AUBREY MORRIS
Aubrey Phillips Morris, 72, of 5606 Louisville road, Salvisa, died Monday, May 17, 1999 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born August 5, 1926 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Clarence Overstreet and Emma Thomas Morris.
He was retired, after 36 years, as a Mercer County rural mail carrier, an army veteran of World War II, a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church and the Faith, Hope and Love Sunday School class.
He had served as deacon at the Salvisa Baptist Church from 1964 until 1997.
He was Chairman of the Board of the North Mercer Water District and one of the original commissioners when it was established in 1959.
He also served on the Fox Creek Rural Electric Board from 1973 until 1994 as vice chairman (86-91) and chairman (91-94). He served on the Kentucky Association of Electric Cooperatives and the Federated Rural Electric Insurance Boards. He also served as director of the Kentucky Rural Water Association and was president from 1990-1992.
Survivors include: his wife, Paulette Haggard Morris; Harrodsburg; one son, J. Dale (Carolyn) Morris, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Suzanne M. Lamar, Harrodsburg; one step son, Richard D. Boggs, Lawrenceburg; six brothers, Lawrence, Ralph and Garnett Morris, all of Harrodsburg, J. R. Morris, Florence, Carroll Morris, New Carlisle, OH and Wayne Morris, Germany; two sisters, Irene Crum, Louisville and Shelby Morris, Crestview Hills and former mother-in-law, Elva Catlett, Lawrenceburg; four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a wife, Doris Catlett Morris, a son, David C. Morris, a brother, Bennett Morris, a sister, Joyce Niederlehner, and a son-in-law, Don Lamar.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 1999 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Hensley and Rev. Larry Koch officiating. Burial will be in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery with military rites.
Memorials are suggested to the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
Visitation after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:30 a.m. Thursday until the hour of service.

MAE EMMITZBERGER
Mae Elizabeth Emmitzberger, 89, of 1117 Hess Lane, Louisville, died Wednesday, May 19, 1999, at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville.
Born December 18, 1909 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Sydney and Emma N. Harris Coleman. She was the widow of Arthur Emmitzberger.
She was a former resident of Cincinnati, OH and Harrodsburg, and was a former employee of Charlestown, IN Powder Plant.
Survivors include: one sister, Ada Belle Burks, Louisville, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 22, at the Embry-Boss Funeral Home in Louisville, with Rev. Kevin Putty officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park, Louisville.

JIMMIE BOTTOMS
Jimmie Bottoms, 69, Perryville, died Wednesday, May 19, 1999 at Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born July 18, 1929 in Kentucky he was the son of Willie Chloe Pope Bottoms of Campbellsville and the late Richard Bottoms.
He was an assembly lineman at American Greeting Card Corp.
Survivors include: his wife, Maxine Gray Bottoms, Perryville; one son, Richie Bottoms, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Dale Lanham, Perryville and Carol Bottoms, Danville; one sister, Betty Nally, Campbellsville; one brother, Gene Bottoms, Perryville.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 21, at Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville with Rev. Scott Carpenter and Rev. Earl Burnside officiating. Burial was in Beech Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Bottom, William Graves, Aaron Gray, Johnny Carpenter, Charles Holderman, Darrell Young, Dwight Conley and Kenneth Jones. Honorary bearers will be Bobby Burchett, Pat Overstreet, Hassell Reynolds and Bill Cocanougher.

THOMAS COLLARD
Thomas Delmar Collard, 82, of 610 Eastern Parkway, Louisville, died Thursday, May 20, 1999 at the Parkway Medical Center in Louisville.
Born February 11, 1917 in Louisville, he was the son of the late William Franklin and Annie May Whitfield Collard.
He was retired as a warehouseman at Seagram's Distillery, was a lifetime resident of Louisville and was a Catholic.
Survivors include: his wife, Evelyn Madeline Devine Collard, Louisville; one son, Thomas Dale Collard, Louisville; one daughter, Darlene Jackson, Louisville; one sister, Eula Mae Worman, Louisville; one grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 22, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home, with Rev. Rick Snyder officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

