George West Forsythe, 88, of 2000 South Main Street, Paris, died Monday, February 28, 2000.
Born February 7, 1912 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late James M. and Georgia West Forsythe. He was the widower of Sara Elizabeth Whaley Forsythe.
He graduated from Henry Clay High School, received his Master’s Degree in education from the University of Kentucky, was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, and the First Christian Church.
He was a retired teacher who had taught at Covington Holmes High School, Pikeville College, Lee Junior College, Stanford High School, Pikeville High School, Belfry High School and Frankfort High School.
Survivors include: one son, James M. (Dianne J.) Forsythe; three grandchildren, all of Richmond, VA. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Katharine Alexander Murphy.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 3, at Spring Hill Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Bell officiating.
Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church, Paris, or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Visitation will be from 6;00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home, 528 Pleasant St., Paris, KY.
TONY CRAWLEY
Tony Marvin Crawley, 45, of 961 Crawford Lane, Stanford, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, February 29, 2000 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born September 7, 1954 in Mercer County, he was the son of Alvin L. and Lorena Peavler Crawley, Sr.
He worked as a blacktop contractor for Jade Construction and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include: his wife, Cleva Crawley, Stanford; three daughters, Linda Crawley, Toni Crawley and Chastity Crawley, all of Harrodsburg; one sister, Sue Long, Harrodsburg; four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Crawley Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 2;00 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with John David Lane officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Bast, Mark Caton, Joe Adams, Mike McCoy, Josh Collier and Donnie Neal.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and prior to service on Thursday.
MARGARET BURRUS
Margaret Elizabeth Black Burrus, 81, of 477 West Broadway, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born July 4, 1918 in Louisville, she was the daughter of the late Mattie Settles Black Jones and the widow of William Thompson Burrus.
She was a member of the Centennial Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Robert Lee Black, Harrodsburg; five brothers, Riley Jones, Lexington, Walter and Dave Jones of Shelbyville, James Jones, Frankfort and Claude Jones, Seattle, WA; two sisters, Rose McFarland, Louisville, and Evelena Shirley, Bagdad; two brothers-in-law, Lambert and Charles Burrus, both of Louisville, three grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 6, at the Centennial Baptist Church with Rev. J.D. Short, III officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Donnie Mayes, Billy Parks, Alvis Johnson, Stewart Shirley, Harrison Burrus, Melvin Ison, and Willie "Jack Rabbit" Bottoms.
HALDON SIMS
Haldon J. Sims, 75, 588 Rose Lane, died Friday, March 3, 2000 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born April 26, 1924, he was a son of the late Frank Evan and Jeanetta Hellard Sims.
He was a retired self-employed truck driver and a member of Berea Christian Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Kevin (Ella S.) Hale, Harrodsburg; a former wife, Cinda Wilburn Sims; three sisters, Mrs. Lafon (De Ette) Darland, Mrs. Edwin (Louise) Harlow and Mrs. Warren (Bernice) Matherly, all of Harrodsburg; one brother, Vernon Sims, Frankfort; one grandchild and two step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Sims, and a sister, Dorothy Sanders.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2000 at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home by Bro. Kevin Patrick. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Benny Matherly, Mike Matherly, Michael Hardin, Curtis Graham, Greg Hale and Dustin Hale.

