JACK WOLMACK
Lexington Man Found Dead Near Herrington Lake Boat Dock
A Lexington man was found dead near the Pandora Boat Dock on the Herrington Lake Monday, but local officials are still unsure as to the cause of death.
Jack Wolmack, 48, of 237 South Point Drive in Lexington, was pronounced dead at the scene by Mercer County Coroner Larry Sanders at 7:26 p.m.
Sheriff Ralph Anderson said his office was dispatched to the scene at approximately 6:40 p.m. when a resident of the area saw a body floating in the water. Anderson said Wolmack had a flotation jacket on when he was found.
"Mr. Wolmack owns some property near the boat dock, and we think he had just come down to the area to enjoy the day," said Anderson. "A resident saw him alive on his property between 3:30 and 4 p.m. that day, and that was probably the last time anyone saw him alive."
Anderson said his office conducted an investigation but found no evidence of foul play.
"We saw no sign of a struggle, no sign of a robbery, nothing to indicate this was of a criminal nature," he said. "We don't even know the cause of death right now, and won't until we receive the results of an autopsy."
Anderson said Wolmack was well-known to residents of the area.
