Douglas Laws Post #52, American Legion, Post #6935, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans Post #54 conducted Military Rites for David C. Jones at Spring Hill Cemetery on Jan. 4, 2005.

CURTIS CAREY
Curtis Carey, 73, Louisville, husband of Doris Trayner Carey, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005 at the Hospice and Palliative Care of Louisville.
Born March 22, 1931 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late John Henry and Addie Smock Carey.
He served in the Korean Theatre in the U.S. Air Force, retired from the maintenance department of IBM, and was a former member and deacon of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lexington and a member of St. Matthew’s Baptist Church in Louisville.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, Michael Curtis (Donna) Carey of Louisville; one daughter, Katrina Carey (Tom) Williams of Honolulu, HI; one sister, Carolyn Sheene of Danville, and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Violet Dailey and Mary Joyce Hall.
The funeral was held Wednesday, Jan. 12 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd., Lexington with Dr. Leslie Hollon, Rev. Don White, and Rev. Morris Trayner officiating. Burial was in Lexington Cemetery.

LEONA ELLIOTT
Leona Devine Elliott, 83, Ott Elliott Lane, widow of Lt. Col. Edwin T. Elliott, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital, Extended Care Center.
Born April 1, 1921 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Lindsey and Gertie Lewis Devine.
She was a self-employed homemaker and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Ott (Sharon) Elliott of Lawrenceburg; a special niece, Leona Royalty Berg, Harrodsburg, several nieces and nephews; two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Don and Eddie Elliott.
The funeral will be today, Thursday, Jan. 13 at 1 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rick Snyder officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ed Berg, William Carroll and Curtis Thompson, Charles Lewis, and Floyd “Buddy” Shirley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. and Mrs. Osby James, Lisa Patterson and Edwin Freeman.
Visitation will be Wednesday after 5 p.m. and Thursday prior to the service at the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Mercer County Senior Citizens or to Heritage Hospice.

CHARLOTTE LANGHAM
Charlotte Langham, 54, Harrodsburg, wife of Jim Langham, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005 at her residence.
Born Dec. 25, 1950 in Sacramento, CA, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Hazel Sewell.
She was a member of the Harrodsburg Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and volunteered in her religion’s building program throughout Kentucky and in other lands. She was co-owner of Langham and Sons Home Improvements.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: two daughters, Kimberly Kerr of Harrodsburg and Lisa Janes of Bardstown; four sons, Coby Langham of Bardstown and Andy, James and Gregory Langham, all of Harrodsburg, six grandchildren, and two sisters, Caroline Gouvia of Hawaii and Farelene Wetherbee of California.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 15 at 3 p.m. at the Danville Convention and Conference Center, 1001 Ben Ali Drive, Danville, KY.
MARGARET LEATHERS
Margaret Grace Wilham Drury Leathers, 88, Lawrenceburg, widow of William Frederick Drury and Orbin Paul “Orb” Leathers, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
Born May 18, 1916 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Cordella Cornish Wilham.
She was a former laundry manager with Stewart Home School in Frankfort and a member of Fairview Christian Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Jean (Ray) Caldwell and Shirley Jenkins, both of Lawrenceburg, and Judy (Anthony) Gash of Harrodsburg; one son, Garland (Norma) Leathers of Salvisa; one sister, Ivona Warner of Willisburg; 18 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren;.
She was preceded in death by one son, Oscar Drury; one daughter, Mary Jewell Carter; five sisters, Leila Robinson, Mary Rutherford, Byrdie Ritchey, Celestus Pearson and Lucille Voorhiese, and three brothers, Oscar Wilham, Willie Wilham and Ray Wilham.
The funeral was held Monday, Jan. 10 at the Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Bro. Rick Shannon officiating. Burial was in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

JEWELL MOORE
Jewell Moore, 75, Leesburg Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005 at The James B. Haggin Extended Care Facility.
Born Nov. 26, 1929 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late James and Sally Patterson Hatchell.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Benton Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Bobby (Catherine) Moore of Mercer County; one sister, Erminy Chumbley of Harrodsburg; one grandson; one niece, and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, William M. Hatchell, and one sister, Betty Farney.
A private funeral service will be held at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial will be in Patterson Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Davis, Ronnie and Gene Stinnett, Jasper and Charlie Denney and Allen Farney.

HARRY RANDSELL JR.
Harry Patterson “Pat” Ransdell Jr., 59, Robards Court, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005 at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Born Aug. 18, 1945 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Harry P. and Marie Adalin Cloyd Ransdell Sr.
He was a self-employed painting contractor and a member of the Christian Union Church in Salvisa.
Survivors include: one son, Todd Ransdell of Burgin; two daughters, Stacy Reister and Christy Cheek, both of Harrodsburg; one sister, Mary Ann Fegley of Lexington; five grandchildren, and a special companion, Patricia Hampton.
The funeral was conducted Saturday, Jan. 8 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Johnny Hockersmith officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Fred and Greg “Chubby” Anderson, J.C. Young, Terry and Keith Currens and M.B. “Bubby” Isham.
Honorary pallbearers were Jeffery and Wayne Sewell and Cliff Prewitt.

AMY SALLEE
Amy Carter Sallee, 39, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 19, 1965 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of Bobby Gene and Brenda Devine Sallee.
She was a student at the Central Kentucky Technical School and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church. She enjoyed music and movies, especially “The Wizard of Oz,” and Dr. Seuss books.
Survivors include: one daughter, Ashley Semones, one brother, Brent Sallee, and one sister, Bobbi Sallee Rightmyer, all of Harrodsburg.
The funeral will be Friday, Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Reynolds, Chris Rawlings and Paul, Jeff, Lee and Scott Crecelius.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. and Friday after 7 a.m. at the funeral home.
ETTA SIPE
Etta Louise Sipe, 78, of Lexington, died Friday, January 7, 2005 at her residence.
She was the widow of Norman "Pete" Sipe and the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Sara Etta Brown Bietz.
Mrs. Sipe was retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot were she worked as a Inventory Manager. She was also a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
Survivors include one son, Norman (Leigh) Sipe, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Wanita (John) Sipe Elison, Lexington; two granddaughters, Amy Sipe and Michelle Elison, both of Lexington; two grandsons, Jason (Geri) Sipe, Harrodsburg and Patrick (Kim) Elison, Lexington.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, at the St. Peter Catholic Church, Lexington, with Rev. Charles Sawarimuthu officiating. Burial will be in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 - 9 pm Mon. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home - Main Street.
FRANCES TEATER
Frances Clay Teater, 88, Parkview Avenue, widow of Z. B. Teater Jr., died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Sept. 17, 1916 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Elonzo Clay and Cora Lloyd Cunningham.
She was a graduate of Salvisa High School, a former beautician and co-owner of C & T Market and was an avid bowler and a member of the Coffee League and the Kentucky Colonel League. She was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church where she was a member of the Quilters and the Bethany Sunday School Class.
Survivors include: one son, Zenah B. Teater III of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Jane Teater Bruno of Denver, CO; one sister, Ellen C. Hurt of Harrodsburg; one brother, A. C. Cunningham of Lawrenceburg, and six grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted Wednesday, Jan. 12 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Chase officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tom Moore, Dan Chilton, Carroll and Roy Cunningham, Josh Teater and Bobby Ritter.
