Granville O. Carey, 80, of Florence, died at 3:44 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004 at St. Luke Hospital-West.
Born Oct. 1, 1923 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Goldie Demetrius Carey and Alice Christine Divine and was married to the late Shirley Carey.
He was a retired self-employed architect who designed dozens of churches, retirement homes, hospitals, and schools.
He designed Lakeside Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon. He also designed Florence Baptist Church, the Boone County Cooperative Extension Service building in Burlington, the Tri-City YMCA in Florence, several Erlanger school buildings and the old Covington Catholic High School and helped design the original layout for Northern Kentucky University.
He was a member of the Cincinnati Bird Club, Erlanger Lion's Club and American Institute of Architects and a former member of the Kenton County Executive Committee and the Edgewood Council. He was a past master for the Unity Lodge in Ludlow.
Survivors include: three daughters, Christy Boone of Loveland, OH, Pam Durstock of Burlington and Patti Ramsey of Union; three sons, Marcus Carey of Poplar Grove, Matthew Carey of Edgewood and Martin Carey of Burlington; a sister, Minnie Belle Conley of Bradenton, FL, and 14 grandchildren.
The funeral was held Saturday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home in Erlanger. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memoiral Park in Erlanger.

MARY LAMBERT
Mrs. Mary Lena "Dolly" Lambert, 83, of Lambert Lane, widow of Clifford L. Lambert, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born May 16, 1920 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret Satterly Robinson.
She was a member of the Grapevine Christian Church. She was retired from Cricketeer and she enjoyed quilting.
Survivors include two sisters: Mrs. Gladys Wathen of Salvisa and Mrs. Hadgie W. Royalty of Louisville; a brother Billy Robinson of Florida; three half-uncles, Rayford Robinson of Louisville, Ras Robinson of Salvisa and Jim Robinson of Harrodsburg, and two half-aunts, Nancy Robinson and Lyda Robinson both of Salvisa.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Buford Robinson, and one sister, Hazel Robinson.
The funeral for Mrs. Lambert was at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Claude Waldridge officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Marion Rogers Jr, Gary Royalty, David Royalty, Bobby Taylor, Gene Taylor, Aubrey Keith Wilson, and Marty Hall. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Pearson and Lil Jack Pearson.
PLEAS TRAVILLIAN
Pleas Travillian, 98, 145 Cedar Lane, husband of Jessie Lee Crick Travillian, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004 at the Ephriam McDowell Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
Born May 5, 1905 in Lexington, he was the son of the late George Thomas and Samantha Payne Travillian.
He was a retired coal miner and farmer and a member of the Herrington Lake Pentecostal Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: four sons, Samuel Travillian of Harrodsburg, George Travillian of Florida, Lonnie Travillian of Harrodsburg and Pleas Travillian Jr. of Frankfort; three daughters, Samantha Sturdivant of Danville, Mable Carrier of Frankfort and Zetta Lanham of Danville; 27 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, and 37 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Chester, Stallard and David Travillian.
The funeral was conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Rev. Steve VanHook. Burial was in the Danville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Chester, Pleas Jr.; Lonnie, Steve and Gardner Travillian; Joe Scott; Gary Pike, and Brian Mardis.
Honorary bearers were David Dobbs; Odis Caroll; David Stratton; Johnny and Jason Carrier, and David, George, and Sam Travillian.

STANLEY VANDYKE
Stanley B. VanDyke, 86, of Harrodsburg Health Care Center died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004 at the health care center after a long illness.
Born Jan. 30, 1917 in McAfee, he was the son of the late Dan Thomas and Lena May Lay VanDyke.
He was a retired horse trainer for the former S.E. Falls Stables of Cornishville Street in Harrodsburg. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, a member of the VFW and a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrodsburg.
Survivors include a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Parks Funeral Home by Rev. Daniel Childs, pastor of the Second Baptist Church, Mayslick. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the Parks Funeral Home.
EMMA WATTS
Emma Mildred Watts, 87, 327 Dixie Manor, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Born Jan. 25, 1916 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Eyre Emma Devine Watts.
She was a retired nurse at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital where she served as a member of the hospital's Nurses Fellowship, a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church where she served in the WMU, taught the Miss Emma Girls' Sunday School Class for many years, and was on the board of directors at Cardinal Meadows.
Survivors include: two brothers, Roger Watts, Atlanta, GA, and Cecil Watts, Sebring, FL, and one sister, Mary Frances Watts, Harrodsburg. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Maurice and V.W. Watts and one sister, Ermany Watts Bingham.
The funeral was Sunday, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Rick Snyder and Eddie Russell. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Trisler, Bill Barnett, David Baker, Kenneth Kirkland, Ronnie Bailey and Bill Freeman. Honorary bearers were Dick Dartt, Stephen Bailey, Joe Harlow, Curtis Devine, Charles Ison and Dr. Charles Hatcher.

