RACHEL COLLIER

Rachel Collier, 78, widow of William T. Collier, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born July 24, 1926 in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late George Willie and Annie B. Carr Baker.

She was an employee of Hallmack and a former waitress. She was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, travel and loved animals.

Survivors include: one son, David (Patty) Collier, and one daughter, Sandy (Lonnie) Sanders, both of Harrodsburg; two brothers, Ronald “Frog” Baker and Fonnie Baker, both of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Barbara Greene of Anderson County and Freida Settles of Harrodsburg; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews and a special friend and roommate, Russie Kendrick.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Vina Boyd; two sisters, Helen Simpson and Gertrude Baker; four brothers, Maurice, John, Bobby and Cleo Baker, and one great-grandchild.

The funeral will be today, Thursday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. David Collier officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Charlie, Art and Harold Baker, Todd Boyd, Blake Norton and Gary Griffieth.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 until 9 p.m. and Thursday after 7 a.m. at the funeral home.

JAMES HOSKINS

James Hampton Hoskins, 50, Logue Rd., husband of Terresa Renner Hoskins, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

Born Nov. 6, 1953 in Madison County, he was a son of Anna Frances Long Hoskins and the late Harlan Hoskins.

He was a carpenter. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: three sons, James Allen Hoskins, Tommy Dale Hoskins and Jared Logan Hoskins, all of Harrodsburg; five brothers, Darrel Wayne Hoskins of Mt. Vernon, Gary (Karla) Hoskins of Colorado Springs, CO, Harlan E. (Patricia) Hoskins of Richmond, and David Glenn Hoskins and Roy Lee Hoskins, both of Berea; three sisters, Charlotte (Randy) Kemper and Donna Mae (Johney) Carpenter, both of Richmond, and Laura Ann Biggs of Mt. Vernon; one grandmother, Jennie Long Kingsolver of Richmond; three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was conducted Tuesday, Sept. 7 at the Combs, Parsons and Collins Funeral Home in Richmond with Rev. Butch Pennington officiating. Burial was in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Gary Johnson, Glenn Thomas, Tom Moore, John Belfeild, Larry Roberts and James Bond.

DOROTHY MORRIS

Dorothy Morris, 82, Perryville St., widow of Samuel Whaley Morris, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004 at the Heritage Hall Health Care Center in Lawrenceburg.

Born Jan. 2, 1922 in Millersburg, she was a daughter of the late Homer Anvil Garrison and Etta Mae Morgan Garrison.

She was a retired school teacher for the Harrodsburg Independent School District, a Charter member of the BPW Club, a member of the New Comers Homemakers Club, a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, a member of N.E.A., K.E.A., and H.E.A. and a former UK staff member. She was the first teacher to teach special education in the Harrodsburg School System. She was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church where she was a member of the Goodwill Sunday School class.

Survivors include: one son, Sam W. Morris of Lawrenceburg; one daughter, Lou Etta M. Hicks of St. Petersburg, FL; one sister, Margie Frances Brown of Campton, and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ellis Garrison Morris and one sister, Mildred Garrison.

The funeral will be today, Thursday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bro. Chuck Brimley and Dr. Don Chase officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Larry Gene and Sammy Morgan Brown, James Ansil, Everett Reynolds and Greg Collins Garrison, William Brooks Morris and Calvin Lee Wiley.

Visitation will be Wednesday after 5 p.m. and Thursday after 7:30 a.m. at the funeral chapel.

MIKE PATTERSON

Mike Patterson, 45, husband of Stephanie McGrath Patterson, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004 in Harrodsburg.

Born Jan. 5, 1959 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Glennon Lee Patterson and Albertine Robinson Hayslett.

He was a former factory worker. He was a Baptist. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, NASCAR, movies and dogs.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: two daughters, Erica Nicole “Nikki” Patterson and Tara Faye Patterson, both of Harrodsburg; two stepsons, Tre Devin McGrath of Harrodsburg and Randy E. Darland of Danville; one sister, Abby Yeast of Harrodsburg; two grandchildren, Kelsey Brooke Harris and Kya Jade Harris; his paternal grandmother, Beatrice Hourigan of Harrodsburg, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral was held Wednesday, Sept. 8 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Donald Litteral officiating. Burial was in the Burgin Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Matthew and John McGrath, Shawn Parker, Randy Darland, Doug Robinson and Keith Pinkston.

