JAMES McGEE
Mr. James Andrew "Bud" McGee, Jr., 84, of Lexington, died Wednesday December 28, 1994 at the VA Medical Center, Cooper Drive, Lexington. A native of Danville, he was the son of the late James A. and Willie McGee. A graduate of Danville High School, he attended Centre College and Southern Methodist University. He was an army veteran of WW II, a professional musician, a Kentucky Village cottage parent and an inventory clerk for the Kentucky Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Danville Christian Church, Mercer Lodge #777, F. & A. M. Knights Templar Lodge, Danville, Oleika Shrine Temple, Legion of Honor and a life member of the Lexington and Louisville Federation of Musicians. He was a Kentucky Colonel, Ambassador of Parks and an Honorary Admiral of the Water Ways. Survivors include a son, James A. McGee, Lexington; a daughter, Elizabeth McGee Allison, Louisville; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth McGee Goode and a son, Joseph McGee. Funeral and Masonic services were at 10 a.m. Friday, December 30 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Lexington, with the Rev. Bill Ransdall officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park with military honors. Pallbearers were Jack Riddell, Steve Sk illman, David Grayson, Christopher Allan McGee, Richard Bolton Allison and James A. McGee, IV. LUCRETIA SMITH
Mrs. Lucretia Lococo Smith, 73, 216 W. Second Street, Frankfort, died Monday December 26, 1994 at Bradford Square Nursing Home. A native of Danville, she was the daughter of the late Nick and Addie Hurst Lococo. She was a retired LPN and a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. Survivors include: a son, Gary F. Smith, Frankfort; a sister, Mrs. John Robert (Elizabeth) Stagg, Harrodsburg; two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Libby Jane Smith. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith were held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 29, at the Church of the Good Shepherd with Father Michael Ramler officiating. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery, Danville. KELLI TOMAS CLAUNCH
Miss Kelli Tomas Claunch, age 17, 1140 Lexington Road died Wednesday, December 28, 1994 as a result of an automobile accident on Highway 390. Born April 2, 1977 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of T. C. and Patsy Lee Cummins Claunch. She was a senior at Burgin High School where she was a member of the Beta Club and the Burgin Lady Bulldogs Basketball Team. She attended Grace Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to her parents include: one brother; Todd O'Neal Claunch, Harrodsburg; three sisters; Mrs. Chris (Carmen Yvonne) Souder, Russellville, Marta Dee Claunch and April Shannon Claunch, both of Harrodsburg. Funeral services for Miss Claunch were held Friday, December 30, 1994 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. David Collier officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Todd Claunch, Chris Souder, Dantley Long, Travis Long, Dion Long, Michael and Jeff Anderson. ETHEL LEE COTTRELL
Mrs. Ethel Lee Baker Cottrell, 95, formerly of Lawrenceburg, died Thursday, December 29, 1994 at Homestead Nursing Home in Lexington. Born October 11, 1899 in Anderson county, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Fannie Robinson Baker. She was the widow of Clarence Cottrell. She was a housewife and a member of the Harrodsburg Church of God. Survivors include: a son, William H. Cottrell, Lawrenceburg; two daughters, Mrs. Price (Frances) Bowman, Lawrenceburg, and Mrs. Eugene (Martha) Robinson, Salvisa; one sister, Mrs. Princess Bickers, Frankfort; 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 29 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Chilton, and three grandchildren, a great grandchild and one great great grandchild. Funeral services for Mrs. Cottrell were held Sunday, January 1, at Gash Memorial Chapel in Lawrenceburg, with the Rev. James C. Siers officiating. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery. MARY PRESTON
Mrs. Mary Ellen Preston, 65, of 830 Warwick Road, died Friday, December 30, 1994 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born September 25, 1929, in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Sallie Patterson Davenport. She was the widow of Ben Wesley Preston. She was a cook and restaurant manager and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church. Survivors include: three sons, Dennis Preston, Danville, Roy Thomas Preston and Richard Lee Preston, both of Harrodsburg; one sister, Lucille Hurst, Harrodsburg; two brothers, Roy Davenport, New Albany, IN and Robert Davenport, Harrodsburg; four grandchildren. Services for Mrs. Preston were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Huggins and Rev. Bill Vaught officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery. Mr. Danny Carroll Ransdell, age 40, of 700 Kirkwood Road, Salvisa, died Tuesday, December 27, 1994 at his residence. Born October 20, 1954 in Cincinnati, he was the son of James Garnett and Trudy Garriott Ransdell. He was a farmer and a member of Kirkwood Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Terri Cloyd Ransdell. Services for Mr. Ransdell were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 31 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Hockersmith officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Doug and Brent Hazelwood, James and Jerry Goodlett, William Leonard Currens, Dale Morris and Jack Hankla. Marion "Bud" Lane, 56, of 113 Marrs Avenue, Lawrenceburg, died Saturday December 31, 1994 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington. He was the son of the late William Arthur Lane and Beulah Mary Green Lane and a native of Mercer County. He was a former maintenance employee for Florida Tile in Lawrenceburg and a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include: four daughters, Beth Currens, London, Cindy Robinson and Nancy Basham, both of Lawrenceburg, and Amy Lane, Lexington; three sisters, Lavon Crutchfield, Burgin, Betty Joyce Slusher, Lawrenceburg, and Brenda Sue Jones of Henry County; a brother, William A. Lane, Jr., Wilmore; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 2, 1995 at the Ritchie-Peach-Todd Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, with the Rev. John David Lane and Rev. DONALD FULLER
