William Russell Florence, 89, of 1175 Lehman Road, Chambersburg, PA, formerly of Paris and Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000.
Born January 7, 1911 in North Middletown, he was the son of the late William Elvey and Eva Lena Ritchie Florence. He was the widower of Della Ruth Thomas Florence.
He was a retired salesman and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: a daughter, Jennie Joe (Harry) Champion, Chambersburg, PA; one brother, James F. Florence, Paris; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two granddaughters.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 1, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home in Paris, with Rev. Don Reed officiating. Burial was in the Paris Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons; Mitch Champion, John Champion, Bill Champion, Joe Champion, Chad Champion and Matthew Champion.
CHARLOTTE DRISKELL
Charlotte Moore Driskell, 58, of 325 Tewmey Lane, died Saturday, April 1, 2000 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born December 12, 1941 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of J. C. and Doris Sims and Anne Whitenack Sims, all of Harrodsburg.
She was a retired teacher for the Mercer County School System, having worked 29 years. She was a graduate of Mercer County High School and the University of Kentucky. She was a member of New Comers Homemakers, The Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, Mercer County Home Extension Service, and the New Providence Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder and secretary.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include: her husband, Gilbert "Sonny" Driskell, Mercer County; one son, Brian Driskell, Nicholasville; one sister, Carolyn Ann (Johnny) Thornton, Mercer County; special friends, Nell Gill, Carolyn Royalty, and Anita Bruce; one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 4, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Jon Jones and David Hartman officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Delmar O'dell, Reid Hendren, Charles Anderson, Joe Gill, Marlin Followell, Eddie Lay and Allen Pickett. Honorary bearers were the New Comers Homemakers and Pioneer Saddle Club members.

RENA HILLIARD
Rena Best Hilliard, 87, of 485 W. Walnut Street, Danville, died Monday, April 3, 2000 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born July 31, 1912 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late John Allen and Ruth Powell Best. She was the widow of L. M. Hilliard.
She had been a sales person for Perryville Furniture Mart and was a member of the Perryville Methodist church where she was a Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include: two sons, Douglas (Frances) Edwards, Danville, and Melvin Edwards, Versailles; one daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Janet) Pierce, Danville; one sister, Mrs. Garnett (Violet) Gibson, Perryville; six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; four step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. Two children preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 6, in Bellevue Cemetery, Danville with Rev. Jimmy Owens officiating. There will be no visitation.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Edwards, Damon Edwards, John Terry, Mark Edwards, Joe Edwards and Jacob Edwards.

MILDRED JOHNSON
Mildred Jane Johnson, 74, of Lebanon Road, Parksville, died Sunday, April 2, 2000 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born January 1, 1926 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late William and Mabel Floyd Goens. She was the widow of Lonnie Johnson.
She was retired from Jackson Chair and was a member of the Parksville Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Gary B. Johnson, Danville, and Ronald E. Johnson, Rockwood, TN; one brother, Louis Goens, Lancaster; two sisters, Ruby Preston, Danville, and Josephine Brummett, Casey County; four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandchild.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 5, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Bill Boldt officiating. Burial was in Parksville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Parksville Baptist Church.
DUSTIN WORTHINGTON
Dustin Dale Worthington, 17, of 837 Clay Avenue, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born September 23, 1982 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Dennis Dale and Dena Ruth Holderman Worthington.
He was a farmer and cattleman and was a member of the Alum Springs First Church of God.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include: two sisters, Deidre and Devon Worthington, both of Harrodsburg; maternal grandparents, Charles and Juanita Holderman, both of Harrodsburg; paternal grandparents, Bobby and Jessie Worthington, both of Boyle County.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 7, at the Mercer County High School with David Watson, Sam Stow, Gary Powell and Don Drake officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jon Humphrey, Nick Humphrey, Chad Holderman, Todd Barlow, Brian Settles, Anthony McCowan, Derrick Leigh and Donnie Tyler. Honorary bearers were Chris, Kevin and Rafe Holderman, Clay Wilson, Larry Cox, Travis Peyton, Michael Jenkins, Kendall Ross, Willie Baker, Brandon Lane, Jason Sanford, Darrell Padget and Zack Shewmaker.

