DORIS GRAVES
Doris Allen “Dee” Meadows Graves, 54, Lexington, wife of William Yates “Bill” Graves, formerly of Harrodsburg, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004 at her residence.

Born April 7, 1950 in Maysville, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Emma Cooper Meadows.

She was a graduate of Fleming County High School and attended Maysville Community College and U.K. She was a homemaker, a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and a member and past president of Merry Wives of Greenbriar Road.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: two sons, Christopher Yates Graves of Richmond, VA and William Aaron Graves of Lexington; one brother, Charles Meadows Jr. of Flemingsburg; three sisters, Ruth Moran of Mayslick, Linda Dodge of Flemingsburg and Charlotte Huddelston of Brooksville.

The funeral will be today, Thursday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. at W.R. Milward Mortuary-Southland with Dr. Craig Loscalzo officiating. Burial will be in Goddard Church Cemetery in Fleming County with Rev. Richard Short officiating.

Contributions may be made to the Mercer County Senior Citizens Center, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.

MILDRED JONES

Mildred M. Jones, 90, of East Main Street, died Thursday, December 2, 2004 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born July 7, 1914, in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Wallace and Myrtie Blevins Jones.

She was a retired employee of Palm Beach Co. and a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Mabel Johnston of Dallas, TX; and a nephew, whom she raised, James Bourne of Harrodsburg.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 4, at Bellevue Cemetery by the Rev. Tommy Valentine.

Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Saturday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home.

JONATHAN MURRAY
Jonathan Lee Murray, 28, 601 Dove Court, husband of Jennifer Mecom Murray, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004 as a result of an auto accident.

Born Oct. 8, 1976 in Harrodsburg, he was a son of James Paul Murray Sr. of Mercer County and Linda Crossfield Murray of Salvisa.

He was an employee of Quebecorworld in Versailles and a member of the Ebenezer Church of Christ.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, Tyler Murray; one sister, Julie Murray of Harrodsburg; two brothers, James Paul “Jimmy” Murray Jr. of Louisville and Shannon Phillip Murray of Harrodsburg; maternal grandmother, Mary Crossfield of Salvisa, and paternal grandmother, Mattie Murray of Harrodsburg.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Charles Crossfield and paternal grandfather, R. L. Murray

The funeral was held Tuesday, Dec. 7 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Sam Stow and John Kesel officiating. Burial was in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Salvisa.

Pallbearers were Shannon and Jimmy Murray, Todd Crossfield, Jason Sexton, Joey Milburn and Daryl Russell.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Tyler Murray Trust Fund, c/o State Bank and Trust Company, 211 South Main Street, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.

VELVA SANDERS
Velva Faye Lawson Sanders, 87, Beacon Hill Drive, Louisville, formerly of Harrodsburg, widow of Roy Milton Sanders, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

Born Feb. 3, 1917 in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Maggie Newby Lawson.

She was a homemaker and a former member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one brother, Marrus Arnold Lawson of Dunnellon, FL; one sister, Virginia Yeast of Harrodsburg; one stepdaughter, Jolene Ashford of Lexington, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was conducted Wednesday, Dec. 8 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Owens officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bobby Newby, Roy Bonta, Vance Lawson, Don Billy Rogers, Shane Wilhoite and John Sutter.

MARGARET ALLISON

Margaret Gentry “Maggie” Allison, 90, widow of James Warder Allison Sr., died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born Jan. 15, 1914 in Harrodsburg, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Margaret Hanna Gentry.

She graduated from high school at age 16 as salutatorian of her class and attended Centre College. She was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She worked as a cafeteria supervisor for the Harrodsburg Independent School System, was an office worker at the former Broaddus Department Store and a sales clerk at the former Gem Drug Store until her retirement.

Survivors include three sons, James (Elizabeth) Allison Jr. of Lexington, Richard (Deborah) Allison of Dallas, TX and John (Carolyn) Allison of Indianapolis, IN; three daughters, Sara Allison of Harrodsburg, Elizabeth (Johnny) Minassian of Glendale, CA and Mary Ellen Allison of Mahwah, NJ; one sister, Sara Langston of Bradenton, FL; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a special companion, Sandy Silver.

She was preceded in death by one son, Albert Allison, and one grandson, Billy Walls.

The funeral was conducted Wednesday, Dec. 15 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Peggy Garnaat officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Rick and Phillip Allison, Arman and Allen Minassian, Chris Walls, Fred Schaefer and Jack Moreland.

Honorary pallbearers were John Currans, Mary Fister and the staff of McDowell Place in Danville.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Albert B. Allison Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond.