Mr. Donald Fuller, 64, of 995 Fairview Road, Salvisa, died Wednesday, January 4, 1995 at his residence. Born December 25, 1930 in Bourbon County, he was the son of Mary Florence Fuller of Stamping Ground and the late Alvin Fuller. He was a farmer, a member of the Grapevine Christian Church and had served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: his wife, Marcella Frederick Fuller; one son Larry Dean Fuller, Burgin; three daughters, Virginia Darlene Fuller, Salvisa, Arlene Faye Bruner, Harrodsburg, and Jullienne Reidnour, Mackville; one brother, Paul Davis Fuller, Cynthiana; seven grandchildren. One son, Wesley Fuller, one brother and three sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Friday, January 6, at 2:00 p.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. VIVIAN BLAKE
Vivian Brooke Blake, 32, died Tuesday, December 27, 1994 at her residence in Galveston, TX. She was born November 20, 1962 in Lexington, the daughter of John L. and Dale S. Sutherland, of Houston, formerly of Harrodsburg. Survivors, in addition to her parents, include: a son Jon Carlos Vega, Galveston, TX; a sister, Suzanne G. Sutherland, Houston, TX; and maternal grandparents, Joe and Myrtle Hisle of Lexington. Services will be scheduled at a later date, concluding with the spreading of her ashes over the ocean as she requested. Carnes Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. PAMELA COYLE
Mrs. Pamela Alderdice Coyle, 23, of 226 Landings Drive, Frankfort, died Friday, January 6, 1995, in Lexington, as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident. Born April 13, 1971 in Sterling, IL, she was the daughter of Glen E. and Phillis C. Alderdice, of Louisville. She was a 1994 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, with a degree in Police Administration and Law Enforcement. She was a member of the Mortar Board, Golden Key National Honor Society and the South East Christian Church in Louisville. Survivors, in addition to her parents, include: her husband, Shane Clarke Coyle, Harrodsburg; one brother, Russell W. Alderdice, Nashville, IN; and one sister, Patrician Senseman, Cincinnati, OH. Funeral services for Mrs. Coyle were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 9th, at the Harrod Brothers Funeral Home in Frankfort, with the Rev. Tom Ellsworth officiating. Pallbearers were Russell Alderdice, Joe Hagee, Jon Hagee, Joe Alderdice, Mark Senseman and Shannon Jackson. The Rev. Virgil Messer conducted committal services at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Mt. Olive.

JAMES PITTMAN
James H. Pittman, 91, of 118 N. College Street, Harrodsburg, died Friday, January 6, 1995, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lexington. Born March 17, 1903, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Matt and Alice Pittman. He was a retired employee of First Federal, a member of St. Peter AME Church, and was on the board of Stewards and had served as treasurer. He was a member of Masonic Silver Cord Lodge #23. Survivors include: his wife, Anna Laura Pittman and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by two sons, James Taylor Pittman, Jr., and William Garnett Pittman. Funeral services for Mr. Pittman were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 9, at St. Peter AME Church with the Rev. J. T. Ballew officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark Wofford, Eric Wofford, Tony VanDyke, William Griffin, Randall Claunch and Charlie Griffin. JAMES BRYANT, Sr.
Mr. James William Bryant, Sr., age 77, of 730 Stoner Street, Harrodsburg, died Saturday January 7, 1995 at 2:00 p.m. at the VA Medical Center, Cooper Drive, Lexington, after an extended illness. Born August 22, 1917 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late George Herman Bryant and Lina Elizabeth Coffey Bryant and widower of Ozella Renfro Bryant. He was a retired construction worker, a World War II army veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include: one son, James William Bryant, Jr., Harrodsburg; two brothers, Eligha Bryant, Akron, OH, John Bryant, Louisville; four sisters, Bessie Fisher and Marie Hunn, Harrodsburg, Georgia Cheanault, Pontiac, MI and Katie Augustus, Sandusky, OH; two grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Bryant were conducted Wednesday, January 11, at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. R. J. Gentry officiating. Burial with military rites was in Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Bottoms, Alonza Bottoms, John Bryant, David Bryant, George Fisher and James M. Walker. WILLIAM MASTERS
Mr. William Dewey Masters, 96, of Springfield, died at 7:35 p.m., Friday January 6, 1995 at Medco Center. A native of Washington County, he was born November 23, 1898, to the late Squire J. and Ida Freeman Masters. He was a member of the Baptist church and a World War I navy veteran. Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Ruby Elliott Masters; two sons, William J. Masters, Elmhurst, IL and Lewis E. Masters, Anderson, IN; one step daughter, Mrs. Hazel Brooks, Seattle, WA; two sisters, Mrs. Faye Carey, Mackville and Mrs. Stella Goodknow, Harrodsburg; eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lila Marks Masters, and a second wife, Mrs. Gladys Masters. Funeral services for Mr. Masters were held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 9, at the Carey and Son Funeral Home with Bro. Harry Coultas, Mackville Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in the Masters family cemetery near Cardwell. Pallbearers were A. B. McRay, G. T. McRay, Doug Elliott, James Holiday, Steven Hale and Karl Kuehr.

