Born November 13, 1933 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Maude Poynter Lucas.
She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include: her husband, William Foster Turner, Burgin; one daughter, Brenda Hensley, Norfolk, VA; three sons, Billy and Ricky Turner, both of Burgin, Tony Turner, Cleveland, OH; one brother, Bobby Lucas, FL; three sisters, Margaret Marlow, Louisville, Nancy Phillips and Jo Phillips, both of Danville; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Lucas, and a sister, Anna McAninch.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 19, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Smith officiating. Burial was in Parksville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chad, Chris, David, Danny and Cody Turner, and Andy Phillips.
MALLIE BLACKETER
Mallie Helen Royalty Blacketer, 79, of Louisville, formerly of Washington County, died Saturday, August 23, 2003 at the Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville.
Born April 5, l924 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Asa and Belle Hatchett Royalty. She was a member of the Auburndale Baptist Church and a 1941 graduate of Willisburg High School.
Survivors include: her husband, Omar Blacketer, Louisville; one daughter, Bernice Baswell, Jeffersonville, IN; a stepson, Eddie Blacketer, Louisville; a stepdaughter, Betty Cox, Glendale, AZ; two daughters-in-law, Alice D. Hudson, Willisburg and Laquita Hudson of Jeffersontown, IN, and two brothers, Henry Royalty of Willisburg and Eugene Royalty of Lawrenceburg. She was preceded in death by two sons, Douglas Hudson and Allen H. Hudson, one sister, Nina Royalty Wilson, and two brothers, Harvey Royalty and Keith Royalty.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 25, at the Carey and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Oliver Hawkins officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Pallbearers were Tony Royalty, Rudy Gabhart, Maurice Wilson, Roger Durr, Gary Royalty and Roy E. Burkhead.
FLONNIE BYRD
Flonnie Byrd, age 79, formerly of East Lexington Street, Harrodsburg died Thursday August 21, 2003 at the Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation.
Born in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Matrie Wesley Godbey, and the step-daughter of the late Dutch Kinder. She was the widow of Arthur Ray Byrd.
She was a homemaker, a Baptist, enjoyed raising flowers and was a fan of Ray Charles' music.
Survivors include: three sons, Joe Byrd, Danville, Jerry Byrd, Salvisa, and David Byrd, Harrodsburg; two daughters: Phyllis Medley, Harrodsburg and Janice Turner, Boyle County; three brothers: Delmer Godbey, Franklin County, Floyd Godbey, Harrodsburg and Velmer Godbey, Anderson County; seventeen grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Byrd, two sisters, Viola Jean Webb and Rose Mary Godbey, two brothers, Edgar and Ernest Godbey; and one grandson: Scott Allen Medley.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 23, at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Charles White officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dennis Byrd Devine, Robert Medley, Charles Boswell, Jerry Byrd, James Turner and Jerry Byrd, Jr.
DAVID DUNNING
David Lynn Dunning, 47, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, August 26, 2003 in Iowa.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.
LAURA DEVINE
Laura B. Devine, 80, of 125 Castle Heights, died Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at her residence.
Born July 16, 1923 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late John Horn Sr. and Lillie Rosaline Burns Horn. She was the widow of Maurice J. Devine.
She was a homemaker, a member of Bruner’s Chapel Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, secretary for training union, a Sunday School teacher, and executive board member of the Mercer Baptist Association.
Survivors include: one son, Glenn (Martina) Devine, Mercer County; four sisters, Birdie Gooch, Danville, Valeria Kidd, Harrodsburg, Lois Kidd and Mary Traynor, both of Lexington; one grandson and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Horn Jr., and two sisters, Alma Horn and Florence Kidd.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 23, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Arnold Moon, Jack Guerin and Greg Humpert officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Rex and Mark Kidd, David and Michael Traynor, and Kevin and Michael Horn. Honorary bearers were Miller, Don, Willie B., Billy and Morris Horn, and members of her Sunday School Class.

DENNIA NORTON
Dennia Norton, 81, of Greenbriar Drive, died Monday, August 25, 2003 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born February 15, 1922 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late George and Cordellia Claunch Durr. She was the widow of Andrew Jackson (A. J.) Norton.
She was a former employee of Palm Beach, Cricketeer, James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital, Harrodsburg Health Care and Arnold’s Greenhouse.
She was a member of Bruner’s Chapel Baptist Church and enjoyed growing flowers.
Survivors include: one daughter, Marsha Montgomery, Harrodsburg; one son, Leslie A. Norton, Harrodsburg; three brothers, Morris Durr and Leslie Durr, both of Harrodsburg, and Chandler Durr, FL; four sisters, Beulah Bugg, Melvina Cheatham, Virginia Ann Robertson and Beatrice Gritton, all of Harrodsburg; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm. Thursday, August 28, at Spring Hill Cemetery with Chaplain Gary Story officiating.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:00 a.m. Thursday at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.