JOSEPH SALLEE
Joseph (Joe) Louis Sallee, 50, 721 Shannon Avenue, died Saturday, March 4, 2000 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born April 3, 1949 in Marion County, he was the son of the late John Henry and Ella Mae Fisher Sallee.
He had served as Supervisor of the Parks Department for the City of Harrodsburg and had been an employee of the City of Harrodsburg for 19 ½ years.
He was a member of Arbuckle Baptist Church in Marion County.
Survivors include: his wife of 22 years, Deborah Jean Day Sallee, Harrodsburg; one son, Joseph Andrew Sallee, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Rebecca Mae Sallee Harrodsburg; one step daughter, Gladys Ann Tate Harrodsburg; one brother, Ernest Sallee Lebanon; three sisters, Rosie Dyers and Claire Potts, both of Gravel Switch, and Ruby Sallee, Lebanon; two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robbie Sallee.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home. Burial were in Spring Hill Cemetery.
CHARLES COFFMAN
Charles Logan "Charlie" Coffman, 83, of Bowen Road, Stanford, died Sunday March 5, 2000 at the VA Medical Center, Cooper Drive, in Lexington.
Born May 1, 1916 in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Matthew and Ida Simpson Coffman.
He was a retired Standard Metals employee and a truck driver. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.
He was an Army veteran.
Survivors include: his wife, Glenna Marie Chriswell Coffman, Stanford; three daughters, Edna Doris Brown and Shirley Ann Anness, both of Danville, and Jeanette Bartlett, Stanford; two sons, Kenneth George Coffman, Perryville and Ernest Logan Coffman, Lawrenceburg; two brothers, Obert Coffman, Mitchellsburg, and Virgil Coffman, Harrodsburg; one sister, Molly Lamb, Lexington; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 8, at the Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Albert Scott officiating. Burial was in the Parksville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dale Anness, Mike Kidd, Charles Anness, Eric Coffman, Kenny Pollett, James Pevely, Chris Pollett and Austin Anness. Honorary bearers were Ina Pollett, Gail Stone, Angie Douglas, Tammy Pulliam, Teresa Lambert, Glenna Hardin and Sheliah Collier.
RICHARD CORNELIUS
Richard Clarence Cornelius, 83, of 1133 Cecelia Avenue, Coving-ton, died Sunday, February 27 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Crescent Springs.
He was born September 16, 1916 in Mercer County, the son of the late R. S. and Verner Scrogham Cornelius.
He was a 1934 graduate of Harrodsburg High School, a World War II Army veteran and a retired postal worker.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge #777 at Harrodsburg and was a Kentucky Colonel.
He was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Violet Wilder Cornelius, Covington; two daughters, Jean Gibson and Barbara Lucas, both of Cincinnati; two brothers, Dan Cornelius, Harrodsburg, and Jack Cornelius, Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Julia Speer, Florida, Lyda Todd, Harrodsburg, and June Grivetti, Latonia; four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Fred, Howard, John, James and Robert; and one sister, Evelyn Ellis.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 1, at Don Catchen and Son, Erlanger. Burial was in Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell.
Pallbearers were nephews and grandsons.
DONALD MILLER
Donald C. Miller, Sr., 89, of 104 Honey Suckle Court, Nicholasville, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000 at the Darby Square Nursing Home in Lexington.
Born July 21, 1910 in Lisbon, OH, he was the son of the late Grover and Della Crawford Miller. He was the widower of Norma Betty Maloney Miller.
He was a retired self-employed horse driver and trainer and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Lisbon.
He was named as leading driver and trainer at Saratoga Springs, NY, was a member of the Old-Timers Club at Saratoga Raceway, and developed such horses as White Mountain Boy, Darn Flashy, Tar Mite, Flower Child, and Bret Hanover.
Survivors include: one son, Don Miller, Jr., of Nicholasville; two daughters, Judith Lunsford, Burgin, and Patty Bays, Lexington; one granddaughter and one great grandson.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 3, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Lester Tirey officiating.
Pallbearers were Mark Lunsford, Henry Lunsford, Robbie Lunsford, Tony Rogers, J. A. Bennett, and Larry Baker.

ED SIMMONS
Roy Edward "Ed" Simmons, 48, of 456 Manns Road, died Monday, March 6, 2000 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born December 28, 1951 in Covington, he was the son of Mary Etsye Williams Simmons and the late Raymond Leonard Simmons.
He had worked as a general manager for Art's Telcom. He was a member of Highland's Baptist Church in Georgetown and served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict.
He was a life member of the NRA, a member of the Mercer Fish and Game Club, a 4-H firearms instructor, certified by NRA and attended the Pioneer Baptist Church. He served on the advisory board for Electrical Class at KY. Vocational Technical School.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: his wife, Nancy Eileen Douthitt Simmons, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Stephanie Lynne Simmons, Harrodsburg; three brothers, David Simmons, Lexington, Randy Simmons, Miami, FL, and Mark Simmons, Richmond; one sister, Donna Lynne (Bill) Lacy, Cannel City.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Lewis Walter and Sam Stow officiating. Burial will be in the Snuffer Cemetery, London.
Pallbearers will be David Simmons, Randy Simmons, Mark Simmons, Michael Simmons, Joe Douthitt, Mathew Douthitt, Chris Lacy and Bill Lacy. Honorary bearers will be William May and Paul Winandy.

JAMES CLOYD
James Taylor Cloyd, 82, of Daisy Street, died Sunday, March 5, 2000 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
A native of Washington County, he was born on December 1, 1917 to the late William Harvey and Maudie Mae Baker Cloyd.
He was a member of the Willisburg Baptist Church, a 1936 graduate of Willisburg High School and a retired farmer, carpenter, and former maintenance employee of Eaton Manufacturing Company in Harrodsburg.
Survivors include: His wife, Joyce Thompson Cloyd; two sons, James A. Cloyd, Danville and Jeffery Cloyd, Willisburg; two daughters, Mrs. David (Deanna) Abney, Louisville and Debbie Jackson, Harrodsburg; one sister-in-law, Aileen Cloyd, Willisburg; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Olson Cloyd, November 28, 1992, and a sister, Elizabeth Cloyd Hardin, April 4, 1998.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 7, at the Carey and Son Funeral Home in Springfield, with Rev. J. W. Hatfield officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Pallbearers were Norman Hall, Mike Thompson, Justin Pike, Allen Pinkston, Tracy Thompson and William Terry Boblitt.