MARTHA LYONS
Mrs. Martha Colvin Lyons, 88, of 459 Chestnut Street, died Monday, January 9, 1995 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital Extended Care Unit. Born December 30, 1906 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Hartford and Annie Kinder Colvin. She was the widow of J. B. Lyons. She was a homemaker, a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church, the June Stanley Circle and a former Sunday School Teacher of the Christian Worker's Sunday School class. Survivors include: three daughters, Mrs. Carolla Cocanougher, Lexington, Mrs. Betty Wampler, Burgin, and Mrs. Mary Zody, Harrodsburg; one brother, Harold Colvin, Winter Haven, FL; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 11 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. David Hartman officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons,; Gene Cocanougher, Mike Zody, Mark Zody, Eric Wampler, Michael Jacoby, Mark Waiz, Doug Vandiver and Doug Curry. JAMES BARNETT
Mr. James W. Barnett, 66, of Tucson, AZ, died January 8, 1995 in Tucson. Born September 20, 1928 in Washington County, he was the son of James W. Barnett and Addie Moore Barnett. Survivors include: his wife, Karin Barnett, Tucson, two daughters, Vickie Jones and Sandy Barnett, both of Tucson; two sisters, Lena Satterly, Harrodsburg, and Faye Richard of Chaplin; and one granddaughter. There will be no local services. Burial will be in Louisville Memorial Gardens, Louisville.

MORGAN NOOE
Mr. Morgan Lillard Nooe, 86, of Lexington, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, January 10, 1995 at the Dallas-Ft. Worth Medical Center in Grand Prairie, TX. Born April 17, 1908 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Walter Ray and Susan Crews Nooe. He was a retired mechanic and had served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Survivors include: his wife, Martina Cannon Nooe; one daughter, Margaret Ann Nooe Aden; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. One son, William Morgan Nooe preceded him in death. Funeral services for Mr. Nooe will be Friday, January 13, at 11:00 a.m. at the Spring Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Girard officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service Friday at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.

CONDIT SPRINGATE
Mr. Condit Springate, age 71, of 416 Haddix Street, died Wednesday, January 11, 1995 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Loraine Springate. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.

MARGARET CLARK
Mrs. Margaret Ann (Annie) Clark, age 90, Harrodsburg Health Care, died Sunday, January 15, 1995 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born February 29, 1904 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Jacob R. (Jake) and Margaret (Maggie) Long Ward. She was the widow of Graydon Clark, Sr. She was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church where she was a long-time Sunday School worker and a WMU member. Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Neilsson, San Antonio, TX and Mrs. Nellie Jarvi, Plant City, FL; one brother, Cecil Ward, Denver, CO; one sister, Lillie Bauer, DeKalb, IL; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arlie and Everett Ward, one sister, Gladys Steinmetz, one son, Gradyon Clark, Jr., and one daughter, Patricia Jewell. Funeral services for Mrs. Clark were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home, with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Bulah Burton Hager, 85, of Versailles Road, Lexington, died Thursday, January 12, 1995 at the Christian Health Care Center. She was a daughter of the late Otis and Eliza Ward Burton. She was a member of the Gardenside Christian Church and the Rebekah Lodge. Survivors include: six daughters, Mrs. Osby (Juanita) Jones, and Mrs. A. R. (Mary) Pickett, both of Harrodsburg; Martha C. Hall, Bess H. Masters, Mrs.. Cecil (Doris) Goins and Mrs. Claude (Lida) Newby, all of Lexington; two sisters, Edith B. Sparks, Lexington and Mrs. William (Helen) Boyd, South Carolina; two brothers, Nolan Burton, Lexington and Rev. Paul C. Burton, Mt. Vernon. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Gunnery Sgt. Gregory F. Jones and a brother Hobert Burton; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mr. Orville Edward Henry, 54, 513 Cloverdale Dr., Danville, died Wed-nesday, January 11, 1995, at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. Born November 3, 1940 in Lincoln county, he was the son of the late Robert and Mary Yocum Henry. He was a route salesman for Butternut Bread Company for 28 years, a U. S. Army veteran, and a member of the Men's Bowling Association in Danville and Lincoln Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Alum Springs First Church of God. Survivors include: his wife, Linda Sue Nevius Henry; two daughters, Tabby Young and Sheila Henry, both of Danville; five brothers, Charles Quinn, Salinas, CA, Tommy Henry, Lancaster, and Floyd, Mike and Joe Henry, all of Mercer County; three sisters, Hadgie Lewis of Mercer County, Louise Hays of Owensboro and Judy Ballard of Lexington; four grandchildren. He was a retired self-employed grocer, member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, Douglas Laws Post #52 American Legion and a U. S. Army veteran. Survivors include: his wife, Loraine Black Springate, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Connie G. Chapman, Lexington, and Dianne L. Peavler, Harrodsburg,; one brother, Paul C. Mrs. Edna M. Claunch Carpenter, age 60, of 5606 Nally Court, Louisville, died Monday, January 16, 1995 at the University of Lousville hospital. Born April 12, 1934 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Elvin and Martha Logue Claunch. She was retired from South Central Bell and Rockford Manor Nursing Home in Louisville. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Greater Louisville and the wife of Warren Carpenter. Survivors, beside her husband, include: a son, Michael Warren Carpenter, Louisville; one sister, Imogene Caldwell, Campbellsville. She was preceded in death by two sons, Gary Keith Carpenter and Larry Warren Carpenter. