Lucille Mae Preston, 81, of 600 Jackson Pike, died Saturday, July 5, 2003 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born January 31, 1922 in Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late William Elbert and Virginia Belle Larkin Preston.
She was a self-employed home health caregiver and a member of the Joseph Chapel Methodist Church.
Survivors include one brother, Charles (Betty) Preston of Harrodsburg and a number of cousins.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 8, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Gary Story and Danny Wiley officiating. Burial will be in the Lexington Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Moore, Raymond Waits, Donald Ball, Larry Taylor, Earl Watts, and James Larson.
Memorials are suggested to the Joseph Chapel Methodist Church.
ROY REED
Roy Reed, 85, of Mann’s Road, died Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at his residence.
Born June 2, 1918 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late John Garret and Lottie Warner Reed.
He was a lifelong member of Cornishville Christian Church where he served as a deacon and a member of the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class.
He enjoyed farming as an occupation and as a hobby.
Survivors include: his wife, Edith Durr Reed, Mercer County; one daughter, Gail (Jimmy) Reed Devine, Danville; one sister, Cordelia Miller, Greenup; three grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 5, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Curtis Sims and Bro. Paul Readnour officiating. Burial was in the Cornishville Christian Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Keith Britton, Ronnie Britton, Johnnie Britton, Hughes Coslow, Danny Howard, Archie Britton, Hanley McMullin and Clyde Sims Jr.

OLAF SPECK
Olaf Gunter Speck, 51, of Oakland Lane, formerly of Boulder and Longmont, CO, died Saturday, July 5, 2003 at his residence.
Born July 21, 1951 in Hamburg, Germany, he was the son of Ruth and Gunter Speck.
He obtained his degree in graphic arts in Germany and was a talented carpenter and handyman. He loved to travel and first came to the United States in 1979.
He was a longtime student of the Venerable Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and lived, worked and studied at Shambhala Mountain Center in Red Feather Lakes, CO for many years.
He was an avid small aircraft pilot and a creative artist and percussionist.
Survivors include: his wife, Zoe Drake, Harrodsburg; one sister, Petra Speck and a nephew, Matis Speck, both of Hamburg, Germany.
Funeral services were held at the Lexington Kentucky Shambhala Center, 315 Maxwell Street, Lexington, on Tuesday, July 8.
Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, was in charge of arrangements.

WANDA WARNER
Wanda Stumph Warner, 69, Scenic Drive, formerly of Bloomfield, died Thursday, July 3, 2003 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born September 8, 1933 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Nannie Lou Darland Stumph.
She was a member of Harrodsburg Christian Church where she served as a deacon and an officer of Friendship Circle.
She was a member of Bloomfield Christian Church for 42 years where she served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, CWF president, sang in the choir and was a 16 year presenter at the Community Tree of Life.
She was a 1951 graduate of Mackville High School and retired from the Nelson County School System after 25 years.
Survivors include: her husband, James R. Warner, Harrodsburg; two sons, Barry (Mary Jane) Warner, Winchester, Jeff (Sherri) Warner, Georgetown; three brothers, Albert Stumph and Donald Stumph, both of Harrodsburg, and Sam (Barbara) Stumph, Mackville; two sisters, June (Stan) Green, Harrodsburg, Bertie (Jess) Todd, Seattle, WA, three granddaughters, Kendall, Sarah and Katie Warner, and one grandson, Brandon Warner.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 6, at the Bloomfield Christian Church with Don Chase and Tom Pierce officiating. Burial was in the Chaplin Highview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brandon Warner, Rob Walker, Ken Walker, Brenda Stewart, Teresa Miller and Donnie Stumph. Members of the Bloomfield Christian Church choir, Sunday School class and CWF, served as honorary bearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrodsburg Christian Church Renovation Fund or the Bloomfield Christian Church Memorial Fund.

BENNY MATHERLY
Warren Bennett "Benny" Matherly, 48, of Elizabeth Court, Harrodsburg, died Sunday, July 6, 2003.
Born August 11, 1954 in Mercer County, he was the son of Berniese Sims Matherly of Harrodsburg and the late Warren Matherly.
He was a construction worker and was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: one brother, Michael D. (Kathy) Matherly of Harrodsburg; one nephew, Brad (Susan) Matherly of Danville; one niece, Lyndsay Matherly of Harrodsburg, and one great niece Rachel Katheryn Matherly, Danville; and several aunts, DeEtte Darland, Orene Matherly, Imogene Matherly, and Gerry Russell.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 11, 2003 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Don Chase officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Zenah Teater, Eddie Combs, Chip Combs, Brent Combs, Doyle Darland, Lee Sanders, and Donald Ray Matherly.

RUSTY WEBB
Rusty Blake Webb, 21, of 494 Ashley Drive, died Sunday, July 13, 2003, as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Jessamine County.
Born March 8, 1982 in Mercer County, he was the son of Randall Blake and Garnetta Semones Webb of Harrodsburg.
He was a 2001 graduate of Harrodsburg High School, and employed by AmCor Pet Packaging of North America in Nicholasville. He attended the Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include: one sister, Stephanie (Chris) Watts, Mercer County; paternal grandparents, Hubert and Onieda Webb, Mitchellsburg; and his fiancée, Erin Middleton, Harrodsburg.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 16, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with James Byrd officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike and Clint Medley, Mike Mullins, Francis Bowman, Greg Wilcher and Lucas Stamps. Honorary bearers were Lee Dawson, Sonny Key, Michael Paul Webb, Ray Fletcher, Chris Renner, and Kevin, Mike and Billy Ray Semones.
HARRY BAKER
Harry Arnold Baker, 68, of Lexington, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at his residence.
Born in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late James Abraham and Lorraine White Baker.
He was a graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College and received his Master’s Degree from Georgetown College.
He taught school for seven years at Fordsville, Tates Creek, and Lafayette High Schools. He then worked for the Kentucky Department of Education as a supervisor of Adult Basic Education where he retired after 27 years.
He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and was on several committees, including the Board of Trustees and the Nominating Committee. He was also a past president of the Fideils Sunday School Class.
Survivors include: his wife, Alice Cameron Baker, Lexington; two daughters, Gloria J. (Joe) Cerzosie, Lexington, Sheila K. (Kevin) Burton, Birmingham, AL; three brothers, James “Jack” Baker, Robert Baker, and Kenneth Baker, all of Lexington; two sisters, Frances Taylor and Tena Oel, both of Lexington; three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, William “Dud” Baker.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 21, at the Centenary United Methodist Church with Dr. Donald Durham and Dr. Jerry L. Mercer officiating. Burial was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Bill Hall, Archie Weeks, Tom Watkins, B. J. Burnett, John Herkamp, George Wolffbrandt, Paul Evans and Paul Taylor.

Clara Cox, 83, of Locust Grove, GA, formerly of Lexington and Versailles, died Saturday, July 19, 2003 in Harrodsburg.
Born in Clark County, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Louise Anderson. She was the widow of Lawrence “Godie” Cox.
She was a Baptist.
Survivors include: three daughters, Phyllis Otis, Locust Grove, GA, Barbara Moore, Harrodsburg, and Peggy Hardin, Lawrenceburg; one son, Kenneth Cox, Richmond; two sisters, Elsie Cox, Beulah Anderson, and two brothers, Orville Anderson, and Billy Anderson, all of Lexington; 19 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 22, at the Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home, Versailles, with Rev. Dwayne Walker officiating. Burial was in the Versailles Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Richard Gibson, Kenny Wayne Gipson, Paul Radford, James O’Connell, Omer Moore and Raymond Scott.
