ANNA COX
Anna Laura Smock Cox, 71, of 118 McIntyre Circle, Danville, died Friday, February 19, 1999 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.
Born July 23, 1927 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late John Lee and Effie Dora Dearing Smock, and was the widow of William Earl Cox.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three sons, William Loyd Cox, Jessamine County, Robert Wayne Cox and Larry Gene Cox, both of Boyle County; one daughter, Betty Joyce Absher, Lincoln County; one step son, George Lee Cox, Garrard County; two sisters, Lettie Baker, Nicholasville, and Myrtle Cox, Lawrenceburg; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and nine step great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, February 22, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bobby Potts officiating. Burial was in the Bluegrass Memorial Gardens, Jessamine County.
Pallbearers were Johnny Adams, James Rogers, Terry Absher, Tracy Davis, Floyd Graham, and Robert E. Cox. Grandchildren served as honorary bearers.

LEILA WILLS
Leila Byrd Finney Wills, 85, of Harrodsburg, formerly of Paris, widow of Andrew Shirel Wills, died Saturday, February 20, 1999 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
A native of Bourbon County, she was born October 23, 1913 to the late Claude Swanson and Pearl Hines Finney.
She was a retired cafeteria manager for the Paris Elementary and Bourbon County Junior High Schools. She was a 1931 graduate of the North Middletown High School and was a member of the Paris Christian Church.
Survivors include: one sister, Myrtle Finney Wigglesworth, Paris; a granddaughter, Leila Kathryn Atwood, Harrodsburg; one grandson, Andrew Farris Wills of VA; two daughters-in-law, Ann P. Wills, with whom she lived in Harrodsburg, and Nancy F. Wills, Annandale, VA; five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, James Leslie Wills and Claude Stephen Wills; two sisters, Georgia Wilson Finney and Anna Belle Finney Clark.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 24, at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home in Paris with Bro. Dean Martin officiating. Burial was in the Paris Cemetery.
Pallbearers were William "Bill" Hudnall, George Wigglesworth, Jimmy McIlvain, Tom Harlan, Billy Clark, Don Hines and Jerry Weaver. Honorary bearers were Chester Wigglesworth, William Robert McIntire, Robert Toohey and Paul Sanders.

Rose Cole Stratton, 74, of Bonds Mill Road, Lawrenceburg, died Monday, February 22, 1999 at her residence.
Born March 26, 1924 in Mercer County she was the daughter of the late Grace Henrietta Morris and Jesse Ernest Cole. She was the widow of S. O. "June" Stratton.
She was a member of the Goshen Baptist Church and a former employee of Kraft Foods in Lawrenceburg.
Survivors include: five sisters, Pearl Leathers, Campbellsville, Pauline Shields, Lawrenceburg, Maxine Hahn, Bardstown, Imogene Drury, Lexington, and Henrietta Broughton, Bardstown; five brothers, Jesse Allen Cole, Lexington, Kenneth Cole, Harrodsburg, Jack Cole, Newark DE and Franklin and Rollin Cole, both of Lawrenceburg. She was preceded in death by a brother, C. T. Cole.
Funeral services were Wednesday, February 24, at the Ritchie-Peach-Todd Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, with Bro. Rick White and Bro. Mike Hamrick officiating. Burial was in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Allen Cole, Donald Cole, Danny Cole, Gary Cole, Mark Willard and Ricky Bowman. Nieces and nephews were honorary bearers.

SIDNEY LOWE
Sidney Lowe, 86, of Hillcrest Drive, Danville, died Saturday, February 20, 1999 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
A native of Washington County, he was born on August 20, 1912 to the late Elmer Eugene and Rachel Frances Powell Lowe.
He was a member of the Mackville Baptist Church, a retired farmer and an avid gardener.
Survivors include: his wife, Katherine Milburn Lowe, Danville; one son, James Neal Lowe, Danville; four daughters, Margaret Bunch and Mrs. Garland (Gladys) Carney, both of Springfield, Mrs. Leon (Janice) Fenwick and Debbie Lowe, both of Danville; one brother, James Wallace Lowe, Colorado Springs, CO; 11 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, June Clark and two brothers, J. M. and Loraine Lowe.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 23, at the Carey and Son Funeral Home, Springfield, with Rev. Doug Wesley officiating. Burial was in Peter Cemetery, Mackville.
Pallbearers were Dale Carney, Todd Carney, Chris Lowe, Patrick Lowe, Steve Keene and Jimmy Tingle. Honorary bearers were Dr. Daniel J. Moran, Don Ellis, Jimmy Clark, Earl Grigsby and Kenneth Riley.