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 18 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Tabb Hazelrigg, 46, of 403 Maple Avenue, Danville, died Saturday, January 14, 1995, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in South Carolina. Born April 27, 1948, in Danville, he was the son of Charles and Margie Hazelrigg, of Danville. He was the husband of Diane Hazelrigg. Additonal survivors include: two sons, Charles and Bobby, both of Danville; a daughter, Dee, of Danville; and a sister, Anne Hazelrigg, also of Danville. He received a bachelor's and master's degree from Emory University in Atlanta and had attended Pennsylvania State University's School of Mining in University Park, PA. He was president of the PNC Bank, Harrodsburg, a member of the Harrodsburg Rotary Club, the History Club of Danville and was on the board of the Mercer County Chamber of Commerce, the Anderson-Dean Community Park and the United Way of Mercer County. He was a deacon at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Danville. Services for Mr. Hazelrigg were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, at the First Christian Church by Dr. Norman Hagley. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery. Mrs. Mattie Irene Drury Sea, age 76, of 591 Lawrenceburg Road, Chaplin, died Tuesday, January 17, 1995 at Flaget Hospital in Bardstown. Born October 13, 1918 she was the daughter of the late Cleo Drury and Mae Dennis Drury. She was a homemaker and a member of Fairview Christian Church. Mrs. Hazel Hays Young, 75, of 103 Stewart Avenue, Perryville, died Tuesday, January 17, 1995 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born February 15, 1919 in Marion County, she was the daughter of the late Lewis B. Hays and Elsie Bandy Hays. She was an employee of K-Mart of Danville and a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. President Dies In South Carolina Car Crash
The president of PNC Bank in Harrodsburg died Saturday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in South Carolina. Charles Tabb Hazelrigg, 46, was driving west on I-26 in heavy rain, when he lost control of his car, crossed the median and hit an oncoming tractor trailer, said Cpl. Mark Gosnell of the South Carolina highway patrol. The wreck occurred near Newberry, SC. Hazelrigg was returning to his home after dropping his daughter, Dee Hazelrigg, at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where she is a student. Hazelrigg died about two hours after the accident during surgery at Newberry Memorial Hospital. Hazelrigg was very involved in both the Harrodsburg and Danville communities. He put together the financial package for the construction of the Anderson-Dean Community Park. "He was an a one kind of guy," said Alvis Johnson, co-director of the Anderson-Dean Community Park Committee. "He was a tireless worker. He gave completely of himself and his time to the community. "He will be dearly missed by those of us who loved him. He was a very special person." A member of the Mercer Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Hazelrigg was elected as the board treasurer and took office January 1. Chamber president Brad Guthrie said his death is "a great loss" to this community. "In working closely with Tabb, I found him always to be a professional in his work, both from his standpoint in his professional life as a banker and in his civic work. He was a man who put an incredible amount of effort in his work for the community. "Through his association with the chamber as a chamber director, officer and member of the executive board, his input at meetings was always of substance. He was the type of man who was always contributing. His efforts were endless. "If there were important issues to be handled, you could count on Tabb's professionalism and effort to help resolve anything that came up," said Guthrie. "He was a wonderful person to be around and to work with." Hazelrigg had served as a member of the United Way of Harrodsburg Board of Directors for a year, as a member of its Citizen's Review Board for two years and as the Citizen's Review Board chairman for one. "He was really eager to learn the United Way process and about the United Way agencies," said Penny Wittwer, Executive Director of the United Way. He was "very dedicated and very conscientious" to the United Way process. Hazelrigg also was a member of the Harrodsburg Rotary Club, the 1994 Leadership Mercer County class and its alumni, and the History Club of Danville. He was a deacon at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Danville. Hazelrigg began his Kentucky banking career in 1976 at Citizens Fidelity Bank in Louisville, where he was hired as assistant vice president in the energy division. He later served as manager of the bank's energy division. In 1992, he was named a senior vice president with responsibilities for the Mercer County market. (Citizens Fidelity was subsequently acquired by PNC.) He held bachelor and master's degrees from Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and had attended Pennsylvania State University's School of Mining in University Park, PA. His involvement in the coal industry included serving on the board of the Kentucky Coal Association and the Kentucky Association of Bonding Institutions. Born April 27, 1948 in Danville, he was the son of Charles and Margie Hazelrigg. He was the husband of Diane Hazelrigg and the father of Dee Hazelrigg, Charles Hazelrigg and Bobby Hazelrigg, all of Danville. He is also survived by a sister, Anne Hazelrigg of Danville. Mrs. Doxie Pyles, 86, widow of Herbert Pyles died January 2, 1995 in Portland, IN. She was born in Clark Range, TN and was the daughter of the late Lee Conway and Missouri Ann Norris Hodge. She was a former resident of Washington County and a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include: two daughters; Joan Rodman, Coos Bay, OR and Mary Kinder, Portland, IN; five sons, Dailey, William and Charles Pyles, all of Muncie, IN; Leroy Pyles, Harrodsburg, and Louie Pyles, Oceanside, CA; a sister, Mary Jones, Norwood, OH; two brothers, Noah Hodge and Robert Hodge, Spring City, TN; 24 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. HAROLD SMITH