JEWELL PERKINS
Jewell Darland Perkins, 79, of Polin Road, Willisburg, died Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at the Springfield Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born October 27, 1923 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Mildred Sutton Darland.
She was a member of the Willisburg Baptist Church and owned and operated Jewell’s Beauty Shop in Willisburg for many years before retirement.
Survivors include: her husband, Joe Perkins, Willisburg; one son, David (Vicky) Perkins, Lebanon; two daughters, Jo Ann (Allen) Blacketer, Louisville, and Judy Marksbury, Harrodsburg; two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Joyce) Busse and Pat Bishop, both of Louisville; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Darland, and a sister, Wanda Darland Lord.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 22, at the Carey and Son Funeral Home with Rev. J. W. Hatfield officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Pallbearers were Bill Jones, Shawn Perkins, Brian Marksbury, Hubert Colvin, Jack Scruggs and Dr. Tom Perkins.
LILUS RILEY
Lilus R. Stine Riley, 92, of 469 Chestnut Street, died Monday, August 25, 2003 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born February 21, 1911 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Elizabeth Kyler Stine. She was the widow of R. C. Riley.
She was a retired homemaker and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Elaine (Junior) Warner, Harrodsburg; Shannon (Dennis) Holiday, Harrodsburg, and Patsy (Dave) Davis, Nashville, TN; one sister, Martha Adams, Lawrenceburg, eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Riley.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 27, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg.
Pallbearers were Todd Taylor, Channing Taylor, Clay Chesser, Will Chesser, Bobby Riley, Gary Riley, James Whited, Joe Meuer, Ty Holiday and Charlie Holiday. Honorary bearers were Clinton Riley, Mathew Riley, Joseph Meuer, Chris Meuer, Josh Meuer and Jamie Whited.
ALBERT BRYANT
Albert Marion Bryant, 82, of Logan Avenue, Dan-ville, died Tues-day, September 2, 2003 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
Born July 24, 1921 in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Clinton and Myrtle Shaddock Bryant.
He was retired from the Bank of Danville, a retired Baptist minister, A World War II army veteran and a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Betsy Sharp Bryant, Danville; four daughters, Brenda Woods, Alice Gilliland and Martha Bryant, all of Danville, and Mary Beth Shelton, Crab Orchard; three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Keith Marion Bryant.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5, at First Baptist Church in Danville with Dr. Tim Mathis officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery in Danville.
Pallbearers will be Connie Horn, Buddy Furr, Pete and Dan Wills, Terry Shelton and Charles Gilliland. Honorary bearers will be members of the Andrews Sunday School class.
Visitation will be at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home, Danville from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday.
DAVID DUNNING
David Lynn Dunning, 55, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, August 26, 2003 in Mitchellville, IA.
Born December 30, 1947 in Corning, NY, he was a son of the late Donald and Marjorie Hartman Dunning.
He was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School and had attended Fellowship Baptist Church.
He retired after 27 years with IBM in Lexington, and enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include: one son, Jeremy (Pam) Dunning, Salisbury, NC; three brothers, Norman Dunning, Salvisa, Robert Dunning, and Darrell Dunning of Burgin; two sisters, Donna McGinnis and Linda Cheatham, both of Harrodsburg; two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Dean and Jackie Burke.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 30, at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

TERRY HART
Terry Brent Hart, 48, of 563 Bruner’s Chapel Road, died Friday, August 29, 2003 in Jefferson County.
Born February 19, 1955 in Mercer County, he was the son of Marshall Leon and Imogene Worthington Hart, both of Mercer County.
He was a self-employed truck driver and quail farmer. He was a member of Quail Unlimited and a member of Bruner’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include: his wife, Diana C. Hart, Mercer County; five sons, Lee (Jessica) Hart, Adam (Lori) Hart, Travis (Phyllis) Stephens, Shannon (Billie Joe) Stephens and Jeremy Stephens; two brothers David (Marlene) Hart and Jeffery (Lisa) Hart; one sister Debbie (Kenny) Merriman, all of Harrodsburg; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held. Monday, September 1, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Arnold Moon, Mike Napier, and Daryl Catlett. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
