Lisembee and Rosezella Gilbert, both of Henderson, Linda Sue Lightfoot of St. Louis, Sheila Washington of Evansville and Maxine Daniels of Oakland, Calif.; and two brothers, Lawrence DeJarnett and William DeJarnett, both of Henderson.

Emily Workins Schwartz, 88, Henderson, died at 10:40 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998 at Redbanks nursing home.
A member of Bennett Memorial United Methodist Church, she was a Girl Scout Leader for Troop No. 4 and was formerly President of the Henderson City High School PTA. She also worked for Audubon Area Community Services for 10 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Schwartz, who died in 1965.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret McElwain of Madisonville; one son, C. Edward Schwartz of Naperville, Ill.; one sister, Mattie Lou Reed of Henderson; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.

Virginia Pauline Cooper, 101, Henderson, died at 8:50 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998 at Redbanks nursing home.
She was the oldest member of First Baptist Church. She retired in 1965 after 50 years as a first-grade teacher in Henderson County and was employed at the Henderson County Public Library following her retirement.
Survivors include two nieces and four nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.

LOUISVILLE -- Nellie Mae Clark, 94, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
She was of the Presbyterian faith and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph Clark.
Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Faye Clark of Huntingburg, Ind.; one son, Beverly M. Clark of Evansville; two grandsons; and two great-granddaughters; nieces and nephews.

Zelpha Whitmore Davis, 95, Henderson, died at 5:25 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998, at Medco Center of Henderson.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaston D., who died in 1971 and a son, Raymond D. Davis, who died in 1993.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathleen Overfield of Henderson; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, nieces and nephews.

Sarah Tharp Sands
CALHOUN -- Sarah Tharp Sands, 80, Calhoun, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998, at Owensboro Mercy Health Systems in Owensboro.
A homemaker, she was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert Franklin, who died July 5, 1968, and her second husband, Ellis E. Sands.
Survivors include one daughter, Wilma Tharp Knight of Fordsville, Ky.; three sons, Lee Franklin Tharp of Princeton, Ind., William Tharp of Beech Grove, Ky., and Wayne Tharp of Calhoun; one sister, Mae Abrams of Poplar Grove, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

James Lee "Jim" McGraw
James Lee "Jim" McGraw, 59, Cairo, died at 9:06 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.
A maintenance supervisor at PB&S Chemical Co. for 13 years, he was a member of Cairo United Methodist Church, where he held numerous offices and served on many committees, and where he was a member of the Cairo United Methodist Men. He was a charter member and on the board of directors of the Cairo Volunteer Fire Department, a Kentucky Colonel and was a member and past master of Henderson Lodge No. 958 F&AM. He also served as a board member of the Sheriff's Advisory Board and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Jane Ann; one daughter, Jana Heierman of Cairo; one son, Jarrod McGraw of Cairo; his father, Wilson McGraw of Sebree; one brother, Bobby McGraw of Crab Orchard, Tenn.; three granddaughters; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The Revs. Garnett Slone and Tom Eblen will officiate. Burial will be in Eblen Cemetery in Henderson County.

STURGIS -- Ruth Lee Alvis, 85, Sturgis, formerly of Sebree, died at 1 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998, at Union County Methodist Hospital in Morganfield.
She was a member of Phillips Chapel C.M.E. Church in Sturgis, where she served on the Stewardesses and Trustee Boards and the Missionary Society. She also had been active with the Order of the Eastern Star Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel, who died in 1979.
Survivors include one daughter, Vanetta Alvis of Sturgis; one son, James Reginald Alvis of Sturgis; two sisters, Odessa Williams of Lake Ville, Wis., and Roberta Smith of Indianapolis; three granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at noon Monday at Phillips Chapel C.M.E. Church. Elder John Frazier will officiate. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree.

FORT PIERCE, Fla. -- Lester Spainhoward, 73, formerly of Providence, died at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998, here.
He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, having received the Bronze Star, and he was also a member of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, who died in 1992.
Survivors include six daughters, Sheila E. Haywood and Brenda Harris, both of Fort Pierce, Edith Marie Clayton of Bricktown, N.J., Nancy L. Brakefield and Linda Moorehead, both of Heflin, Ala., and Roxanne Smith of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one son, Lester Lee Spainhoward of Fort Pierce; one sister, Jean Harralson of Kentucky; and one brother, Charles Spainhoward of Kentucky.

PROVIDENCE -- Wiley C. "Pete" Dunbar, 86, Providence, died at 4:50 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, at Shemwell Nursing Home here.
A U.S. World War II veteran, he was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 5484 and a retired coal miner for the Island Creek Coal Company, Uniontown Mine. He was also a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church for many years.
Survivors include two sisters, Joyce Craft and Audra Phelps, both of Providence; nieces and nephews.

MADISONVILLE -- Mildred Willett McGaw, 92, died at 6:10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, at her home here.
A member of The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Earlington, Ky., she was a retired elementary school teacher of 47 years in Union and Hopkins counties. She retired from West Broadway where she had taught for 15 years. She was a graduate of Western Kentucky State Teachers' College. She had been affiliated with the Association for Childhood Education, Delta Kappa Gamma Society for Women Educators, Business and Professional Women's Club, charter member and past president of the Hill and Dale Garden Club, Retired Teachers' Association and the Stephen Ashby Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, who died July 19, 1985.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Smith of Madisonville and Judy Coburn of Waverly; three sisters, Doris Hicks of Bryson City, N.C., Helen Cordell and Frances McGregor, both of Louisville; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

JUPITER, Fla. -- Michelle Cates Bryant, 32, Jupiter, formerly of Evansville, died at 10:50 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998, at Jupiter Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.
Survivors include her mother, Betty Wathen of West Palm Beach, Fla.; her father, Jimmy Cates of Seabrook, Texas; two sisters, Gail Rone of Henderson and Robin Batts of West Palm Beach; two brothers, Michael Cates of Midland, Texas, and Keith Cates of Rock Hill, S.C.; nieces and nephews.