Mr. Harold D. Smith, age 64, of Stanford, IL, died Sunday, January 15, 1995 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL. Born July 10, 1930, in Little Mackinaw Township, he was a son of Charles and Stella Miller Smith. He was married to Marjorie A. Norton, May 13, 1951, at Harrodsburg, who survives. He was a factory worker for Caterpillar Tractor Co., retiring in 1992. He attended Stanford Christian Church and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Additional survivors include: one daughter, Pamela Boitnott, Stanford; four sons, Gary, Steven, Kevin and Michael, all of Stanford; five brothers, Vernon, East Moline, IL, Edward and Jack, Stanford, IL, Wayne and Gene, both of Bloomington, IL; and five grandchildren. One sister and three brothers preceded him in death. He was the brother-in-law of Marvin A. and Shirley Norton Claunch, of Mercer County. Mrs. Nell Austin Stevens, 92, of 615 Greenbriar Drive, died Thursday, January 26, 1995 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born December 29, 1902 in Shelbyville, KY, she was the daughter of the late William Austin Cheak and Melissa Anne Abrams Cheak. She was the widow of Roger H. Stevens. She was a Personnel Department employee of Kentucky State Hospital and a former teacher. She was a graduate of Science Hill High School and Eastern Kentucky State Teacher's College. She was a former member of the Harrodsburg Garden Club and the General Department, Harrodsburg Woman's Club, and a member of the Burgin Methodist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Greenburg of Harrodsburg; two sons, James Allen Stevens of Danville and Joe A. Robert Howard (Bobby) McAfee, 61, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Thursday morning, January 26, 1995, at his residence after a long illness. Born April 30, 1933 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Robert Howard McAfee Sr. and Mary Kathrine Bryant McAfee. He was a retired school teacher and retired from McCall's Publishing Company. He was a graduate of West Side High School in Harrodsburg and Kentucky State University in Frankfort. He was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and a former member of St. Peter's AME Church in Harrodsburg. Survivors include: his wife, Vivian Cofield McAfee of Dayton, OH; one daughter; Karen McAfee of Frankfort, and two uncles, Robert Bryant of Harrodsburg and James Bryant, Danville. Born Sept. 13, 1907 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late William Clellan and Isabelle Fenimore Butler. She was a housewife and a member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church. Trai Sonprom, 75, of Nakhon Phanom, Thailand, who has relatives in Mercer County, died January 10, 1995 in Thailand. She was the widow of Pun Boon Sonprom. Mr. Vernon C. Anderson, age 63, of 140 Mulberry Street, Burgin, died Tuesday, January 31, 1995 in Harrodsburg. Born May 31, 1935 in Perryville, he was the son of Mrs. Rose Roney Anderson, Danville, and the late Willard Vernon Anderson. He had been employed as a psychiatric aide for the Veteran's Administration Hospital on Leestown Road, Lexington and had served in the U. S. Navy. Lynda Carolyn (Russell) Readnower, age 54, of 745 Moreland Avenue, Harrodsburg, died Saturday, February 4, 1995 on Old Highway US 127, Lawrenceburg, as a result of an automobile accident. Born June 21, 1940 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of Mrs. Margaret (Maggie) Tyler Russell and the late John C. Russell. She was a line operator for Universal Fasteners in Lawrenceburg, a member of the Pioneer Baptist Church and the Sassy Steppers from Boyle County. She was also a former employee of Cricketeer where she had worked for 29 years. Additional survivors include: one son, Lee W. Readnower, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Mrs. Lynn (Michelle) Russell, Burgin, one sister, Judy Hendren, Harrodsburg; three grandchildren, three nieces and one great niece. Two brothers, J. Mr. James Hubert "Jimmy" Carney, age 33, of 1015½ Danville Road, died Sunday, February 5, 1995 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. Born August 8, 1961 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Mr. James Carney of Willisburg and Mrs. Gee Gee Glasscock Perkins of Harrodsburg. He was an employee of R. R. Donnelly & Sons Company in Danville, a veteran of the U. S. Army and a member of Pioneer Baptist Church. Mr. Marshall Norton, 83, of LeRoy, Illinois, died at his home Thursday, February 2, 1995. He was a native of Mercer County and the son of the late A. H. and Zora Hendren Norton. He was a member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church and attended the Presbyterian Church in LeRoy. He is survived by his wife Polly Norton of LeRoy, IL; three sons, Col. Jimmy Norton, of St. Louis, MO, Wendell Norton, of Milwaukee, WI, and DeWayne Norton of LeRoy, IL; five grandchildren and two step grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Virgie Curd of Lexington, Mrs. Jessie Long and Mrs. Lula Taylor of Mercer County; one brother, Rev. Elwood Norton of Harrodsburg. Funeral services for Mr. Norton were conducted in LeRoy on Sunday, February 5.

JOHN KAYS, SR.
Mr. John W. Kays, Sr. age 95, of 912 Miller Avenue, Shelbyville, died Monday February 6, 1995 at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville. Born in Washington County September 2, 1899, he was the son of the late Squire Allie Kays and Nannie Lou Stratton Kays. He was a carpenter, a member of Shelbyville First Baptist Church, Howard Lodge #15 Odd Fellows. Survivors include: five daughters, Mary Elizabeth Cavnar, Denver, CO, Dorothy Hanna and Peggy Kays, Shelbyville, Norma Barnett, Harrodsburg, Barbara Coleman, Winchester; three sons, Allie Kays, Shelbyville, Dr. Herbert Kays, Louisville, Donnie Kays, Prospect; 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Other survivors include two brothers, O. T. Kays, Marvin Kays, and two sisters, Audie Belle Burton and Nellie Hearn, all of Frankfort. Funeral services for Mr. Kays will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m., February 11 at the Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with burial in Grove Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Friday, February 10.

