LEWIS HAFLEY
Lewis H. Hafley, 79, of 434 College Manor, died Monday, November 22, 1999 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born October 28, 1920 in Casey County, he was the son of the late Alla H. and Ethel Sinkhorn Hafley.
He was retired from the Accounting Department at Corning Glass and was a driver for Spirit Chevrolet-Buick.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, June Coyle Hafley, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Connie) Jackson, Mrs. Benton (Brenda) Lake, both of Harrodsburg; three brothers, Forrest Hafley, Perryville, Clifton Hafley, Gravel Switch, and Glenn Hafley, Sandy Hook; four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Hafley.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Perryville.
Pallbearers will be Harold Sutherland, Chester Gabhart, Curtis Devine, Hugh Satterly, Jakie Claunch, and Carl Clark.
Memorials are suggested to one's favorite charity.

KENNETH CARPENTER
Kenneth Ray Carpenter, 58, of 143 Providence Road, died Monday, November 22, 1999 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born October 1, 1941 in Cincinnati, OH, he was the son of Grace Johnson Carpenter of Lawrenceburg, and the late Pleas Carpenter.
He was a Methodist and a disabled US Navy veteran.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: his wife, Betty Jean Miller Carpenter, Harrodsburg; one step son, Kenneth Cox, McAfee; one step daughter, Joyce Cox, McAfee; one sister, Barbara Lee Limle, Lawrenceburg. Four step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Jones officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Hoffeld, Jerry Seyberth, Mike Seyberth, Robert Miller, Ronnie Abrams, David Abrams.

FAYRENE YEASTE
Fayrene Yeaste, 76, of 507 Graham Avenue, died Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at her residence.
Born December 4, 1922 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Vita Hurst Wade. She was the widow of Don Yeaste.
She was a retired Corning, Inc. employee, a member of the Shakertown Baptist Church, and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include: two daughters, Donnie Y. Smith, Harrodsburg, and Jeanie Y. Devine, Mercer County; one brother, Raymond Wade, Harrodsburg; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Saturday, November 27, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Joseph Vest and David Hartman officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bobby Burton, Brian Bradshaw, Jim Fitzgerald, David Wade, Dennis Wade and Kenny Wade.
Memorials are suggested to the Shriner's Children Hospital, Lexington.

BOBBI JO YATES
Bobbi Jo Yates, 44, of 551 Chesapeake Drive, died Wednesday November 24, 1999 at the Markey Cancer Center in Lexington.
Born September 8, 1955 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of Joe Robert (Bobby) and Cammie Gabhart Smith of Harrodsburg.
She worked as a primary school teacher for the Burgin Independent Schools and was a member of the Southside Christian Church.
She was president of the Mercer County Chapter of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association, past board member of the National UK Alumni Association, and had served as treasurer of the High School Booster Club and statistician for the high school girls basketball team.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include: one son, Michael Lee Yates; one daughter, Amanda Jo Yates; one sister, Mrs. Jeff (Susan) Noland; all of Harrodsburg.
Funeral services were held at Sunday, November 28, at the Southside Christian Church with Sam Stow and Rick Snyder officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Everett Cord, Tim Murphy, Bobby Springate, Tony Bugg, Bobby Riley and William Hayslett.
Memorials are suggested to memorial scholarships at Burgin or Harrodsburg Independent Schools or to the Southside Christian Church Building Fund.

DORIS BURGIN
Doris Burgin, 76, of 547 Cane Run Street, died Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born May 21, 1923 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Davis and Lena Bunton Ransdell.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church and WMU.
She served in the Navy Waves during World War II. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
She was a Kentucky Colonel and a charter and lifetime member of the Ebenezer Homemaker Club.
She was a member of the North Mercer Concerned Citizens, and of the Light and Lively Group at the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her husband, Preston Burgin, Harrodsburg; one son, James Davis Lawson, Frankfort; one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Joy) Stevens, Harrodsburg; two brothers, C. D. Ransdell Jr., and Earl Franklin Ransdell, both of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Eva Mae Hahn, Frankfort, and Mary Crossfield, Harrodsburg; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Ann Lawson; two brothers, A. L. "Sammy" and Herbert Ransdell; one grandson, Gabriel Schooler.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 26, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Robert DeFoor and David Hartman officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

CALVIN BRUNER
Calvin Bruner, 88, of 523 Graham Avenue, died Friday, November 26, 1999 at Liberty Care Center in Liberty.
Born in Mercer County, October 2, 1911, he was the son of the late Thomas Jackson and Margaret Nowland Bruner. He was the widower of Mary Harris Wilder Bruner.
He was a retired carpenter for the Engle Construction Company.
Survivors include: one daughter, Joyce (Robert R.) Phillips, Harrodsburg; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, November 29, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home by Rev. Larry Redding. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday and after 7:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

