Frances Robinson Cartwright, 78, Nicholasville, passed away Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004 at Royal Manor Nursing Home after a long illness.
Born April 17, 1925 in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Everett and Bessie Medley Robinson and the widow of Clay Cartwright.
She was a retired GE employee and an active lifelong member of the Nicholasville Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Wanda (Johnny) Masters, Nicholasville and Patsy (Bill) Burkhart, Haines City, FL; a daughter-in-law, Geraldine Cartwright, Harrodsburg; a brother, Wesley (Louise) Robinson, Woodford County; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Eddy "Hoss" Cartwright; a sister, Trudy Logue and a brother, Wilbert Robinson.
The funeral was held Monday, March 1 at Betts and West Funeral home, Nicholasville. Burial was held at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.
Bearers were Jeff Webb, Lee Shearer, Johnny "JJ" Masters Jr., Johnny Edward Masters, Scott Bugg, and David Teets.
Special honorary bearers were Tyler Shearer, Michael Webb, Johnny "BO" Masters III, and Zachary Bugg.
Donations are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
ELBERT CONLEY
Elbert Eugene "Gene" Conley, 64, Kennedy Bridge Road, Lancaster, died Monday, March 1, 2004 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington.
Born July 21, 1939 in Bonanza, he was a son of the late Elbert and Grace Harmon Conley.
He was a retired employee of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Army veteran and past commander of American Legion Post 52, Harrodsburg.
Survivors include: two daughters, Robyn (Keith) Long of Lancaster and Christa (Allen) Thomlin of Ashland; two sons, Roger Conley and Marty (Kim) Conley of Melbourne, FL; four sisters, Janie Conley of Lexington, Lillian Earlene England and Joann Russell both of Flatwoods and Patricia Denton of Somerset, OH; a brother, Bill Conley of Perdido Key, FL; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Conley.
The funeral was held today, Thursday, at 11 a.m. at Ramsey Funeral Home and was officiated by Rev. Jonathan Ward. Burial was in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Bruner, Jim Skipper, Curtis Preston, Rubin Brown, Kevin Ollett and Brad Minix.
Honorary pallbearers were Robin and Jim Hinderlight.
Military rites were performed at the cemetery by the Causwell-Saufley American Legion Post of Stanford.
TENNEL SANDERS
Tennel Sanders, 93, Hopewell Road, husband of Ethel Howard Sanders, died Monday, March 1, 2004.
Born Dec. 9, 1910 in Dorton, he was a son of the late Edmond and Vina Burks Sanders.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Kathleen Payne of Harrodsburg; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Carl Loran Sanders; three brothers, and four sisters.
The funeral was held today, Thursday, at 1 p.m. at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals in Brodhead. Burial was in Liberty Cemetery in Pulaski County.
FLORA THOMAS
Flora Lane Thomas, 92, Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004 at McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born April 7, 1911 in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late Mitchell and Annie Atkinson Lane.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Vivian (Bud) K. Thomas of Keyser, WV and Jesse Thomas of Carmel, IN; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Tuesday, March 2 at the Wilder Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Bausum officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Perryville.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Denny, Russell Denny, Joe Denny, Tony Denny, Barry Thomas and Bruce Jefferies.

H. MAC VANDIVIERE
H. Mac Vandiviere, M.D., 82, 8 Deer Path, Lancaster, husband of Irene Melvin Vandiviere, passed away Monday, March 1, 2004.
Born in Dawsonville, GA, he was the son of Augustus "Gus" and Luna Castlebury Vandiviere.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: two sons, Chris (Dani) of Harrodsburg and Martin of Lexington; a sister, Jeanette Tift of Albany, GA; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Friday, March 5 at 2:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church and will be officiated by Rev. Birch Rambo. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery.
EDITH ALEXANDER
Edith Lovett Alexander, 92, Harrodsburg Health Care Center, widow of William Myers "Jack" Alexander, died Friday, March 5, 2004 at the health care center.
Born Dec. 26, 1911 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late John and Ida Milburn Montgomery.
She was a retired telephone operator for South Central Bell, a homemaker, a member of the Lexington Road Homemakers, and a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Joyce (Stanley) Jenkins and June (Joe) Gerlach, both of Harrodsburg; one brother, Dan Montgomery, Danville; five grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Shannon and John Montgomery and two sisters, Betty Worthington and Mary Duncan Bowles.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Bro. Morris Traynor, Bro. Harold Best and Bro. Greg Farmer. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Joe Noel, R. C. Robinson, Eddie Sherrow, Lloyd Phillips, Larry Curtis, Art Selvey, Mike Godbey and Ronnie Blackwell. Honorary bearers were: Jim Hampton, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

CHARLES BARKER
Charles Barker, 48, Cane Run Street, Harrodsburg, died Sunday, March 7, 2004 at his residence.
Born June 28, 1955 in Lexington, KY he was the son of the late Home and Georgie Scott Barker. He was a self-employed painting contractor.
Survivors include a sister, Jane West, Harrodsburg. There will be no services or visitation. The Ransdell Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

JOHN BURTON
John M. Burton, 90, Inman Avenue, widower of Velma Clifford Burton, died Sunday, March 7, 2004 at his residence.
Born Oct. 11, 1913 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late John T. Burton and Jimmie E. Wickersham Preston Burton.
He was a retired farmer and member of the Bohon Church of Christ.
Survivors include: two sons, Glave (Kaye) Burton of Harrodsburg and Donald (Carolyn) Burton of Hustonville; a half-brother, Billy Preston of Indianapolis, IN; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two sons, James E. Burton and John Craig Burton.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Frank Preston, Gary Story and Don Burton. Burial was in the Ebenezer Church of Christ Cemetery in Mercer County.
Pallbearers were: Eddie Burton, David Peavler, Harvey Coontz, Jerry Burns, Paul Preston Jr. and Jimmy Dean.

BLANCHE HURST
Blanche Glen Hayes Hurst, 86, 478 Cornishville St., widow of Ben C. Hurst, died Friday, March 5, 2004 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 17, 1913 in Grafton, NE, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Minnie Hopkins Hayes.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three sons, Joe (Ruby) Hurst, Martin (Peggy) Hurst, and Condit (Judy) Hurst, all of Harrodsburg; a sister, Mildred Black of Harrodsburg; 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Henry Hayes, and a half brother, Bert Hayes.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 8 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by John David Lane. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Joe, Martin, Condit, Paula, Brandon and Brad Hurst.

JAMES ELLERS
James Richard Ellers, 76, Old Louisville Road, Salvisa, died Tuesday March 9, 2004 at his residence.
Born July 2, 1927 at Wallins Creek in Harlan County, he was the son of the late G. W. Ellers, former pastor of Harrodsburg Baptist Church, and Mildred Caress Ellers.
Ellers grew up in Harrodsburg and was a former member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church. He moved to Kokomo, IN, in 1944. He served with the U. S. Navy during W.W.II and Korean War. He attended Georgetown College and retired as a salesman.
Survivors include: one son, Gary Ellers of California; one daughter, Gayle Ellers Hamm of St. Louis, MO; two sisters, Mildred Arens of Harrodsburg and Miriam Copp of Columbia City, IN; two brothers, Jonathan Ellers of Kokomo, IN, and George Ellers of Salvisa; two sisters-in-law, Ann Ellers and Dottie Ellers, both of Louisville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers William and Frank Ellers.
A private funeral will be conducted at Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
