Johnnie Ray Edwards, 51, Salvisa, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born Oct. 8, 1953 in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Laural and Sidney Criswell Edwards.
He was a logger for Edwards Sawmill, enjoyed flea markets, knife trading and was an avid U.K. basketball fan. He was also a former basketball player.
Survivors include: one son, Jordan Ray Edwards of Harrodsburg; three daughters, Joy Lynn (James) Martin and Jennifer Lynn (Josh) Garrity, both of Lawrenceburg, and Taylor Alyssa Edwards of Harrodsburg; two brothers, Francis (Brenda) Edwards and Jack (Tina) Edwards, and two sisters, Ruth (Jimmie) Douglas and Carletta (Dallas) Daniels, all of Salvisa; one granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be today, Thursday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. George Dye and Bro. Dallas Daniels officiating. Burial will be in the Hebron Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Edwards, Ray and Travis Daniels, James Martin, Josh Garrity and Juhon Goodman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert White, Keith Shouse, Jason Sprinkles, Allan Nichols, Gary Daniels and Lee Chowning.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Thursday after 7 a.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.

A .J. Hatfield, 82, Jackson Pike, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Arrangements are incomplete at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.
MARGARET KITCHEN
Margaret Van Arsdall “Peggy” Kitchen, 86, Big Sink Pike, Versailles, wife of Harold Kitchen, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington.
Born in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Maud Rose and Riker Samuel Van Arsdall.
She attended Kentucky Wesleyan College and graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in home economics. For 13 years, she was the home demonstration agent in Woodford County. She was an avid gardener, a member of the Little Garden Club and the Woodford County Woman’s Club and for many years prepared the floral arrangements at the Versailles United Methodist Church where she was a member.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: one daughter, Sally Kitchen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday, Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. at the Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home, 161 Broadway, Versailles. Interment will be in the Versailles Cemetery at a later date.
Pallbearers will be Ollie Nichols, Doug Drew, David Dotson, Wick Asbury and Tommy and Bill Van Arsdall.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Margaret “Peggy” Kitchen are suggested to the Hospice Care Center, St. Joseph Hospital, 2312 Alexandria Dr., Lexington, KY 40504-3277.
LAWRENCE KRING
Lawrence Kring, 71, Oregon Road, Salvisa, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004 at his residence.
Born March 8, 1933 in Frankfort, he was a son of the late Ward and Virgie Rice Kring.
He was a retired self-employed tile installer and a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church in Frankfort.
Survivors include: one daughter, Angelia Woodrum of Salvisa; one son, Kevin Kring of Palm Bay, FL; four sisters, Margaret McMullen and Judy Billelo, both of Iowa, Janet Shaw of Oklahoma and Sharon Brown of Florence; five brothers, Kenny, Chuck, Robert, Richard and Tommy Dalton, all of Melbourne, and several nieces and nephews.
No services are scheduled.
Arrangements are being handled by Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg.
HAZEL L. LAY
Hazel L. Lay, 95, Chestnut Street, widow of Edward Lay, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 20, 1909 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Houston and Lillie Peavler Lester.
She was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two nephews, Harold Lester and Lawrance Lay Jr., both of Harrodsburg; one niece, Imogene Lay Gordon of Harrodsburg, and several great nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted Sunday, Oct. 31 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ben Hill, Thad and Derek Lester, Samuel Carr, Eddie Lay and Roger Pratt.
Honorary pallbearers were Larraine Tackett and Christine McGrath.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of one’s choice.
MARY WATTS
Mary Frances Watts, 94, formerly of 327 Dixie Manor, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Born June 20, 1910 in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Eyre Emma Divine Watts.
She was a retired teacher and principal with the Harrodsburg City Schools, a member of the Mercer County Retired Teachers Association, member of Delta Kappa Gamma, and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two brothers, Roger Watts of Atlanta, GA and Cecil Watts of Sebring, FL; several nieces and nephews, and several great- and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Maurice and V.W. Watts and two sisters, Ermany Watts Bingham and Emma Mildred Watts.
The funeral will be Friday, Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Trisler, Bill Barnett, David Baker, Kenneth Kirkland, Charles Ison and Bill Freeman.
Honorary bearers will be Dick Dartt, Stephen and Ronnie Bailey, Joe Harlow, Curtis Devine, Darrell Agee and Dr. Charles Hatcher.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. and Friday prior to the service at the chapel.

RUSSELL CARRIER
Russell Carrier, 85, McClellan Drive, widower of Edith Carrier, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born June 4, 1919 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Robert and Molly Coslow Carrier.
He was a retired Kentucky State Highway Department employee, a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, a member of the DAV and the V.F.W. and a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Washington County.
Survivors include: one son, Glen Michael Carrier, and one daughter, Patricia Brown, both of Harrodsburg; three sisters, Mary Roberts, Lettie Smith and Beulah Smith, all of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted today, Thursday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. at the Unity Baptist Church, 2482 Mackville Road, Washington County with Brent Thornton and Brandon Carrier officiating. Burial will be in the Peter’s Cemetery at Mackville with military rites.
Visitation will be Wednesday after 5 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel and Thursday after 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
IDA CHITWOOD
Ida Chitwood, 101, formerly of Cardinal Meadows, Harrodsburg, recently of Lancaster, CA, widow of Coney Chitwood, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004 at the Antelope Valley Hospital.
Born Nov, 20, 1902 in Oneida, she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Susan Hensley Gay.
She worked in the garment industry as a seamstress and operated a boarding house for University of Cincinnati students until she was 80 years old before retiring in Harrodsburg. She loved cooking for her family and friends and was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Boyle County.
Survivors include: two daughters, Anna (Harvey) Noel of Lancaster, CA and Patricia (Walter) Simmons of Ft. Wright; two sisters, Anna Lee Shaw of Paducah and Julia Pearl Fleener of Louisville; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Earl Chitwood, and two daughters, Gennette Urpin and Virginia Leigh.
The funeral will be Saturday, Nov. 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Harold Best officiating. Burial will be in the Eubank Cemetery in Pulaski County.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at the chapel.

A. J. HATFIELD
A. J. Hatfield, 82, Jackson Pike, husband of Lorraine Gastineau Hatfield, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born June 17, 1922 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Everett and Lillie Mae Naylor Hatfield.
He was a farmer, a WWII U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Bohon Christian Church where he served as an elder, a member of the Bluegrass Horse Pullers Association and enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: two sons, Billy Jay (Kathy) Hatfield and Kevin Hatfield, both of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Carol (Paul) Phillips; eight grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Scull and Lula Gafney.
The funeral was conducted Friday, Nov. 5 at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Terry and Bro. Leonard Price officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Lancaster Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chris Hatfield, Brad Darland, Jamie Cecil, Dale McCauley, Art Gaffney and Kenny Tapp.
Honorary pallbearers were deacons and elders of Bohon Christian Church: Ron Nolin, Carl Clark, Jimmy Keller, Charlie Baker, Danny Sallee, Roger and Gary Hatfield, Mike Scull, Melvin Burton and Billy Sanford.
