Rupert “Jack” Roney, 93, Perryville, widower of Evelyn Dean Roney, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 at his residence.
Born Aug. 19, 1911 in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Charlie and Anna Belle Hudson Roney.
He was a retired self-employed farmer and a member of Perryville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: three sons, Jackie Roney of Somerset, Bobby Roney of Perryville and Godbey Dean Roney of Washington County; one daughter, Annelle Collier of Harrodsburg; one sister, Nettie Wilson of Lexington; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be today, Thursday, Sept. 23 at Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Perryville.
Pallbearers will be Mark, Darin, Robbie, Perry and Terry Roney, Steve Moss and Terry Young.
Honorary pallbearers will be The Live Wire Sunday School class.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

ROSE SHOUSE
Rose Edgar Shouse, 94, Avenstoke Rd., Lawrenceburg, widow of Roy Willis Shouse, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004 at Bradford Square Nursing Home in Frankfort.
Born Feb. 25, 1910 in Jefferson County, she was the daughter of the late John William and Angela Mathis Edgar.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Lawrenceburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Charles C. (June) Shouse of Salvisa; four daughters, Dorcas of BeaversofNew Salisbury, IN, Mary (Ollie Frank) Peyton, Nellie (Charles Jr.) Woods and Virginia (Harold) Carter, all of Lawrenceburg; one daughter-in-law, Roxie Shouse of Louisville; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ralph Gilbert Shouse; twin grandsons, Rory and Cory Woods; two sisters, Martha Bond and Ella Haden, and three brothers, John, Paul, and Dan Edgar.
The funeral was held Monday, Sept. 20 at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jeff Eaton and Bro. Randy Peyton officiating. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Marty and Kevin Carter, Brandon Woods, Gavin and Randy Peyton and James Richard Ginn.
Honorary pallbearers were Paul and Liffy Hanks, Shirley Hoskins, Rosalee and Garvis Hutton, Ray and Kay Perry, Bobby and Janie Lacefield, Linda Baxter and P. L. Devers.
WILLIAM KAYS
William Franklin Kays, 66, formerly of Harrodsburg, husband of Carol Chrisman Kays, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at the Veterans Hospital in Lexington after a long illness.
Born March 14, 1938 in Washington County, he was the son of Elizabeth Van Kays and the late Cecil M. Kays.
He was retired from Eastern State Hospital and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Methodist church in Nicholasville.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Dawn Kays of Biloxi, MS; two sisters, Carol (Ed) Ledford of Winchester and Joy (Chester) Travillian of Harrodsburg; one granddaughter; one niece; three nephews; five great-nieces and two great-nephews.
Graveside services including military rites were conducted Wednesday, Sept. 29 at Camp Nelson with Betts and West Funeral Home of Nicholasville officiating.

ELIZABETH SEPTER
Elizabeth “Betty” Avice Byrnside Septer, 65, Levittown, PA and formerly of Springfield, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 at the Crestview Center in Langhorne, PA.
Born in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Esther Christman Byrnside and Minor Byrnside of Springfield.
She received a master’s degree in education and taught 10th and 11th grade English and social studies in the Hightstown High School, Hightstown, NJ for 29 years. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers organization in which she had served as president. She was an active member of the Emilie United Methodist Church in Levittown, PA and the United Methodist Church in Springfield where she also kept residence.
Survivors include: two sons, 1st Sergeant Gregory (Elena) Septer of Hamilton, NJ and Sergeant Michael (Pamela) Septer of Langhorne, PA, and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be private with burial taking place in Lebanon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for future scholarship recipients may be made in the name of Elizabeth Septer to the Hightstown High School, 25 Leshin Lane, Hightstown, NJ 08520.
WESLEY SIMS
Wesley H. Sims, 84, Stanford, husband of Vivian Hester Sims, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004 at his residence.
Born May 25, 1920 in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Garland and Letha Poulter Sims.
He was employed as the office manager at Kentucky Utilities in Lexington for over 30 years. He was a member of Stanford Baptist Church, a 50 year member and past master of the Gideons and Masons, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of several local civic organizations and was a WWII Air Force veteran.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: three sons, H. Gerald (Kakie) Hester of Lexington and Jon (Judy) Hester and Jim (Judy) Hester, both of Stanford; one foster son, Jeff King; one daughter, Terry Sims Campbell of Shelbyville; two sisters, Georgia Hoover and Anne L. Manning, both of Harrodsburg; one sister-in-law, Patsy Sims of Burgin; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Duncan Sims and one brother, Berry Sims.
The funeral was conducted Wednesday, Sept. 29 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel in Stanford with Rev. Max Hester officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers were grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers were members of his Sunday School class.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Hospice of Danville or to Gideons International.
NANNIE WHITE
Nannie Estridge White, 94, of Erlanger, formerly of Stanford, died Saturday, September 25, 2004.
Born Oct. 22, 1909, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late James M. and Laura Watkins Estridge. She was the widow of John C. White.
She was a retired teacher, having taught 27 years in one-room schools in Preachersville and Walnut Flats, in Crab Orchard and in Lynch for U.S. Steel Co. Se was a member of Florence Christian Church.
Survivors include: a daughter, Nancy White Wills of Florence; a brother, Dr. Ernest G. Estridge of Harrodsburg; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 28, at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Rev. Brad Curry. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jessie Bowling, Ronnie Gilbert, Jim Estridge, Art Freeman, John White, Roger Meek and Tom Blankenship.
Honorary pallbearers were Homer Hoskins, Bill Norman, Charles Hackley, Jimmy Howard and Paul Playforth.
Memorials may go to Stanford Christian Church and Lincoln County Educational Fund.

SUSAN YOUNG
Susan Young, 57, West Mill St., Burgin, widow of J. B. Young II, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville after an illness.
Born Aug. 31, 1947 in Saline, MI she was the daughter James Henry and Hazel DeFeet Helm of Burgin.
She was an accountant for Robinson, Hughes, and Christopher CPA’s in Danville for 20 years, was on the Central Kentucky Christian School Board, was a member of the Village Homemakers Club, the Wilderness Trace Quilt Guild, and of the Beech Grove Baptist Church in Springfield.
Survivors include: two sons, J. B. Young III of Burgin and Clint (Sherry) Young of Harrodsburg; three brothers, James Henry Helm Jr. of Richmond, John Robert Helm of Harrodsburg and Roger Dean Helm of Lexington; two grandchildren; six nephews; two nieces, and two great-nieces.
The funeral will be today, Thursday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bobby Estes, John Watts and Daniel Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Perryville.
Pallbearers will be J. H. Helm Jr. and John R. and Roger D. Helm, Billy Joe and Justin Young and Chad Hardin.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. and Thursday after 7:30 a.m. at the chapel.