MARVIN PHILLIPS
Marvin Ray Phillips, 51, of 315 Robinson Road, London, formerly of Lawrenceburg, died Wednesday, May 19, 1999 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
He was an Anderson county native, the son of Stanley and Frances West Phillips, of Lawrenceburg.
He was a construction worker and truck driver, and a member of Sand Spring Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include: his wife, Jean McGee Phillips, London; three sisters, Mrs. James Allen (Mary) Hawkins, Mrs. Clinton (Mattie Catherine) Kennedy, all of Lawrenceburg, Mrs. Garry (Ruth Ann) Carpenter, Lancaster; two brothers, Stanley (Sue) Phillips, Jr., Hayes, VA, and John Robert (Martha) Phillips, Lawrenceburg.

SARA TRIBBLE
Sara Allison Tribble, 76, of 690 Old Louisville Road, Salvisa, died Thursday, May 20, 1999 in Boyle County.
Born April 10, 1923 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Bush Lewis and Louella Gritton Tribble.
She had worked 20 years in the Cincinnati General Hospital, Dept. of Radiology, and 25 years as the Education Director of Radiology at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
She was a member of the Salvisa Methodist Church.
Survivors include: one brother, Bush Tribble, Salvisa; one sister-in-law, Betty Tribble, Salvisa; a niece, Lou Anne Readnower, three nephews, Tony, Tommy and Jeff Tribble; nine great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 23, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Rev. John Hockersmith III officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tony, Tommy and Jeff Tribble, Lynn Readnower, Addam Tribble, Eddie Tewmey. Honorary bearers were St. Joseph Hospital co-workers and radiology department students.

Elizabeth Anne Brock, 70, of 4246 Hegner Ave., Cincinnati, OH, died Thursday, May 20, 1999, at Bethesda North Hospital in Hamilton County, OH.
Born April 15, 1929 in Cincinnati, OH, she was the daughter of the late Wheeler B. and Nettie Jane Sallee Yocum.
She had worked as a nurse for Drake Hospital in Cincinnati and was a member of Newtown Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her husband, Houston Brock, Cincinnati; one son, Herbert Parker, Clearwater, FL; five daughters, Annita Shepherd, Cincinnati, Tami Whalen, Beaver Creek, OH, Toni Humphrey, Nicholasville, Mona Graham, Benbrook, TX, and Melanie Warren, Georgetown; one brother, Edgar Yocum, Cincinnati, OH; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held at Monday, May 24, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Lavern Fitzgerald officiating. Burial was in Burgin Memorial Gardens.

Donald Carter, 77, of 9190 Fountain Bleu Blvd., Miami, FL, died Friday, May 21, 1999 at his residence.
Born August 15, 1921 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Van B. and Mattie Reed Carter.
He was a retired stock broker and a member of Inter Denomination Church.
He was an army veteran, having served from August 10, 1942 to August 26, 1943.
Survivors include: his wife, Pureza Carter, Miami, FL; a brother-in-law, Marvin Mathews, Cincinnati, OH. He was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Mathews.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 24, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Terry Morrison officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

PAUL MILLER
Paul N. Miller, 76, of Louisville, formerly of Mackville, died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, at the Suburban Hospital in Louisville.
A native of Washington County, he was born on August 26, 1922 to the late John Wesley and Narah Zella Murphy Miller.
He was a member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church and a retired employee of the former International Harvester Company in Louisville.
Survivors include: his wife, Anna Belle Shanahan Miller, Louisville; one daughter, Mrs. Richard Neal (Joyce) Sheldon, Washington County; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Phillips, Louisville and Mrs. William (Clara) Arnold, Fern Creek; two brothers, A. J. Miller, Gravel Switch, Boyd Miller, Rockford, IL; two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Burns, July 27, 1976, and a brother, Arthur Miller, March 20, 1954.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 21, at the Carey and Son Funeral Home with Rev. J. H. Burns officiating, assisted by Rev. Bobby Logue. Burial was in Peter Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brandon Taylor, Condit Arnold, Aaron Arnold, Sam Stumph, Walton Phillips and Harold Phillips.

