Amy Justice, two months old, daughter of Mandy Lowe Justice of Harrodsburg and Michael Tidd of Lawrenceburg, died Tuesday, July 8, 2003. Born May 3, 2003 in Danville, she was the little sister of Jacob and Alexandrea Justice both of Harrodsburg.
She is also survived by her maternal great grandparents Henry and Edna Hiter of Harrodsburg, maternal grandparents Roger and Kathy Jennings of Harrodsburg, paternal great grandparents Harry and June Tidd of Kingsville, Ohio, and William and Alma Morris of Lexington, and paternal grandparents Glenn and Vickie Tidd of Frankfort.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2003 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Jack Smith officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. To 9:00 p.m. Thursday and after 7:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
SARAH HOLLIDAY
Sarah Will Holliday, 90, of Cardinal Meadows, died Thursday, July 17, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born August 29, 1914 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Ben C. and Hanna Robinson Hendren. She was the widow of Onis Holliday
She was a former employee of Palm Beach in Danville, the Danville Laundry, the former Danville Motor Lodge and was a member of the Danville Church of Christ.
Survivors include: one granddaughter, Gay (Harold) Winters, Atlanta, GA; three great-grandchildren, John Allen, Amanda Ryan, and Kyle Andrew Winters, all of Atlanta; and one nephew, Danny Noel of Harrodsburg. She was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Allen Holliday and three sisters, Beva Kennedy, Ada Lee Styers, and Berthie Best.
Graveside services were held Saturday, July 19, in Spring Hill Cemetery with Gary Bagwell officiating.
Memorials are suggested to one’s favorite charity.
Ransdell Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
IVA POWERS
Iva Spivey Powers, 81, formerly of Millersburg, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born March 13, 1922 in Estill County, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Sarah Ellen Rose Spivey. She was the widow of Mitchell Powers.
She was educated in the Bourbon County School System and was a member of the Magnolia Street Christian Church in Harrodsburg.
Survivors include: one daughter, Carolyn Powers (Phillip) Crump, Harrodsburg; and three sisters, Carrie Shumate, Virginia Crump and Hallie Linvile, all of Paris. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Luther and Vernon Spivey, and four sisters, Minnie Tevis, Florence Watson, Mary Reva Cantor and Della S. Williams.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 18, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home in Paris with Rev. Matthew Atha officiating. Burial was in the Paris Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Carolyn Powers Crump, Marsha Wilcher, Mitch Crump, Zac Crump, Shannon Bacher, Phillip Crump, Jamie Louallen, Don Darnell and Sonja Darnell. Honorary bearers were Bill Powers, Mike Powers, Vernon Spivey Jr., Billy Williams, Wayne Shumate, Charles Watson, Hobart Spivey, Bobby Reid, Lois Dean, Evelyn Guthrie, Deliah Sanders, Mildred Riley, Dorthy Simpson and Mike Matherly.

HAZEL ROBINSON
Hazel Lavern Sanders Robinson, 89, of 440 Bates Street, died Thursday, July 17, at her residence.
Born December 15, 1913 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late John Morris and Julia Ann Mullins Sanders. She was the widow of Alvin Paul Robinson.
She was a retired seamstress of the former Cricketer Manufacturing Company, a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church for 56 years, where she served as a choir member for 53 years, a member of the Young at Heart Group, and a member of the WMU for several years.
Survivors include two sons, Charles T. Robinson and Michael W. (Joyce) Robinson, both of Harrodsburg; two daughters, Mrs. Kenny Bob Horn and Mrs. Harry (Glenda) Burke both of Harrodsburg; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 19, at the Hopewell Baptist Church, with Richard Easterling, Chuck Robinson and Cleo Goodlett officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandchildren and honorary bearers were great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice or to the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
ROBERT LOUALLEN
Robert Edmond Louallen Sr., 63, of Willisburg died Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
Born July 31, 1939 in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Mike and Maggie Hardin Louallen.
Survivors include: his companion, Marjorie Whalen; two sons, Robert E. Louallen Jr., of Las Vegas, NV and Johnny Louallen, CA; one brother, Gene Louallen, Harrodsburg; a sister, Louise Haydon, Nicholasville; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Miller and H. B. Louallen and two sisters, Virginia Watts and Dollie White.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 25, at Carey and Son Funeral Home, Springfield, with Bro. Greg Bowen, officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Pallbearers were Tommy Coulter, Ernie Akin, Ray Tingle, Tony Royalty, Tim White and Johnnie Phillips.
HAZEL McMURRY
Hazel McMurry, 88, of Mercer County, died Saturday, July 26, 2003 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
Born November 21, 1914 in Jessamine County, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna Buffin Rhineheimer. She was the widow of James E. McMurry.
