WILMA WELLS

Wilma Edith Wells, 93, South College St., died Thursday, April 1, 2004 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 17, 1911 in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Wade H. and Verna Edith Moore Wells.

She had worked at Newberry, Harrod Fashion, and the Old Fort Harrod State Park. She was a member of the Harrodsburg Church of Christ.

Survivors include: one sister, Orpha Wells of Harrodsburg; one sister-in-law, Frances Wells of Harrodsburg; one nephew, Ronnie Wells of Mayo; two nieces, Sue Satterly of Mercer County and Rita Isaac of Harrodsburg; five great-nephews and three great-nieces.

The funeral was held Sunday, April 4 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with James Hahn and Gary Bagwell officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Willisburg.

Pallbearers were Harold Sutherland, Chester Gabhart, Bobby Bishop, Arthur Bradley, Genie Sims and Jackie Freeman.

Honorary pallbearers were Linda Bishop, Toni Sims, Ruth Peavler, Scarlett Bradley, Christina Barrett, Judy Derringer, Ruby Dunn, Lou Parrott, Barbara Gash, Skeeter Reed, William Dedham, Dr. John S. Baughman, Charles Martha, Vance Smith and Donnie Pinkston.

WANDA BUGG

Wanda Evelyn Bugg, 78, 4017 Hustonville Rd., Danville, widow of J.H. "Archie" Bugg, died Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Charleston Health Care.

Born Aug. 2, 1925 in Mercer County, she was a daughter of Viola Elizabeth Sharp Landers and the late Grant Landers.

She was a retired telephone operator for South Central Bell and a Kentucky Colonel. She was a member of Salt River Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Jane Noland of Danville and Peggy Webb of Clarksville, TN; three sisters, Dixie Logue and Norma McMurry, both of Salvisa and Barbara Brown of Burgin; three brothers, Charles Thomas Landers of Simpsonville, James Ray Landers of Linden and Lucian J. Landers of Harrodsburg; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Wednesday, April 14 at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Melvin Holmes officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Christopher Webb, Jeremy Noland, Steven Landers and Gary Brown.

Honorary bearers were members of the Telephone Pioneers.

JO ANN DIETZ

Jo Ann Dietz, 75, New Castle, IN, wife of Joseph H. Dietz, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at the Waters of New Castle.

Born Nov. 9, 1928 in Hustonville, she was a daughter of the late J.T. and Effie Lunsford Bogie.

She was a member of the Art Association of Henry County, Henry County Historical Society, Henry County Saddle Club and the Muncie Light Horse Club. She enjoyed gardening, animals, water skiing and spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: two sons, Michael Joe (Bonita) Dietz and Gregory Foster (Nancy) Dietz, both of New Castle; one daughter, Sherri (Darrell) Dietz-Ward of Harrodsburg; one brother, Alvin Bogie of Frankfort; one sister, Nel Davis of Stanford; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy McElfresh, and two brothers, William Bogie and Hayes Bogie.

The funeral was held Saturday, April 10 at the Macer-Hall Funeral Home in New Castle with Rev. Fran Bullock officiating. Burial was at South Mound Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

MYRTLE DRURY

Myrtle "Penny" Hazel Spaulding Drury, 72, Kirkwood Road, Salvisa, widow of Robert "Bob" Drury, died Friday, April 9, 2004 at her home after a long illness.

Born Nov. 17, 1931 in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Ruth Brown Spaulding.

She was a former employee of Family Affair Restaurant in Salvisa and a retired state revenue cabinet employee in Frankfort after 17 years of service. She was a Kentucky Colonel, an avid doll collector and doll clothing seamstress. She was a charter member of the Anderson County Christian Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Tony Drury and Carson (Alexa) Drury, both of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Wanda Sue Jones of Florida; two brothers, Lonnie Spaulding of Lawrenceburg and Jessie Spaulding of Mercer County; one sister, Betty Stinnett of Lawrenceburg; one aunt, Dora Sears of Lawrenceburg; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, "Tootle" Tom, Robert, Allen, and Johnnie Spaulding, one sister, Nellie Sherrow and one grandchild, Jennifer Drury.

The funeral was conducted Monday, April 12 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Jason Clark and Jerry Perry officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Steve Roby, William Gash, Jerry Goodlett, Mike Ransdell, Bobby Brock and Stanley Long.

Honorary bearers were Susan Flora, Shirley Gash, Frances Brock, Rita Long, Mae Hamlin, Betty Harmon, Charlene Goodlett, Susie Cinnamon, Shirley Johnson, Beth Hazelwood, Gaye Brock and Judy Kays.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Heritage Hospice, P.O. Box 1213, Danville, KY 40422.