ESTHER COYLE
Esther Mae Cox Coyle, 92, of 208 Baughman Ave., Danville, died Monday, February 22, 1999, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born April 18, 1906 in Marion County, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Maggie Jane Dearing Cox. She was the widow of William "Joe" Coyle, who died March 5, 1994.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Danville Church of Christ.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Lucille) Smith, and Mrs. Billy Ray (Louise) Manning, both of Danville; one brother, Beeler Cox, Forkland; three granddaughters.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 25, at the Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville with Steve Wolfgang officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Perryville.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

TAYLOR TRUITT
Taylor Truitt, 50, of Lafayette, IN, formerly of Clinton, was found dead of natural causes at his home February 12, 1999.
Born in Clinton, IN, March 12, 1948, he was the son of Mrs. Richard M. Logan of Harrodsburg, and the late Harry Elton Truitt.
He was a journeyman lineman, a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and a member of the Jerusalem Lodge #99, F&AM in Clinton, IN.
He was a graduate of Clinton High School, class of 1966, a veteran of the US Marine Corps, having served in Vietnam for five years.
Survivors include: his mother, Jane Logan and her husband, Richard Logan, Harrodsburg; one son, Todd Truitt, Terre Haute, IN; two sisters, Dana Lee Tincher and her husband, James, E. of Berea, and Dawn Rae Summerville of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 17, at the Frist Funeral Home in Clinton In with pastor Diane McCracken officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park with full military rites by American Legion Post 140 of Clinton.

FLOYD ROGERS
Floyd Milton Rogers, 73, of 335 Shewmaker Lane, died Tuesday, February 23, 1999 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born December 18, 1925 in Shelby Counlty, he was the son of the late Allen K. Rogers, Jr., and the late Beulah Mae Crawford Rogers.
He was a laboratory assistant at B. F. Goodrich Chemical and a member of the West End Church of Christ, Danville.
He was an army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Emma Margaert Gill Thompson Rogers, Harrodsburg; one brother-in-law, Joe (Nell) Gill, Harrodsburg and a sister-in-law, Stella Holifield, Louisville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 26, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bro. Mike Crowe, and Rev. Leslie Rust officiating. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Park, Louisville.
Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m., Thursday, February 25, and Friday prior to the hour of service.

LUCIEN JONES
Lucien E. Jones, 58, of 507 Jones Street, died Wednesday, February 24, 1999 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born September 26, 1940 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Joseph VanArsdall and Maggie Ellen Taylor Jones.
He had worked at Hallmack for many years and was employed as a maintenance employee for Wal-Mart where he had worked for eleven years.
He was a US Army veteran and was a member of First Baptist Church.
He was an avid sports fan, an artist and a collector.
Survivors include: his wife, Ruth Elizabeth Sanders Jones, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Margueritta Carmela Jones and Jessica Erin Jones, both of Harrodsburg; three sisters, Nancy Ellen Jones, Cora Leitha Jones and Hazel B. Majors, all of Harrodsburg. He was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph VanArsdall Jones, Jr.
Funeral services were Saturday, February 27, at the First Baptist Church. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Williams, Andy Harris, William Bartleson, Van Curtis Majors, Kenny Worthington and Benny Payne.

PEARLIE CLAUNCH
Pearlie Devine Claunch, 92, of New Dixville Road, died Thursday, February 25, 1999 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born February 8, 1906 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Les and Ora Claunch Devine, and was the widow of Jimmie Lee Claunch.
She was a homemaker and member of the Benton Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Wallace (Aileen) Gilliland and Mrs. Robert (Juanita) Gilliland, both of Mercer County; one sister, Lula Hart, Mercer County; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Lee Claunch.
Funeral services were held at Saturday, February 27, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Doug Wesley officiating. Burial was in Patterson Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mickey Gilliland, Curtis Sims, Darrin Sims, Mike Hudson, Richard Hudson and Todd Barnes.

Virginia Elizabeth Royalty Robinson, 99, of Lexington, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Friday, February 26, 1999 at the Sayre Christian Village, Lexington.
Born December 26, 1899, she was the daughter of the late G. B. and Margie Reed Royalty, and was the widow of Goodloe Robinson.
She was a former Sportleigh Hall employee and a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and a member of the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include: one son, Haldon Robinson, FL; one daughter, Ruth Robinson, Lexington; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 1, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

ALFRED KIDD
Alfred Kidd, 70, of 1064 Dry Branch Rd., died Friday, February 26, 1999 at the St. Joseph Hospice Care Center in Lexington.
Born September 30, 1928 in McCreary County, he was the son of the late Oscar and Ollie Blevins Kidd.
He was a retired 20 year KU employee and was a former service station owner and operator.
He was a member of the Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, chair of the maintenance committee, and a 26 year teacher of the Ushers Sunday School class.
He was also a member of the Kentucky Baptist Builders, and a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include; his wife, Valeria Mae Horn Kidd, Mercer County, one son, Rex Alfred Kidd, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Angelia Lynn, Harrodsburg; one brother, Billy Kidd, Bardstown; three sisters, Nola Flynn and Lennie Short, both of Junction City, and Cleora Westerfield, Danville; three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Tuesday, March 2, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Arnold Moon, Rev. Don Reed, and Rev. Larry Redding officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Willie B. Horn, Donald Logue, Eddie Sherrow, Harold Logue, J. Hugh Phillips and Clinton Peavler. Honorary bearers were members of the Bruner's Chapel Ushers Sunday School class and the deacon board.