KENNETH McCRYSTAL
Mr. Kenneth McCrystal, 63, of 297 Irish Ridge Road, Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, February 7, 1995 at Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville. Born May 14, 1931 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late John William McCrystal and Irene Carey McCrystal. He was the husband of Dorothy Jones McCrystal. He was a retired auto mechanic, a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and the VFW. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include: a son, Jeff McCrystal, Harrodsburg; one brother, Charles McCrystal, Harrodsburg; one sister, Mrs. Nick (Mary) Huff, Harrodsburg; two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John William McCrystal. A prayer service was held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Services for Mr. McCrystal will be held at 10:30 am. Thursday, February 9 at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Father Joe Muench will officiate with burial in St. Nicholas Cemetery. Mrs. Anna Rose Taylor, 98, died Monday, February 6, 1995 at the Christian Health Care Center in Lexington. A native of Mercer County, she was the widow of Ben Gillium Taylor. She formerly resided in Lawrenceburg and Shelbyville. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ben G.Taylor, Jr. and Val Taylor; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, February 9, at the W. R. Milward Funeral home in Southland, Lexington. Burial will be in the Eminence Cemetery. LYNDA READNOWER
Woman Killed In Anderson County Wreck
A two-vehicle accident Saturday morning in Anderson County resulted in the death of a Harrodsburg woman. Lynda Carylon Russell Readnower, 54, of 745 Mooreland Ave. died from head and extremity trauma following the accident at 7:05 a.m. one mile south of Lawrenceburg, according to a press release from the Anderson County Coroner's office. Readnower had just left Universal Fastners where she worked third shift and was traveling south on U.S. 127 in her 1985 Chevrolet station wagon when the wreck occured. Co-workers following Readnower said, she applied her brakes and lost control of her vehicle, impacting head-on on a Kentucky State Highway Department salt truck, according to the coroner's release. The salt truck was driven by Charles McKee of Lawrenceburg, According to the Kentucky State Police report, Readnower lost control of her vehicle on the icy roadway, crossed into the northbound lane and struck the salt truck. Readnower was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:30 a.m. by Anderson County Coroner Brian L. Ritchie. McKee was treated and released from the Bluegrass Regional Medical Center in Frankfort.

EVELYN WATTS
Mrs. Evelyn Mae Watts, age 70, 406 Eagle Street, died Wednesday, February 8, 1995 at her residence. Born May 10, 1924 in Mercer County she was the daughter of the late Albert and Addie Shackleford Jenkins. She was a homemaker and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. Survivors include: two sons, Bobby Watts and Charles Watts, both of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Mrs. Luther Billy (Bonnie) Watts, Harrodsburg; two sisters, Lois Jenkins and Ann Long, both of Harrodsburg; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin S. Watts and one son, Everett Lee Watts. Funeral services for Mrs. Watts were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 10 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Furr officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery. EDNA SPARKS
Mrs. Edna Davis Sparks, 56, of Old Brown Road, Salvisa, died Tuesday, February 7, 1995 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. Born September 26, 1938, she was a native of Jessamine County. She was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Lillie Jones Davis. She was the wife of Leamond Sparks. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include four children; Chiquita Craig, Tammy Browning, Leamond F. Sparks and Mary Hill; and eight grandchildren. Memorial services for Mrs. Sparks were held at Guyn, Kurtz, Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home in Nicholasville on Monday, February 13.

A. T. HENSLEY
Mr. A. T. Hensley, 77, of 479 Lynn Dr., died Saturday, February 11, 1995 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born April 20, 1917 in Clay County, he was the son James M. and Louisa Wilson Hensley. He was a former Superintendent of the Mercer County Schools, a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, Glad Hand Sunday School Class, Mercer Masonic Lodge #777 F&AM, former Oleika Shriner, Harrodsburg, Lions Club, Past President of the Harrodsburg Optimist Club and of the Mercer County Retired Teachers Association. His career in education began in a one room school in Clay County, following his service in the U. S. Army Air Corps, WW II. However, when the enrollment in this one room school reached 75 students, he decided to seek a new teaching assignment. In 1950 he began his tenure in Mercer County, when he accepted a position at the Rose Hill School teaching a Veteran's Class. In Spring of '51 he transferred to McAfee as Ag. teacher and in 1955 moved to Mercer County High. He was appointed acting Superintendent in March of '56, holding this post until being named Superintendent of Mercer County Schools in 1958. Hensley decided to step down in 1972, when he served as assistant Superintendent until his retirement in 1981. Survivors include: his wife, Audrey Hensley, Harrodsburg, two daughters, Mrs. Faye Crawford, Manchester, Mrs. Phyllis H. Boatright, Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Lotus Bowling and Ollie Walker, both of Hamilton, OH, Mollie Patrick, Cincinnati, OH; two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Cecil and Ray Hensley and a sister, Julie Depew. Services for Mr. Hensley were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 14 at the Rominger Funeral Home in Manchester with the Rev. James Harley officiating. Burial was in the Manchester Memorial Gardens. Ransdell Funeral Chapel was in charge of local arrangements.