Anne Dedman Hunt, 48, of Prospect, died Friday, May 21, 1999, at her residence.
Born March 14, 1951, she was the daughter of Thomas Curry Dedman, Jr., and the late Mary Elizabeth Dedman.
She was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School and Centre College.
She was a member of the Younger Woman s Club of Louisville, Reach to Recovery, Habitat for Humanity, and a former board member of the Lakeside Swim Team.
She was a member of Springdale Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: her husband, W. Scott Hunt, Prospect; a son;, W. Scott Hunt Jr.; a daughter, Anne Shelton Hunt; both of Prospect; her father, Thomas Curry Dedman, Jr., Harrodsburg; one sister, Libby Dedman Young, Louisville; three brothers, Chuck and Dr. Nick Dedman, both of Harrodsburg, and Dr. Tom Dedman, of Louisville.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 24, at Springdale Presbyterian Church, 7810 Old Brownsboro Road, Louiville. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.

JAMES BROWN
James Herbert Brown, 76, of 871 Old Louisville Road, Salvisa, died Saturday, May 29, 1999 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born October 12, 1922 in Salvisa, he was the son of the late James Herbert and Margaret Thompson Brown. He was the widower of Hazel Gammon Brown, to whom he had been married 52 years.
He was retired from construction and farming.
He was a member of Salvisa Christian Church, St. John's Masonic Lodge #125 (Past Master), and was a World War II army veteran.
Survivors include: four sons, David and Douglas Brown, both of Salvisa, James H. Brown, Jr., Bowling Green, and Robert Brown, Lexington; six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday May 31, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Jason Moats officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were J. R. Cox, Jullian Thomas, Joe Goodlett, George O. Moore, Howard Fallis, Jr., and Larry Stopher. Honorary bearers were the men of the Salvisa Christian Church.

TERRENCE FOLEY
Terrence J. Foley, 43, of 735 Perryville Rd., died Thursday, May 27, 1999, at his residence.
Born February 24, 1956 in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of Kathleen Ryan Foley of Indianapolis, and the late James J. Foley.
He had worked as a security guard.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: three brothers, Tim, Dennis and Kevin Foley, all of Indianapolis; three sisters, Irene Emmick Greenfield, IN, Maureen Foley, Indianapolis, and Patricia Foley, Crown Point, IN.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 29, at the Berea Christian Church in Harrodsburg, with Rev. Garry Allen officiating. Burial was in the Berea Christian Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mathew Emmick, Joseph Emmick, Randall Emmick, Ryan Foley, Bruce Nesser, Michael Gammons, Ricky Catlett and Dale Satterly. Honorary bearers were Kevin Foley and the men of Berea Christian Church.

James Osborne Mattingly, 55, a maintenance manager in the hotel-motel industry, died Tuesday, May 25, 1999, in Ocala, FL.
A native of Harrodsburg, he moved to Florida 25 years ago. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include: his mother, Bernell Gammon, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Kimberly Ann Mattingly, Newport, and Jennifer Ann Batten, Silver Springs, FL; two sons, Timothy Miles Mattingly and James Irvin Mattingly, Newport; one sister, Charlene Mattingly Hurt, Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren.

LOUISE SEXTON
Louise Sexton, 63, of 710 Gwinn Island Road, Danville, died Monday, May 31, 1999 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born December 29, 1935 in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Maud Conn Brown.
She had been a nurse at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, a 1957 graduate of the Norton's School of Nursing and a member of the Lancaster Presbyterian Church.
She was a former teacher at the Kentucky State Hospital, taught health career classes at Danville and Boyle county Vocational School and Kentucky Tech Marion County Area Center in Lebanon and had taught an operating room technician class.
She was a member of the Kentucky Nurses Association.
Survivors include: her husband, Donald Sexton, Danville; one son, Colby J. Benedict, Las Vegas, NV; one stepson, Donald Sexton, Jr., Burgin; two brothers, Douglas Brown, Harrodsburg and George Brown of Lexington; four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two half brothers, Robert and Eugene Brown, one sister, Minnie Burnside and one grandchild, Sarah Elizabeth Benedict.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 3, at 2:00 p.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Barry Jeffries officiating. Burial will be in Burgin Memorial Gardens.