She was a homemaker and member of the Southland Methodist Church in Lexington.

William T. Rafferty, 79, died Sunday, February 28, at his home in Louisville.
He was a retired journalist and former editor of the Voice-Tribune newspaper in Louisville.
He was also former co-owner, with his wife, of the old Rapid Print Company in Louisville.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Jane Taylor Rafferty (a native of Harrodsburg), Louisville; one daughter, Lyn Sloan, Crestwood; one sister, Christine Mills, Hopkinsville; one grandson.

Christine Rosetta Smith Bradshaw, 74, of Harrodsburg Health Care, died Sunday, February 28, 1999, at her residence.
Born February 25, 1925 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late John Wiley Smith, Sr. and Laura Jones Smith.
She was a former house-keeper and provided custodial services for a number of Main Street businesses.
She attended West Side School and was a member of the St. Peter AME Church.
Survivors include: one brother, John W. Smith, Jr., Lawrenceburg; one sister, Mrs. Truman (Jennie) Bartleson, Sr., Harrodsburg; one aunt, Hallie Burrus, Harrodsburg.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 4, at St. Peter AME Church with Rev. Warren Dolphus officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Etha Mae Claunch, 91, of 409 Linden Avenue, died Monday, March 1, 1999 at the Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville.
Born August 22, 1907 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Margaret Patterson Claunch. She was the widow of Henry Thomas Claunch.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Pioneer Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Marvin Claunch, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Mrs. J. C. (Lillie) Catlett, Mercer County and Mrs. Charles (Hattie) McMurry, Harrodsburg; three half brothers, Marvin A. Claunch and J. B. Claunch, both of Mercer County, and Earl Claunch, Boyle County; six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Jakie Claunch, three brothers, one half brother and four sisters.
Funeral services were Wednesday, March 3, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Fitts and Rev. Larry Redding officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

ROBERT PERKINS Sr.
Robert C. Perkins, Sr., 64, of 1468 Bellows Mill Road, died Monday, March 1, 1999 at his residence.
Born May 29, 1934 he was the son of the late Harry and Sylvia Pulliam Perkins.
He was retired from the former A&P Food Store of Harrodsburg and the Kentucky Department of Corrections. He was a member of the Christian Church, and attended the Southland Christian Church in Lexington.
He was a veteran of the US Army.
Survivors include: his wife, Jo Ann Chandler Perkins, Harrodsburg; one son, Robert C. Perkins Jr., Harrodsburg; one daughter, Janet Perkins Poland, Georgetown, one brother, William H. Perkins Sr., Jeffersontown; one grandson.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 3, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with David Scalf, Andrew Alexander and Terry Morrison officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Zerita Zoe O'Neal, 91, of 7909 Carnation Drive, Louisville, died Monday, March 1, 1999 at her residence.
Born August 30, 1907, in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Henrietta Jenkins Cole.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: three sons, Charles O'Neal and Donald O'Neal, both of Louisville, Edward O'Neal, Henryville, IN; two step sons, James O'Neal and Richard O'Neal; one daughter, JoAnn Reeves, Polk City, FL; one stepdaughter, Mary Salvate; 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward O'Neal.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 4, at 1:00 p.m. at the Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, Louisville, with David Hastings and Mark Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Louisville Memorial Gardens.

Born July 9, 1916 in Augusta, she was the daughter of the late Robert Clyde and Nettie May Widdig McNamer. She was the widow of George A. "Jimmy" VanArsdall.
She was a clerk at McNamer's Bakery for many years.
She was a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Communion Steward for many years, and a member of the Yates-Spilman Sunday School Class.
She was a member of the Hospital and VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include: one brother, Jack (Betty) McNamer, Beverly Hills, MI; two sisters, Bee (Ralph) Gibson, Paris and Betty (James) Davidson, Lafayette, LA; one granddaughter, Lisa Reining and one grandson, Alexander B. VanArsdall; two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William Riker VanArsdall.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 5, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mark Girard officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Carl Proffitt, 70, died Monday, March 1, 1999 at the Sayre Christian Village Nursing Home in Lexington.
Born July 10, 1928, he was the son of the late Strawther and Rosa Hensley Profitt. He was the widower of Mantie Lee Profitt.
He was a retired Church of God minister.
Survivors include: three sons, Carl ( Glenda) Proffit, Jr., Sachse, TX, Ronnie Lee (Judy) Profitt, Harrodsburg, and Timothy Mark (Susie) Profitt, Paris; one daughter, Marieda (John) Allen, Winchester; one brother, Earl Profitt, Cowan; three sisters, Lou Emma Williams, Cincinnati, OH, Loretta Fields, Oklahoma City, OK and Anetta Thomas, Cussetta, GA; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 4, at the Letcher Funeral Home in Whitesburg, with James Moses and L. E. Durham officiating. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery, in Ermine.
