Vera Bartholomew Francis, 88, widow of Gerald A. Francis, died Friday, April 30, 2004 at the home of her daughter in Harrodsburg.
Born Jan. 21, 1916 in Cincinnati, OH, she was the daughter of Harvey Sr. and Louise Pontius Bartholomew.
Survivors include: one daughter, Eileen (Earl) Motzer of Harrodsburg; one son, Jerry (Nancy) Francis of Harrison, OH; one brother, Harvey Bartholomew; two granddaughters, Jennifer Thaler and Julie Stevens, and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by one brother, James Bartholomew.
The funeral was held Monday, May 3 at the First Presbyterian Church of Harrison, OH. Burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by the John C. Brater Funeral Home in Harrison, OH.

GRACE HORN
Grace Dohoney Horn, 85, Lexington, formerly of Harrodsburg, widow of William Rufus Horn Sr. died Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
Born Feb. 26, 1919 in Perryville, she was the daughter of the late Robert G. and Octavia Dohoney.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Lexington.
Survivors include: one son, W.R. “Bill” (Jean) Horn Jr. of Lexington; three grandchildren, Troy Horn, Jennifer Horn and Robin Horn, all of Lexington, and four great-granddaughters, also of Lexington.
The funeral will be Friday, May 7 at 2 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. and Friday after 7:30 a.m. at the chapel.
SADIE NOTTER
Sadie McMahon Notter died May 2, 2004 in Harrodsburg.
Born October 10, 1912, she was a long time resident of Gallia County, Ohio. She and her late husband, Daniel A. Notter, operated a farm there for many years.
Survivors include: one son, Dr. Don L. (Donna) Notter, Harrodsburg and one daughter, Bette (Joe) Hammer, Bel Air, MD, 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. A son, Dr. Dan C. Notter preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, May 8th at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Directors in Gallipolis, Ohio. Burial will be in Mound Hill Cemetery in Gallipolis.
Pallbearers are: Brent Notter, Phil Pope, Don Pope, Dick Payne, Neil McMahon and Joe Anderson.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 pm Friday evening with Eastern Star Services at the funeral home.
Memorials may go to the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital or one's favorite charity.
The Ransdell Funeral Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.
MARIE OWEN
Marie Lawson Tatum Owen, 83, Stanton, wife of Robert D. Owen Sr., died May 2, 2004 at her residence.
Born Feb. 25, 1921 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Army Sgt. Fred Lawson and Mattie Lawson.
She was a 20 year employee of J and R Drug Store in Cynthiana and a member of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include: one sister, Ina Wilcox of Littleton, CO.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leroy Tatum.
The funeral will be today, Thursday, at 11 a.m. at the Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Home in Cynthiana with Rev. Mark Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

LEONARD PRATHER
Leonard R. Prather, 92, Louisville Road, died Monday, May 3, 2004 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born March 10, 1912 in Pulaski County, he was a son of the late Daniel and Flora Merrick Prather.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Salvisa Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three sons, Lee Prather and Robert (Marcella) Prather, both of Harrodsburg, and Tim Prather of Liberty; one daughter, Pauline (Donnie) Tyler of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Clarice Brock of Mercer County, and Velma Albertson of Lafayette, IN; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Curtis and Joe Prather; three brothers, Herman, Perry and Grover Prather, and two sisters, Elva Barker and Elsie Daulton.
The funeral will be today, Thursday, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jerel Coffey officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Don and Norman Barker, Russell and Darrell Brock, Bobby and Ernie Prather, Darrell Agee and Jeff Young. Honorary bearers will be grandchildren.

JOYCE ROBERTSON
Joyce Robertson, 71, Mackville Road, died Monday, May 3, 2004 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 2, 1933 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Martha Divine Pulliam.
She was a 1954 graduate of Nazareth School of Nursing. She was employed by Dr. John S. Baughman for 38 years as a registered nurse and was a former employee of Dr. Vanarsdall and Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church and Mrs. Montgomery’s Sunday School class.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sandra Rayneen Robertson of Lexington; one son, Michael Morse (Carolyn) Robertson of Springfield; two grandchildren, Maegan Rajean (Tracy) Graves and Waylon Michael Monroe, both of Springfield; one great-granddaughter; two nieces; one nephew, and two sisters-in-law.
The funeral will be today, Thursday, at 11 a.m. at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Robert DeFoor and Bro. John Watts officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

McCLELLAN WILLARD
McClellan Eugene Willard, 69, Alton Station Road, Lawrenceburg, widower of Clarice Willene Pumphrey Willard, died Saturday, May 1, 2004 at the home of his daughter in Mercer County.
Born Feb. 2, 1935 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Vesta Sutherland and J.B. Willard.
He was a farmer for 43 years, a night watchman for Huffman Distillery and manager of the Rally Gas Station in Alton for 14 years. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Corinth Christian Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sandy Willard Dews of Mercer County; two granddaughters, Misty Dews Westmoreland and Cheri Dews, both of Mercer County, and two great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by two infant sisters. The funeral was held Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at the Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Wells and Bro. Jerry Perry officiating. Burial was in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers were Larry Drury, David Harley, Shane and Tim Todd, Jeff Young, Jackie Sutherland and Jewell Sutherland. MILITARY RITES
American Legion Post #52, Disabled American Veterans Chapter #54, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6935 conducted Military Rites for Argo Dean at Spring Hill Cemetery on April 29, 2004.
Those attending were: Joe Harlow, Tommy Denny, Curtis Sherrow, Lucian Landers, James Tewmey, Marion Mershon, Tom Rappleye, Preston Burgin, and Howard H. Howells.
Buglers were Jerry and Duchess Freeman and Mercer County Army National Guard representatives were SFC E-7 Douglas Check, SFC E-4 John M. Kwiek and SFC James Arnold.
MARY BROUGHTON
Mary Elizabeth Broughton, 90, Harrodsburg, widow of Clarence Broughton, died Friday, May 7, 2004 at Harrodsburg Health Care Manor.
Born Jan. 19, 1914 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Omer and Minnie Mae Davenport Woods.
She was a seamstress. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church since 1924 and of the Adult Women's Sunday School class. She enjoyed quilting.
Survivors include: one son, Edmond T. (Henrietta) Broughton of Bardstown; two daughters, Doris (Frank) Phillips of Danville, and Dorothy (Kenneth L.) Boyd of Stanford; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren, and 23 step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, James Allen Broughton and one grandson, Allen Wayne Sims.
The funeral was held Monday, May 10 at Hopewell Baptist Church with Fred Wilson officiating. Burial was in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
Arrangements were handled by Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.
ORVILLE BUTTS
Orville Butts, 90, Stratton Road, widower of Vivion Cantrill Butts, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 5, 1913 near Rochester, I, he was the son of the late Ira and Coral Fenimore Butt.
He was a retired Eagle Express Trucking Company employee. He was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church in McAfee. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle and animals.
Survivors include: one daughter, Janice McFerran of Greenwood, IN; two grandchildren, Matthew McFerran and Ann Louise Moore; three great-grandchildren, David Moore, Rachael Moor and Madison McFerran.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Oren, Harold, and Bob Butt and one sister, Bernice Jeffries.
The funeral will be Friday, May 14 at 1 p.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Jon Jones officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