ANNE McCLELLAN
Anne Elizabeth Rives McClellan, 97, died Sunday, November 28, 1999 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital Extended Care Facility.
Born in Lexington, June 4, 1902, she was the daughter of the late Robert C. and Anne Shannon Rives. She was the widow of John W. McClellan.
She graduated from the Nazareth Academy in 1920 and attended the University of Kentucky. She was a secretary and bookkeeper for the J. W. McClellan General Contractors of Harrodsburg for 50 years.
She was a member and past president of the Harrodsburg Woman's Club, and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Altar Society and Parish Council.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Anne Shannon Williams, Harrodsburg; two sons, Dr. John W. McClellan Jr., Henderson, and Joseph R. McClellan, Harrodsburg; one brother, Tony Rives, Louisville; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Bettye Willis McClellan, one sister and three brothers.
Funeral Mass was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Joseph Muench and Father Julian Pank officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to St. Andrew Catholic Church building fund for the Eucharistic Chapel or to one's favorite charity.

WILLIAM McDUFFEY
William Franklin McDuffey, 74, of 214 Russell Street, Burgin, died Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at his residence.
Born April 22, 1925 in Harrison County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Gertie McDuffey. He was retired from the E. W. Brown Plant and the Burgin Fire Department.
Survivors include: his wife, Ann E. Dalton McDuffey, Burgin; two daughters, Ella Mae James and Judy G. Horton, both of Burgin: one brother, Roscoe McDuffey, Sadieville; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 2, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Lester Tirey officiating. Burial will be in the Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bill Marks, David Smith, Frank Brown, John D. Brown, Donald Bruce Brown, and Bud Sexton. Members of the Burgin Volunteer Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.

WILDA CUNNINGHAM
Wilda "Bill" Cunningham, 74, of 1135 Old Louisville Road, Salvisa, died Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at his residence.
Born August 12, 1925 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late David Ray and Mary Edwards Cunningham.
He was a former supervisor of maintenance with Kentucky Utilities. He was a member and deacon of the Kirkwood Baptist Church, a Mason with the Dugansville Lodge and an avid fisherman and gardener.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Bonnie Cox Cunningham, Salvisa; two sons, David Cunningham, Anderson County, Jimmy Gilmore, Lexington; three daughters, Mrs. Michael (Patricia) Singer, Louisville; Mrs. Ricky (Mary) Carey, Harrodsburg, Mrs. Timmy (Barbara) Sanders, Mercer County; two step daughters, Pam Switzer, Lexington and Kim Huffman, Salvisa; one step son, Keith Huffman, Lawrenceburg; two brothers, Buford and Byford Cunningham, both of Lawrenceburg; one sister, Mrs. Hubert (Jewell) Sparrow, Grafensburg; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren; four step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louellen Fint Cunningham, a son, Jeff Cunningham, and a sister, Ruth Wing.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 3, at the Kirkwood Baptist Church with Bro. Roy Coates and Bro. Larry Redding officiating. Burial will be in Kirkwood Cemetery.

James A. Davenport, 89, of 351 Woodsland Dr., died Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born June 22, 1910 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Walter Jackson and Emma Woods Davenport.
He was co-owner and operator of Davenport Transfer and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
He was Past Master of Mercer Masonic Lodge #777 F&AM, active with Boy Scouts for many years and was a member of the former Harrodsburg Bluegrass League Baseball Team.
He served in the Kentucky National Guard.
Survivors include: his wife, Hazel Davenport, Harrodsburg; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 3, at the Ransdell Funeral chapel with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Gann, Jason Gann, John Gann, Richard Doran, Bobby and Bruce Royalty. Honorary bearers will be Douglas Taylor and Leon Royalty.

Born April 24, 1907 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Joanna Sims Nicholes. She was the widow of Tom Steele and Roscoe Davis.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Harrodsburg Church of Christ.
Survivors include: a son, Buddy (Martha) Steele, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Arlene Medley, and Ruby (James "Frog") Raley, both of Harrodsburg; one daughter-in-law, Dora Carter, Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren 10 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, J. T. Carter, and a daughter, Alice Holzansky.

Margaret Ann Gash, 97, of 561 Lynn Drive, died Thursday, December 2, 1999 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born July 16, 1902 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Felix G. and Mary E. Brown Norton. She was the widow of Leonard Beckham "Beck" Gash.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Linda Holliday; six grandchildren, Wayne Holliday, Deidra Long, Mark Paul, Sherry Paul, Dennis Gash and Robin Gash; five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 4, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Bro. David Scalf officiating. Burial was in Kirkwood Cemetery, Salvisa.