Arthur L. Sanders Jr., 80, of 557 Cornishville Rd., died Wednesday, April 5, 2000 at his residence.
Born January 26, 1929 in Los Almas, CO, he was the son of the late Arthur P. and Hattie Lewis Sanders.
He was a retired press operator for Corning Glass Works and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Onita Sallee Sanders, Harrodsburg; one son, Terry Mitchell Sanders, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Wanda J. Smith, Harrodsburg, and Mrs. James R. (Patricia Ann) Barnett, Prattville, AL; one brother, Thomas Wilson Sanders, CA; three sisters, Hannah Hume, Charlotte Smith, and Mary Goodlett, all of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 8, 2000 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with James Harley officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

DALE GOODPASTER
Kenny Dale Goodpaster, 16, of 1778 Talmage-Mayo Road, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born February 24, 1984 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Kenny Goodpaster and Tina Ransdell Murphy, both of Mercer County.
He was a 10th grade student at Mercer County High School and was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church and the Mercer County FFA.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include: his stepfather, Brian Murphy, Mercer County; one sister, Shannon Goodpaster, Mercer County; one brother, Jordan Goodpaster, Mercer County; one step sister, Brooke Murphy, Mercer County; one step brother, Bradley Murphy; maternal grandparents, Curtis Ransdell and Anita Ransdell, both of Mercer County; paternal grandparents, Clarence Goodpaster and Doris Goodpaster, both of Mercer County; one great grandmother, Martha Robinson, Lawrenceburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, Austin Goodpaster.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 7, at the Mercer County High School with Barry Jeffries, Barry Harmon and Randy McPheron officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Darren Ransdell, David Curtis Ransdell, Josh Hazelwood, Greg Hume, Scott Grider, Clayton King, Clay Wilson, Chris Horn and Chris Goodlett and Aaron Burke. Honorary bearers were members of the Mercer County FFA.

ROBERT DAVENPORT
Robert Patterson Davenport, 80, of 339 Davenport Lane, husband of the late Mary Lena Satterly Davenport, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born November 6, 1919 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Fred and Sarah Patterson Davenport.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Michael Lynn Davenport, Lexington; two daughters, Sharon Dale Davenport and Mrs. David (Robin) Beams, both of Mercer County; one brother, Roy Davenport, New Albany, IN; one sister, Mrs. Charles (Lucille) "Coffee" Hurst, Harrodsburg; two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Davenport Preston.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 8, at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Bro. Richard Easterling officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ronald Hurst, Glenn Hurst, Ronnie Wells, Joe Satterly, Tommy Preston and Robert Franklin Davenport.

MARVIN SPARKS
Marvin Sparks, 41, of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Born June 14, 1958 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Mrs. Alice Dean Sparks, and the late Edward Allen Sparks, Sr.
He was a former employee of Florida Tile in Lawrenceburg.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: two brothers, Ronald Thomas Sparks, Millington, TN, and Connie Sparks, Lawrenceburg; four sisters, Barbara Turpin, Edna Lister, Elizabeth Sparks and Joyce Scull, all of Harrodsburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Sparks, Jr.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 8, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Buddy Turpin officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike Scull, Chuck McKinney, John Million, Donnie Hampton, Larry Lyons, and Ronnie Thornton.
JENNIE BARTLESON
Jennie VanArsdall Smith Bartleson, 71, of 456 West Broadway, wife of Truman Bartleson Sr. for 52 years, died Friday, April 7,2000 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born September 20, 1928 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late John Wiley Smith Sr. and Laura Jones Smith.
She was a graduate of West Side High School, where she was valedictorian of her class of 1946. She was a former press operator at Cricketeer Manufacturing Company, an avid Harrodsburg High School sports fan and an active member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors, besides her husband, include: three sons, Truman Bartleson Jr., Randall L. Bartleson, both of Harrodsburg; George Bartleson, Los Angeles, CA; two daughters, Rena and Sharon Bartleson, both of Harrodsburg; one brother, John Wiley Smith Jr., Lawrenceburg; 10 grandchildren, one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Ernest Calvin Bartleson, and a sister Christine Smith Bradshaw.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 10, at the Centennial Baptist Church with Rev. Robert J. Gentry officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry Jones, James Dunn, Greg Bowman, Steve Smith, Cecil Smith, Robert Bean Jr., Leon VanDyke Jr., Joey Jones and Phillip VanDyke. Honorary bearers were Alert Taylor, David Taylor, James Williams, Jim Mosley, Michael VanDyke, Alonzo Bottoms, Fred Bottoms and Davis Burrus.
