Regina Lee Ammons, 22, of 5443 East 16th Street, Indianapolis, IN, died Saturday, October 11, 2003 as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Lincoln County.
Born April 21, 1981 in Tampa, Florida, she was the daughter of Dennis Lynn Ammons, Indianapolis, IN and Loraine K. Kendhammer Slagle, Griffin, GA.
She was an office manager for the Community Pediatric Care Center in Indianapolis, attended Indiana Business College and was a member of the Christian Tabernacle.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include: her stepmother Beverly Jo Ammons, Indianapolis; paternal grandmother Waldine Gray, Mercer County; maternal grandmother Ruth Whelan, England; one brother, Christopher Lynn Ammons, Indianapolis, and one sister, Brittany Marie Steiger, Griffin, GA.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 14, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Floying Thompson. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ken Ammons, Daniel Ray Harper, Jr., Ryan Eldridge, Walter Eldridge, Chris Hawkins, Christopher Ammons, Heather Ammons, and Dianne Harper.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital in Lexington.
EVA ANDERSON
Eva Mae Anderson, 85, of Clay Lick Road, Salvisa, died Tuesday October 14, 2003 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born August 4, 1918 in Hazard, she was the daughter of the late Bev and Sally Roark Reynolds.
She was a former school teacher, a homemaker and enjoyed gardening.
She was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church at McAfee.
Survivors include: her husband, Edwin Anderson, Salvisa; a son Phillip Beverly Anderson, Salvisa, one brother, Harry Reynolds, Louisville; four sisters, Edith Singleton, Stroh, IN, Margie Haddix, Vicco, Ruth Rama, New Port News, VA and Marlene Underwood, Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by a brother Charlie Reynolds and a sister Alberta Hensley.
Private services will be conducted Thursday October 16, 2003 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Tarry officiating.
Burial will be in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
There will be no public visitation.
ESTHER CLIFTON
Esther Jones Clifton, of Interlochen, MD, died August 1, 2003 in Montgomery General Hospital.
A native of Salvisa, she was a graduate of McAfee High School, was a secretary and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include; her husband, Robert Clifton, Interlochen, MD; three children, Michael and Mary, Charlotte, NC; Lynne and Nick, Silver Springs, MD, and Beth Bentolino, Potomac, MD; one brother, Raymond Jones, Harrodsburg; two sisters, Mary Elliot, Norfolk, VA and Beatrice Curd, Lexington; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were in Interlochen, August 6, and her ashes will be buried in Arlington Cemetery on November 14.
R. C. HENDREN
R. C. Hendren, 79, of Armory Hill, Springfield, formerly of Mackville, died Monday, October 13, 2003 at his residence.
Born April 10, 1924 in Washington County, he was a son of the late Ezra and Martha Sue “Suzie” Shewmaker Hendren.
He owned and operated Hendren’s Service Station in Mackville for many years and was the first fire chief of the Mackville Volunteer Fire Department.
He was also a member of the Hendren Family Gospel Singers and was a veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Mackville Christian Church where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include: his wife, Betty Young Hendren, Springfield; one son, Larry (Karen) Hendren, Freeport, FL; one stepdaughter, Glendora (Danny) Nelson, Shepherdsville; one brother, Bill Hendren, Lexington; three sisters, Mary Lillian Russell and Mrs. Madison (Willie Frances) Bottoms, both of Mackville, and Mrs. Raney (Betty Jane) Bottoms, Groveport, OH; one granddaughter, a great-grandson, and three step grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nina Shewmaker Hendren; one daughter, Donna Kay Hendren; a granddaughter, Michele Hendren; one brother, Ernest Hendren, and a sister, Helen Lester.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 15, at the Carey & Son Funeral Home in Mackville with Bro. Fred Whitacre officiating. Burial was in Peter Cemetery, Mackville.
Pallbearers were Everett Lee Russell, Glenn A. Arnold, Eddie Young, Ken Young, Doug Pinkston and Lowell Peavler. Honorary bearers were Harry Settles, Jeff Settles, Joe Logsdon, Donald Pinkston and Carl Gabhart.
BARBARA HINDERER
Barbara Hinderer, 60, of Cole Road, Lancaster, died Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
Born January 5, 1943 in Columbus, OH, she was the daughter of the late David L. and Gertrude Robertson McClary.
She was a former employee of Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill.
Survivors include: her husband, Jack Hinderer, Lancaster; two daughters, Traci Cole, Lancaster, and Deborah Sexton, New Castle, IN; two sons, Rick Hinderer, Wooster, OH and Randy Hinderer, Opelika, AL; one sister, Lovetta Bishop, Worthington, OH and four grandchildren.