MICHAEL WOOTON
Michael Don Wooton, 33, 2920 Winter Garden, Lexington, son of Paula Francis Wooton, Salvisa, and the late Don Wooton, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004 in Lexington.
He was a graduate of Tates Creek High School in Lexington and was an employee of Sir Pizza in Lexington.
Along with his mother, survivors included: a sister, Laura Ann Wooton of Mercer County; his maternal grandfather, Cecil Francis of Mercer County, and his maternal grandmother, Bettie Berdan, Lexington.
The funeral was at 1 p.m. Monday at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Terry Morrison. Burial was in the Ebenezer Church of Christ Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cecil Francis, Roger Hisle, Wayne Coffman, Dean Million, Jason Million, Roger Miller and Jeremiah Sloan
MARTHA PEAVLER
Martha Field Peavler, 83, widow of Lee Andrew Peavler, formerly of Mockingbird Hill in Harrodsburg, died Monday Jan. 26, 2004 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 13, 1920 in Bracken County, she was the daughter of the late John Smarr and Mary Holmes Field.
She was a graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan, completed her post-graduate work at Eastern Kentucky University and was a retired teacher having taught in both Harrodsburg City and Mercer County school systems. She was a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church, a former member of the Harrodsburg Historical Society, and a former member of the Band Parents at Harrodsburg. Mrs. Peavler enjoyed reading and antiques.
Survivors include: her son Andy Peavler of Tampa, FL, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Beth Peavler, her sister Nancy Field Johnson, and her brother, William Field.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Jimmy Owens officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Springate, Frank Trisler, Charlie Carr and Dr. Charles Hatcher.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Thursday at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.

M. G. Brown Jr., 80, formerly of Burgin, husband of the late Alyce Denny Brown died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004 at the Kingsbrook Life Care Center in Ashland.
Born April 27, 1923 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Miller and Maggie Lambert Brown.
He was a retired dispatcher from Kentucky Utilities, a member of Mercer Masonic Lodge #777 F & AM and a member of Burgin Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Robert (Sharon) Brown of Ashland; a daughter, Peggy (Harvey) Britton of Tell City, IN, and four grandchildren, Rob Britton, Charles Britton, Amy Britton and Kyle Brown.
The funeral will be noon, Thursday at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Harvey Britton officiating. Burial will be in Burgin Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Rob Britton, Chris Britton, Kyle Brown, Jack Coleman, James Dunn and Alan Vanarsdall.
Visitation was 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and will be after 7 a.m. Thursday at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.
LOUIS BENGE
Louis Martin Benge, 60, 105 Hensley Heights, husband of Rosetta Russell Benge, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington after a brief illness.
Born Nov. 25, 1943 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Martin Jackson and Mary Elizabeth Gabhart Benge.
He was a 1963 graduate of Harrodsburg High School, the manager of the Kentucky Tire Outlet in Harrodsburg and a member of the Harrodsburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sisters, Yuvonne Wesley and Nancy Pinkston, both of Harrodsburg, and his mother-in-law, Edna Bradley of Harrodsburg.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by the Revs. Jerel Coffey, Jeff Barrett and Daniel Wilson. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were J. D. Dean, Mark and Steve Bugg, Ben Hein, Kenny Lister, Kenny Lister Jr., Ken Marshall, Dee Wesley, Anthony Mobley and Tony Best.
