Daisy Deana Egbert, 98, of 2476 Cummins Ferry Rd., Salvisa, died Thursday, April 27, 2000 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born April 25, 1902 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy Dean Beckham. She was the widow of Reuben Egbert Sr.
She worked as a homemaker and was a member of the Ebenezer Church of Christ.
Survivors include: two sons, Elmer (Tuggle) Egbert and Reuben Egbert Jr., both of Salvisa;
One daughter, Virginia Hurst, Harrodsburg; 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 29, 2000 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. John David Lane officiating. Burial was in the Ebenezer Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Rick Mobley, Wathan Bottom, Travis Profitt, Ronnie Joe Egbert, Brad Quinn, Tommy Egbert, Terry Egbert and Jerry Young.
DOROTHY CLARK
Dorothy Ann Clark, 67, of 341 E. Office Street, died Wednesday April 26, 2000 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born May 27, 1932 in Columbus, IN, she was the daughter of the late Ballard Chester and Nellie Ooley Strickland.
She was a laundry company employee.
Survivors include: her husband, J. T. Clark, Harrodsburg; two brothers, Gordon Strickland, Knoxville, TN, Wayne Strickland, Louisville; four sisters, Susan Mandel, Ervine, CA, Kay Shu Wu, Barstow, CA, Dolores Clifford, Knoxville, TN, and JoAnn Strickland, Birmingham, AL.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 28, at the Spring Hill Cemetery with James Harley officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery. There was no visitation.
Ransdell Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
BRANCHE JAMES
Branche James, 89, of 200 East Broadway, died Thursday, April 27, 2000 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.
Born December 16, 1910 in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late James G. and Lucy Rucker Conn. She was the widow of Edward James.
She had worked at the Gem Store and was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Richard James, Harrodsburg, Howard James, Spring Hill, FL; two brothers, Claude Conn, Tusiola, IL and Jonas Conn, Dayton, OH; six sisters, Virginia Cotton, Lancaster, Freda Barnes, Danville, Lucy Sheets, Dayton, OH, Edith Sparks, Utica, NY, Stella Alamo, PA, and Miller Underwood, Lancaster; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 30, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, with Dr. David Hartman officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John James, Coleman James, Brett James, David Faulkner, Jason James and Mike Lewis.
CELESTUS CORNISH
Celestus Cornish, 94, of 327 North Greenville Street, died Thursday, April 27, 2000 at Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born October 22, 1905 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Bessie Colvin. She was the widow of Goodloe Cornish.
She worked as a homemaker and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Lillie Mae Gritton, Willisburg; one brother, Orland Colvin, Chaplain, one sister, Lottie Durr, Anderson County; one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Sunday April 30, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Jack Guerin and John Cato officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Curtis Sherrow, Wilson Pinkston, Mike Darland, Donald Lee Colvin, Bob Christerson and Billy C. Colvin.
MILITARY RITES
Douglas Laws Post #52, American Legion, Post 6935, VFW and DAV Post #54 conducted Military Rites for Willie Gritton at Spring Hill Cemetery on April 26, 2000.
Those attending were Roy Freeman, Curtiss Sherrow, DeWitt Sims, Lucian Landers, James Carey, J. L. Devine,Louis Ransdell, Joe Harlow, Jim Sharpe, Tom Denny, Preston Burgin, Howard Howells, Henry Pulliam, Marion Mershon and Harold Ackerman.
Jerry Freeman served as bugler.
MARGARET PRATO
Mrs. Margaret Hyatt Prato, 86, of Gainesville, FL, formerly of Mackville, died Friday, April 21, 2000 at the Hospice Care Center in Gainesville.
A native of Washington County, she was born on September 17, 1913, daughter of the late Roy and Willie Ann Ruby Hyatt.
She was a member of the Indian Hills Christian Church in Danville. She was a 1931 graduate of Mackville High School and was a retired operator for South Central Bell Telephone Company.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Kevin (Sue Ann) Crosby, Gainesville; Mrs. James F. (Joy) Morris, Lynn, MA; one sister, Mrs. Kathleen Wilson, Louisville; three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Prato, and a brother, Joseph Franklin Hyatt.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 28, at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. James F. Morris and Bro. Odis Clark officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Willisburg.
Pallbearers were Rev. James F. Morris, Kevin Crosby, Keith Crosby and Danny Morris.
ANNETTA BOTTOM
Annetta Hayes Bottom, 71, of Mackville, died Thursday, April 27, 2000 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born August 28, 1928 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late James Farris and Dora Gardner Hayes.
She was a member of the Mt. Freedom Baptist Church and was a retired employee of the Cricketeer Manufacturing Company in Harrodsburg.
