Ina Christine Newby Bonta, 87, Louisville, formerly of Danville, widow of James Henry Bonta, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004.
Born Aug. 30, 1917 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Clinton and Bessie Nichols Newby.
She graduated from Danville High School in 1934. She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include: two daughters, Martha Kinzel of Louisville and Sue Demaras of Marathon, FL; three sons, Henry Bonta of Louisville and Roy Bonta and Ray Bonta, both of Danville; one brother, Burton C. Newby of Sand Point, ID; 15 grandchildren and 25 great- grandchildren.
The funeral was held Monday, Oct. 11 at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery.
EVELYN BUGG
Evelyn Moss Bugg, 75, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004 at the Richmond Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Nov. 7, 1928 in Jackson County, GA she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Carter and Helen McMurry Moss.
She was a former James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital and Hallmack employee, a member of Harrodsburg Christian Church and a former Women’s Club member. She enjoyed playing bridge, making candy and walking.
Survivors include: four sons, Jason Allen Bugg and Edward Lynn Bugg, both of Lexington, David Thomas Bugg of Hopkinsville and Everett Lawrence Bugg of Richmond; one daughter, Brenda Elkins of New Albany, IN; three sisters, June Lovelace of Orlando, FL, Linda Rabe of Dallas, TX and Marjorie Davenport of Flemingsburg, and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services will be today, Thursday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. at the Spring Hill Cemetery with Rev. Don Chase officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are being handled by Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.
JOHN CUMMINS
John Cummins, 83, Wildwood, FL and formerly of Harrodsburg, widower of Elizabeth Sallee Cummins, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center in Florida.
Born May 25, 1921 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Lykers and Rilda Board Cummins.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, a retired farmer and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three sons, Jerry Lee Cummins and John Victor Cummins, both of Wildwood, FL and Terry Clemmer of Vancouver, WA; one sister, Nancy Carter of St. Petersburg, FL; three nieces; two grandsons, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Phisator.
The funeral was held Friday, Oct. 8 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Arnold officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
ROGER GREEN
Roger Barnette Green, 73, Lawrenceburg, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
Born Dec. 30, 1930 in Mercer County, he was a son of the late James Richard and Myrtle Elliott Green.
He was a retired security guard with the Kentucky State Police, a member of the Lawrenceburg First Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include: one brother, Richard Green of Mercer County; five nieces, Brenda Jones of Shelbyville, Doris Bryant and Betty Lane Slusher, both of Lawrenceburg, Lavon Crutchfield of Harrodsburg and Roxie Rogers of Lexington; three nephews, Bill Lane of Lexington, James Richard Green and Arthur James Green, both of Mercer County, and a good friend, Howard Carpenter (Trish) of Lawrenceburg.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur James Green and two sisters, Beulah Green Lane and Ruby Green Robinson.
The funeral was Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Bro. Bud Gritton and Bro. Paul Barrick officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

LILLIAN ISHAM
Lillian Mae Isham, 88, 495 James Ln., widow of Marvin B. Isham, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at her residence.
Born Jan. 1, 1916 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Nancy Susan Crain Bugg.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: one sister, Nancy Curtsinger of Harrodsburg, six grandchildren, Chuck Robinson, Patty Goodlett, Vickie Johnson, Tonya Horn, Bubby Isham and Karen Hawkins; 11 great- grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Buddy Isham; one daughter, Jackie Robinson; one great-grandson, Jim Bob Horn; and three sisters, Vernoncie Cummins, Hazel Cochran and Mable Britton.
The funeral was held Tuesday, Oct. 12 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Reverends Chuck Robinson, Cleo Goodlett and Harold Best officiating. Burial was in the Mt Pleasant Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Black, George Buchanan, Josh and Eddie Horn, Bubby and Arthur B. Isham, Keith Britton and Carl Watts.
Honorary pallbearers were Nick Moss, Lafon Darland, Hunter Hawkins and Derrick and Patrick Jones.

MARIE JOHNSON
Marie Buck Johnson, 86, Kennedy Bridge Road, wife of M. F. Johnson Jr., died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 25, 1918 in Wilmore, she was the daughter of the late John and Hannah Alexander Buck.
She was a farmer and a member of the Burgin Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: one daughter, Margaret J. (Sam) Edwards and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Wednesday, Oct. 13 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Harvey Britton and Bob Williams officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jim Belcher, Peanut Riney, Eddie and Darrell Russell, Thurman Hardin, David Baker, Wayne Carmickle, Allen Monroe, Delbert Hamner and Clay Adams.
