Elma R. Long, 79, Bohon Road, widow of Hobert G. Long, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005 at her home.
Born June 25, 1925 in Willisburg, she was a daughter of the late George and Flora Durr Gritton.
She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and was the church custodian for many years.
Survivors include: her son-in-law, Michael L. Darland of Harrodsburg; one sister, Faye G. Drury of Willisburg; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Darland.
The funeral was conducted Tuesday, March 1 at the Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Geurin and Rev. David Culp officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brent and Terry Steele, Curtis Sherrow, Tommy Pinkston, Lonnie Harley and Jimmy Dale Hawthorne.
Honorary pallbearers were deacons of the Bethel Baptist Church.
Arrangements were handled by Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

THOMAS McGUIRE
Thomas E. McGuire, 38, North Main Street, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005 at his residence.
Born April 25, 1966 in Louisville, he was a son of Leslie Edward McGuire of Louisville and Joyce Sheldon of Perryville.
He was a construction worker, a tattoo artist, and he loved to draw.
In addition to his parents, survivors include: his step-father, Neal Sheldon of Perryville; two daughters and their mother, Darby Rae McGuire, Charlotte Jo McGuire and Sarah Mallori McGuire, all of Harrodsburg; one brother, Brandon Taylor, also of Harrodsburg; his maternal grandmother, Anna Belle Miller of Louisville, and numerous relatives.
The funeral was conducted Sunday, Feb. 27 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jim and Tim Springate, Doug Alsman, Vernon and Jim McGuire and Brandon Taylor.

THOMAS McGUIRE
Death Ruled A Suicide
Thomas E. McGuire, 38, of 120 N. Main St., Apt. 2, was found dead at his residence Thursday evening, Feb. 24.
Police were called to the residence at 9:03 p.m. after McGuire’s uncle, Eugene McGuire, found his nephew hanging. An investigation determined that McGuire had intentionally hanged himself.
Eugene McGuire told police that his nephew had been upset about his recent arrest for stalking a 17-year old girl and about newspaper reports of the arrest.
Thomas McGuire pleaded guilty in Mercer County District Court Feb. 22 to a charge of stalking in the second degree.
Pt. Jason Eldridge and members of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and Mercer Coroner’s Office investigated the death.
WILLIAM RILEY
William Sherman Riley, 96, College Manor, widower of Julia Disponett Riley, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital after an illness.
Born Aug. 24, 1908 in Anderson County, he was a son of the late James Matthew and Mattie Alice Holt Riley.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Salvisa Methodist Church.
Survivors include: one sister, Margie Cornish, and one brother, Earl (Loretta) Riley, both of Lawrenceburg, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Tuesday, March 1 at Gash Memorial Chapel in Lawrenceburg with Bro. John Hockersmith III and Bro. Danny Wiley officiating. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Louis Sea, Donnie Green, Ricky Coke and and Delaine, Joe and E.J. Riley Jr.

HILDA SIMS
Hilda Sims, 75, Harrodsburg, widow of Robert B. Sims, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005 at her home.
Born Sept. 22, 1929 in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Delbert and Reva Stratton Robinson.
She was retired after 27 years with South Central Bell as a service representative, and she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the choir and of W.M.U.
Survivors include: two sons, Robert Bruce (Deborah) Sims of Hendersonville, TN and Delbert Stephen (Beth) Sims of Harrodsburg; three sisters, Doris (Foster ) Sims and Emma (John) Lay, both of Danville, and Frances (John) McClure of Prospect; one brother, Thomas E. “Buddy” Robinson of Lexington, and two grandsons.
The funeral was conducted Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Bethel Baptist Church with David Culp, John Cato and Lester Tirey officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