GEORGE LONG

George Bradley Long, 91, Talmage-Mayo Road, Salvisa, widower of Jessie Norton Long, died Thursday, April 8, 2004 at the Corbin Baptist Regional Medical Center.

Born April 5, 1913 in Woodford County, he was the son of the late George and Vicie Hellard Long.

He was a retired employee of the Bridge Gang for Southern Railroad.

Survivors include: three sons, Jess Long of Corbin, David (Gladys) Long of London and Boyd (Corene) Long of Washington County; three daughters, Arnetta (Jim) Hendren of Louisville, Betty (G.W.) Barnes of Mercer County and Norene Baker of Harrodsburg; one sister, Juanita Baxter of Leitchfield; 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and several great -great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Clay Long and Ansel Long and two sisters, Nina B. Simpson and Mary Elizabeth Gaddis.

The funeral was conducted Saturday, April 10 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Cleo Goodlett and John Hockersmith officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jerry, Dennis Wayne and Glen Norton and James, Billy and Tommy Baxter.

ZELMA REED

Zelma Brown Reed, 90, Louisville Road, widow of Maurice W. Reed, died Thursday, April 8, 2004 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born March 24, 1914 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Susie Kidwell Brown.

She was a retired self-employed beautician and a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include: a step-son, John "Skeeter" Reed of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Elaine (David) Settle of Harrodsburg; one sister, Mrs. H.F. Parker of Louisville; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; several great- grandchildren and step-great- grandchildren.

The funeral was conducted Saturday, April 10 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Don Chase and Terry Morrison officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Russell Cox, Franklin "Frankie" Reed, Billy Fredrick, Carter Cox, Dr. Rick Dartt and Stephen Reed.

ALLEN SPAULDING

Allen Eugene Spaulding, 67, Claylick Road, Salvisa, husband of Geraldine Waldridge Spaulding, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at the home of his daughter.

Born Jan. 10, 1936 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Charles Clayton and Ruth May Brown Spaulding.

He was a retired carpenter with Spaulding Contracting Company and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Fairview Christian Church and the senior men's Sunday school class.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter, Sharon Spaulding of Lawrenceburg; two sons, Ricky (Lisa) Spaulding of Lawrenceburg and Todd Spaulding of Frankfort; two sisters, Betty Stinnett of Lawrenceburg and Penny Drury of Mercer County; two brothers, Jesse Leroy "Fuzz" (Aline) Spaulding of Mercer County and Lonnie (Donnie) Spaulding of Lawrenceburg; three grandchildren and one step-grandson.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Nellie Sherrow, and three brothers, Robert, Johnny and William "Tootle" Spaulding.

The funeral was held Saturday, April 10 at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Mark Wells and Bro. Harry Hebert officiating. Burial was in the Hebron Cemetery in Anderson County.

DOROTHY TATUM

Dorothy Louise Tatum, 79, Haggin Memorial Hospital Extended Care Center, widow of Marvin Tatum, died Friday, April 9, 2004 at the extended care center.

Born Dec. 19, 1924 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Wess and Desda Stratton Parsons.

She was a longtime secretary and bookkeeper for the Freeman Auction Company in Harrodsburg, a member of the Harrodsburg Order of Eastern Star # 309 for 50 years and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two sisters, Myrtle P. Cornelius and Gertrude Sheegog, both of Harrodsburg and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held Monday, April 12 at the Spring Hill Cemetery with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Harrodsburg Baptist Church Music Program or to the Order of Eastern Star in care of Joyce C. Sanders, 750 McBrayer Drive, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.

ROBERT TATUM

Robert Tatum, 45, South College Street, died Sunday, April 11, 2004 at his residence.

Born June 7, 1958 in Casey County, he was a son of Patsy Byrd Schoebel of Danville and the late Ronald K. Tatum.

He was a farm worker and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include: his stepfather, Richard Schoebel of Danville; three sons, Jamie Lynn (Carline) Tatum of Harrodsburg, Robbie Eugene Tatum of Danville and Ronald K. Tatum of Nicholasville; one stepson, David Bartley of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Bobbie Jo (Scott) Seinhauer of Danville; two brothers, Gary Dean (Vickie) Tatum and Timothy Lee Tatum, both of Harrodsburg; five grandchildren; three aunts and one uncle.

The funeral will be today, Thursday, April 15, at 7 p.m. at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Daniel Wilson and Bro. James Harley officiating.

Visitation from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.