JEANNE JONES
Jean Powell Jones, 78, Polk St., Perryville, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born March 27, 1926 in Perryville, she was the daughter of the late Henry R. and Ethyle W. Powell.
She accepted a Nashville Arts School scholarship at 18. She later attended the University of Kentucky and was a sorority member. She became one of the first participants in the use of taped radio and did live broadcasts. She was employed by the Kentucky Department of Information, the Kentucky Census Bureau and Holiday Inn. In association with the late historian Col. George Chinn, she provided factual research for the 1975 publication “The Settlement and Statehood of Kentucky.” She belonged to the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, the Kentucky Historical Society and the Woman’s Club of Louisville. She was the former wife of the late U.S. District Attorney for Western Kentucky and senior Department of Justice trial attorney, William Beaty Jones of Glasgow. She was a member of Perryville First Christian Church. She was an avid crafts and folklore enthusiast and traveled extensively.
Survivors include: one daughter, Jana Susan Jones of Perryville; one son, William Powell Jones of Alexandria, VA; one brother, Stuart (JoAnn) Powell of Danville; one sister-in-law, Martha (Donald) Rutledge of Glasgow; one grandson; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. at Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Perryville.
Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 14 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
DONALD McRAY
Donald Wayne McRay, 77, Lake City, FL, formerly of Circleville, OH, husband of Helen McRay, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2004 at the Lake City Medical Center following a sudden illness.
He was born in McAfee.
He was the founder and owner of Don McRay Builders in Lake City until his retirement in 1989 and was a driver for Sunbelt Chrysler in Lake City. He attended Westside Baptist Chapel and loved gardening and farming.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Donna (Hal) Whitley of Lake City, FL; three sons, Gerald (Pat) McRay of Stoutsville, OH, Tony McRay of Gainesville, FL and Robbin McRay of Lake City, FL; four sisters, LaVerne Lamb of Knoxville, TN, Florence Larson of Orlando, FL, Joyce McRay of Houston TX, and Judy McRay of St. Petersburg, FL, and one brother, Terry McRay, and a stepmother, Onedia McRay, also of St. Petersburg; two brothers-in-law, William (Bill) Adkinson and W. A. (Waldon) Adkinson, one sister-in-law, Diana Norvell, and a mother-in-law, Faye Adkinson, all of Mercer County; four grandsons and one granddaughter.
The funeral was conducted Thursday, Sept. 30 at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel in Lake City, FL with Rev. Elmer Crews officiating. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
EDWARD ROBERTS
Edward “Peanut” Roberts, 67, Mackville Road, husband of Mary Leffew Roberts, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004 at his residence.
Born May 30, 1937 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Henry Edward and Mary Helen Stone Roberts.
He was a carpenter for John Henry Construction for 28 years and retired as a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed camping, boating and fishing.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, David (Sara) Roberts and three daughters, Teresa (Wayne) Carmickle, Sharon Roberts, and Donna (Chris) Horn, all of Harrodsburg; one stepson, Danny King and one stepdaughter, Teresa (Dennis) Stratton, both of Parksville; one sister, Alice Pankey of Harrodsburg; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren, and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy Reed Roberts.
The funeral will be today, Thursday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Frank Preston officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Roberts, Wayne Carmickle, Chris and Patrick Horn, Ben Sharp, Dennis Stratton II, Vance Reed and J. W. and Eddie Pankey.
Honorary pallbearers will be numerous friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 until 9 p.m. and Thursday after 7 a.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.
JAMES SHARP SR.
James B. Sharp Sr., 72, Harrodsburg, husband of Dora McIntosh Sharp, died Tues., Oct. 5, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital.
Born March 22, 1932 in Lexington, he was the son of the late George F. and Virginia Works Sharp.
He was a graduate of Lafayette High School and attended Sheetmetal Workers Apprentice School Local 110. He was an army sergeant in the Korean War and was a member of Lexington Lodge #1 F & AM, and of Oleika Shrine Temple, was a York Rite Mason, a past commander of VFW Post 52, a former coach in NLL from 1960-1968 and past president of Mercer County Little League. He was a member of South Lexington Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, James B. (Monica) Sharp Jr. of Lexington; one daughter, Kimberly Lynne (James) Roberts of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren, Brandon (Amanda) Roberts of Harrodsburg, James Eric (Amy) Sharp, James Gabriel Roberts, and Michelle Nicole Sharp, all of Lexington, and two great-granddaughters.
The funeral was conducted Saturday, Oct. 9 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road in Lexington with Bro. Edward Overbey officiating. Burial was in Lexington Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Roberts, Robert Works and grandchildren.