ERNIE WILBURN
Ernie Wayne Wilburn, 48, Pernik, Bulgaria, formerly of Danville and Harrodsburg, husband of Tsvetanka Hadzhieva Wilburn, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005.
Born Dec. 13, 1956 in Danville, he was a son of the late Helen West Boyd and William “Frosty” Wilburn.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: his stepfather, Ralph Boyd of Danville; one daughter, Amanda Wilburn of Lake County, FL; one son, Ernie Wayne Wilburn Jr. of Lexington; six sisters, Debbie (Chuck) Whitis of Somerset, Michelle (Doug) Smothers of Danville, Melissa (Jason) Fussell, Teena Knight, and Wendie (Scott) Brantley, all of Lake County, FL, and Tina (Forrest) Stevens of Lawrenceburg; two brothers, Roger (Tish) Wilburn of Lexington and Darril (Marcy) Wilburn of Helotes, TX.
The funeral was held Friday, Feb. 25 at Stith Funeral Home in Danville with Doug Bruce officiating. Burial was at Junction City Cemetery.
MARSHA WILLIAMS
Marsha Williams, 44, Grist-Mill Road, Stanford, wife of Bill Williams, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born March 12, 1960 in Lexington, she was the daughter of Pauline Maddox Fuller of Lexington and the late Stanley Fuller.
She was a Lifeline Ministries evangelist and vocalist, traveling extensively and performing all over the country. She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and a member of Southside Christian Church in Harrodsburg.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: one daughter, Kimberly Ann Williams of Lincoln County, and one brother, Gene Fuller, also of Lincoln County.
The funeral was conducted Wednesday, March 2 at the Southland Christian Church in Lexington with Wayne Smith, Sam Stow, Bruce Heller, Byron Jessup, Monte Wilkinson and Brewster McLeod officiating. Burial was in the Lexington Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bret Chamberland, Bruce Williams, Brackie Willoughby, Davey Graham, Donnie Fuller and Larry Moore.
Arrangements were handled by the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

PARIS BURKE SR.
Paris Burke Sr., 81, Crab Orchard, husband of Sally Wallin Burke, died Sunday, March 6, 2005 at his home.
Born April 8, 1923 in East Bernstadt, he was a son of the late Pete and Elizabeth Brummett Burke.
He was a retired employee of the Texas Eastern Gas Company and a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. He was a World War II army veteran, in the 3rd Ranger Battalion, Company A, and he received the European African Middle Eastern Theater ribbon, Army occupational medal and a World War II victory ribbon.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, Paris (Liz) Burke Jr. of Stanford; three daughters, Brenda (Ray) Denny of Crab Orchard, Shirley (Terry) Weber of Nicholasville, and Diane (Wayne) Edwards of Paint Lick; three brothers, J.W. (Jean) Burke and Glen (Opal) Burke, both of Brodhead, and Bobby (Pearlene) Burke of Pensacola, FL; four sisters, Ella Mae Lanham of Berea, Jewell Maxine (Jack) Murphy of Colonial Heights, VA, Dorothy Bartley of Greenville, SC and Shirley (Bobby) Smith of Crab Orchard; one niece; 12 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandy Kay Burke; three brothers, James Boyd “Bud” Burke, Edwin Burke and Pete Burke Jr., and one sister, Rosa Lee Nickell.
The funeral was held Wednesday, March 9 at Stanford Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Hall officiating. Burial was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery with military honors presented by the Caswell Saufley American Legion Post #18.
Pallbearers were Michael Edwards, Chris and Mathew Cope, Andrew Denny, Jeremy St. Lawrence and Josh Brown.
Arrangements were handled by McKnight Funeral Home, Inc. in Crab Orchard.

JAMES BRADSHAW
James Walter Bradshaw, 82, of Boyden Court, Danville, died Friday March 5, 2005 at his home.
Born June 13, 1922, in Burgin, he was the son of the late James Walter and Ethel Lincoln Bottoms Bradshaw.
He was retired from Sellers Engineering and was a member of First Baptist Church on Broadway. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Young Bradshaw; a son, James Bradshaw of Danville; two daughters, Pat Grubbs of Danville and Rita Brock of Winchester; a brother, Bill Bradshaw of Burgin; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home, Danville, by the Rev. Tim Mathis and Jeff King. Burial will be in Burgin Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday.
Memorials may go to the First Baptist Church building fund.
J. T. CLARK
J. T. Clark, 74, Danville, widower of Dorothy Ann Strickland Clark, died Thursday, March 3, 2005 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born April 10, 1930 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Josh and Mertie Randolph Clark.
He was a general handyman and was formerly employed by the Morman Funeral Home in Kansas, he had been employed by Arnolds Florist in Harrodsburg, and he ran the Parkright Parking Lot on Vine St in Lexington. He was a member of The Eagles Nest Church in Junction City.
Survivors include: one cousin, Viola Sims of Harrodsburg, and his church family.
The funeral was conducted Saturday, March 5 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Johnny Montgomery officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