THELMA McCROSKY
Mrs. Thelma Raphael McCrosky, 93, of 851 S. College, died Friday, February 10, 1995 at Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born February 17, 1901 in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Delbert and Nora Bohon Reynolds. She was the widow of Fay Berkham McCrosky. She was a homemaker, a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, Joseph Chapel Methodist Women's Missionary Union and the Homemakers Club. Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. C. R. (Louise) Tussey, Indian Lakes Estates, FL; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, A. D. Reynolds. Mr. Hugh Adams Brown, 84, 2970 Louisville Road, died Friday, February 10, 1995 at Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born September 17, 1910 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Henry Clay and Jennie Adams Brown. He was self-employed in the Auto Service Station business, a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church and the T. M. Wise Masonic Lodge of Dugansville. Survivors include: his wife, Sara Allender Brown, Harrodsburg, several nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Brown and a sister, Frances Hammerslaw. Mr. Cleo Baker, 63, of 210 Lebanon Hill, Springfield, died at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 1995 at his residence. A native of Washington County, he was born on May 23, 1931 to the late Raymond and Darcus Ross Baker. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Church of Christ at Battle and was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Venton Baker in 1952. A retired merchant, having owned and operated the Baker Town and Country Grocery, a retired car salesman and farmer. CHARLIE CAMDEN
Mr. Charlie Calvin Camden, age 76, 6673 Texas Road, Mackville, died Saturday, February 11, 1995 at his residence. A native of Mercer County, he was born on March 21, 1918 to the late Andie and Sarah Jane Lawson Camden. He was a member of the Mackville Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He served on the Washington County Board of Education, was a retired farmer and claims adjuster for Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Company, and was associated with New Farmers Tobacco Warehouse for a number of years. He was a 1939 graduate of Rose Hill High School. Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Nina Bishop Camden, a niece and nephew and several great nieces and nephews. Mr. R. T. Blackburn, 64, Overbrook Farm, 5460 Tates Creek Road, Lexington, died February 10, 1995 after a long illness. He worked all his life with thoroughbred horses including 19 years in management on Shawnee Farm in Harrodsburg, and the last 10 years in management on Overbrook Farm in Lexington. He was born on Calumet Farm, the son of the late J. T. and Lillian True Thomas Blackburn. She was a retired employee of Cricketeer Manufacturing and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church. Mrs. Glenda L. Watts, age 76, 521 Belmont Street, died Friday, February 10, 1995 at her residence. Born May 11, 1918 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late James Ledman and Sarah Elizabeth Leonard Drury. She was a homemaker, the wife of Joe C. Watts of Harrodsburg and a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors besides her husband include two step daughters: Eloise Bell and Carolyn Vinyard, both of Mercer County; two sisters, Mary Claunch and Janie Pinkston, both of Harrodsburg; a sister-in-law, Mildred E. Lewis, who took care of her. She was preceded in death by one step daughter, Delilah Anderson, and two sisters, Ada Maddox and Mamie Drury. Mr. Fred Taylor, 95, died Thursday February 9, 1995, at Harrodsburg Health Care. Born September 25, 1899 in Mercer County he was the widower of Jeanetta Taylor. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for 50 years, a retired barber, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Silver Cord Lodge #23. Survivors include: one daughter, Minnie B. Devine: one son, Albert L. Taylor, both of Danville; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Masonic Rites were observed at Smith-Jackson Funeral Home, Sunday, February 11, at 7:00 p.m. Services for Mr. Taylor were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 12 at First Baptist Church, Harrodsburg, with the Rev. Born July 11, 1901 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late James Newton and Nannie Kays Gritton. She was the widow of Stanley Thomas Leonard. She was a retired homemaker and a member of the Harrodsburg Methodist Church. Mr. Raymond Franklin Phillips, 77, died Friday, February 17, 1995 at his residence in Lawrenceburg. Born April 30, 1917 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Homer and Nettie Monroe Phillips. He was a retired plumber and a member of the New Providence Presbyterian Church. Survivors include: his wife, Arlene Bell Gaines Cox Phillips; two sons, Hugh E. Phillips, Harrodsburg, and Raymond F. Mrs. Helen Clark, 72, of 810 Weller, Louisville, died Sunday, February 19, 1995 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born September 20, 1922 in Washington County she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah Carey Sims. She had been employed as a maid for various hotels and was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church in Louisville. She was the widow of Charlie Clark. LEON McCRYSTAL
