Mary G. Renfro, 95, Harrodsburg, widow of George Bohon Renfro, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born March 1, 1909 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late James Johnson and Ada Margaret Tewmey Graves.
She was clerk for the City of Harrodsburg for several years and retired as head of the water department after 24 and one-half years. She was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church and of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.
Survivors include: one son, Graves L. (Sandy) Renfro of Burnside; three grandsons, and two step-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Graves, and one sister, Lucille Graves.
The funeral was held Friday, Jan. 28 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Reverend Don Chase officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

HELEN YEAST
Helen J. Yeast, 93, Louisville, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005.
Born in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Joe R. and Suzie Burns Anness.
She was a retired nurses’ aide for the former S.S. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital and a member of Kenwood Heights Christian Church.
Survivors include: one son, Carl T. (Mary) Yeast; one brother, Charles E. Anness; four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be today, Thursday, Feb. 3 at 11 a.m. at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., Louisville. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation Wednesday from 1 until 9 p.m.

HAROLD BREWER
Harold Jason Brewer, 80, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 2, 1924 in Logan County, WV, he was the son of the late Herman Gilbert and Allola McCoy Brewer.
He was a retired school teacher and had taught at Meade Memorial and Johnson Central schools, he had been a construction worker, and he was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include: one step-daughter, Treasia Wardlaw of Harrodsburg; two brothers, Frank Brewer of Logan, WV and Howard Brewer of Arizona; four step-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Hobert Brewer, Herman Brewer and Ezra Brewer.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, Feb. 8 at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County with Rev. Matthew Atha officiating. Burial followed.
Pallbearers were Doug Brown, Jamie Morgan, Todd Garrett and John Wardlaw.
Arrangements were handled by Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.
DONALD CARMICKLE
Donald Cooper Carmickle, 57, Lexington, died Tuesday February 8, 2005 at his residence.
Born December 1, 1947 in Mercer County, he was the son of Alberta Cooper Sims, Lexington and the late R. T. Carmickle.
He was self employed for 35 years doing home improvement in Lexington and surrounding areas and enjoyed horse racing.
Additional survivors include: his step-father, Gayle Sims, Lexington; two sons, Donald Dax (Margaret) Carmickle, and Derek Cooper Carmickle, both of Lexington; two brothers, Jerry Wayne (Sue) Carmickle, Georgetown and Bobby Thomas (Debi) Carmickle, Columbus, GA; one sister, Teresa Gail Stephens, Lexington; one grandson, Dax Alexander Carmickle; several nephews and one niece.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial will be in the Burgin Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Hurst, Trent Stephens, Travis Stephens, Jeff Carmickle, Richard Carmickle and Randy Samples. Honorary bearers will be Juett Redmon, Bert Sorrell, Roger Bernard, Mike Brown, Raymond Helenberg, and Leroy Horton.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday and after 7:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
LEODA CARTER
Leoda L. Carter, 84, Cornishville Road, widow of Arnold Carter, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005 at the Cambridge Nursing Home in Lexington.
Born April 25, 1920 in Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Merrel and Lillie Robinson Long.
She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years where she was also a former Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Sunshine Homemakers Club and was an avid U.K. basketball fan.
Survivors include: one son, Arnold Wayne (Sherry) Carter; one sister, Ava Jewell (Willie B.) Horn; one niece, Brenda H. Rogers, and one nephew, Merrill Nichols Long, all of Harrodsburg.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Leon Long.
The funeral was conducted Tuesday, Feb. 8 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Stephen Ramsey officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bill and Will Rogers, Maurice Long, Kenny and Jim Baker and Garnett Rubel.
Honorary pallbearers were Sunday School class members Wanda and Rhonda Baker.

PATRICK CLARK
Patrick Grant Clark 69, of Chimney Rock Road, Harrodsburg, died Sunday, February 6, 2005 at his home.
Born Nov. 21, 1935, in Louisville, he was a son of the late Patrick A. and Gladys L. McGrew Clark.
He was a retired foreman for Louisville Gas and Electric Co. and former owner of Main Street Restaurant from 1987 to 1999. Since 2000, he has worked at Stith Funeral Home. He served in the Army as a corporal and was a graduate of Flaget High School in Louisville. He was a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church in Louisville.
Survivors include: his wife, Linda Lewis Clark; three daughters, Theresa Ledford, Vine Grove, Angela Clark and Patricia Hall, both of Louisville; two sons, Michael Clark, San Antonio, TX, and William Clark of Utica; a stepson, Stefan Weissrock, Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with by the Rev. Linh Nguyen. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Boyle Post 46 and an Army funeral squad.
Pallbearers will be Mike, Bill, John and Robert Clark, John Hall, Robert Hamlin, Robert Sowders and Karl Luttrell.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Stith Funeral Home.
Memorials may go to Heritage Hospice or American Cancer Society.
RUBY COOK
Ruby Hurst Cook, 88, Humston Dr., Lawrenceburg, wife of George M. Cook, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
Born July 27, 1916 in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Ben and Augusta Wiley Hurst.
She was a former seamstress with Fruit of the Loom in Frankfort and a member of the Alton Christian Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: two daughters, Peggy (Roy V.) Catlett of Shelbyville and Theresa (Jack) Damron of Frankfort; two sisters, Isabelle Royalty of Lawrenceburg and Willie Mae Hinson of South Carolina; one stepsister, Mary Love Bowman of Louisville; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Edward Cook; two sisters, Alma Merryman and Dora Lee Quaerna, and several stepsisters and brothers.
The funeral was held Friday, Feb. 4 at the Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Rev. Jim Wheeler officiating. Burial was in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

IRENE CUNNINGHAM
Irene Daugherty Cunningham, 93, widow of Forrest V. Cunningham, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005 at the Heritage Hall Care Center in Lawrenceburg.
Born Sept. 28, 1911 in Wayne County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Kincaid and Pearl Conley Daugherty.
She was a retired teacher for the Harrodsburg and Mercer County School Systems, a member of the retired teachers association, a member of the Harrodsburg Women’s Club for 50 years, and also a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church for 78 years where she was a Sunday School teacher and had served as president of the Methodist Women. She was a graduate of Burgin High School and the University of Kentucky.
Survivors include: one brother, Louis (Dorothy) Daugherty, and one sister, Gertrude (Gene) Sageser, both of Lexington, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Sherrill Daugherty, and three sisters, Lucille Yocum, Ruth Sanders and Dorothy Finnell.
Graveside services were conducted Friday, Feb. 4 at the Spring Hill Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Owens officiating.
Pallbearers were nephews.
Arrangements were handled by the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church.
HATTIE HILL
Hattie Johnson Sleet Hill, 100, of Harrodsburg Health Care Center, formerly of Perryville, died Monday, February 7, 2005 in Harrodsburg.
Born May 6, 1904, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Mollie Johnson and stepdaughter of the late Lily Graves Johnson.
She was owner of an upholstery business and provided home health care. She was the oldest member of Perryville First Baptist Church, a member of Missionary Group, Willing Workers, Senior Choir and had worked with Vacation Bible School.
Survivors include five grandchildren, Phyllis Hall Newby and Regina Cartwright, both of Louisville, Gary Hall of North Carolina, Marshall Sleet of Lexington and Steve Sleet of Perryville; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two children, Raymond Sleet and Lillie Mae Hall.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church by the Rev. W.F. Newby. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday at the church.
Wilder Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
