Graveside services for Gloria Earbs Rieger, who died on Thursday, June 7 at Rivers Bend Retirement Home in Kuttawa were held on Friday, June 9 at Louisville Memorial Gardens West in Louisville. Owen Funeral Home in Louisville was in charge of arrangements.
She was born in Lyon County and was a retired specialist for Senior Community Employment Services. She was a member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ, American Legion Dixie Post #220, Shively Women’s Club and the Republicans Club.
She was preceded in death by herparents Robert and Mattie Eldora Hill; her husband, Albert Rieger; two brothers, Carl Duff and Billy Duff and one sister, Mary Brown.
She is survived by two sisters Barbara Henson of Hopkinsville and Joyce Lawrence of Princeton and several nieces and nephews. Expression of sympathy should be sent to Crusade for Children.
Vernon Crick
Services for Vernon Crick, 97 ,of Kuttawa, formerly of Paducah, who died at 3:55 a.m. on Monday, June 4 in Caldwell County Hospital in Princeton were held on Wednesday, June 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home Chapel in Eddyville.
Mr. Crick was a retired iron worker from East St. Louis and was of the Methodist faith.
Reverend David Herndon officiated with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lyon County.
He is survived by one son, John Crick of Pennsylvania; one sister, Evelyn O’Leary of St. Louis and two grandchildren.
Thomas G. Stovall
Thomas G. Stovall, 72, of Cape Canaveral, Florida, died on Friday, July 19.
He was born in Louisville on March 23, 1930.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952, as a Chief Electricians Mate. Most of his professional career was spent in Civil Engineering, including six years working on the construction on the Glenn Canyon Dam in Page, Arizona.
Survivors include five daughters, Deborah Kaye McNeil of Wilmington, North Carolina, Susan Denise Lawson of Williamsburg, Virginia, Diane Stovall Smith of Cape Canaveral, Donna Lynn Stovall of Crescent City, California and Rebekah Gwen Parker of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Kay Litton of Frankfort; one brother, Bill Stovall of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.
A private memorial service was held on Sunday, July 21. The family requests that memorials be sent to American Heart Association. Call 1-800-242-8721 for information.
James R. (Jim) Boyd
James R. (Jim) Boyd, 79, of Valley Falls, Kansas, formerly of Eddyville, died on Tuesday, July 23, at Topeka, Kansas Hospice Facility.
He was the former Executive Director for Marketing Development and Advertising for Farmland Food at Kansas City, Missouri, until he retired in 1984. He was born on September 4, 1922, in Eddyville, the son of Thomas J. and Imogene George Boyd. He graduated from Eddyville High School in 1940.
Mr. Boyd was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Valley Falls, Kansas and was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Frances Miller.
Survivors include his wife, Agne Talley Boyd; three sons, Jeff Boyd and Jim Boyd both of Belleville, Illinois and Reverend Jon Boyd of Ottawa, Kansas; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Saturday, July 27, at Dunn’s Funeral Home in Eddyville, with burial in Hickory Grove Cemetery in old Eddyville.