The body will be cremated and no services are scheduled.

BURT ROWLAND
Charles Burton “Burt” Rowland, 90, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, October 12, 2003 at the North Collier Hospital in Naples, Florida.
Born November 14, 1912 in Nelson County, he was the son of the late John P. and Mary Humphrey Rowland. He was the widower of Martha Jane Betts Rowland.
He attended Asbury College, was an Army veteran of WWII, a member of the VFW and American Legion, and owned and operated Harrod Cleaners. He was a former president of the Harrodsburg Kiwanis Club, former president of the Mercer Chamber of Commerce, a former Harrodsburg City Commissioner and founded RV Cablevision of Harrodsburg.
He was a member of the Harrodsburg Methodist Church, and attended the Family of God Fellowship in Harrodsburg and the Community Congregational Church in Naples, Florida.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Carol) Conover, Harrodsburg and Mrs. Richard (Sara Kay) Bielecki, Boerne, Texas; one sister, Mary Lee Buster, Lexington; one brother, Russell Rowland, Parma, Ohio; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 20, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Bro. Michael Conover. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Nicholasville.
Visitation will be after 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 19, and after 7:30 a.m. Monday at the chapel.
Pallbearers will be Tom and Adam Bielecki, Pete, Scott, Spencer Conover, and Chad Richards. Honorary bearers will be Howard Howells, Dennis Lester, Frank Trisler, William "Billy" Parks, Lillie McKinney and Charlie Carr.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Asbury Scholarship Fund or to the Harrodsburg Methodist Church Building Fund.
ROYCE ROBERTSON
Royce Felton Robertson, 87, of Russell Springs, died Monday, October 6, 2003 in Somerset.
He was a retired US Air Force veteran, and a member of the Duo County Telephone board.
Survivors include his wife: Eva Rae Robertson, Russell Springs; three sisters, Hope Tarter, Liberty, Treva Foley and Geneva Reeves, both of Lexington; and one brother, O. D. Robertson, NM. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. L. W. "Freeda" Wilson, Harrodsburg.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 10, at the Bernard Funeral Chapel, Russell Springs. Burial was in the Mill Springs National Cemetery with military rites.
Memorials are suggested to the Russell County Animal Shelter.
MARY SATTERLY
Mary Elizabeth Green Satterly, 79, Norman’s Camp Road, died Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at her residence.
Born September 10, 1924 in Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Virgil A. and Grace Durbin Green. She was the widow of Marshall Satterly.
She was a retired employee of the Burgin Board of Education, a member of Shakertown Baptist Church where she had served as treasurer and Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Pioneer Homemakers and loved to cross stitch and enjoyed word find books.
Survivors include: five daughters: Betty (Bill) Dixon and Norma (Jackie) Hammons, both of Burgin, Ruby (Joe) Hurst, Harrodsburg, Lena (Doyle) Crenshaw, Lebanon, Dorothy Ann Stewart of San Diego, CA; one foster daughter: Patty (Delaine) Hardin, Harrodsburg; two sisters: Nona M. Elam of Lancaster and Marie (Charlie) Broaddus, Garrard County; one brother: Virgil A. J. (Martha) Green, Harrodsburg; 14 grandchildren and two foster grandchildren. 24 great-grandchildren, three foster great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 11, at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Smith officiating. Burial was in Burgin Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Milton Hammons, Scott Hammons, Brandon Hurst, Jeff Rogers, Tony Bailey and Lee Woods. Honorary bearers were Michael Day, David Chenault, Quentin Chenault, Travis Chenault, Clyde Major, Sonny Thompson, Lee Horner, Dudley Jenkins, and Glenn Peavler.

ALICE SHEPPERSON
Alice June Gibson Shepperson, 57, of 107 Carrigan Road, Elkins, AR, formerly of Harrodsburg died Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at her residence.
Born November 20, 1945 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late William Conrad and Alice Fuller Gibson.
She was a 1963 graduate of Harrodsburg High School and a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in elementary education. She had been an elementary school teacher at Elkins Elementary School in Elkins, AR, for 13 years, was a member of the Arkansas Reading Association, and a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Survivors include: two sons, Baxter Shepperson, Vista, CA and Billy Shepperson, Douglas, WY; two sisters, Martha Duff, Richmond and Ann Robbins, Conway, AR. She was preceded in death by a brother, John T. “Jack” Gibson.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 17, in Spring Hill Cemetery by Mary Black.
There will be no visitation.