PAT CLOYD
Pat Cloyd, 45, 4125 Citation Lane, Lawrenceburg, formerly of Versailles, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004 at the Hospice Care Center.

Born in Daviess County, he was a son of the late Revel and Crystal Rice Cloyd.

He was a graduate of Woodford County High School, was a stonemason and a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Survivors include: three daughters, Lea Cloyd of Lawrenceburg and Margaret and Diana Cloyd of Mercer County, and one brother, Mike Cloyd of Bowling Green.

The funeral was held Wednesday, Dec. 15 at Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Ronnie Hupp officiating. Interment was at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Banks, Keith, Josh and Wes Slugantz, Buddy Carmichael and Jessie Brown.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hospice Care Center in Lexington.

JOHNNY CUMMINS SR.

Johnny Paul Cummins Sr., 50, of Belleview Street, Danville, died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.will be Born Feb. 2, 1954, in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Angie M. Freeman Cummins.

He was an employee of Penn Ventilation Co.

Survivors include: one daughter, Christie Cummins of Danville; two sons, Johnny P. Cummins Jr. and Jared Cummins, both of Gravel Switch; a stepson, Justus Glass, Gravel Switch; six brothers, Frank Cummins, Stanford, Mike Cummins, Moreland, Cecil Cummins, Lancaster, Ricky Cummins, Stanford, Tim Cummins, Junction City and Bradley Cummins, Danville; two sisters, Gayle Potts of Corapolis, PA, and Brenda Carroll, Burgin; and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 17, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Don Garland. Burial will be in Junction City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Audie Satterly, Jerry Findley, Marty Worthington, Joel High, Joe Reardon, Jeff Wofford and John Caudell. Honorary bearers will be former employees of Penn Ventilation, Ike McCowan and Mark Wade.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

W. H. DARLAND
W. H. Darland, 76, 310 Pleasant Hill Drive, Burgin, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004 at the Danville Center For Health and Rehabilitation.

Born Dec. 31, 1927 in Harrodsburg, he was a son of the late John and Bertha Robinson Darland.

He was a retired employee of the Kentucky State Hospital and was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church where he sang in the choir for many years. He was a former gospel quartet singer, a member of the Order of The Eastern Star #359 Danville, past president of the Burgin Lions Club and member of St. John’s Lodge #125 F & AM.

Survivors include: one brother, Lafon Darland of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Stacy (O.C.) Batts of Knoxville, TN and Ludine (Wallace) Shepperson of Mercer County; one niece, and two nephews.

The funeral will be today, Thursday, Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bro. Dan Drake officiating. Burial will be in the Burgin Memorial Garden.

Masonic services will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Doyle, Chris and Tim Darland, Glenn Peavler, Sonny Thompson and Johnny Meredith.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Heritage Hospice, P.O. Box 1213, Danville, KY 40422.

ALVIN GIBSON

Alvin Gibson, 87, died Monday, December 6, 2004 at Stanford House nursing home.

Born Oct. 28, 1917, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Tim and Bessie Johnson Gibson.

He was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of McKinney Christian Church.

Survivors include: one daughter, Bernadine Austin, Hustonville; and two brothers, Coy Gibson, Liberty and Dennis Foster , Harrodsburg; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 8, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Mike Hatter. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

JOELLE LAWSON

Joelle Nicole Lawson, 18, of Springhill Drive, Danville, died Thursday, December 9, 2004 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Born Oct. 1, 1986, in Charlotte, N.C., she was the daughter of Harold and Jo Ann Logue of Danville.

She was a member of Victory Christian Fellowship in Somerset where she was the church volunteer activities coordinator. She was a 2004 graduate of Danville High School, where she was a varsity cheerleader, editor of the year book and was named to the National Council on Youth Leadership. She was a clerk at Brookcove Dry Cleaners.

Additional survivors include: a brother, Joshua Lawson, Danville; a step-brother, Heath Logue, FL; a step-sister, Cortney Shewmaker of Parksville; grandparents, Wilton Logue, Danville, Elizabeth Case, Harrodsburg; and great-grandmother, Delia Lewis, Stearns.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 13, at First Baptist Church, Danville, by the Revs. Mark Herald and Kyle Connell. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.

Visitation is after 3 p.m. today at Stith Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Iven Robinson, Cole St. John, John Shewmaker, Clif Watkins, Dukey Turner, Ryan Williams, Matt Booth and Doug Rulon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sarah Monroe, Brittany Jamison, Jessica Spencer, Dora Jane Cantrell, Ashley Hampton, Sarah Elliott and Amanda Crowell.

Memorials may go to the Joelle Lawson Scholarship c/o Dollars for Scholars, 432 W. Main Street.