Survivors include: two sons, Freddie (Linda) Bottom, Jerry (Janice) Bottom, both of Mackville; four daughters, Kathy (Clayton) Tyler, Harrodsburg; Maxine (Larry) Fenwick, Springfield; Judy (Billy) Cloyd, Mackville, and Roxie (Todd) Kelty, Springfield; one sister, Lucy Noel of Mackville; eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loraine Bottom, one brother, Arlie Hayes; one sister, Lorene Brown.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 30, at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Nelson Reynolds, officiating. Burial was in the Peter Cemetery in Mackville.
Pallbearers were Jeremy Bottom, Allen Bottom, David Bottom, Jim Smith, Mark Wilkerson and Freddie Leonard.
HATTIE SEMONES
Hattie Pearl Semones, 79, of 480 Ashley Dr., died Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born March 29, 1921 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late William (Doc) Stallard and Ora Mae Claunch Bailey and was the widow of Garnett Russell Semones.
She was a retired seamstress for Cricketeer Manufacturing Company.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Randy (Garnetta) Webb, one son, Morris (Edith) Semones; two half brothers, Danny Bailey and Bobby Bailey; two sisters, Ella White and Gertrude Gray, all of Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Semones.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with James Byrd officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Semones, Billy Ray Semones, Tony Gray, Bruce Patterson, Jimmy Terhune, Butch Steele and Roy Norvell.
Visitation will be at the funeral chapel after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday.
GLENN HILDEBRANDT
Glenn R. Hildebrandt, 70, of 170 Castle Heights, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born August 1, 1929 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late John and Frieda Dittman Hildebrandt.
He was retired from retail sales and was a member of the Indian Hills Christian Church in Danville, where he served as elder, Mission Committee chair, former Sunday School superintendent and Sunday School teacher and a member of the THEOS.
He was past president of Harrodsburg High School Athletic Boosters and an army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include: his wife, Patricia Hildebrandt, Harrodsburg; two sons, Kevin (Linda) Hildebrandt, Lantana, FL, Jeffrey (Christy) Hildebrandt, Perryville; one daughter, Mrs. Jim (Lisa) Hildebrandt Ford, Hixson, TN; two brothers, Calvin Hildebrandt, Chicago, IL, Harvey Hildebrandt; three sisters, Muriel Carter, Stratford, AZ, Justine Bova, Lisbon, IA and Arline Orchowski, IL; five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Hildebrandt.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 5, at the Indian Hills Christian Church, with Rev. Odis Clark and Rev. Lee Cox officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers will be Alvis Johnson, Tom Berggren, Rex Graham, Terry Currens, David Perry and Bradley Curtis. Honorary bears will be members of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class of the Indian Hills Christian Church.
Memorials are suggested to the Indian Hills Christian Church, the Louisville Bible College or to one's favorite charity.
Visitation will be at Ransdell Funeral Chapel from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, and after 9:00 a.m. at the Church.
WILLIAM GENTRY
William H. Gentry, 81, of Blacksburg, VA died April 25, 2000 at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born November 19, 1918 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late James T. and Harriet Renfro Gentry. He was the widower of Katherine Poor Gentry.
He had retired after 25 years with Corning Glass Works.
He was a World War II veteran and was stationed at Clark Field when the Japanese attacked on December 7, 1941. He was a survivor of the Bataan Death March and had received two Silver Stars, a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was a member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War and the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor.
Survivors include: a daughter, Harriet Gentry Cobb, Savannah, GA; two sons, William H. Gentry II and James W. Gentry, both of Lacoochee, FL; one sister, Nancy L. Bannister, Paris; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Richard Gentry, Harrodsburg; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at Spring Hill Cemetery, Saturday May 6.

RICHARD BAKER
Richard Daniel Baker, 86, of Battle Road, Mackville, died Saturday, May 6, 2000 at his residence.
Born in Washington County, March 29, 1914, he was the son of the late Charlie S. and Elizabeth Mattingly Baker.
He was a member of the Mt. Freedom Baptist Church, a retired farmer and a retired employee of the Kentucky State Highway Department.
Survivors include: his wife, Kathryn Royalty Baker, Mackville; one son, Sherrill (Judy) Baker, Louisville; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Baker Royalty.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 9, at the Carey and Son Funeral Home, Springfield, with Rev. Cal Adams and Rev. John McDaniel officiating. Burial was in the Peter Cemetery at Mackville.
Pallbearers were Charles Lewis, Donnie Black, Charles Turner, Darrel Baker, Dave Harmon, Connie Isham.
