BOBBY BEASLEY

Mercer Man Dies From Heart Attack

Bobby G. Beasley, 60, of 886 Fallis Run Road apparently suffered a fatal heart attack prior to wrecking his vehicle at 5:12 p.m. Nov. 1 on Hwy. 33 in Mercer County.

Mercer County Coroner Sonny Ransdell said Beasley was wearing a seatbelt and had no significant injuries from the accident. Ransdell ruled the cause of death as a heart attack suffered prior to the accident. Beasley was transferred to the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital by the Mercer EMS and was pronounced dead at the hospital emergency room.

According to a report filed by Mercer County Deputy Sheriff Rick Moberly, Beasley drove off the right side of the roadway into a ditch, then ran into a fence and tree. There was severe damage to his vehicle and damage to the fence on the property of Harvey Duncan.

(Note: The above is from the police report. The body was cremated and there were no services nor obituary, at the request of the deceased. Gash Memorial Chapel, Lawrenceburg, handled the arrangements)

DANIELLE BRAMMER

Danielle Jean Brammer, daughter of Jason Brammer, Dayton, Ohio and Candice Baker, Harrodsburg, was stillborn, Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Survivors, in addition to her parents, include: paternal grandparents, Mike and Debbie Brammer, OH; and maternal grandparents, Conrad D. and Sherry J. Pope, Burgin and Robert Eugene Baker, Harrodsburg; paternal great-grandmother Wanda Brammer, OH.

Private graveside services were held Friday, November 14, at Spring Hill Cemetery.

Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

ORVILLE BYRD

Orville Preston Byrd, 47, of McCormick Road, Lawrenceburg, died Thursday, November 13, 2003 at his residence.

Born August 5, 1956 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Ralph and Laura Bell Gibbons Byrd.

He was a former janitorial foreman with the Kentucky Department of Finance, and a member of the Golden Pathway Fellowship.

Survivors include: five sisters, Margaret Gay, Nancy Maddox, Ida Matherly, Peggy Byrd, all of Lawrenceburg, and Virginia Lear, Danville; three brothers, Ben Byrd and Dean Byrd, both of Lawrenceburg, and Chester Byrd of Frankfort. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jennie Byrd Gregory.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 15, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Donald Lear and Bro, Joe Gay officiating. Burial was in the Wynn Cemetery, Rockcastle County.

JESSIE CARTER

Jessie Lee Carter, 84, Mercy House in Garrard County, died Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at Mercy House.

Born March 9, 1919 in Harrodsburg he was the son of the late William and Nannie Sallee Carter.

He was an army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific.

Arrangements are incomplete at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

JENNIFER BURO
Gayle Willis Cox, 56, Robert Shaw Cox, 56, and their daughter Jennifer Gayle Buro, 32, died together in an auto accident on November 8, 2003.

Gayle was predeceased by her mother Jane Gayle French nee Coyle and survived by her father John L. French and step-grandmother Gladys Coyle. Jennifer leaves behind her loving husband Gary. Gayle was a teacher for many years at Margate Middle School, Margate, FL and more recently served as a curriculum specialist at Lyons Creek Middle School. Gayle's mother Jane Gayle French was born in Perryville, KY. Jane's father, Arthur B. Coyle and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Walker were prominent citizens of the Harrodsburg/Perryville area.

Robert had his accounting practice R. S. Cox and Company for over 30 years.

Jennifer was the proprietor of the Outback Steakhouse in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Westminster Academy In 1988 and then Florida Atlantic University before moving to NY in 1999.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated November 14, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church, North Lauderdale, FL. Interment followed at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

ROSE DEAN

Rose Louise Yocum Dean, 79, Harrodsburg Health Care Center, died Friday, November 14, 2003 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born November 12, 1924 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Benny Martin and Solonia Bell Yocum. She was the widow of Carroll Price Dean.

She was a retired homemaker, member of the Mercer County Senior Citizens and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one daughter, Carolyn (Allen Wayne) Monroe, Harrodsburg; and one grandchild, Cody Allen Monroe, Harrodsburg. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elijah Worley Yocum, John Thomas Yocum; and two sisters, Gladys Riley and Mary Peavler.

Funeral services were held Sunday, November 16, at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Dr. Robert DeFoor and Bro. Jerel Coffey. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Marshall Thompson, Walter Monroe, Jr., Charles "Chuck" McQuilliam, James "Jimmy" Sexton, Allan B. Yates, and Donald Sexton. Honorary bearers were Charlie Monroe, Morris Yocum, Marvin Yocum, Elijah B. Yates, Larry Camic, Dr. Charles Hatcher, and Dr. John S. Baughman.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mercer County Senior Citizens.

Logan Hunter Howard and Weston Chase Howard, infant twin sons of Jimmy Troy and Shawna Harlow Howard, died Monday, November 3, 2003 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

Survivors, in addition to their parents, include: paternal grandparents, Jimmy and Gayle Howard; maternal grandparents, Stan and Linda Riney, all of Mercer County, and Ralph Harlow, Jr. of Berea; maternal great-grandmother Alma Bottoms; and paternal great-grandparents, Ralph and Lettie Harlow, Sr., all of Harrodsburg.