Born in Harrodsburg, January 3, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Cora Carr Kurtz.
She was a member of the Campbellsville Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Kurtz.

Wilma B. Clayton, 85, of 4509 Lambert Rd., Louisville, died Thursday, December 2, 1999 at her residence.
Born March 29, 1914 in Rosedale, IN, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Poe and Elmer Rae Sanders Darland. She was the widow of Clarence Clifton Clayton.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Parkland Baptist Church in Louisville.
Survivors include: one daughter, Donna Rae Walker, Louisville; one sister-in-law, Addie Darland, Harrodsburg; two grandchildren, one great grandchild and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Wilma Jean McGill; two sisters, Mabel Morgan and Lela Morgan; two brothers, Virgil Darland and Jack Darland.

LINNIE HARMON
Linnie M. Adkinson Harmon, 95, of Harrodsburg Health Care Center, died Saturday, December 4, 1999 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born March 4, 1904 in Mercer County, she was a homemaker and a member of Grapevine Christian Church. She was the widow of Marvin Harmon.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Charlotte Henson of Columbia, TN, and one niece.
Graveside services were held Monday, December 6 at the Grapevine Christian Church cemetery with Bro. Jack Geurin officiating.

John William (Bill) Reid, 62, formerly of Harrodsburg, died at the UK Hospital, Lexington, November 22, 1999.
He was the son of the late Richard P. and Alice Combs Reid.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Ellen Adkins Reid; one son, Matthew Alan Reid, Louisa; one brother, Thomas W. Reid, Tuscon, AZ. He was the nephew of Mrs. Louise Stopher of Harrodsburg.
He was retired from the Kentucky Power Plant in Louisa.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 26, at the Wilson Funeral Home. Burial was in the Yatesville Memorial Gardens in Louisa.

RUTH GOODPASTER
Ruth Short Goodpaster, 83, of Horton Road, LaGrange, died Saturday, December 4, 1999 at the Taylorsville Health Care Center in Taylorsville.
Born July 29, 1916 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Dudley and Cokie Carrow Short. She was the widow of Clarence O. Goodpaster.
She was a retired 25 year custodian of the Covenant United Methodist Church in LaGrange, where she was a 38 year member. She participated in the church choir, Keenagers, Sunday School Class, worked on church newsletters, and the Asbury Quilting Circle.
She is survived by: one son, Doug (Robin) Goodpaster, Shelbyville; one step daughter, Gay Hammer, Grand Junction, CO; two brothers, Arvin and Carl Short, both of Salvisa; three grandchildren, four step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gail Short.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 8, at the Ritchie-Peach-Todd Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Dr. John C. Kerce and Dr. Terry Faris officiating. Burial was in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Arvin Wayne Short, Roy Short, Larry Short, Bennie Short, Butch Short and Bernie Short.

George Clifton "Peaches" Biggers, 81, of 735 Stoner Street, died Monday at his residence.
Born August 26, 1918 in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Thomas A. Biggers and Mary Logan Biggers. He was the widower of Georgia Lee Thompson Biggers.
He was retired from Pioneer One-Hour Cleaners, was a member of St. Peter AME church where he was a former member of the Trustee Board.
He was a US Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Commander Club, DAV.
Survivors include: one step daughter, Anita R. Covington, Harrodsburg; one step son, James E. Johnson, Seoul, South Korea; two sisters, Lula Johnson, Flint, MI and Francine Clark, Atlanta, GA; four step grandchildren, and five step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the St. Peter AME Church with Rev. Warren Dolphus officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Fred Bottoms, James Bryant, George Fisher, Andy Harris, George Wilhite and Harold Wilhite, Sr.

Zack Sanders, 70, 725 Shannon Avenue, died Monday, December 6, 1999 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born March 1, 1929 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Cabell and Lottie Riley Sanders.
He was a retired employee of the E. W. Brown, plant, after 29 years and Dairy Queen, where he worked for five years.
He was a member of the Shawnee Run Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Elsie Price Sanders, Harrodsburg; three sons, John Wesley (Butch) Sanders, Frankfort, David Lynn Sanders, Versailles, and Zack Alexander (Alex) Sanders, Morehead; three daughters, Barbara Jean Colvin and Kimberly Diane Tuggle, both of Mercer County, and Mrs. Evelyn Gayle Hall, Harrodsburg; one step daughter, Jeanette DeGuzman, Las Vegas, NV; seven brothers, J. C.