Born November 11, 1948 in Lexington, she was the daughter of Mrs. Opal Brummett Clark of Harrodsburg and the late Alanzo (Puddin) Beasley.
She was an employee of Mayo Grocery and a member of the Grapevine Christian Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher.
Survivors, besides her mother, include: her husband, Garry Gilbert; one son, Billy Gilbert; two daughters, Karen Stratton and Brenda Hooper, all of Mercer County; stepfather Carl Clark, Harrodsburg; three brothers, William Butch Beasley and Steven Mark Beasley, both of Lawrenceburg, Tony Keith Beasley, Jessamine County; two sisters, Kathy Hatfield, Mercer County and Sandy Stratton, Anderson County; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Flossie Royalty, Harrodsburg; three grandchildren.

James Lee Shewmaker, 90, of 145 Parkview, died Tuesday, June 1, 1999 at his residence.
Born July 7, 1908 in Mackville, he was the son of the late Berry Mayes and Mattie Lee Horn Shewmaker. He was the widower of Alma Latta Shewmaker.
He was a retired farmer, attended Transylvania University and was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, where he was a Pi Kappa Alpha.
He had been a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church since 1917.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Jefferson Dawson (Jane Latta) Brother, Mt. Sterling; one son, Dr. Lee Shewmaker, LeBelle, FL; seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Shewmaker.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at Spring Hill Cemetery, with Dr. David Hartman officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie Campbell, William Dedman, Douglas Greenburg, David Shewmaker, Stephen Shewmaker and Jay Shewmaker.

Hattie Barnett, formerly of Harrodsburg, died May 16, 1999 in Dade City, FL.
Born in Shelby County, she was the daughter of the late William and Ella Fullenwider Hanna.
Survivors include her daughter, Frances Barnett Mander and husband Al Mander, Jr.; grandson, A. R. "Chip" Mander III and three great granddaughters, all of Dade City, FL. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Frances Hanna Mander.
Cremation and a memorial service was held in Florida with interment planned in Harrodsburg at a later date.

EDITH GILBERT
Edith Vandiver Gilbert, 86, of Melbourne, FL, died Monday, May 31, 1999 in Florida.
Born May 20, 1913 in Bonnieville, she was a daughter of the late John S. and Charlotte Temple Tharpe Vandiver.
She was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Melbourne, and had been a registered nurse.
Survivors include: a son, James M. (Jane Royalty) Gilbert III, Mansfield, MA; one brother-in-law, Michael Shea; one sister-in-law, Mrs. James M. (Sarah) Pusifull; three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James M. Gilbert, Jr, on April 2, 1999, a sister, Katherine Nold and a brother, James Vandiver.
Graveside services were held Saturday, June 5, at the Pineville Memorial Cemetery, Pineville, KY, with Rev. James Woodring officiating.
Honorary bearers were Michael Shea, nephews, James H. (Chip) Nold, Dan Deronda Stewart, James M. Pusifull, Jr., Steve Cawood and Tom Cawood, Dee Stewart, Biff Brooking, Bill Rieke, Louis Rieke and Matthew Stearman.

BERNARD ALFORD
Bernard S. Alford, 93, of Arlington, VA, died Sunday May 30, 1999 at the Hospice of Northern Virginia in Arlington.
Born February 6, 1906 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Alford.
He served in World War II and was later employed by the U. S. Navy, retiring as assistant comptroller of the Bureau of Ships in 1964.
He attended schools in Harrodsburg, Eastern Kentucky University and George Washington University in Washington. He was a member of Grapevine Christian Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Marjorie Gildea Alford, Arlington, VA; one niece, Mrs. Marvin Terhune, Harrodsburg and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rena Clark Alford who died in 1964.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 1, at the Ives Funeral Home in Arlington.

Millard "Nate" Hurst, 77, of St. Petersburg, formerly of Tampa, FL, died May 30, 1999 at the Hospice House Woodside.
