Eva Croxton Adams, 73, of New Castle, died Sunday September 12, 1999 at her residence.
She was a daughter of Beulah P. Croxton and the late Forest William Croxton.
She was a member of the Eminence Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her husband, Jessie Robert Adams, New Castle; two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Vickie) Ballard, Harrodsburg, Debbie McKinney, New Castle; two sons, Donald Ray Adams, LaGrange, Earl Wayne Adams, Campbellsburg; one sister, Mrs. Patsy Lucas, Eminence; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 15, at the Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Duncan officiating. Burial was in Eminence Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dwight Hardin, Dean Hardin, Gary Lucas, Steve Lucas, David Young, and John Jaegere. Honorary bearers were grandchildren and great grandchildren.

GREGORY COPP
Gregory Whitcomb Copp, 50, died Thursday, September 5, 1999, in the Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN.
Born in Peru, IN on July 31, 1949, he was the son of Miriam Ellers Copp and the late Harold Copp.
A 1967 graduate of Columbia City High School, he attended and was valedictorian at Northwood Institute, West Baden in 1969. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, and a Master s degree from Purdue University, West Lafayette in English.
He also was awarded a Juris Doctor degree from Valparaiso University in 1992. He was on the editorial staff of the law school newspaper.
He was a practicing attorney in Columbia City, IN and he was a member of the Whitley County and Indiana Bar Association. He had served as Public Defender.
Prior to that, he had worked as a journalist from 1973 to 1988. In 1974-1975, he spent 18 days in the former Soviet Union and wrote a week-long series of front page articles on the trip for the News-Sentinel. He was regional correspondent for Whitley County 1973-1977.
During 12 years writing for the Columbia City Post and Commercial-Mail, he was farm editor, wire news editor, general news reporter, editorial writer and sports editor. He received 10 United Press International Indiana Newspaper Awards, including first in editorial writing in 1985, 1986 and 1987.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir and taught the adult Sunday School class.
Survivors include: his mother, Miriam Copp, formerly of Harrodsburg, Columbia City,; two brothers, Rev. Jeffrey Copp, Richland, PA, Michael Copp, Columbia City; two sisters, Linda Weinbaum, Elizabeth City, NC, Elizabeth Beiersdorfer, Sunman, IN.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 12, Columbia City United Methodist Church, Columbia City, IN. Burial was in the South Park Annex Cemetery.

BENIE PREWITT
Benie C. Prewitt, 80, of Chestnut Street, Danville, died Thursday, September 9, 1999, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born September 10, 1918 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Rosie Lee Robinson Prewitt. She was the widow of Zelbert Thomas Prewitt.
She was a retired employee of Corning Glass in Danville, and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her niece, Mrs. Levi (Agnes) Lay of Harrodsburg, and her nephew, Bill Wickersham (Joyce) of New Salisbury, IN; two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 13, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville, by Dr. J. Timothy Mathis. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Luke Lovell, Mark Goggans, John Barber, Timothy Lawyer, Glenn Fugate and Robert Baker. Honorary bearers were Frank Prewitt, J. T. Goggans, Henry Lovell, Albert Prewitt Jr., Teague Sims, Jim Barber and Jeff Barber.

TERRY BOSWELL
Terry Boswell, of Villa Hills, died September 3, 1999 at her residence.
A native of Louisville, she was born January 18, 1953 to Jim and Eva Morrison of TN.
She was a musician and a Baptist.
Survivors include: her husband, Jeff Boswell, formerly of Harrodsburg; one son, Andrew Byrne and a brother Tim Morrison.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 6, at the Linneman Funeral Home in Erlanger. Burial was in the Mackville Cemetery.