Graveside services were held Friday, November 7, at the Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Lester Tirey officiating,

ROBERT LEONARD

Robert C. "Bobby" Leonard, age 76, 1175 Highway 127 North, Stanford, died Friday, November 14, 2003 at the Veterans Affairs Department of Medical Care - Cooper Drive Division in Lexington.

Born February 13, 1927 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Carl Leonard, Sr. and Bess Opal Demaree Leonard. He was the widower of Delores Raiza Leonard

He was a retired L & M Tobacco Company buyer and a farmer, a U.S. Navy veteran of Word War II, member of the Masonic Lodge, the Oleika Shrine Temple, and a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church.

Survivors include: one son, Sleet Leonard, Danville; three daughters, Gayle Miller, Brandon, Mississippi, Carla and Cecilia Leonard, both of Harrodsburg; one brother, Carl Leonard, Jr., Harrodsburg; five grandchildren, Beth Spivey, John Miller, III, Taylor Leonard, Holly Leonard, and Kyle Leonard.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 17, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Rev. Don Chase. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were John Allen, John D. Brown, Jack Leonard, John Miller, Jr., Pete Prewitt, Bill Shewmaker, Morris Allen Stewart, and Donnie Tyler. Honorary bearers were John Miller, III, Forrest Bradshaw, Milton Catlett, Hunter Durr, Phillip Durr, G. G. Harmon, Billy Horn, Buster Young, Clyde Sinkhorn, Bob Tamme, Jess Tamme, Taylor and Kyle Leonard.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Harrodsburg Christian Church, or the Thompson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.

LINNIE MERRIMAN

Linnie Millard Merriman, 84, 848 Pleasant Hill Drive, died Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born October 23, 1919 in Perry County, she was the daughter the late Thomas Claude and Nancy Belle Stacy Millard. She was the widow of Wesley Merriman.

She was a retired registered nurse who graduated from the Nazareth School of Nursing in 1941 and was a former employee of Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.

Survivors include: one sister, Darcie Millard, Danville; and several nieces.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 14, at St. Andrew Catholic Church by Father Joe Muench. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Joe Sanders, Pat Lear, Doc McKinney, Bobby Reister, Ron Bradford, Bob Williams, Dr. Daniel Moran, and Jerry Thacker.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Andrew Catholic Church Building Fund.

Ransdell Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

STEVEN SEEBERGER

Steven George Seeber-ger, 55, of 1021 Putter Point, Lawrenceburg, died Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at his residence.

Born December 22, 1947 in Los Angeles, CA, he was the son of Nancye Kirch Seeberger of Lexington, and the late Charles M. Seeberger.

He was a graduate of Lexington Catholic High School and received his BS degree in Education, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Kentucky. He was a US Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam War.

He worked as a Lexington firefighter and was an employee of Kraft Foods.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: his wife, Donna Semones Seeberger, Lawrencebureg; one daughter, Nancye Jane (Greg) Taylor, Taylorsville; one son, Steven Ray (Jessica) Seeberger, Lawrenceburg; one sister Lynn Bales of Harrodsburg; one brother Kirk (Sandee) Seeberger, Lexington; mother and father-in-law, John W. and Marguerite Semones, Versailles; one brother-in-law John W. (Kathy) Semones II, Florence: and two grandsons.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 17, at the Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Wayne Sparks officiating. Burial with military honors was at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County.

Pallbearers were Tim and Blake Seeberger, Spence and Lance Churchill, Van Cao, and Bob Works. Honorary bearers were Bill and Kelli Semones.

Memorials are suggested to the Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1286 Briar Ridge Road, Taylorsville, KY 40471, The New Horizon Church, 144 E. Erskine, Danville, KY 40422, or to any Disabled Veterans organization

STELLA SIMPSON

Stella Ann Simpson, 58, Cloverdale Drive, died Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

Born Sept. 13, 1945, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late William E. West and Dorothy Harrison West.

She was a former Mercer Dress Company employee and a sitter for the elderly.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Jay Simpson; Harrodsburg; her stepfather, James E. Reed, Burgin; three sons, Darrell E. (Linda) Followell, Burgin, William S. Followell, Perryville, and Travis L. Simpson, Harrodsburg; two brothers, J. W. (Ova) West, of Nancy, and Howard (Doris) West, Burgin; two half sisters, Maxine (Kenny) Wilson and Darlene (Wayne) Lister, both of Danville; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, November 16, at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Jack Guerin officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jeff West, Steven Reed, Les and Wes Simpson, and Terry and Jamie Holt.

JESSIE CARTER

Jessie Lee Carter, 84, of Mercy House, Garrard County, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday November 19, 2003 in Garrard County.

Born March 9, 1919, he was the son of the late William G. and Nannie Lee Sallee Carter.

He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army in the Pacific.

He is survived by his friends at Mercy House.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, November 26, at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County with B. J. Taylor officiating.