Mr. Leon McCrystal, 77, died at Hemet Valley Medical Center, Hemet, CA, Thursday, February 16, 1995. Born in Harrodsburg on September 19, 1917, he had lived in Hemet for the last 13 years. He served in the U. S. Army during WW II and was a cabinet maker for Lockheed Aircraft for 30 years. Survivors include: his wife, Martha McCrystal, Hemet, CA; one daughter, Lexie Ogden, Woodstock, GA; two brothers, Joseph R. McCrystal, Harrodsburg and James H. Mrs. Joyce Griswold Wilson, 68, of Chimney Rock Road, died Friday, February 17, 1995 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. She was born in Peck, MI, the daughter of the late Ralph S. and Eva C. May Griswold. She was a retired switchboard operator for Lazarus and attended the Harrodsburg Christian Church. Mrs. Flora Doris Bradley, 66, of 486 Beaumont Avenue, died Saturday, February 18, 1995 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born February 8, 1929 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Lafon and Verna Million Cole. She was a retired Corning Glass employee, a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church and the wife of Loyd E. Bradley. Mrs. Lou Anna Wohner Peavler, age 54, of 1824 Harrodsburg, Road, Mackville, died Wednesday, February 15, 1995 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. A native of Washington County, she was born on May 31, 1940 to the late George and Snoda Lanham Wohner. She was a member of the Mackville Baptist Church. Survivors include: her husband, George R. "Rod" Peavler; one son, Rodney Keith Peavler of Mackville; one daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Lisa Frances) Norton of Mackville; one granddaughter; two sisters, Mrs. John C. NELLIE SHEWMAKER
Mrs. Nellie Coyle Shewmaker, 92, formerly of Mackville, died Thursday, February 16, 1995 at the Spring View Medical Center in Lebanon. A native of Washington County, she was born on October 15, 1902 to the late William J. and Fannie Sweeney Coyle. She was a former nurse at the Colgate-Palmolive Company in Louisville where she retired in 1967 and was a member of the Beargrass Christian Church of St. Matthews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ranel Shewmaker on March 20, 1954, two brothers, Roy Coyle of Mackville, Ray Coyle of Louisville, and a sister, Mrs. Will (Lena) Milton of Mackville. Survivors include two nieces, Mrs. Leroy (Inelle) Mobley of Owensboro and Mrs. Shelby Jean Kiff of Columbia, SC; two nephews, John Milton of Mackville and Jerome Coyle of Willisburg; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Thelma Coyle of Mackville, and three great nephews and four great nieces. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 19, at the Mackville Christian Church, with Bro. Ken Ward officiating. Burial was in the Peter Cemetery, Mackville. Levi Kinnard Brummett, infant son of James M. Brummett II and Kristi Lyn Steel Brummett of 513 Cane Run Street, died Thursday, February 23, 1995 at Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville. William Stanley "Boo" Stewart, 77, of 186 Kirkwood Road, Salvisa, died Friday, February 24, 1995 at his residence. Born July 17, 1917 in Woodford County, he was the son of the late Allie Jewel Stewart and Mary Willie Beatley Stewart. He was a retired maintenance worker at Joseph E. Seagram's distillery and a member of Salvisa Baptist Church. Mrs. Maude Duggins, 79, of 686 Cane Run died Sunday, February 26, 1995 at Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born April 12, 1915 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Merriman and Bertie Baker Merriman. She was a retired, self-employed beautician and a member of the Bohon Christian Church. She was a Sunday School teacher for a number of years. Survivors include: her husband, Alex Duggins; a daughter, Leona Kish, Satellite Beach, FL; a foster daughter, Lucy Grillo, Lexington; a brother, Billy Merriman, Burgin; a sister, Dorothy Jensen, MN; two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Mary Evelyn Miller McKee, 77, of 908 Plainview Drive, Shelbyville, died February 20, 1995, at Shelbyville. Born April 14, 1917 in Joplin, MO, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Elizabeth Buntain Miller. She was the widow of Dr. Willis P. McKee Sr., formerly of Harrodsburg. She was a homemaker, a member of the Shelbyville First Presbyterian Church, DAR and DAC. Survivors include: two sons, Willis P. McKee, Jr. and Miller M. McKee, both of Frankfort; two daughters, Marilyn (Hugh) Sturgill, Boone, NC, and Carolyn (John) Hackworth, United Arab Emirates; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Ronald Keith "Ronnie" Devine, age 58, of Mackville, died Tuesday, February 28, 1995 at the Humana Hospital in Lexington. Born in Mercer County February 6, 1937, he was the son of the late Charles D. and Viola Henry Devine. He was a member of Mackville Baptist Church, the Magnolia Masonic Lodge #210 F&AM, Mackville and was a retired employee of North Point Training Center in Danville. Survivors include: his wife, Marie Cooper Devine, one son, Gary Devine, Mackville; two daughters, Mrs. Darrell (Debra) Derringer and Mrs. Ray (Jackie) Garcia both of Springfield and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Devine. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 2 at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Readnour officiating, assisted by the Rev. Lee Lambert. Burial was in Peter Cemetery, Mackville. Mr. Gregory Monte Hale, 21, of 423 Cardwell St., died Friday, March 3, 1995 at the Woodford Memorial Hospital, Versailles, as a result of an automobile accident on the Bluegrass Parkway. Born August 31, 1973 in Fort Knox, he was the son of Robert L. and Virginia Brown Hale. He was the husband of Melissa Gullett Hale, a line operator for YA America, Inc. and had attended Cornishville Baptist Church. Born June 18,1908 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late James and Oma Watts Giles and the widow of Belve Tyler. She was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church and had worked in the kitchen of the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Survivors include: one daughter, Alice Dean Sparks, Harrodsburg; one step daughter, Corene Mason, Wilkes Barre, PA; one brother, Fred Giles, Frankfort; one sister, Mrs. Onus Darland, Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. A daughter, Oma Frances Tyler Kelly, one step son, Garland Tyler and one grandson, Edward Sparks preceded her in death.