JANICE STIGALL

Janice Ann Stigall, 61, Harrods Trace, widow of Major Arthur Stigall, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

Born Sept. 9, 1942 in Harrodsburg, she was a daughter of Geneva VanDyke Penman of Harrodsburg and the late Ernest J. Doneghy.

She attended West Side High School and Harrodsburg High School. She was employed by Hallmack Inc, for several years. She was a private sitter for the elderly. She was a member of the Centennial Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Anthony Duwayne (Charlene) Buster and Mark Antonio (Cindy) Stigall, both of Harrodsburg; five daughters, Angela Marie (Walter) Smith of Danville, Vickie Lynette (John) Thompson and Jacqueline Darlene Stigall, both of Lexington, Robin (Jeff) Stigall and Jo Ann Stigall, both of Harrodsburg; three brothers, James Thomas Douglas Wheat of Syracuse, NY, William Henry Warren of Danville and Doc Warren of Harrodsburg; one step-brother, Jeff Burnside of Danville; one sister, Martha Buster of Harrodsburg, 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Bonnie Sue Travers and one great-grandchild.

The funeral will be today, Thursday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Centennial Baptist Church with Elder J.D. Short, III and Bro. Dale Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gary and Mariqus Brown, Deshawn and Ahntoan Warren, Montez Coles and Mario Buster.

Honorary bearers will be Walter Smith, John Thompson, Orlando Hicks, Jeff Whitley, Robert Coles, Jr. and Steven Buster.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements are being handled by the Parks Funeral Home.

BOBBY STRATTON

Bobby Lewis Stratton, 62, 1593 Cummins Ferry Rd., Salvisa, husband of Beverly Jane Dean Stratton, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004 at his home.

Born Jan. 4, 1942 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Willie Preston and Eva Currens Stratton.

He was a farmer. He was a member of the Mayo Rook Club. He was a member of the Ebenezer Church of Christ.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: two daughters, Timi Bell and Angie Patton, both of Mercer County; six sisters, Mae Robinson Redman and Frances Ellis, both of of Denham Springs, LA, Rebecca Clem of Salvisa, Kathleen Bowen of Harrodsburg, Lavenia Brammer, Danville, and Jeanette Sullivan of Monroe, GA; three brothers, Arnett Stratton of Lexington, Lyle Stratton of Bowling Green, and Sherman Stratton of Powder Springs, GA; three grandsons, and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Gertrude Hill and one brother, William Kenneth Stratton.

The funeral was held Tuesday, Sept. 7 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with John Kesel and Terry Morrison officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Church Cemetery in Salvisa.

Pallbearers were Will, Ashley, Cody, Craig and Ken Stratton, Jeff Wayne, Wayne Bowen, Randy Orwig, Clark Sullivan and Greg Redman.

Honorary bearers were members of the Mayo Rook Club.

FATIMA WATSON

Fatima Jane Watson, 98, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004 at the Darby Square Nursing Home in Lexington.

Born Oct. 11, 1905 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Scott and Mary Frances Roberts Sallee.

She was a retired billing clerk for the Parts Distributing Co. in Lexington. She was a member of the Ebenezer Church of Christ.

Survivors include: one son, Gene Watson of Baltimore, MD; three daughters, Carol Garcher of Livonia, MI, Jane Anderson of Logan Port, IN and Linda Wingate of Lexington; 14 grandchildren, and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Friday, Sept. 10 at 11:30 a.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bro. John Kesel officiating. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Church Cemetery in Salvisa.

Pallbearers will be Neil Douglas, Stephen Garcher, Leonard and Susan Minor and Michael and Jennifer Hamilton.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. and Friday after 7:30 a.m. at the chapel.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Dr., Lexington, KY 40504-3277.

HUBERT WINCHESTER

Hubert Winchester, 99, Runyon Road, formerly of Buena Vista, widower of Eva Burton Winchester, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004 at his residence.

Born April 1, 1905 in Wayne County, he was the son of the late John William Winchester and Martha Jane McGowan Winchester.

He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one daughter, Ina Marie (Earl) Sherrow of Harrodsburg; one son, Irvin (Peggy) Winchester of Nicholasville; one sister, Ruth Gadberry of Russell Springs; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Willard E. and Leonard Winchester.

The funeral will be today, Thursday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Ramsey Funeral Home in Lancaster with Rev. Dallas Burton officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Steven, Gary Lee and Jerry Lee Winchester, Chad Lane, Rick Campbell, Myron Ellis and Jeremy Catlett.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