She was a member of the Nicholasville Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include: one son, James E. McMurry Jr.; Mercer County; one daughter, Kay McMurry, Mercer County; one sister, Mrs. Susan Johns, Nicholasville; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Roy and George Rhineheimer.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 29, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Kenneth Preston officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Dean, Robert Johns, Tommy Cox, Gary Simpson, Jeremy Simpson and Craig Cox.
DANA SMITH
Dana Phelps Smith, 51, of Richmond Hill, GA, died Thursday, July 17, 2003 at her residence.
Born November 28, 1951 in Savannah, GA, she was the daughter of Betty S. Whitmore.
Survivors include: her husband, Mark Smith, Richmond Hill, formerly of Mackville; two daughters, Holly Tabeau and Tabitha Smith; one son, Chris Smith; a sister, Jan “Cookie” Green, all of Richmond Hill, GA; two brothers-in-law, Tony Smith, Danville, and Tim Smith, Mackville; one sister-in-law, Donna Thompson, Salvisa; and paternal in-laws, Buddy and Joyce Smith, Harrodsburg.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 21, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Richmond Hill, GA by Father Joseph Smith. Burial was in Hillcrest Abbey West, Savannah, GA.
Pallbearers were Todd Wagner, Trey Wagner, Robert Byrd, Kevin Johns, Chris Long and Neal Krajewski.
Richmond Hill Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
MARTY SMITH
Marty Smith, 37, of Lisa Avenue, Danville, died Monday, July 28, 2003 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born November 21, 1965 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Gracie Gaines Smith of Brodhead and the late Richard Marvin Smith.
He was a self-employed carpenter, a 1983 graduate of Harrodsburg High School and had served in the U. S. Marine Corps.
He was an avid UK basketball and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: one brother, Clint Smith, Lancaster, and one sister, Lisa Smith, Miami. He was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Jamie Releford officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Todd Cheatham, Gary Cheatham, Phillip Belcher Jr., Terry Smith, Gary Smith and Lynn Releford. Honorary bearers will be Clay Devine, Derrick Hughes, Phillip Belcher, Fran Belcher, Sondra Martin, Grover Phillips and Randy Robinson.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until the hour of service at the funeral home.
SAMUEL VAUGHT Jr.
Samuel Vaught Jr., 69, of Stanford, died Thursday, July 24, 2003 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born August 23, 1933 in Casey County, he was the son of the late Sam and Letha Edwards Vaught. He was the widower of Effie Lee Gilmer Vaught.
He was retired from Corning Glass Works.
Survivors include: one daughter, Lynda Sue Elliott, Harrodsburg; two sons, John Gilmer Vaught, Hustonville and Michael Lee Vaught, Stanford; three sisters, Dorothy Brown, Alma Monday and Irene Bryant, all of Liberty; four brothers, Melvin and Eugene Vaught, both of Liberty, Icie Lee Vaught of Hustonville and Vallas Vaught of Yosemite; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl, Herman, B. D., Elvin and Arvin Vaught.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 26, at the Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, Liberty, with Rev. Greg Nimmo officiating. Burial was in Hustonville Cemetery.
MARIE BAKER
Marie Baker, 97, of Lexington, died Tuesday, August 5, 2003.
Born December 11, 1905 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert P. and Clara Eastin Baker.
She was a retired secretary for Gibson Greeting Card Company, a member of First Christian Church and the Versailles Chapter #426 of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include: cousins, Charlotte Corn (John) Renfro, Charles Corn Renfro, Franklin Eastin Renfro and Terrell Ellis Renfro. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma T. and Minnie Baker and four brothers, Robert, Malcolm, Fred and Kenneth Baker.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, August 7, at W. R. Milward Mortuary-Broadway, Lexington, with Rev. Joe Bob Grider officiating. Burial will be in Burgin Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be John W. Renfro, Charles Corn Renfro, Franklin Eastin Renfro and Terrell Ellis Renfro. Honorary bearer will be Henry Doolittle.

SARAH CORNELIUS
Sarah Susan Cornelius, 91, of 647 Mooreland Avenue, died Thursday, July 31 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born July 23, 1912 in Warren County, she was the daughter of the late Monroe Barkley and Ella Maggie Benson Lively. She was the widow of James W. Cornelius.
She was a homemaker, a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church, where she served as past president of the WMU and was a Sunday School teacher for the LLL Class.
Survivors include: two sons, David L. Cornelius, Spokane, WA and Fred H. Cornelius, Murray; two daughters, Donna (Richard) Elliott, Whitesburg, and Marie (Bill) Cooper, Harrodsburg; one sister, Ara Hord, FL; seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, James W. and Clarence William Cornelius.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug 3, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Great-grandsons served as pallbearers.