Edward A. Turpin, 67, of 274 Catlett Lane, died Monday, September 13, 1999, at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born July 4, 1932 in Woodford County, he was the son of the late George Washington and Della Baxter Turpin.
He was a retired service manager for Coca-Cola after 32 years and was a member of the Perryville Church of God.
Survivors include: his wife, Gladys Preston Turpin, Mercer County; four sons, Buddy, Jimmy, Scotty and Deron Turpin, all of Mercer County; two daughters, Brenda Jones and Regina Turpin, both of Mercer County; three brothers, Lawton Turpin, Boyle County, Hubert Turpin, Harrodsburg, and Estell Turpin, Mercer County; five sisters, Hazel Rogers and Lucille West, both of Boyle County; Lula Lister, Shelbyville, Mabel Lechock, Harrodsburg and Mildred Reynolds, Boyle County; 17 grandchildren, six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 15, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Sam Irvin, Dr. Robert DeFoor and Rick Snyder officiating. Burial was in the Parksville Cemetery.

Born May 29, 1950 in Estill County, she was the daughter of Hattie Johnson of Harrodsburg and the late Shiloh Gamble.
She had been a nurses aide for 26 years and most recently was employed by Homestead Nursing Home in Lexington.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include: her husband, Paul Lee Smith, Harrodsburg; three daughters, Jennifer Smith and Melissa Ann Howard, both of Lexington, and Janice Sue Perry, Frankfort; two sons, Billy Ray Smith Jr., Nicholasville, Dennis Lee Smith, Georgetown; four sisters, Peggy Wilson, Lexington, Edith McCarty, Nicholasville, Linda Holman, Harrodsburg, and Wanda Bowles, Irvine; one brother, Marvin Gamble, Lexington; nine grandchildren and one great grandson. Jesse Lee Young, 78, of Halls Gap, died Thursday, September 16, 1999 at the Patti A. Clay Memorial Hospital in Richmond.
Born May 22, 1921 in Paint Lick, he was the son of the late Elmer and Lillie Hale Young.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Mt. Moriah Christian Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Gerkey Young, Halls Gap; one son, Dudley Keith Young, Stanford; two daughters, Joyce Holloway, Stanford and Shirley Peck, Halls Gap; three brothers, Elmer Young Jr., Waynesburg, Marvin W. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Gene Young; three sisters, Lola Bea Miracle, Ottie Mae Gerkey and Dorothy Ramey.

William Burnett "Pete" Houchin, 88, of 399 Runyon Rd., died Friday, September 17, 1999 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born June 2, 1911 in Mt. Eden, he was the son of the late John and Mona Temple Houchin. He was the widower of Ruby Lorena Hughes Houchin.
He was former owner of Sandusky Mill and Houchin Trucking Co. He was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church where he served as deacon and was a member of the Harrodsburg Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include: one son, Gary (Carol) Houchin, Harrodsburg; one granddaughter, Julie Peavler, Harrodsburg; one grandson, Brian Houchin, Nashville, TN; one great grandchild.
Graveside services and burial were held Sunday, September 19, at Spring Hill Cemetery with Dr. David Hartman officiating.

Richard Conover, 703 Perryville St., 75, died Sunday, September 19, 1999 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born June 19, 1924, he was the son of the late Dr. Peter Harlan and Lura Smith Conover and the widower of Joyce McFatridge Conover.
He was retired from Corning Glass Works and a veteran of the US Navy where he was a signalman, serving in the South Pacific during World War II.
Survivors include: three daughters, Mrs. Debra Conover Catlett, Harrodsburg, Mrs. Kimberly Conover Soroken, Nicholasville, Cynthia Conover, Danville; five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Conover.

He was a retired carpenter and member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, Lexington.

Margie Zerilda Matherly, 89, of 1100 Colonel Anderson Parkway, Louisville, died Wednesday, September 22, 1999 at the Pine Tree Villa Nursing Home in Louisville.
Born April 12, 1910 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late William Coleman and Martha Jane Watts Matherly.
She was a longtime member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include: two sisters, Mary K. Heath and Minnie Fay Whittaker, both of Louisville; one nephew, Charles William Matherly, Danville; four nieces, Mary Jane Windsor, Bellevue, OH, Lee Etta Wilkinson, Plymouth MI, Shirley and Glenna Whittaker, both of Louisville.

William Dennis Devine, 45, of 472 North Main Street, died at his residence, Sunday, September 26, 1999.
Born August 19, 1954 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Morgan Lee and Marie Releford Devine.
He was a former Cudahy employee, a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and a graduate of Harrodsburg High School. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include: two sisters, Beverly Bowers and Sandra Fultz, both of Palm Harbor, FL; three nieces, four nephews, one uncle and five aunts.

DONALD GRITTON
Donald Meredith Gritton, 53, of 593 Ada Drive, died September 25, 1999 at his residence.
Born June 26, 1946 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late H. G. And Bertha Hurst Gritton.
He was an electrician at Corning for 33 years and a graduate of Mercer County High School.
He attended Eastern Kentucky University and was past president of the Harrodsburg Jaycees and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include: one sister, Mrs. Donald (Eunice) Wiley, Mercer County; one niece, Jennifer Walls, Stanford; one nephew, Chris Wiley, Mercer County.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, September 28, at Spring Hill Cemetery with Bro. Bobby Logue officiating.

Born September 8, 1909 in Jessamine County, she was the daughter of the late George and Artie Jacobs Stone. She was the widow of Henry Edward Roberts.
She was retired from Cricketeer Manufacturing, a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and a former member of Mercer County Senior Citizens.
Survivors include: one son, Edward D. (Mary) "Peanut" Roberts, Mercer County; one daughter, Mrs. W. T. (Alice) Pankey, Mercer County; one sister, Mrs. Virginia Sexton, Cincinnati, OH; six grandchildren, two step grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one step great grandchild.
Services were conducted September 28, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Muench officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Pankey, Eddie Pankey, Wayne Carmickle, Chris Horn, Ben Sharp and David Roberts.

Dorothy Stine Cornish, 75, of Armory Hill, Springfield, died Thursday, September 23, 1999 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
Born March 3, 1924 in Washington County, she was the daughter of Estelle Stine of Lawrenceburg and the late James R. Stine.
She was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church a a retired cafeteria employee of the Washington County Board of Education.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include, her husband, Clifton Cornish; two sons, David Cornish, Amherst, OH and Jerry Cornish, Oberlin, OH; two daughters, Mrs. Don (Barbara) Carney, Burgin and Mrs. Larry (Betty Nell) Hamilton, Springfield; one sister, Harold A. (Annelle) Stockton, Lawrenceburg; three brothers, J. C. Stine, Lawrenceburg, Joseph Buford Stine, Harrodsburg, and Phillip Stine, Fern Creek; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Stine, and a grandson, Charles Patrick Hamilton.

John L. Allender, 83, of 118 N. East Street, died Friday, September 24, 1999 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born December 31, 1915 in Lexington, he was the son of the late John C. and Amanda Eldridge Allender.
He was a retired superintendent of Old Fort Harrod State Park.
He was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, Glad Hand Sunday School class, 50 year member of Mercer Masonic Lodge #777 F&AM, where he was a two time past master, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star #309 and a Shriner.
Survivors include: his wife, Lola Allender, Shelbyville; two brothers, Charles Allender, Burgin, and Robert Allender, Cincinnati, OH; one sister, Sarah Brown, McAfee.
A Masonic service was held Saturday, September 25, at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Born April 22, 1911 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of Shannon and Talitha Russell Terhune. She was the widow of Virgil Gentry Sanford.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church.
Survivors include: one sister, Elizabeth Bonta, Harrodsburg; one niece, Mrs. Sonny (Connie) Carroll, Harrodsburg; one great niece, Jesse (Linda) Pike, Harrodsburg. She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Parsons.

Burbon A. Freeman, 71, of 489 Rose Hill Lane, died Friday, October 1, 1999 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg.
Born November 26, 1927 in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Homer and Lillie Hendren Freeman.
He had worked as an upholsterer and was a member of Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Kathleen Gabhart Freeman, Harrodsburg; one son, David (Peggy) Freeman, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Burbona Riley, Springfield; one brother, Harold Hendren, Harrodsburg; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Garland Freeman.
Funeral services were Monday, October 4, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Everett Priddy officiating. Burial was in the Bruner's Chapel Cemetery.
